Warriors of Tavikh #8

Fated to the Alien Scout

Rate this book
Katem

Over many seasons, I have watched my tribe brothers find their keeshlas—their fated mates—amongst the human females that reside on Tavikh. Despite my prayers to the goddess, I worry I will remain lonely and unmated. Until I meet Piper. Her smile is as bright as the sun, but beneath it is a deep sadness. She is not ready to share her secrets with me, but I am a patient male. Especially after a single touch reveals she is my mate. Whatever burdens she carries, I will be there to take them from her.

Piper

Three years. That’s all the longer the doctors gave me, but it’s not nearly enough time. Not wanting to spend what life I have left stuck in bottom-tier Earth, I board a ship to an alien planet. My new home is beautiful. The colors are vibrant, as are the scents. There’s so much more I wish to experience, but I don’t want to do it alone. Maybe Katem—the handsome Tavikhi warrior—would be willing to help me cross things off my list before it’s too late

*There is a guaranteed HEA, but your heart might get broken first.

Note: Some of my goodreads shelves can be spoilers

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Readability: 📖📖📖📖 (It’s a shorter novel, so an easy read)
Feels: 🦋🦋🦋 (very low angst, but the ending grabbed my heart a bit)
Emotional Depth: 💔💔💔 (I am usually wanting more background and character development with these novels)
Sexual Tension: ⚡⚡ (It was just very easy of a relationship, I didn’t feel much tension)
Romance: 💞💞💞💞 (It’s very sweet and easy and gentle)
Sensuality: 💋💋💋
Sex Scene Length: 🍑🍑🍑
Steam Scale (Number of Sex Scenes): 🔥🔥
Humor: A touch
Perspective: first person from both the hero and heroine
More character focused or plot focused? plot
How did the speed of the story feel? medium to fast
When mains are first on page together: immediately
Cliffhanger: No, this ends with a happily ever after for the mains
Epilogue: There is a labeled epilogue but it’s more of a prologue for the next story from Zalik’s POV
Format: voluntarily read an advanced reader copy from the author in e-book form
Why I chose this book: I have been missing alien romance and was happy to see this in my email box!
Mains: Katen and Piper – This is a M/F relationship between an alien hero and human heroine
(Descriptions found at end of my review)

Should I read in order?
I’d say yes – you’ll get to know the characters who intermingle here and get tidbits of world building in each book. For some bonus reading you could start Brides of the Bohnari series too and get to know the characters that visit at the end of this book.

Basic plot:
Katem is ever hoping for a mate, when he meets Piper.

Give this a try if you want:
- science fiction romance
- alien setting – planet Tavikh
- alien hero / human heroine
- protective and gentle hero
- fated mate lines for the hero
- never been kissed hero
- very slice of life, low angst
- low to medium steam – 2 full scenes and some kisses

Ages:
- didn’t catch them

First line:
From my treetop perch, I scan the bari field for any signs of danger or hunters returning with their kills.

My thoughts:
This was a really sweet and easy read.

I have read a number of these in this series now and kind of know what to expect – I would prefer a bit more background on the characters and a bit more relationship angst personally, but I know how the series is running so when I am in the mood for that I find it really hits well.

This is a very ‘slice of life’ romance – there’s nothing really for our characters to overcome except our heroine, Piper’s, internal struggle. And I enjoyed that in this book more than like say...a battle plot or something. I really liked both mains and thought their romance was super sweet. Katen is very gentle and loving and protective. Their relationship is really easy (a bit too easy for me) but I still enjoyed the ride of this story. Daydreaming about that amazing alien technology really does make me smile!

I can't say I'm impressed with Piper. Yet again we get a female lead who is a bit selfish. Look, I get she is dying because of cancer but at the same time she knew before getting involved with Katem and even after she finds out from him what it means being mated to him she still doesn't even hint that they shouldn't be together or that she is dying, not until almost 80% of the damn book is nearly done does she mention it and him being Tavikhi is just like it's fine, I'll journey with you to the afterlife. The two of them are just... infuriating in a way. But again, the Tavikhi males become super simps the moment their tattoos show up so it's not really surprising that he would be so sweet and calm about everything.

I also find it funny that of course because there is suddenly a need for it, magically there is an herb to prevent getting pregnant. Seems rather convenient if you ask me, not to mention a bit stupid considering the Tavikhi only have sex with their fated mates and leave the thoughts of children as a gift from Deeka... to suddenly have this magically herb to prevent pregnancy? Nah, this is just a stupid plot point that the author added for her human females since their voice is the only one that matters and their derpy mates go along with everything because their only purpose is to worship their mates.

It's a rather predictable ending of course because here comes the Bohnari to save the day with their healing pod machine and poof, cancer gone. Why write about it at all? I'm not saying I wanted to see her pass away or anything like that, I'm saying life isn't fair and no one has a magical button to press to make everything ok so if you are going to be brave enough to write about impending death and cancer then at least have the balls to stick the landing. I would've preferred Deeka to step in and save her more than another trip to the healing pod but I guess only Jodah was worthy of that because Sage wouldn't let him die vs Katem who just gave up and was fine with watching her fade away.

The only thing I can say about this book is at least they didn't bang the moment she got out of the healing pod. No, they wait at least a full day before that.

Embracing the life you have

Whew. This book. Was so vey good. Katem and Piper’s heartwarming, alien-human, fated mates, healing romance had me feeling all the big, big feels right along with the MCs. In addition to all the emotions, the book had the perfect mix of humor, love, real life issues, painful pasts, and spice. Piper is a human who has been on the planet Tavikh for approximately a year. She worked in an incineration plant on earth and is dying from lung cancer. Piper’s health makes her angry and afraid but she continues to embrace life. Katem is a Tavikhi warrior and one of the tribe’s scouts. He desperately wants to be blessed with a mate but is afraid it will not happen. He comes upon Piper while she is taking a walk enjoying the plant life. His mating marks are triggered the first time they touch. To get to their HEA there will be baggage unpacking, trust giving, truth telling, and leaps of faith. I loved the way Katem patiently, gently, and beautifully loved Piper exactly how she shows up every day and allowed her to be in control. Everyone needs a Katem in their life. This well written story included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, good world building, and a captivating storyline. This series just keeps getting better.

Fated to the Alien Scout the... *counts* eighth book in the series. For starters, it is stand alone. So even if you haven't read the other you CAN just jump in now. But fair warning it will probably make you want to run back to the beginning. You will meet other characters and couples from previous books so it will give you spoilers of who gets together. But it is a very fun series so it's worth the trip. That being said now, let's talk about THIS BOOK.
FTTAS features Piper a human who wants to live life to its fullest and make friends. A quiet walk leads her to cross paths with Katem who is posted as look-out that day. From then there is a mutual pull toward each other.
Katem is possibly the sweetest alien. He does everything to give space and be patient. While this leads to a slow burn it also let's us see how comfortable the two MC's will be together. While Piper wants to be independent she's not the stubborn kind, except on one thing.
These two are so sweet to each other and I was just on the edge of my proverbial seat waiting to see how things would finally unfold.

A beautifully written, low-angst, high-emotion addition to the Warriors of Tavikh series! Be warned: your heart will break a little, but the Happily Ever After (HEA) is incredibly satisfying!

Katem is a walking green flag. Katem's devotion is immediate, unconditional, and swoonworthy. He is gentle, protective, and determined to give Piper all the experiences and love she desires.

Despite the heartbreaking diagnosis Piper carries, she is determined to embrace life despite her sickness and deep sadness. With Katem's care and support every step of the way.

The story is more slice-of-life than epic adventure, but it allows us to embrace both characters, focus on their emotional journey, and root for their happiness together.

A perfect read for readers looking for a romance with a sweet, gentle, and utterly devoted MMC, a courageous FMC, and a deep emotional connection that earns its HEA, this book delivers while warming your heart—even if it has to break it first.

‼️‼️CHECK CW‼️‼️

Ahh this was such a cute book! I haven’t read the first 7 books (oops) but I found this not hard to understand even without knowing the world building from the first few books! We did get crossover from the Bonari series (which I have been reading from the start) which was super nice to see! I discovered my hoopla library has the first 7 books so I do plan on listening to all of them so I can catch up especially because I plan to continue to read this series!
I love how the aliens at one point believed just simply going for a walk with someone of the opposite gender meant they went on a date that had me dying!
If you love fated mates or alien x human romance you’re going to enjoy this series! I think this series could cure the massive hole that has been left in my heart since finishing Ice Planet Barbarians. Thank you to Erin for having me on your ARC team I really love your books 🥲🥲

Erin Hale has done it again!!! This was sooo good. This story keeps you on the edge of your seat as you go through this emotional journey with Piper and Katem. You find yourself so involved in their journey. These two are so sweet and so deserving of every good thing that comes their way. I loved being able to revisit some of my favourite past characters as well and see how they are all doing. Piper is such a strong woman and when she finds Katem he treats her in the special caring way that she so deserves. I loved every single moment of this read and love that we are still experiencing this special world that Erin has created for us. This is so well-written and the way these two come together is so heart-warming and such a joy to read. This is a definite must read!!! You won't regret picking up this book!!!

If you need a feel good story about a pure hearted alien man that puts all human men to absolute shame, look no further!

Fated to the Alien scout had my heart in a choke hold! In this Warriors of Tavikh novel we get to see sweet and considerate Katem finally meet his goddess chosen mate, Piper. Who like the other FMC in this series, is a human who has travel far from earth for a new start.

I will say that the spice in this book is a little less than some of the others in this series. But, rightfully so. So much of this books is spent getting to know they characters and seeing them work through hardships together. Personally, I'd call fated to the alien scout a slow burn but in the best way possible. There is a HEA! I promise! But be ready to sniffle along the way!

this one ripped my heart out, then bandaged it up

Piper is sick. So sick from living and working in the lower levels that she knows her days are numbered. So she moves to Tavikh to live out what’s left of her days away from the filth of the city.

And then Katem shows up one day, distracting and handsome … and miraculously, he’s her mate. It feels so unfair to stumble upon one’s soulmate at the end of one’s life, especially since she doesn’t wish to taint their remaining days together with pity. Luckily for Piper, Katem isn’t a pushover and he’s also not selfish. Honestly, I don’t know how he manages to be so selfless after knowing his keeshla for a short time. But thank goodness he is, because Piper needs a male like him in her corner.

Four stars.

Is it really a surprise at this point that I'm giving another book in this series 5 stars? 😄

I just love this world and the Tavikhi 🫠😮‍💨 they're just the ultimate green flags that you can't help but fall for.

This is the 8th book of the series but Erin still surprises me with her ability to give something unique to each story. I enjoyed Piper and Katem's journey through navigating a life-threatening disease and an uncertain future.

It is a sweet and emotional story but don't worry, their HEA is just around the corner!

I loved all the books of this series but this one pulled all my heartstrings!
A heartbreaking and heartwarming love story with some sensitive themes that touched me deeply.
Piper has a terminal cancer and wants to enjoy all the time she has left.
Katem, our sweet scout, feels pulled to her from the first look and when they touch his markings flare to life.
Even before he knows about her illness he shows pacient and tender and after he's tireless ,loving and supportive.
A well written story with a deeply sensitivity from the author in a story that made me smile and cry and was utterly unable to put it down until the perfect ending.
Highly recomend!

Erin Hale's Warriors of Tavikth continues with Fated to the Alien Scout. Katem sees a human female coming across the field alone and worries for her safety. He makes sure Piper gets back to the human settlement but can't get her out of his mind. Neither can she forget the handsome warrior, so she begins to travel toward the Tavikth encampment daily. When he hears of her bucket list, he insists on helping her cross items off her list, not realizing she's hiding her cancer. Nothing can keep the two apart for long, and she moves to the native town to be with him. As she gets weaker, news comes that another tribe with a healing pod will be visiting. What a lovely love story.

I love Erin Hale so much 😭😭😭 Every book she puts out I love and I should slow down and savour them but I can't help it! I read them in less than a day! Then I'm left waiting for the next 😅

We've had quite a few spin off series books come out but we are finally back to our original Warriors! This is a short and sweet read, following one of the only single guys left. It was a treat to read and I highly recommend going to binge the whole series right now!!

What this book is packing:

🏺 Fated alien mates
🏺 Bucket list
🏺 Past characters plus lots of babies
🏺 V!rg!n MMC and FMC

This was such a heartwarming addition to the series and I loved getting sucked into all the big feels as Katem and Piper worked their way to a fab HEA. She's got cancer and isn't expected to live long. Katem is desperate for a mate and figures he'll never get one. Of course, they bump into each other and his mating marks light for her... This is a story of trust, truth, patience and spicy romance. There isn't much drama or angst in this one and we get some time with previous characters, which I love. I really enjoyed how this well written romance unfolded, with fab world building and a happy ending for two people that more than deserved it. Good fun!

So happy to have another cinnamon roll Tavikh warrior to swoon over. This was more of a slice of life story than the others but we do get a lot of Piper struggling with an illness and guilt over Katem being mated to her when she doesn't expect to live very long. We got to see more of how the village works and meet more of the Tavikhi people, too.

Their relationship was sweet and sort of relaxed. They didn't rush into anything and let their love bloom slowly. And Katem is there to support Piper in any way she needs. But we wouldn't expect anything less of these lovely alien males!

Piper’s List

Wow! This one had me in my feelings. Piper has lung cancer and decided to fulfill her bucket list before she dies. She knows the end is near and wants to live each day to the fullest. How can fate be so cruel as to send her the awesome, gentle giant alien, Katem? His mating marks appear and while he is full of joy, Piper is elated and angry at the same time. As their bond deepens her health worsens. Ugh, I’m going to stop right here. It was an awesome story, sweet and sad at the same time.

Katem and Piper

Love this series and am glad to see another one coming soon. The Bohnari and Tavikh are allies and trade partners which played a role in this story, but I was confused when Prince Janik came and the comment was made that Prince Alik had stayed behind with his mate and children. Last i read in the Bohnari series he was suffering the effects of not finding his mate and in a holding cell at the palace. Is this a timeline issue? Does Prince Alik have a book or is one coming? Did the Bohnari get the plants from the Tavikh to save him???

This story is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy, fated mates, sci fi romance between male alien hunter and warrior (Katem) and female cancer sufferer (Piper). I enjoyed Katem’s determined focus and devotion, and his willingness to help Piper however he could. I empathised with Piper’s fears, and enjoyed seeing her reach out to achieve her goals. I enjoyed the gently building intimacy. I enjoyed the supportive community surrounding the lead characters.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Fated to the Alien Scout

There's always something comforting when I revisit this world.  The culture of these lavender skinned people is entirely community oriented.  There's a basic formality they speak with that gives every interaction respect and humility.  The MFCs are from a future earth with extreme income inequality so the guys are very healing to the MFC's psychology and helpful in restoring self esteem and identity.  Each book is an example of healthy relationships inside of various circumstances and traumas.

Enjoyed Katem and Piper's journey to their HEA. Piper is determined to get the most out of her life. Dying, she has a bucket list to tackle. Enter Katem, who volunteers to help her fulfill her tasks. Katem is that male you want in your life, loving, considerate, patient, etc. Even knowing that Piper is dying he stays dedicated and supportive. The two are good together.

The story is straightforward, concentrating on the relationship. There will be tears but a HEA will be had.

I really liked this one. Piper and Katem were easy to fall into, and their dynamic kept me hooked the whole way through. Piper’s sharp, honest voice worked for me, and Katem is the kind of calm, dependable hero that just makes sense for her.

The story isn’t super dramatic or high-action, but it moves smoothly and kept my attention. I liked watching them figure each other out, and the softer moments between them felt natural, not heavy. Overall, it was a solid, enjoyable read with characters I genuinely liked spending time with.

Oh what a joyous it is to read this series 🩷 God I love everything about them, the way the men are just so downbad for their keeshla's. You can't compare when it comes to any of Erin Hale's alien men because they are all so in love and will treat their keeshla with so much love. Truly so jealous of this women with their men. It's so heartwarming that we're able to still the couples from the past books be current and get small life updates about them even with the next book being a new couple 🖤🖤 I can't wait to read more about these wonderful men.

Thank you for allowing me an ARC copy!

3/3.5

Not my favorite in the series, but still enjoyable. I liked the MMC - Katem. I was not a fan of Piper (it happens). The plot bothered me a little. Nothing happens, and then all of a sudden, everything happens.

I was still very happy to read a new book from the Warriors of Tavikh. Overall, makes for an easy read. I won't say light because Piper's sickness can still be a trigger for some.

Definitely worth your time if you enjoy the series or just want a marshmallow MMC.

Fated to the Alien Scout by Erin Hale is the 8th story in the Warriors of the Tavikh series. It is a sci-fi fated mates romance with low angst, yet very emotional and of course, a HEA. Piper is lovely, just trying to experience as much of life as she can. Katem…I know I say this with every new book in the series, but he might just be my new favorite! He is just so sweet and wonderful, completely understanding and giving. This is a really good, strong addition to this romantic series!

Heartache Healed!

Beautifully written romance between a patient, loving, male, and his newfound, unexpected mate. Piper (FMC) holds a sorrowful secret. Katem waits patiently until she's ready to open up. Until then, he's determined to help her check things off her (bucket) list. Sweet HEA! Worth the read!

Katem and Piper are absolutely adorable! Katem’s love for Piper was so touching. The men of Tavikh are truly something special—their understanding and respect for each other are incredibly moving. I’m completely hooked. Erin’s writing is beautiful, weaving together yearning, longing, suspense, laughter, and even moments that make you tear up 🥹

Katem and Piper. I love how supportive he is and while I understand why she wouldn’t want to tell him that she’s sick, she should’ve done it earlier than she did. But I’m happy they figured things out.

Good read!

I enjoyed this one, series so far has been very interesting. I was worried when I started this as I kept reading having to do with the MFC but I was very happy with the outcome. I looking forward to the next book.💖
