Loved this small-town romance from Lucy Castle. Cole was such a sweetheart, and his cute interactions with Xaden had me grinning from cheek to cheek. Although second-chances were a big part of the story, there was mystery, blackmail, and intrigue, family issues, friendships, and the whole drama that can be found when parents at school try to get one up on each other.
The setting of the story, the town of Baywood, was described well, as were the characters who reside there. I wanted to eat some of Earl's buns so badly!

The setting of the story, the town of Baywood, was described well, as were the characters who reside there. I wanted to eat some of Earl's buns so badly!

Just wrapped up Something You Like by Lucy Castle and I’m still grinning like an idiot. Honestly? This book is small-town charm bottled up with a side of flashback feels, single-dad sweetness, and that delicious bad boy meets golden boy tension.

This is such a cute little small town romance. Cole and Xaden have such an adorable romantic relationship, the end of the book was perfect for them!

My first MM romance and it was so cute!
I enjoyed the short chapters and the flashbacks which were so sweet, exploring the shyness, awkwardness and want of first love.
The MCs are still pretty young, but they have a true love deep connection that was a pleasure to read about.
The story sometimes lacks depth, I would have loved to see more details but I like my books very detailed, however it reads very smoothly.
Overall I really enjoyed it and I'm so happy I got to read it.

This is a book I won’t stop recommending for years, I will mention it every chance I get.
I thought it was a cute small-town romance with second chance, but it snuck up on me. It had so much more! Mystery, family issues, friendship, heartbreak, blackmail and secrets are just a few other things this book delivers. Not to mention how funny it is, I laughed out loud several times. This is a book that gives you several layers, not just sunshine and smiles. You’ll feel the sadness, the ache, the frustration and the anger with both Cole and Xaden.
The absolute best thing about this book is seeing both of their hardships and still having the will to grow, together and separately, despite threats from the outside. They choose each other continuously and that’s so beautiful and strong. Throughout the book it stays realistic and admirable. It impresses me how they can set the past to the side when it matters, and how mature they are about it when needed. But I must admit that I love their banter when it’s not as urgent.
Another thing I loved is the flashbacks, it gave such depth and made me love them even more. It was so cute and had me smiling so much my cheeks hurt. It also made me appreciate Xanden’s tattoos a whole lot more. So beautiful, I’m in love with the idea. For many it’s just tattoos, for me it’s a permanent map of love, longing, understanding and memories well loved. It’s also hope of what might be in the future.
This book have little spice but don’t let that scare you away. Cole is so shy and adorable, it is absolutely perfect and even realistic. Having that in mind, it also shows us another mature side of Xaden, even as a younger version. The understanding, the patience, the love he has for Cole is incredible.
Lastly I just have to say that Noah is the book’s little gem. I love him so much. His witty comments and bravery is just the cutest. He’s also kind, full of love, and so smart.

I loved ‘Something You Like’ by Lucy Castle, the 2MMCs have beautiful POVs. Both are adorable in their pining.
Cole is the sweetest dad and I love the responsibility he takes. The support he receives from his friends and town is #goals.
Xaden is the “bad boy with a heart of gold” and it hurts when some people don’t treat him like the nice guy he is.
I usually stay away from music based books because reading lyrics is hyper-cringe for me (no shade to others, it’s a personal problem) and I was so grateful I didn’t have to face that in this book.
I love how the author, Lucy Castle, writes her character from Finland (where the author is from). It’s a wonderful juxtaposition to the American characters.
I could see bits of myself in nearly all the characters. Which to me shows how thought out they each were, no one is really tertiary.
I also often avoid books with children as the kids generally seem ‘stock’ and are not often treated as humans with personalities. I have to say this is legitimately the first book I’ve read with a kid where the kid is an individual. He is so funny and exceptionally real, and everyone treats him like a human! Truly Exceptional!
This book makes me want to live in a town like this with too many festivals- like Stars Hollow in The Gilmore Girls does.

"Something You Like" by Lucy Castle is a book that made me feel like I was one of the residents of Baywood. I love that kind of small town charm, it felt like visiting Gilmore Girls and She wrote a Murder mixed together (because apart from romance we get a little mystery to solve). I haven't read a romance combined with suspense in a while and I'm glad I had the opportunity to read it again, because I was hooked from the beginning. The author introduces a multitude of interesting characters who make us laugh as we eagerly await the development of the love story between Xaden and Cole, after Xaden's come back to hometown. The funny elements are well balanced with the more difficult themes covered in the story. My heart broke a little as I read what Xaden was dealing with. I'm glad he found the closure he needed and fought for the love he thought he'd lost. Cole has created a wonderful home for himself and his son, along with the friends around him, especially Caspian. I fell in love with this charming goofball. I need to know the rest of his story, please.
This was a perfect story to start the fall season with a cup of coffee and blanket on your knees. I can't wait to see what else the author has in store for us.

Where do I start with this book? I loved everything about it and found myself smiling as I read it.
I want to move to Baywood - the town that is always having some sort of gala whether it’s music, pies or dinosaurs; and I’d packed with lovable characters like baker, Earl with his cinnamon buns and the sudoku sisters, Dorothy and Deliah.
Moving on to our protagonists, Cole and Xaden. I am completely in love with both of them. Cole with his awkwardness and lovable personality and Xaden with his natural swagger and huge heart. I was rooting for them from the word go and was so pleased they got their HEA and got become a family with Cole’s 4 year old son, Noah.
This book isn’t just a story about a lovely, little town full of lovable characters, it is also a tale of mystery and intrigue as Xaden and Cole join forces to bring down the bad guy and uncover secrets that have been hidden for years.

For a debut novel I really enjoyed this book! It was quirky, it was sweet, it was intriguing and mysterious and had JUST enough angst to keep you invested without completely obliterating your heart in the process 🥰.
It wasn't as spicy as I'm used to BUT where it lacks in spice it makes up for in swoony romance between MC's and hilariously quirky side characters that will literally have you wondering WTF and laughing out loud at the same time 🤣😍.
Cole was such a sweet character, and I loved his relationships with his friends Caspian & Jørgen! I certainly cannot wait to read more about them 😈...please let there be more about them 🙏🫶.

Call it “bread” poetry, call it emotional carbs — whatever the term is, Lucy Castle baked a story that’s soft, funny, warm, and quietly thrilling all at once. It sneaks up on you and wraps itself around your heart before you even realize what’s happening.
Cole and Xaden? They conquered my heart within the first lines. Their ability to make me grin at my Kindle like a fool? Completely unmatched.
And Noah — listen, anyone who loves dinosaurs with the same chaotic enthusiasm I do automatically gets VIP status in my reader heart. I was cheering for all of them like my life depended on it.

I absolutely loved Something You Like, and honestly, I wasn’t ready for how much this book would pull me in. It’s one of those reads where you settle in thinking, "I’ll just read a few chapters", and then suddenly you’re way deeper than planned and fully emotionally invested.
I loved the characters, I loved their dynamic, and I loved watching Cole and Xaden's relationship develop as the story unfolded. There were so many moments where I caught myself smiling and giggling, and I was rooting so hard for these characters the whole time! The writing flows beautifully, the dialogue feels natural, and everything unfolds at a pace that keeps you hooked without ever dragging. I never felt disconnected or bored, I just wanted to keep going and spend more time with these characters.
By the time I reached the end, I had that happy, slightly sad feeling you get when a great book is over and you’re not quite ready to leave the world yet. Something You Like was such an enjoyable romance and an easy five-star read for me. I’ll absolutely be reading more from Lucy Castle!

Welcome to Baywood, where small town definitely doesn't mean small personalities. I love a book where all the characters have MC energy. It means there is soooo much more to look forward to. Something you like follows the return of the towns heart throb and bad boy Xaden, and Cole, the one he left behind. It's a duel POV with flashbacks that will have you Awwwwing out loud 🫠 and wondering why someone hasn't ever asked you if you want a room temperature glass of milk. 🤨 seriously, it's not asking for much!
It's funny, it's emotional and will have you rooting for them from the very beginning!
Also, I'm just saying, but if you don't find yourself absolutely adoring Ann-Sabrina too, then i don't think we can be friends.
I can not wait for next book!

Cole has tried to move on, raising his son on is own, trying to forget his first love, Xaden. When Xaden unexpectedly returns to their small town, the two can not manage to stay away from each other. There are still secrets between them, and apologies that need to be made. The small town itself has an unsolved crime, quirky characters, and an hint of danger. This adds layers of complexity. One thing remains true through it all, gravity seems to pull these two men together. I was rooting for them and really enjoyed the story of Cole and Xaden! It was a quick and easy read for me that I definitely recommend!

My usual type of genre is thriller but I like to give anything a go. Baywood reminds me of a quirky little village near me, with just as many hilarious characters.
And some of their names are just fabulous, a personal favourite is Harold Bramble.
I could feel the chemistry between Xaden and Cole coming off the page. Some parts had me blushing as if I was Cole, be prepared to fan yourself.
This is a modern day love story with some spice, I'd recommend giving it a read as you won't be disappointed!

I read this book while on a cruise and could not put it down! Something You Like is a lovely small town MM love story. Gives off a Hallmark feel, but with a twist (the reason why Xanden left). The way the author writes leaves me rooting for the characters to have at it with the second chance romance. Highly recommend!

I love MM romance and this one is contemporary. Cole and Xaiden (love the name btw) are so cute together. I liked Cole just a little more as he is more relatable. If you want a thicc romance book to lose yourself in, this is the one!

Cole is amazing mmc but Xaden? He stole my heart from the first pages. 🔥 Also, he might be the swooniest swooner and the flirtiest flirt ever. No wonder Cole kept blushing around him!
Ps. Baywood is a hilarious small town. Slightly unhinged baker and his Finnish "pen pal" made me snort coffee from my nose.

A well-written romance is a well-written romance - full stop.
Something You Like was the first M/M romance I’ve ever read, and I’ll admit, I went in a little prejudiced. But there was absolutely no need. Within a few pages, I was hooked — because when a story’s written this well, it doesn’t matter who loves whom.
Set in the small town of Baywood, the book has all the best ingredients of a good romance: chemistry, chaos, and characters you care about. Single dad Cole is instantly likeable, and when Xaden, the one who got away, storms back into his life, the tension is everything you could wish for. Extra brownie points for the Finnish character Maija, who brings in the kind of dry, straight-faced humour you never knew you needed in a romance.
