This was weird as hell, but still fun...
A great mix of paranormal and monster romance. Monster romance has never been my thing in the past, but I might be taking a turn, because I didn't mind that much, tentacles and all.. I didn't mind at all, even I am surprised tbh..
Lucy was left on the side of the mountain by her boyfriend and his friends, so she makes a wish in a well for a Hallmark type of love. A wish to a forgotten god, a god that will do anything to make her wish come true..
A lonely god and a girl looking for love. The perfect combination.
This was hilarious and we do love a man that can make all of our fantasies come to life, even when they come in a form of a vampire, a demon and some tentacles... That was very creative.
Also, I absolutely loved her friends.
It was extremely rushed though, I know I can't expect for much in a novella, but still, we could've gotten a little more development. Everything happened very abruptly.

So heres the deal... He's a monster shape-shifter and instead of requesting a, I don't know, a hot monster, Lucy requests that he turns in a giant Kraken. 🐙 Then they screw each other's brains out. While he's still a Kraken...not weird at all guys.
Did I also mention he could have shape shifted into the hottest guy in the world yet she still wanted to
go to pound town with him in this atrocious form??
She was like "I would put that man on the biggest hear-me-out cake" 🎂🦑 Yeah girlie, sorry to inform you, but most of the things on my hear me out cake I would not actually screw. WE LISTEN AND WE DON'T JUDGE!!! Well......sorry, here's a healthy dose of side eye 👀 and judgement.

Fun and funny fast read with Lemming’s regular flair. There’s an ancient being who becomes intrigued by a woman in the woods with her asshole boyfriend. Said woman rolls with the oddities that spring up and has a girl gang on speed dial to support her too as she ditches the boyfriend.
It’s not one to think deeply about, everything happens so fast. The MMC was so creative though and the FMC curious and accepting. No background on the FMC, not even a throwaway comment. The MMC is powerful but had limitations. I wish it was a little longer. The single steamy scene was also a lot of moving parts (literally) and while spicy, it did seem a tiny bit jarring with no lead-up and then boom HFN ending.
It was pure, suspend your disbelief, entertainment.

this is exactly what i wanted from this collection - sexy and funny with an eerie atmosphere! lucy is hiking deep through the mountains with her soon to be ex boyfriend and his shitty friends, when they leave her behind after she hurts her ankle. but something is watching lucy, and planning how to get her to trust them. and this quickly turns into a shapeshifter why-choose set in a very sweet magical town, where lucy feels wanted and appreciated. and we also get to see lucy updating her friends on her situation constantly and i was truly giggling. this was just the perfect balance of lighthearted and hot and i really enjoyed it. for sure my favorite in the collection!

the setup…
Lucy Sawyer goes on a hiking trip with her jerk of a boyfriend who abandons her halfway up. She tries to descend, stumbles and finds herself in a dream of a town with lots of charming, delectable men who are all vying for her attention. Trouble is, she’s gotten the attention of an ancient shapeshifter who is determined to make her his priestess.
the heart of the story…
What would you do if all of your romantic dreams start to materialize before your eyes? Of course Lucy gets swept up in Hemlock’s creations and at some point begins to think all that glitters isn’t gold. It is all whimsical and fun, especially the parts where she’s conversing with her group chat buddies. It’s when the sexy shows up that I went off the rails…a demon, a vampire and a kraken? Uh, no.
the narration…
If there’s one consistency with this collection it’s the superb performances by the narrators. Sean Crisden & Aure Nash were absolutely fantastic! His baritone combined with her comedic talents made this a delight.
the bottom line…
I was having so much fun until the sexy moments, which were skillfully executed. I just couldn’t get the kraken out of my head. Otherwise, I enjoyed this story quite a bit for its humor and creativity. 3.5 stars

You know, the idea of a woman falling in love with a god had good potential. It could have been a cute novella, if it was a little longer/deeper and with zero spice. In fact, I’m rating it as if I hadn’t read the last chapter, or this would be a 1 star. I also have an unanswered question: he is immortal, but what about her?
