“Control is his specialty until he meets the one woman who challenges everything—a fearless journalist who ignites a passion more dangerous than the killers pursuing them.”

Some secrets are worth killing for. Some passions are worth dying for.

HE’S ALL CONTROL. Ryan “Brass” Ellis never loses his cool. As second-in-command of Cerberus Security, he’s the strategist, the levelheaded one, the man who makes the impossible possible. His legendary control has seen him through three combat tours and countless high-risk operations.

Until her.

SHE’S ALL DEFIANCE. Investigative journalist Sloane Hart has stared down warlords and exposed corruption across four continents. She’s used to danger—it’s practically her comfort zone. What she’s not used to is being protected, especially by a bossy, infuriatingly competent ex-Delta Force operator who thinks he knows what’s best for her.

What she’s definitely not prepared for? The way he makes her want to surrender.

TOGETHER, THEY’RE EXPLOSIVE.

When Ryan witnesses an assassination attempt on Sloane in a DC subway, he intervenes without hesitation. What should be a simple extraction becomes a cross-country chase as professional kill teams hunt them at every turn. Forced into hiding together, their volatile chemistry ignites into something neither can deny.

But Sloane’s investigation has uncovered a terrifying an autonomous AI assassination program with full authority to identify and eliminate threats—no human oversight required. As they piece together the conspiracy, they discover connections that reach the highest levels of government.

Now they’re not just running for their lives. They’re fighting to expose a truth that could cost them everything.

ONE BED. ONE RULE. ONE BURNING DESIRE.

Trapped in hotel rooms with nowhere to run, Ryan and Sloane wage their own private battle—one of wills, trust, and a passion neither expected. He demands obedience to keep her safe. She challenges his every command. But when night falls and defenses crumble, they discover a connection deeper than either imagined possible.

Ryan will do anything to protect Sloane, even sacrifice himself. But the stubborn journalist is determined to break through his carefully constructed walls, proving that surrendering control doesn’t mean weakness—sometimes it’s the greatest strength of all.

In a high-stakes game where trust is a luxury they can’t afford and desire is a distraction they can’t resist, they’ll need to embrace what’s building between them to survive the forces hunting them down.

Because the most dangerous weapon isn’t the one pointed at them—it’s the feelings neither can control.

A Suspenseful Cerebus Romance!!

This takes off like a shot! Celeste is a journalist on a very important and very dangerous story. Many have died trying to expose what is happening. Her contact has his throat cut, but a prearranged Plan B gives her the drive she is looking for, and a team of killers on her tail.

Ryan just spent Thanksgiving with his family. He happens to be in the right place at the right time to ensure she stays alive. Keeping her that way is another thing. Former Delta Force means he has the skillset.

A cross country trek with character development, forced proximity, close calls, off-the-charts chemistry, and an ever-increasing danger level.

To say more might reveal too much. Just know this is an amazing read. Expect to devour it in just a short time as you will require the resolution!!

***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****

Wowza, when you get to page one make sure you fasten your seatbelts and hold on tight, because this book is fast paced, action packed and the ultimate adrenaline rush. In fact this book was so addictive I couldn’t put it down as I didn’t want to miss another situation!

Ryan Ellis aka Brass is assigned to help protect journalist Celeste when investigating a dangerous story goes belly up.

Protecting her doesn’t turn out as planned and in addition to the decisions that had to be made.
The suspense, the intensity and all the unexpected twists with a healthy dose of steamy romance for good measure made this fun read a real page turner.

This book was amazing….a real page turner from start to finish. This is the second book in the Cerberus series which started with Ghost as number 1, Brass. Is number 2 and Whisper number 3 in the works. If it’s anything like Ghost and Brass, it will be a doozy! Celeste is a well known investigative journalist who in her research has come across an ominous hidden program granting deadly decisions with no human overseer. Her inside contact wants to meet to pass on a thumb drive that could rip open this covered up former government program passed on to a private company under the management only known as “Shadow”. From the moment Celeste goes to her contact’s room and finds him with his throat slit, she retrieves a flash drive hidden in a TV remote. As she gets back in her car in shock a large black vehicle races toward her and she has to gun her vehicle to try and escape. As they systematically ram her car it dies and she runs into a subway entrance with four formerly military assassins on her tail. Ryan Ellis, a former Marine now working for Cerberus and realizes the woman he sees is in deep trouble. Returning from his mother’s family Thanksgiving heading back to Cerberus for his next assignment never expecting the situation he is now involved in….and that’s only the first couple of chapters! This is an amazing story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and wondering if Ryan and Celeste, one running on ingrained military regulations and the other stubborn and unhappy about the situation. You will not believe how many twists and turns that keep them on the run. Read it! It will definitely hit The NYT bestseller list top ten…at Least!

Brass and Celeste

This book is the very definition of an adrenaline rush. Celeste is an investigative reporter who is on the run from very dangerous people. She is supposed to meet a "source" to get information from him. That doesn't go as planned and now she is running for her life. Enter Cerberus Personal Security specialist Ryan Ellis. He immediately noticed something is wrong when Celeste runs onto the subway platform with men hot on her trail. Making a split second decision, he grabs her hand and they run. She challenges Ryan at every turn. When they finally reach the team, there are some hard decisions to be made, not to mention, sacrifices. This book is definitely a page turner. Fast paced action, suspense, danger and a little bit of romance added for good measure. I can't recommend this book highly enough. You will be on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Ellie Masters has truly done it again. Sorry, no spoilers

Once again Ellie Masters mind blows me away. The subjects and plots she puts in her books are amazing and make you think hum that’s a scary thought.

I picked Brass to be my favorite Cerberus operator when asked who I liked based on descriptions of each operator, before the first book came out. Let me tell you I picked right ! Brass was such a strong character and was everything you could ask for in a main character. Celeste the main female character is a strong , stubborn and independent woman. Together they just fit and this story was just what I’ve come to expect from Ellie. This story starts like a roller coaster but instead of a climb to the top of the first plunge down it is a constant plunge down a huge hill with twists and turns and hold your breath turn the pages faster the whole way.

I can’t wait for the next book even though Brass I’m afraid will be my favorite book of all.

BRASS (CERBERUS PERSONAL SECURITY BOOK 2

AOMG… This new book is AMAZING…I read it in 2 days….would have been one day if I hadn’t had other things to do…like breathe, eat, sleep and other stuff like feed my family etc. The book grabs you from the first paragraph when Celest is running for her life after discovering her contact for a huge conspiracy story as an investigative writer with his throat slit. However she recovers the flash drive where her contact told her it would be and for her it was worth risking her life. Forced into a crash by her methodical pursuers she runs into the subway but is pursued there and about to be killed when Brass, Cerebus Agent on his way home steps in …..Ryan Ellis is a many times over hero, working for Ghost the owner and founder of Cerberus. This new series promises to keep you on the edge of your seat and teaming up with Guardian HRS this will if not already on the New York Times best seller list #1 spot!

Wow, right from the start you find yourself in the heart of the action. Celeste Hart, journalist, has uncovered information that has put a target on her back. Rescued by Ryan Ellis, Brass, together they find themselves having to outwit an intelligence that is constantly evolving and learning, a frightening thought of a future real life possibility. As they continue to run, the chemistry between them is explosive and a connection forms that brings a new meaning to partnership for them both. When the threat becomes much bigger, difficult decisions will have to be made, but it will give them an opportunity to investigate from the dark. Suspense, action, lots of tension and some serious heat have ensured that this book is one that you will not be able to put down. I can wait to read Whisper's story and see where it takes us next.

ARC review. Brass is the second book in Ellie Masters’ Cerberus Personal Security series. From Brass rescuing Celeste in the subway then running through the bowels of D.C. the action which seemed to keep pace with my adrenaline spiked heartbeat never slows down. Add in the verbal control tug of war ending with Celeste on her knees with “Sir” as her response and I question whether I’ll ever catch my breath. The unexpected becomes the expected as Brass, Celeste Cerberus, and HRS join up to battle an AI assassination program that decides who dies without the input of humans. I especially liked the ending as I was rewarded with Brass and Celeste’s unusual HEA but was left with the battle against AI just gearing up. I can’t wait for the next battle…book.

An adrenaline rush from start to finish. Let it be known that I'm claustrophobic. With heart pounding, I may have held my breath more than a few times. It was Chapter 8 that I labeled, HOT! The storyline is genius! Loved the banter between feisty Celeste and serious Ryan! And Chapter 26? I could envision the cover model as Ryan driving that vehicle! Another, HOT! This is a book that I regret the speed in which I consumed it. It's definitely on my READ IT AGAIIN list! Back to the storyline, it definitely gives a person something to wonder and be concerned about in our daily lives. Ellie Masters is a master at writing thought provoking, knowledgeable real live scenarios. I'm excited for book #3 in the Cerberus Personal Security Series, but only after I've reread BRASS!

Brass & Celeste ignite the pages with tension, passion, & a fierce battle for control. Every encounter crackles as danger shadows their every move, blurring the lines between survival & surrender. You’re caught between frustration & admiration as their push-and-pull explodes into raw, consuming need. Each twist heightens the anticipation, leaving you breathless as chaos reigns. Boy what a phenomenal read. Ryan and Celeste’s story is fast paced non-stop action from start to finish. Talk about not being able to put a book down, well that’s this one in spades. How these to meet, become partners against an unknown AI threat and work together to bring it down is a really fabulous page turning read. I can’t wait for the next instalment in this series to see what happens next!

Ryan and Celeste’s story comes about because two people end up in the same place at the same time. And the adventure the two go on just spirals into a chase that causes one of the best love stories I have read from Ellie Masters in a long time. This is one series that you will not only want to read but have book trophies as well.

Brass is the second book in the Cerberus Personal Security Series. Similar to the first book (Ghost) this book starts fast so get ready.

Celeste is an investigative journalist who has been tracking a story of a secret government tracking program. Her leads are all dying of mysterious and not so mysterious causes and when her latest contact is murdered she goes on the run with the information he left for her. This starts a chase through Washington DC and when she is cornered in the subway it looks like it might be the end for her too.

Ryan (call sign Brass) is just trying to get home from spending Thanksgiving with his mom. An innocent wait at a train station sees a woman being followed by a group of men. Instinct kicks and he goes into protector mode. This kicks off a run for both of their lives through the subway and underground DC while they try to figure out what is going on.

Celeste is untrusting to say the least of Ryan and fights him at every move. He pushes her to keep her safe and she pushes back out of mistrust. This leads to very frustrating interactions early on but soon they learn that to survive they need each other.

The decision is made to get Celeste back to Cerberus headquarters in Seattle but they can’t take conventional travel means like air or train so they drive. Cerberus provides help along with way with a vehicle left here and there but Ryan and Celeste are being tracked through their digital footprint and soon have to abandon their original plan and go off the grid. In adapting to each new day and situation, they learn to trust each other and feelings start to develop.

Like with the previous book Ghost, help is needed from Guardian HRS and they quickly learn that the information that Celeste has been tracking is directly related to the tracking program identified in that first book.

I love how this book continues to develop the storyline from Ghost and there is activity that will set up future storylines as well.

I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I am leaving this book voluntarily.

Brass, 2nd book in the series Cerberus Personal Security and Ellie Masters, once again takes us on a nail-biting journey, with danger just around the corner and slow burn relationship which you know is going to turn into a volcanic eruption.

Ryan (Brass) Ellis, a member of the Cerberus team is on his way home from his grandmothers when he comes across Journalist Celeste Hart in a subway running away from some men who Ryan immediately recognises as being “professionals” out to kill her.

And so, begins a journey, a game of cat and mouse, where control and trust is fought for and tested, professionalism verses unrelenting desire burning away in the background, as Ryan tries to get Celeste to safety. As Celeste’s story begins to unfold, Ryan quickly realises that that the danger is not going to go away, that Celeste has got herself involved in something that’s huge and getting more dangerous every day. He also knows that helping her he will become a target as well.

Brass is a delicious mix of suspense, danger and steamy action right from page one. It ends not with a real cliffhanger, but the back story, Phoenix, the reason Celeste was in danger continues. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and Whisper’s journey to see where this goes.

WOW !! Brass is definitely a nail biter, very good story, the race to get to a safe place was an adventure in itself, the chemistry between Celeste and Ryan was very exciting, and especially when they connected...
HOWEVER the ending was infuriating, I would not want to be a mom and not know why my child died.. even if i knew he worked a dangerous job I would want closure or something make sense..they had 6 mos to ..I don't know inform her that all was ok but they had to hide away till All was safe..

SPOILER ALERT ...........................................................................................................................................

......................................................................................................................................................................

.......................................................................................................................................................................

Then having this story end in a cliffie ...
I AM SO NOT A FAN ... BUT the author writes such amazing stories

In this latest book by Ellie Masters, the book explodes with heart-stopping action and a fight between the two main characters for control...Meet the Investigative reporter Celeste Hart who stumbled on an increasingly deadly story of corruption, manipulation and an almost science fiction result of programming originally meant to assist soldiers into a "license to kill" program who can track anyone using public interface with technology...and unknowingly Ryan Ellis is returning home to Seattle after Thanksgiving with his family in D.C. and waiting to board subway to airport when sees the result of an AI program finding Celeste...a hit squad...so as member of Cerberus Security and former Army Ranger, intervenes...despite Celeste's insistence that she doesn't need his help...leading to a death defying chase through subway tunnels...but you will need to read this un-put-down-able story to see what happens...I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.

This story starts with a murder and doesn't really slow down from there. Celeste is an investigative journalist who needs protection. A great line that describes her is, "Fighting for the truth isn’t just what you do—it’s who you are.” Protection is a job Ryan (Brass) is born to do, even if he just falls into it when he first helps her. Together they go on the run trying to shake the baddies after Celestre, but eventually get some help from the Cerberus Personal Security Team. In some ways these two are like fire and ice, but nevertheless the attraction is undeniable. There's a great balance of action and romance in the story. But the bodies are piling up and things eventually come to a head. I will say we get a great HEA for the MCs, but there is an ongoing thread of a story here that will be continuing throughout the series I think. I look forward to reading more.

This was a thrill ride of a story. Non stop action and suspense from start to finish.

In full on protector mode, Ryan aka Brass jumps in to help a journalist Celeste when mercenaries are after her.

Got to love a book that keeps you on edge from start to finish. Couldn't read fast enough to keep up with the action. Celeste was stubborn and too smart for her own good causing a lot of friction between then at the start. But that attraction and the constant pressure of danger got her to fall on line quickly.

I truly enjoyed the action and story line. The compatibility of Ryan and Celeste, as well as the Guardian characters made this a great book.

So well done on the whole experience, it was such a pleasure and can't wait for the next in the series! Brilliant read!!

Breathing Normal Was Difficult

Just when I thought I could take a breath and the tension in my shoulders started to relax, Bam!
Non stop action. The story scared the crap out of me.
One of my favorite authors, Ellie Masters, really took you on an adventure this time. I loved the characters and in my next life, I am holding out for someone like Brass. The couple clicked and the heat was perfect between the two. Well, better than perfect.
I have the last two books in the Charlie Company to read and I heard they were excellent reads with a compelling story line and great heat.
If you haven't read Ellie Masters, you are missing out. I suggest you go back to the beginning and start reading. Jet Masters's books are hot, also.

Holy guacamole! Brass is a nail biter start to finish. This is romantic suspense on steroids. The tension, danger, intrigue and thrills are nonstop. Then there's the electricity that continuously arcs between Brass and Sloane from their first encounter. She's all sass, demanding, contrariness and distrust. He's rigid, stoic, commanding, fearless and bossy. Saving her from herself as well as those who are searching for her is a full-time job that tests his resolve on many levels. The caveat "big brother is watching" kept running through my mind as I was completely spellbound by this book. Ellie Masters, once again, outdoes herself.

Loved this story it was so different, yes they were fleeing from the same group that Ghost was about, but it was so much more. Highly trained operatives are hard enough to evade, but add to that AI that has been unleashed with no human checks and balances and life gets very very difficult. It was Ryan's training and protective personality that would not let him ignore what was happening to Celeste. What follows is a very hot, very exciting but cautionary tale about the downsides of technology especially when it is in the wrong hands. The ending was very different and I am sure we will hear more about this couple in future books. A gripping story that will keep you flipping pages.

Ellie Masters does it again with nonstop action and suspense! I totally loved Ryan and how serious he was but still wanting to help a total stranger. I did have a harder time liking Celeste though. While she may have been strong, she was beyond infuriating. If I was Ryan, I would have left her to her own devices to get free from those after her. I would have totally walked away. Her profession itself was a total turnoff for me as well as I find that profession is hard to trust in general. She did grow on me as the book progressed though. Ryan, aka Brass totally made the book for me.

What non-stop suspense! Celeste is an investigative journalist who has uncovered an artificial intelligence plot that is beginning to run without human oversight. Professional killers are after her and the USB drive she carries detailing the system. Terrified and trying to escape, she runs into Ryan, a Cerberus operative, who willingly risks his life to protect hers. Thus beings a heart-stopping adventure. The suspense never lets up making you wonder if they will ever win. But even with the hounds from hell on their trail and gaining, they find some time for romance. Great, great read!!

Cerberus Personal Security book 2.

Just like Ellie Masters always does, she gives us an epic story from the beginning until the end and Celeste and Ryan are the characters in this one!

Ryan just happens to be in the right place at the right time to see someone being stalked and in danger. Celeste isn’t used to having help but defending and depending on herself but if she plans to get out of this situation alive, she has to trust this man that could hurt her far more than the military men trying to kill her.

This book had me glued from the beginning until the end! You don’t want to miss this one.

More than a job

Brass/Ryan and Celeste. The steady second in command finds his partner, but on a truly unplanned manner when she is on the run from a hit squad and he acts to save her. What happens then is non stop evasion, heat, and sci fi goodness as the one calling the shots might be more AI than human. It connects back to book one with the team, but also the ex husband and some of his shady dealings. The ending was unique as it shared where this new partnership is romantically and in their pursuit of Justice, but the overarching problem of the program and secrecy is far from resolved…in fact that ending made it brilliantly tense and set for the next book!

Burning Desire ~ Intoxicating Danger 🔥

Ellie Masters delivers another sizzling hit with BRASS! Ryan and Celeste's story is a thrilling ride of action, suspense, and steamy romance. The chemistry between them is electric, and their attraction ignites into a passionate inferno. I loved how the storyline transported me to the edge of my seat, keeping me guessing until the very end. The twists and turns had me hooked, and the dominant dynamic between Ryan and Celeste had me craving more. 🤓
