Audacious is book 4 of Jade Eby's Back to Bad series. This book continues where book 3, Malicious, left off.
Lacey Caldez commands power. Desires control. She thrives on the thrill of being bad and taking what she wants when she wants it. But it's a long fall from the top of the world. And this hunter is now being hunted. Events take a turn for the worse. Lacey is still with Jose, her bad boy love interest and together they find themselves in some sticky situations. Not for one moment does Lacey think she will be outsmarted.

description

"Oh, stop being so serious," I whisper. "We're gonna get out of here once I figure out what they want with us." He sneers at me. "All hail Queen Lacey." "King Lacey," I spit back. "Queen's don't do shit but sit there and make the King look good. So, I guess it would be Queen Jose, wouldn't it?"

Lacey suffers a major setback when the only person she cares about in her life is in danger of suffering because of her actions. Lacey is actually showing some remorse!

description

"I hold her hand in mine. "All I wanted was to save you. To get us out of here and now… everything's ruined because of me." She squeezes as much as she can. "I for-give y-y-you." Shaking my head I squeeze her hand tighter. "I'm unforgivable. This… is unforgivable." Her frail, petite fingers twitch again. "You'll be okay," she whispers."

I'm very interested to see how the author is going to finish this series with book 5!!

I really wish this was just all one book. It feels like one long, continuous chapter.

Well, Lacey is back at it again—wrestling with her demons and trying to figure out if there are others worth caring about and saving. The latest short story in the Back to Bad series, "Audacious", picks up right where "Malicious" left off. Even though I only read "Malicious" a few short months ago, I had to go back and read the last few pages to jog my memory as I was a bit foggy on where I last left Lacey and Jose.

While there is great forward movement in Lacey's story in "Audacious", I feel, the closer we get to the conclusion of the story that Lacey is losing a bit of her bite. However, I suppose you can only get kicked in the teeth so many times before you start to think, "Perhaps I should get a bit of help in trying to confront the demons (real and psychological) in my life."

I always want more Lacey by the time I get to the end of one of the Back to Bad short stories. I envy the late adopters to this series because they will be able to read all 5 stories back-to-back at break neck speed. While I did enjoy this latest installment, I wouldn't mind if the later stories were longer and provided a bit more of a wrap up. As a reviewer, it is getting more difficult to judge each story as a stand alone without a bit of a conclusion at the end of each installment.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for a honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Audacious starts off where Malicious ended and anyone who read that KNOWS what happened!!!!

I'm SOOOOO grateful I got an ARC copy of this because I really couldn't wait until it released. I'm impatient. I know. :D

Lacey and Jose have someone after them. That's no secret. This book will answer some questions and have you dying for the next one! I can't say more because of spoilers (trust me, it'll ruin it for you and I'm not mean) so I'll go with, start this series because it's a MUST!

Holy crap that was intense!!!! LOVED IT!! I want the rest of the story nowwwww!!!

Audacious = another perfect word to describe our heroine! Confident, bold, surprising, shocking and in this installment we see glimpses of Lacey's heart.

I cannot even begin to guess how the wonderfully talented Jade Eby will wrap up this series in only one more book! But I will wait on pins and needles to see what she comes up with!
