Julius Fast was an American author of both fiction and nonfiction. In 1946 he was the first recipient of the Edgar Award given by the Mystery Writers of America for the best first novel of 1945.
Other than whatever aspects of the Beatles' origins, evolution and lives up to around '68 interest you, this is a piece of crap. Sloppy, mistake-ridden (he thought Paul wrote I Am the Walrus...gets a lyric in Day Tripper wrong, etc.), and this edition has many stupid typos and omissions and one error that completely reverses the intended meaning of a key point. I would say Fast wasn't even much of a fan of the music, let alone one who was swept up in the magic of the band. There is also a lot of over-analyzation of the music, all of which I've no doubt Paul, John and George would shake their heads at. Even the cover -- took me a couple seconds to figure out which was George and which was Paul.
