It was supposed to be a prank. I wasn’t supposed to fall in love…

It all started as a plan to cheer up my grumpiest brother and make my life easier. I created a fake account for him on a dating site to find the perfect woman to cure his broken heart.

Chatting with her has become the best part of my day, and I’m having feelings for her that I shouldn’t be having for my brother’s woman.

Luckily, I meet the perfect distraction in the real world. Amelia needs a cat gym, and I offer to build it.

Problem? They’re the same person. Amelia Burns is the woman I’ve been talking to as my brother for weeks.

I’m definitely not going to set her up with my brother now, but I’m not sure I stand a real chance with her as myself.

She’s dead set against a serious relationship and telling her the truth will ruin everything.

The Love Prank is the second book in Sadler's Sullivan Brothers series. If you're familiar with Sadler's writing, many of her books are set in Catalpa Creek. While this allows her to reference characters readers may know from earlier books, rest assured that if you're new to her writing, or to this series, each book can be appreciated as a standalone.

This small town, contemporary romance features Amelia Burns and Deacon Sullivan.

Amelia is a single mom to four-year old Harper. While she works as an animal control officer, she has dreams of becoming a veterinarian. She doesn't have time for much other than being the best mom she can be and working. When her best friend Ellery encourages her to look for some non-committal adult fun, Amelia creates a profile on a dating site.

Deacon is a finish carpenter who lives and works with his many brothers. His older brother Sebastian has been a major grump lately. Deacon wants to set him up in the hopes that it might flip his frown upside down. He therefore secretly creates a profile for him on a dating site and plans to read through any possible pairings to find one that might work. As it so happens, Amelia writes to "Sebastian". She's very clear that she's absolutely not looking for a relationship and will likely never meet him in person but Deacon has a good feeling about her and the two continue to text without sharing any personal details or even names.

When Deacon happens to meet Amelia in a store, he is instantly smitten and without knowing that she is the same woman he is chatting with online, asks her out. While maintaining a highly pleasurable, strictly casual relationship, Deacon is keen to encourage Amelia to consider a real relationship with him. He continues to message her on the dating app, inadvertently finding out personal details about her. When the truth comes out... well, you can imagine.

This was a fun read. I always enjoy Sadler's books and love the Catalpa Creek characters. There are times I wish it was a real place that I could visit. Sadler has already laid the groundwork for the next Sullivan brother to find love and I can't wait!

Amelia is a single mother to 4-year-old Harper, working as an animal control officer. She is all work and no play, except with her daughter. She dreams of becoming a small animal vet, but with limited time and resources, she is content with her current role. Maybe someday when Harper is older……. Amelia’s best friend, Ellery, tells Amelia that she needs a diversion as well as adult fun once in a while, and she insists on setting up a dating profile for Amelia.

Deacon is new to Catalpa Creek, having relocated here with his four other brothers to establish Sullivan Brothers Construction in a new location. His older brother, Sebastian, is running the company and is so stressed out trying to get the business running that Deacon and his brothers are all on edge. Deacon decides that Sebastian needs a distraction from all work and sets up a dating profile for him. Maybe if he can find a match, Sebastian will be less stressed out, taking things out on him and his brothers.

As Deacon messages a match for Sebastian, he is drawn to her and begins to have feelings for her, even though he knows nothing will ever come of it. He then runs into Amelia at the hardware store and is attracted to her immediately, so he offers to build the cat gym she needs. Deacon and Amelia decide to have a no-strings-attached relationship on Amelia’s terms, but Deacon wants more.

Things continue to progress, but will Deacon convince Amelia to want more from their relationship? What will happen with the online dating relationship? Many twists and turns that make this a page turner.

I’ve read all previous Catalpa Creek books so I was thrilled when I got the chance to receive this ARC. However, I must admit I was a little disappointed with this one. Don’t get me wrong, it has the same charming, sweet plot (with a sprinkling of mild spice) and likeable characters as the others, but it felt rushed. I expected the story to pick up from where we left off in the last book, but that’s not the case. This books seems to run parallel to the previous one (Gentry & Levi are not together yet!) and at the beginning one of the chapters (plus a smaller scene later on) is lifted word for word from the previous book, which annoyed me and almost put me off reading the rest of it. I was glad I persevered though as it was a lovely story with interesting and detailed character development, but I don’t understand why the author chose to write it this way. Still looking forward to Cash & Sebastian’s stories though as there’s little hints of where they’re headed throughout the book which I really enjoy.

This is book 2 in Sadler's The Sullivan Brothers series and a wonderful addition to the series that can be read as a standalone. Sadler delivers a wonderful romance read that's captivating and well written. Smooth flowing storyline and characters that will deliver all the feels and great humor too. Main characters are Amelia and Deacon who poses as his brother on a dating app only to find himself drawn to a match. Well, he can't surrender her to his brother after such a dynamic attraction has been made but how to swoop in as himself and claim the girl when she thinks she's been interacting with his bother? A wonderful romance, I absolutely loved it and can't wait for more from Sadler!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review.

Another amazing story by Katharine Sadler. Catalpa Creek is the perfect small town, with romance around every corner. This story was perfect - engaging, great characters, and good overlap with previous books. But don't worry if you haven't read the previous books, it can be read as a standalone.
Deacon was looking for a match for his older brother. But his plan backfired and he fell hard for the mysterious dogperson158. And then he meet Amelia and had an instant connection with her. Deacon is torn and finds himself falling in love with two people - or could they be the same person? I definitely got some You've Got Mail vibes. Such a great story.

I love how Katharine Sadler manages to make every couple’s story so unique. The Sullivan brothers live for meddling in each other’s lives and this one was in the form of Deacon setting up a dating profile for the oldest brother. Amelia wanted nothing even hinting at a relationship. They manage to get paired together twice. This one was a little different because it takes place at the same time as Levi and Gentry’s story from the previous book. As far as I can remember the rest of her books take place one at a time. This one hints at what’s to come for at least 2 of our couples. I can’t wait to see how it all goes down.

I love that Amelia works in animal control! What a great occupation for a FMC! The stories of Amelia on the job are just as amazing as the parts of her romance with Deacon. Seriously. The plot of their meeting on a dating app and then in real life without either knowing that both are the same person is fun and flirty. Coincidence? Hmmmm....

BTW: it's so awesome seeing players from other stories by Katharine Sadler!.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Love Prank

Obviously nothing can go wrong when you pretend to be someone else on a dating app, right?

Amelia is a hardworking single parent only looking for a good time. Her job working for animal control is one of the highlights of this story.

Deacon Sullivan poses as his brother on the dating app in hopes of finding him someone to date. This creates the conflict when Deacon accidently meets Amelia as himself.

Now the fun begins as Amelia and Deacon discover just how small their town really is. This is a fun addition to the Sullivan brother's series. I can't wait to see who's next!
