My rental cabin is beautiful, remote, and close to nature. Too bad the listing didn’t mention the place also comes with a giant, grumpy mountain man.
Sophie
My short-term rental is a cozy cabin tucked away deep in the mountains of Courage County. It comes with a stunning view of the mountain ridge, acres of beautiful forest to hike, and a very grumpy mountain man of my own to explore.
I wasn’t expecting the quiet mountain man with the steely gaze and brooding demeanor. He claims this is his cabin, and he swears he didn’t rent it to me. But he’s not making me leave. I already paid my deposit.
Even when he starts playing ridiculous pranks on me in an effort to scare me off, I refuse to go. If anything, I have a few tricks for him.
Whiskey
I don’t care about her rental agreement. I never wanted a roommate. I certainly never put up my cabin for rent. But the stubborn curvy girl has no intention of leaving, not even when I offer to pay for her lodging elsewhere.
This little ball of sunshine is determined to stay right by my side. That’s just fine by me. I’ll figure out a way to make her leave. One way or another, I’ll convince her that this cabin is haunted. She’ll run screaming back home in no time.
I’m definitely not going to kiss her in front of the fire or start wishing she’d stay forever. Things like that aren’t meant for brooding mountain men like me.

This was a cute forced proximity romance. It was a short story with a good flow. I liked the storyline, it was cute but with a touch of heavier elements. Sophie and Whiskey had a rocky beginning but in the end they had such a strong connection. I enjoyed the story.

She came to the mountains to heal. He never thought he could be saved.
Sophie’s done hiding from her past. After surviving something that shook her world, she heads to a quiet mountain cabin with her kitten, Tobias, hoping to find peace and focus on training for her 5K. What she doesn’t expect is a huge, gruff man who’s already living there, one who looks at her like she’s both a mistake and a miracle.
Whiskey’s spent years alone in the woods, keeping his demons at bay with hard work, solitude, and his loyal dog, Bella. The last thing he needs is a city girl invading his quiet life. But Sophie’s warmth gets under his skin, and her stubborn courage sparks something in him he thought was long gone.
What starts as annoyance turns into uneasy friendship and something deeper neither can ignore. The cabin walls that once separated them become a refuge as they learn to let each other in, one fragile moment at a time. Together, they find that healing takes more than time, it takes trust, honesty, and the strength to stay when it would be easier to run.
They both change in ways they never imagined. Sophie faces her fears head-on, finding her strength again, while Whiskey learns that love doesn’t make him weak, it makes him whole. Their connection grows from tension to tenderness, from silence to shared laughter, and soon the mountain isn’t just where they live, it’s where they belong.
A steamy, small town, mountain man, curvy girl, grumpy sunshine, forced proximity, fall romance exploring healing, love after loss, vulnerability, growth, trust, self-discovery, and belonging. It’s a simmer to steam, emotionally charged story of two broken souls finding strength and solace in each other, proving that healing isn’t about erasing the past but rebuilding with someone who sees every scar and stays.
The Elevator Pitch: A woman searching for peace and a brooding mountain man crash into each other’s worlds, turning a quiet cabin into the start of something wild and unexpected. What begins as tension and teasing soon ignites into a fierce, tender love that neither saw coming. Steamy, emotional, and full of heart, it’s a story about finding the one person who makes the wilderness feel like home.
Imagine trudging home after a long, grueling day working in the forest only to discover an unexpected roommate waiting in your cabin. That’s enough to rattle anyone, but when you’re a broody, reclusive mountain man, it’s downright catastrophic. Whiskey has spent the last three years tucked away in solitude, clinging to the quiet to keep his ghosts at bay. The last thing he needs is a gorgeous, curvy witch and her black cat, Tobias, moving in. But Sophie’s not budging. She’s paid her deposit for a month in this cabin, fair and square. She’s here to find some inner peace and train for her first 5K. No matter his protests, she’s staying put. What follows is a battle of wills that’s equal parts adorable and hilarious. Whiskey’s attempts to scare Sophie off are about as subtle as a moose on roller skates (and twice as endearing), while Sophie’s clever payback is pure perfection—trust me, she wins that round hands down. Yet, amid the hijinks and stubbornness, something tender begins to bloom. The reluctant roommates start to find comfort in each other’s company: Sophie’s presence softens Whiskey’s edges, and her warmth starts to melt the ice around his heart. Both are haunted by their pasts, but together, they discover that healing isn’t about forgetting, it’s about finding someone who sees every scar and chooses to stay anyway. I especially loved how Sophie helps Whiskey see that his family’s love would never waver, no matter how much he felt he’d changed. Overall, this is a charming, heartwarming story of love, laughter, and second chances. A gentle reminder that even the most broken hearts can find their way home. Sophie ends up in Courage County for the Holidays. She ends up stopping at Emma May’s grocery store, while her little kitten is in his travel carrier. They are there because she is going to a cabin that is tucked away in the mountains there. She never would’ve imagined that such a beautiful place would be available for a month and be in her budget. Since she is plus sized, she is happy and confident in her body and wears what she wants to. Her mother works on a zombie apocalypse show, and thus she is paranoid on people becoming reliant too much on technology. Plus, her mom is a riot. lol. Once she reaches the cabin, she finds out that there is someone else there, Whiskey. She produces the paperwork, but he has already called in the deputy. However, her paperwork, does allow her to be there and thus it is legal. Whiskey is beyond upset as it is his place. Whiskey is lumberjack and a Marine. His dog, Bella is a Bernese Mountain dog. I love the animals, they are just so cute together. They automatically make friends. unlike Whiskey & Sophie. Seeing other people from the previous books was great. I love everything that happens in Courage County books. They are so good, and this book is the same. After arguing, talking and adjusting that they are stuck with each other, Sophie & Whiskey actually realize that they find the other hot. The book is fun, funny, cute, sweet, romantic, steamy, and I so needed the AC on. As time goes on, we learn a few things and I sat there laughing the whole time. The end was awesome. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

If you’re looking for warmth, healing, and a gruff-mountain-man with a soft heart, The Mountain Man’s Sweet Treat by Mia Brody delivers in spades. Sophie flees her past and heads to a quiet cabin — only to find that it “comes with a giant, grumpy mountain man” named Whiskey.
From the moment Sophie moves in with her kitten Tobias and meets Whiskey, the tension, the humor, the growth and the steam all build beautifully: Sophie’s stuck, courageous, healing; Whiskey’s solitary, wounded, protective. The way their relationship shifts from annoyance to friendship to love is so satisfying that I couldn’t help smiling (and sighing) at each turn.
What I absolutely loved:
Sophie’s journey of self-discovery and healing is genuine and heartfelt.
Whiskey’s transformation from brooding loner to man who knows love doesn’t make him weak — it makes him whole.
The forced-proximity cabin setting is cozy but loaded with emotional stakes, humor and a real sense of belonging.
The writing style is perfect for this genre: sweet, steamy, full of emotion and just the right amount of gruff alpha.
Honestly, I found nothing major to ding here. It might be “safe” in the sense that it hits many of the tropes you love (curvy heroine, mountain man, healing after loss), but it does them really well. If you love fall or holiday-ish romances with big hearts, this one’s a winner.
Verdict: A deeply satisfying, feel-good romance that wraps you in the mountains and doesn’t let go. I’m giving it a full 5 out of 5 stars.
This is book 3 in the author’s Courage County Holidays series and features Whiskey, a former Marine (yeah, yeah, I know, there’s no such thing as an ex Marine but he’s no longer active military and I didn’t know how else to say it), living alone in his mountain cabin for three years, hiding from his friends and family since coming home a different person than when he left.
When a curvy little witch and her black kitten show up as if to take up residence in HIS home for a month—complete with a contract and receipts for an unauthorized rental—Whiskey has a fit and calls the sheriff to drag her out. Imagine his surprise when it doesn’t actually bother him in the least when the sheriff says she has the right to stay until it can be decided in court!
Sophie really needed this time away—quiet…peaceful…no distractions—to recenter herself while training for a 5k run to benefit PTSD victims. Something she herself was only too familiar with and still trying to recover from. Maybe spending the month with Whiskey wouldn’t be so bad after all, I mean, he IS really hot and he looks like he’s had his share of the same pain she’s been experiencing.
I’ve been loving these Courage County men, they’re sweet, a little socially awkward but unashamed to let the world and its brother know how much they love their women. Sound like something you might enjoy? You need to check it out. 4.5 stars.

Sophie is heading to a rented cabin for a break after, well, and to train for a 5k. It will be her first and she's determined that it will set the precedent for her new life, her new beginning. She's ready to relax after her long trip until she hears a strange and very male voice with her in the kitchen. What does he mean this is his cabin, his land and his mountain?! Whiskey can't believe that the beautiful woman is in his cabin claiming, with legal looking paperwork, that she rented it. Legally, he can't make her leave for one month. One look at her and the ex Marine knew he was in trouble. After the nightmare of his military service, he needs all the peace that he can get. He'll just have to scare her off. Man, did he pick the wrong woman to try to scare! They soon fall into an easy routine and enjoy each other's company. Soon, they both realize that the past holds nightmares for both of them and that they have other things in common as well. These two were a hoot! Funny with companionship that leads to finding they can have love and peace of mind along with sweet heat. I enjoyed these two very much. This review is my opinion and is not AI generated.

*The Mountain Man’s Sweet Treat* is the second book in the delightful Courage County Holiday series! Sophie is ready to embark on a new adventure, and her first goal is to complete her very first 5K run. To kick off her training, she rents a cozy, remote cabin with breathtaking views and fantastic hiking trails. Little does she know, she’ll soon run into a grumpy but charming lumberjack named Whiskey, who insists he’s the owner of the cabin and tells her she’s trespassing!
Since Sophie has all her paperwork in order, Whiskey finds himself stuck with an unexpected roommate for the next 30 days. As the week goes by, these two begin to get to know one another, opening up about their pasts and slowly breaking down their walls. This sharing helps them both heal from their past traumas, and as they navigate their first experiences together, they form a deeper connection.
Returning to Courage County is always a treat! The author does an amazing job crafting unique love stories that are wonderfully tied together. You can’t help but fall for Whiskey and Sophie and their sweet, heartfelt journey together!

This was so sweet!! Oh my gosh, I wish I could be in a county like this one!! This is such a supportive community, a loving one with happiness and sunshine and love. This is a comforting area and a comforting story. Mia has been writing these cozy stories that have so much heart, I love it. Her writing style is entertaining and there is never a dull moment. I feel drawn into this story as I do with literally every single story of hers that I have had the pleasure of reading.
She rented this cabin. But he didn't rent it to her and after thinking about it...does he really want her gone?
And of course that answer is no! These two are a great pairing. I liked them both, they genuinely believe they have flaws and that us just not so! They are great people ad the chemistry they have was funny and then sweet and steamy. I appreciate the support of this county's residents and wish everyone could have so much support in their lives. Everything I felt here was so beautiful, the characters, the chemistry, the plot and the writing. Mia's stories are so comforting for me and I appreciate the care she puts into each and every one. A lovely read!

Whiskey & Sophie's story was another great addition to the Courage County Series. Sophie rents a remote cabin in Courage County in need of a reset and to train for an upcoming 5K. What she doesn't expect is to be greeted by a grumpy mountain man who claims he owns the cabin and wants her gone. Whiskey just wants to live in solitude on his mountain in peace. Too bad the little witch Sophie and her black cat aren't going anywhere, at least for the next 4 weeks.
I loved the bits of Halloween and Fall integrated into the story. Especially the ghost bride! Sophie's revenge on Whiskey is absolute perfection!! They fall into an easy routine that feels quite domesticated. Whiskey soon realizes he doesn't want Sophie to leave, ever.
Both had past trauma that helped their bond. They realized they could lean on each other while also helping the other person. They became each others safe place. There was some definite heat between these two, I mean who doesn't love a Double Virgin Trope!!!!
Sophie heads to a rented mountain cabin for some peace, a bit of self-discovery, and to train for her very first 5K. She’s ready for quiet… until a deep male voice in the kitchen informs her that this is his cabin, his land, and his mountain.
Whiskey, an ex-Marine still carrying the scars of his service, can’t believe this beautiful stranger is claiming to have rented his place—and with paperwork that looks completely legit. Legally, he can’t make her leave for a month, so his only plan is to scare her off. Unfortunately for him, Sophie is not easily intimidated.
What follows is a delightful mix of humor, stubbornness, and unexpected companionship as these two find themselves falling into an easy rhythm together. Beneath their banter, both are wrestling with painful pasts—and learning that maybe peace, laughter, and even love are possible again. These two were an absolute hoot! I loved the chemistry, the warmth, and the gentle healing woven through their story. Sweet, funny, and full of heart—with just the right touch of heat. Highly recommend!
I enjoyed this story just as much as I enjoy all of Mia Brody's work. This story ' The Mountain Man's Sweet treat is about a woman who has rented a mountain cabin for a month only to arrive and find it is already occupied by the owner who knows nothing about it being put up for rent. Even so, Sophie decides she has paid the rental price and she will stay. After a few days, Whiskey has decided that he is no longer upset about it because he is starting to enjoy this pretty woman's company. He had been living a solitary life for three years, ever since he got back from the war and Sophie is the first person that he doesn't mind being around. Sophie herself is recovering from a traumatic experience, and she finds Whiskey's company to be soothing. They still don't know who rented out the cabin, but they are beginning to be grateful. It was such a nice story .

Sophie and Whiskey’s story is sweet, funny and poignant with a good bit of heat too. He is surprised to see her in his cabin and then learn that she has a rental agreement for a month stay. He insists she needs to leave, but even the deputy he called in agrees with her that her rental agreement is valid. Whiskey’s attempt to scare her into leaving is unsuccessful and he soon finds himself enjoying her company. Right from their first encounter, they feel the attraction between them but both are carrying some heavy emotional baggage due to past trauma and are not in the right headspace to think about acting on it. Being on the mountain brings them both peace and starts to heal their wounded souls. Eventually, they reveal their trauma to each other as well as their growing feelings for each other. Sophie decides the quieter life on the mountain is what she wants for her life now, and Whiskey is more than happy for her to stay.
She is excited to have her very own mountain vacation. The ad for the cabin looked absolutely perfect. When she pulls up it is even more than she imagined, but a few minutes later the grumpy mountain man bursts in and is not happy to find her in his house. He says he never rented it, but someone booked it and took her money so she isn’t going anywhere. They have a little back and forth trying to scare the other into leaving before they figure out that there just might be room for both of them. I am a big Mia Brody fan, if you haven’t read her cowboy series, run don’t walk to grab it. This one was a little more chaotic to me. I get the fun aspect of the joking but it didn’t flow well for me and I missed really feeling their tension and excitement as the games wore on. They did have good chemistry in Brody fashion and of course their happily ever after is everything you want for them.

Two people who have been traumatized by something they have lived through. Thrown together through a “bogus rental” for a month in a mountain home. Sophie is wanting to train for a 5k race and rented this home in the mountains as a get away to heal from her trauma as well as train for the race. She has already fallen in love with the small town at first site. Once in the cabin, she meets Whiskey who is the owner and he definitely didn’t rent his home. I found myself laughing at the tactics Whiskey went through to try to get Sophie out from calling the Deputy as well as the ghost story. As they spend more time together, they begin to open up about their need for solitude and healing. This book was a great read that I really enjoyed!.

Sophie and her kitten, Tobias, are in Courage County heading to a cabin she rented for a month on the mountain. It was all done online but she had the paperwork with her. The cabin was great. She walked in and went to the kitchen to feed Tobius. Whiskey walked in and asked what she was doing in his cabin. Sophie insisted this was her cabin for the next month and he needed to leave. He said he wasn't leaving his own cabin. He called the deputy sheriff to have her removed. But when he saw her paperwork, he said she had a right to stay. So they became roommates. They found that being together felt comfortable. They worked together, ran together, and found they fell in love with each other. This was a great story of two people who have suffered trauma finding strength in being together. I really enjoyed this book.

Witchy Vibes, Mountain Man, and All the Fall Feels 🍂
Mia Brody did it again with The Mountain Man's Sweet Treat! I loved the cozy seasonal touches... autumn, Halloween, a little witchy vibe... and of course, grumpy mountain man Whiskey (aka Tobias 😍) who falls hard for sweet Sophie.
Both of them have felt lost in different ways, but finding each other brought them back to life. Sigh... and I’m a sucker for that kind of love. The steam? Perfect. The sweetness? Even better.
And can we talk about the twist with Whiskey’s mom? Not a mistake after all, just a matchmaking mama with great taste. I swear, I wish Courage County were real... I’d be up in the mountains looking for my own soft-hearted grump.
5 stars from me. I’m obsessed.

My first thought was “Dang, someone is playing matchmaker. This is going to be good.” and I was right. I was only 20 pages in, and I couldn't stop laughing and blushing. Laughing because come on a wooden spoon as a weapon and a legally binding contract that won't get her to leave his domain, and blushing because he may be saying he wants her gone, but his thoughts are all going in the opposite direction. The pranks between the two MC’s were beyond hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing, what started out as a scary story trying to get Sophie to leave quickly turned into their favorite pastime and I loved reading every second of it. Also, who does that on a first date? I mean Swoon, but dang that took my breath away 😂.

The Mountain Man’s Sweet Treat is so beautifully written and absolutely heartwarming. Filled with sassy spirit and healing souls, this novella is a must. I adore Whiskey and Sophie so much—from their first meeting filled with drama and spice to their tender moments where they choose to open their hearts and truly see each other, I was completely enraptured by this brave and beautiful woman who carries so much and still has compassion for others. With all the feels and two sweet floofs, this story made me laugh, cry, and everything in between. When I pick up a Mia Brody book I know I’m getting an emotional read and a satisfying end filled with caring and devoted community. So good!

A wonderful fall holiday read with plenty of humor as Sophie headed to Courage County to train for a 5K run. She rented mountain cabin for a month to run the hiking trails around it, but when she got there she found it occupied by Whiskey. He demanded she leave, but she was stubborn enough to stand against him. Local law enforcement agreed she had a legal rental agreement. They were stuck together for thirty days. Whiskey tried to scare her off, but she did not fall for his tricks only ranked him back. It was an exciting beginning what was to come was the biggest surprise of all.

Mia Brody captures the perfect blend of humor, heart, and heat in this delightful Halloween romance. Sophie and Whiskey’s story had me laughing one moment and melting the next—her stubborn sunshine meets his grumpy, prank-playing mountain man in the best possible way. The setting feels vivid and festive, and the chemistry between them is irresistible. A cozy cabin, a touch of mischief, and a whole lot of heart—this is the perfect short read for anyone who loves small-town charm with a seasonal twist!.

This is book number 2 of the Courage County Holidays and focuses on Whiskey and Sophie. Sophie is in Courage County for the month to train for a race while healing from a traumatic experience. She rents a cabin in the mountains for her time in town to train and recharge. What she doesn't expect is a roommate. When she gets there she discovers that Whiskey's cabin had been rented out to her without his knowledge. The two of them initially clashed but it didn't take long for them to crave each other's company and the peace they bring each other. This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

Mountain Man Romance. Sophie is a young woman who went to the mountains to recover from a trauma. However, she didn't expect the cabin to be delivered with a roommate. This beautiful but grumpy mountain man is determined to scare her. Whiskey is a man who returned to live in the mountains, lost after serving in the army. He didn't think his calm would be disturbed by a beautiful woman who claims to have rented his cabin. He then decides to do everything to make her leave, including scaring her with ghosts. Will Sophie and Whiskey have a beautiful story or will Whiskey manage to scare Sophie...

Sophie needed to get away from it all and rents a cabin in Courage County. What she does not expect is the grumpy mountain man that claims this is his cabin and he did not rent it out. Whiskey just wants to be alone in his house and calls the local sheriff. When Sophie's paperwork seems to be in order, they are stuck sharing the cabin for the next thirty days.
Whiskey tries to pull pranks on her, pretending there is ghost to get her to leave. Sophie just finds his attempts amusing, and thus starts the pranks back and forth.

Whiskey meets Sophie when she rents his cabin for a month thinking she would have it all to herself. Whiskey tries to get her thrown out but the contract she is is proof she rented it. At first Whiskey thinks he can scare her out but no way is she leaving. This cabin feels like home even if he does own it. Whiskey and Sophie are a great couple with chemistry off the charts. This is such a well written sweet and steamy love story. It's a feel good read with laughs and some tears and I loved it.

After a traumatic experience, Sophie started training for a 5k charity run. She rents a cabin up in the mountains because of the running trails around it will help with her training. Whiskey never rented out his cabin, especially while he lives there. Now he's stuck with a roommate for the next month. But that may just be enough time to overcome his own trauma.
A witty short novella that has heat and steaminess, a sassy curvy woman, a sexy injured ex-military lumberjack, and a ghost?! I enjoyed the laughs.

Sophie has suffered a terrible ordeal and needs to heal therefore retreats to a rented cabin in the mountain, only the man she allegedly rented it from has no idea who she is. Whiskey is the ex marine also dealing with trauma, he likes being on his own fighting his own demons but Sophie’s presence has him thinking his life choices. They have chemistry and they begin to heal each other. An emotional and beautiful love story that deals with losses, family and healing. This was witty and steamy. Great MCs and surrounding characters specially Emma May, can’t wait for the next book.
I absolutely LOVED it!!! I’ve been dying for Whiskey’s story and it didn’t disappoint!! Whiskey and Sophie are so perfect together!! Both having dealt with traumatic events, which was so heartbreaking, they helped each heal which was so beautiful 🩷 The chemistry between them was so intense! The smexy times were hot as hades🥵🥵🥵 I’m obsessed with this wonderful world Mia has created and I can’t wait for more!!!!! Highly highly recommend this amazing book!!!.

I really like the book about whiskey and Sophia. Synopsis of the book is a lot hotter than it is. It’s a slow burn, but when you get there, you’ll be very satisfied. I was a little disappointed that they made whiskey who was a marine virgin.. that made it unbelievable to me, but it is just a fantasy. if you can be patient to wait for the good stuff you’ll be very satisfied. There’s a couple of surprises in the book that I won’t give away, but it makes it fun..

I love a book set in Fall and this one doesn't disappoint. Mia does a really good job of describing Courage County in Autumn, almost like you could feel the crisp air. Sophie has been through a lot and rents a cabin on the mountain, unaware someone else already lives there, and definitely didnt rent it out. These two eventually find what they both need in each other. Another great read from Mia.
