The Full Moon Coffee Shop series is perfect for those who might enjoy a mix of fantasy, magical realism and astrology. Book #3 would work fine as a standalone if this series is new to you. Here again three people's lives are helped by guidance from the magical cats who run the pop-up coffee shop, as well as the personified planets that make up their astrological charts. The message this time seems to be to live your life honestly. I enjoyed these characters and their stories. I've always been fascinated by the thought of alternate realities.

Przepiękna! Ta część serii podobała mi się dużo bardziej od poprzedniej, której już nawet nie pamiętam. Niestety nie wygląda na to, by autorka miała zrezygnować z oparcia książek o Kawiarni pod Pełnym Księżycem na astrologii, jednak mam wrażenie, że i tak w tej części było mniej tego typu treści. Zamiast tego, co oceniam na ogromny plus, Mochizuki skupiła się na przedstawieniu losów dwojga, czy raczej trojga bohaterów, które na tyle mnie wciągnęły, że ostatnie rozdziały pochłonęłam po północy, rezygnując z dodatkowej godziny snu. Trudno o lepszą rekomendację (jestem śpiochem, a do tego choruję przewlekle).

Absolutely beautiful and lyrical! My favorite translated series ever!

Depending on what you are going through in your life, your star chart, and alignment of planets, the shop will choose drinks and desserts for you. These delicacies aren’t just normal either - they are of celestial origin and themed 😍. While serving, they also provide guidance and advice on how to navigate what you are going through. In this story, Neptune takes a center stage to serve the customers.
☕️ I was so in love with this story from start to finish. I always am when it comes to this series. This has a way of showing what I want to hear all the time not to mention the release time aligns exactly with the celestial events described. How cool is that?!
🐈 I also loved that this story had a new touch. If you read book 1, the story is connected in a way that the customers are still the ones who saved a kitten from book 1. But in this one, there’s a new outlook (no spoilers) which I really enjoyed. Having Neptune take center stage is lovely! Another thing I appreciate is, there’s hope and not only hope but also actual life changes in the lives of the characters.
🌙 Plus, these adorable cats have the best life advice ever! Let’s be honest cats are the best at it no questions asked. I’ve shared some quotes I loved though there’s much more! Dreamers of the Full Moon Coffee Shop is a magical, feel good, lessons to be learned from life story about love, loss and regret. Charming and heartwarming yet heartbreaking in some ways, this is the third in the Full Moon Coffee Shop series. I did not read the first two and had absolutely no trouble diving into the story, and its cast of characters. I actually yearn for more and will go back and read the first two.
As the cats ready the coffee shop, Neptune who becomes the human named Sala prepares to give their next visitors enlightenment, life lessons and guidance. Patient and kind Sala will walk them through their past in the hopes of encouraging them to see what their life truly was and could be.
The story begins when a young woman, an actress named Satuski comes home to see her mother after an absence of three years. With her is a man who loves her and wants to marry her. He wants to ask Santuski's mother for her hand.
Santuski's mother, Fujko has secrets she has kept from her daughter and perhaps in some ways from herself. A single mother she raised her daughter to be independent and to rely only on herself. Unfortunately, Fujiko's life has been hard, lonely and filled with many regrets. She is the first to visit the Full Moon Coffee Shop.
Wataru was best friends with Fujiko since childhood. But their relationship ended years ago. Now a famous writer, the memory of his friend continues to haunt him. Their last meeting horribly regretful. Now, he is at a crossroads and must come to terms with the life he chose. He too will visit the coffee shop.
Fortunately for them they may be able to have a second chance, as the mysterious cat who turns human tries to point them in the life direction they possibly could have taken. where they could have still been in each other's life with no regrets as to how they left their friendship.
Dreamers of the Full Moon Coffee Shop is a beautifully uplifting, delightful read with valuable lessons to be taken away by the reader thanks to such extraordinary mystical cats whose advice to all of us is "the only person who can make you happy is you".

Fabuła dupy nie urywała, było mnóstwo powtórzeń (raz zostało powiedziane, że bohaterka jest prostolinijna, to nie musisz mi o tym przypominać za dwie strony), a niektóre dialogi to już naprawdę zasługiwały na więzienie (jak masz problem z ekspozycją to wychodzi taki chat gpt)

Mochizuki seems apologetic in the afterword about the changes in this instalment, but personally I think those changes make it the best one so far. It feels like a much more confident and cohesive book. The story focuses on a particular inciting event and, while the horoscope aspect is still present, it isn't as overwhelming. Love and its many inclusive forms is the main theme here.

I would like to thank the publisher, Ballantine Books, for sending me an ARC. This is my least favourite entry in this series. I have found the other books in the series to be very delightful and engaging, but this one was hard for me to get into. I don’t know why.
This is a heartwarming standalone novel set in the magical Full Moon Coffee Shop, where kind cats quietly help people who are searching for hope and direction. During one August full moon, Neptune arrives in the form of a gentle woman named Sala, whose gift is inspiring dreams and encouraging people to open their hearts. Sala joins the café's feline guides as they help several visitors facing emotional struggles. Satsuki returns home after three years away to introduce her boyfriend to her mother, only to uncover a surprising truth about her family's past. Her mother, Fujiko, is questioning her place in life, while successful author Wataru is struggling with writer's block and searching for renewed inspiration. As Sala and the cats guide each of them, they begin to face their deepest emotions and discover the value of honesty, self acceptance, and love in its many forms. This uplifting novel celebrates healing, meaningful connections, and the courage to embrace one's true feelings.
Even though this is a part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone, which is something that I like. We are taken back into the world of the Full Moon Cafe, which is a magical cafe that can appear anywhere at any time. Instead of serving your typical cafe food, each person is given something that is tailored to them and their needs. It usually involves showing them something that they need and helping them with their overall life. It’s life changing for the characters. Oh, did I mention that it is run by cats? Yes, this magical care’s staff is cats.
With all of that being said, I have really enjoyed these books in the past, but this one I could not get into and I don’t know why. It follows the same format as the rest of the books. We have characters who are struggling in life and they come across this cafe. It helps them out and we get to come along on the journey. There was just something about this time around that I could not get into.
I think it has to do with the fact that I could not form any kind of bond with our characters. They were just there for me and I could not get into their story. It was missing something to drive the point home. Now, it is written just a little bit different than the other two books and that could have had something to do with it. The writing is magical and beautiful. The author has this way of pulling you in and making you fully engaged in the world. You are there with the characters at the Full Moon Cafe and going with them on this magical life journey. You feel everything that they are feeling. The emotional aspect of the book is there and I am here for it.
Overall, this is my least favourite book in the series. It’s a light, quick read with beautiful writing. I just wish that I loved it as much as the other books in the series.

Autorka konsekwentnie rozwija swoją opowieść, zachowując charakterystyczny dla serii klimat – połączenie ciepła, refleksji i japońskiej wrażliwości. Dreamers of the Full Moon Coffee Shop is the third book in a cozy fantasy series by Mai Mochizuki. Originally published in Japanese in 2021, this English language translation was published 25th Aug 2026 by Penguin Random House on their Ballantine imprint. It's 224 pages and is available in hardcover, audio, and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout.
There's a vibrant sub-genre in Japanese food related cozy fantasy, the genre is generally called "iyashikei" (Kamogawa Food Detectives, Tales from the Cafe, Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, Dallergut Department Store (which was Korean, but same basic genre), etc), and this one fits right in with the others. There's definitely a dreamlike, slightly trippy, aspect (the cafe is ephemeral and changes location depending on circumstances dictated by the patrons' needs, always on the full moon, oh, and it's staffed by giant anthropomorphic talking cats).
The book has a misty quality, and the cats wax poetic to their patrons about Japanese astrology (quite a lot) and philosophy, and music. It contains a fair bit of "woo-woo" pop psychology, but overall it's entertaining, full of whimsy, and fun with a serious bent. The patrons themselves are a mixed lot, but the story is written around their lives and fates and how their stories relate to their larger world. The other books in the series follow a similar format, with new/different patrons and their issues.
The prose is beautifully wrought and although slightly discursive and meandering, manages to make some good points about the meaning and trajectory of life, choices (and how they can affect our entire lives), acceptance, and being truthful (and kind) to ourselves. The translation work, done by series translator Jordan Taylor, is seamless and invisible. The text flows very well, and it doesn't read as though it's been translated (which has to be the goal), although the whole vibe is indelibly Japanese.
Four stars. Well written, professionally translated, and full of whimsy, it would make an excellent choice for public library acquisition, home use, and a challenging and enjoyable book club selection/buddy read. There are currently 6 books in the series in Japanese, this is the third to be translated and published for English speaking audiences. The others are slated for translation and release later.

The Full Moon Coffee Shop only appears occasionally, and only to those who need it. This was my third book in the series, and I loved it as much as the others. There is something very spiritual and uplifting about these books, even if the subject is sometimes hard.
As with the previous two, the stories are linked through the cats who run the shop, and the characters who visit. In this installment, it is Neptune who will be the guide for the visitors. This is Neptune’s first foray into the books. As the ruler of the sea, Neptune can be thought of as harsh, but we see them in a different light. Neptune rules dreams and creativity. In this, Saturn and Neptune are each side of a scale — Saturn rules human’s common sense, and Neptune rules their hearts or passions.
Fujiko and Wataru become the best of friends while in middle school. Fujiko is fearless and strong, while Wataru is shy and bullied. Again, the balance of the scales. This leads to an unusual friendship. As they grow, they stay close, but as friendships sometimes do, they drift.
Satsuki is a young woman who is an actor. She started with a minor role in a movie written by the great Futakigusa. His books are beloved. After that role, she continues to become more prominent. She lives in Tokyo and has not been home for many years. Now she is making the trip with her fiancé to see her mother.
As always the cats of the Coffee Shop have plans for all of these people. They guide and encourage the humans to be better. To follow their hearts. To understand the universe and themselves. I will leave it to the readers to find out what happens with these people by reading the book.
I do so enjoy these novels. They introduce elements of the universe and astrology that many of us never delve into. They share wisdom. I leave these novels with a profound sense of peace. They are not novels that are read once, they are novels to be treasured and kept on one’s bookshelf (physical or virtual.) At any time that is needed, they can be revisited.

„Cud Bramy Lwa” to tom trzeci Kawiarni pod Pełnym Księżycem. Nic więc dziwnego, że powracają znani nam bohaterowie między innymi aktorka Satsuki. Towarzyszymy jej podczas wielkiej wyprawy do domu w towarzystwie chłopaka. Ich rozmowa na dzień dobry niezwykle sfrustrowała Lisioła – główny temat: kobieta ważąca 60 kilo zapuściła swoje życie *lisi facepalm*. Japończycy! Dlatego futrzak od razu przejdzie do części smakowej. Otóż nieprzytomna matka Satsuki, Pani Fujiko, odwiedza kawiarnię, aby nacieszyć się smakiem Ramune z kolorów zmierzchu, podawanego w przezroczystej butelce. Lisioł chętnie oddał się kontemplacji kolorów, po czym zanurzył się w świecie cytryny i pomarańczy, słuchając historii złamanego serca Fujiko. Kobieta nie pozwoliła kociej misce stać na pusto, więc zdobyła Lisi szacunek.

Futrzak wgryzł się w syriuszowy sernik, tym razem poznając całą historię od strony pisarza Wataru Ayusawa. Lisioł musi przyznać, że to była ciekawa podróż przez umysł artysty, ogarnięty wieloma sprzecznymi emocjami, w tym miłosnym problemem. Każdy czasem pragnie zakochać się jak w bajce, więc ciężko określić czy to, co mamy, jest tym, o czym marzyliśmy. Gdy jednak to stracimy, odpowiedź jest widoczna jak na tacy.

W tym tomie nie ma więcej historii ani kosmogramu urodzinowego. Neptun królujący w kawiarni postanowił to rozegrać w taki sposób, który dla Lisioła jest nie do końca zrozumiały. Chyba skorzystał z wielu wymiarów albo wieloświatów? Trudno pisnąć.

Futrzak musi jednak przyznać, że raziły go wstawki japońskiego dydaktyzmu, czyli jak powinno się przeżyć życie, żeby było dobre i właściwe. Dla Europejczyka jest to nieco irytujące – albo jeżeli nie zgadzacie się z jedną, właściwą drogą przedstawioną w powieści. Na szczęście część z Neptunem oraz Wataru uratowała całość. Futrzak może śmiało pisnąć, że jest w porządku, aczkolwiek pomysł zaczyna powoli tracić na świeżości. Jeśli będą kolejne tomy, to Lisioł ma nadzieje, że pojawi się w nich coś zaskakującego niczym podawane desery.

Futrzak wgryzł się w syriuszowy sernik, tym razem poznając całą historię od strony pisarza Wataru Ayusawa. Lisioł musi przyznać, że to była ciekawa podróż przez umysł artysty, ogarnięty wieloma sprzecznymi emocjami, w tym miłosnym problemem. Każdy czasem pragnie zakochać się jak w bajce, więc ciężko określić czy to, co mamy, jest tym, o czym marzyliśmy. Gdy jednak to stracimy, odpowiedź jest widoczna jak na tacy.

W tym tomie nie ma więcej historii ani kosmogramu urodzinowego. Neptun królujący w kawiarni postanowił to rozegrać w taki sposób, który dla Lisioła jest nie do końca zrozumiały. Chyba skorzystał z wielu wymiarów albo wieloświatów? Trudno pisnąć.

Futrzak musi jednak przyznać, że raziły go wstawki japońskiego dydaktyzmu, czyli jak powinno się przeżyć życie, żeby było dobre i właściwe. Dla Europejczyka jest to nieco irytujące – albo jeżeli nie zgadzacie się z jedną, właściwą drogą przedstawioną w powieści. Na szczęście część z Neptunem oraz Wataru uratowała całość. Futrzak może śmiało pisnąć, że jest w porządku, aczkolwiek pomysł zaczyna powoli tracić na świeżości. Jeśli będą kolejne tomy, to Lisioł ma nadzieje, że pojawi się w nich coś zaskakującego niczym podawane desery.

Plot/Story line: 2* magical realism featuring celestial beings using their wisdom to help wee mortals on the important things in life aka love
Writing style: 2* massively drags with a little bit of nonsense but once we arrive at the section where we meet Fujiko it does improve. The conversation (during the roadtrip scene) between Satsuki and Satoshi also sounded very contrived to add background detail to these characters.
Characters: 3* the celestial beings aren't so interesting but it was interesting to learn about Fujiko and Wataru's journey
Fujiko Kawata: the protagonist whom we first encounter as a single mother in her 40s, with an adult daughter who is a famous actress. Then we are acquainted with her as a teenager first meeting Wataru. She's a nicely fleshed out character, strong, kind and likeable as a child. A little tragic and simple as an adult.
Wataru Ayuzawa: we first encounter him via Fujiko's teenage recollections of him as a small timid nerd being bullied at school. And then he grows taller and handsome as he ages. He has a complicated relationship with his family as his father is away a lot and his mother and paternal grandmother argue a lot (his father married a stripper/dancer(?) and hence the grandmother disapproved).

Satoshi Takada: fiancé and collègue to Satsuki.
Yasue: a close friend to Fujiko and a defacto auntie to Satsuki.

"... kiedy chcemy komuś coś przekazać, nie ma potrzeby kłamać. Spośród wielu myśli i uczuć powinno się wybierać i przekazywać tylko te dobre".
Po raz kolejny ta książka pojawiła się w moich rękach akurat w momencie, kiedy najbardziej jej potrzebowałam. Jak zwykle bardzo uspokajająca, bardzo przytulna w odbiorze, chociaż fabuła niekoniecznie sprawia takie wrażenie.
Chociaż tytułowa Kawiarnia pod Pełnym Księżycem "pojawia się nieoczekiwanie w różnych miejscach" i w momentach kiedy bohater historii najbardziej potrzebuje zrozumienia swojej sytuacji czy w jakiś sposób porady od wszechświata, w gorsze dni można odnieść wrażenie, że ten wyjątkowy "lokal na kółkach" pojawia się także w życiu czytelnika jako przytulne miejsce do posłuchania na temat ciekawostek o kosmosie i właściwościach różnych planet. Pracownicy kawiarni częstują czytelnika także skrupulatnie przygotowywanymi smakołykami, które mają ukoić serca i przywołać najprzyjemniejsze wspomnienia. Wraz z bohaterami możemy popodziwiać te dzieła, rozkoszować się nimi oraz czuć się otulonym przez atmosferę Kawiarni.
Książka została napisana bardzo przyjemnym i prostym językiem, ale nie infantylnym. Fabuła wzbudza ciekawość i niedosyt po każdym rozdziale. Ze względu na format jaki autorka obrała podczas pisania tej pozycji, inny niż w poprzednich dwóch częściach, czytelnik jeszcze bardziej nie może się doczekać jakie będą dalsze losy bohaterów.
Nie wszystko jest pewne kiedy Brama Lwa się otwiera a Saturn pomaga innym ludziom spełnić ich pragnienia czy pokazuje ile wersji wszechświata powstaje w obliczu podejmowanych decyzji przez bohaterów.
"Okres zodiakalnego Lwa jest dla Ziemi szczególny. Każdego roku w okolicach ósmego sierpnia otwiera się Brama Lwa. (...) Okres, w którym Brama jest otwarta, trwa osiemnaście dni, a nów w tym czasie jest jeszcze bardziej wyjątkowy. Ponieważ napływająca energia jest tak silna, zdarz się, że wrażliwi ludzie gorzej się czują. Ale to nic złego. Uważa się, że to dowód przyjęcia tej energii do swojego wnętrza"

The third installment is the most emotional and impactful astrological journey with cats that one could ask for. I have been following this series since I found the first book’s translated copy in my library. There is something enchanting about the way Mochizuki incorporates the mystical nature of cats into shaping the world view of the humans they come across. You never know when you are spiraling and are going to have a mystical cat show you how to find the light in your life again. That is perfectly written into the plot in this installment and how each story connects so efficiently here. Like the synopsis states, this is not a love story but a story about lovers. You will fall in love with each protagonist’s plight and how the cats unite people through understanding.
Of course, this is magical realism but this installment makes you wonder if this is a moment of imagination or an experience that you are forced to make a choice. We are all approached with choices throughout life and how we experience this is solely up to own vices. How do we decide when enough is at a breaking point and we need to make a change? That is what these cats are guiding the character’s to represent. You will see yourself in the characters. This made me think about taking charge in my own writing and not holding myself back through imposter syndrome and procrastination.
Fall in love with the Full Moon coffee shop for the third time and pet some cats while you have your coffee. There is something to learn from their mysterious ways and the way they can unite our thoughts back into productivity. The most enchanting installment yet and I am glad that I have found this series. It begins w/ Neptune visiting his master at the coffee shop. He is then rejoined by the rest of the gang & told them he was given a new name by the master (Sala from Salacia the goddess of the sea) & that he will stay & work at the cafe as a means of "paying forward" the good deeds that were also done to him. The shop's current location is at the Chichibugahama Beach in Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture.
This four-chapter novel tells the story of related characters w/ their interconnected background stories & their "dream" experience at the Full Moon Coffee Shop.
From an actress who lost her job due to a public scandal (extramarital affair), the actress' single mother who raised her in Kyoto together w/ their adopted white cat until her grandfather died, & the actress' father who became a famous writer & novelist but had no idea that he had a daughter.
In my opinion, this novel is one of the author's best works yet! I was magnetically drawn to every single character in the novel & how their background stories came to be. I could feel every raw emotion from them as they narrate their side of the story. I was able to absorb the perspective of one from the other & just felt like I would give all of them a hug. It felt so real how complex human beings are, as well as the moralities involved w/ every decision they needed to make. There were also twists to the story that I never expected, including the Epilogue & it was definitely the perfect ending. I could not ask for more!
Poignant, heartbreaking & tear-jerking, but also heart-warming & w/ strong emotional resonance, this is a definite must-read!

"Cud bramy lwa" to trzeci tom trylogii "kawiarnia pod pełnym księzycem". Ten tom porusza młodość Fujiko Kawaty-matki jednej z bohaterek poprzednich tomów.
Jak sie okazuje, nie umiem liczyć. Przeczytałam ten tom jako drugi. Na całe szczęście autorka jest bardzo dobra w swoim fachu więc ani trochę nie odczułam że czytam trzeci tom. Ten napewno różni się od pierwszego, nadal jest bardzo przyjemny ale wady które męczyły wcześniej, zostały zniwelowane. Jak w pierwszym tomie bardzo męczył przesyt astrologii to tym razem, mimo tego że wciąż astrologia była, to przyjemnie się to czytało. Tym razem nasza uwaga jest skupiona tylko na dwóch, a najbardziej na jednej bohaterce co pozwala nam o wiele bardziej poczuć emocjonalnie tą historię, a emocjonalna to ta historia była. Nie mam w zwyczaju płakać nad książką, chyba że z irytacji, ale tutaj prawie płakałam bo bolało. Jesteśmy przyzwyczajeni do szczęśliwych wątków miłosnych, na końcu wszyscy się kochają. Jak sie tutaj okazało, nie zawsze takie są. Niestety muszę też powiedziec cos negatywnego. Nie mam nic to wątków homoseksualnych w książkach, ale nie cierpię kiedy jest on wypchany na siłę. Bardzo często w dzisiejszych czasach seriale, filmy czy własnie ksiażki chcą nam dodać wątek romantyczny homoseksualny aby pokazać jacy to oni są "tolerancyjnii" lecz to okropnie męczy i denerwuje. W momencie w którym nasza historia jest dopełniona, wszystko rozumiemy to fakt że bohater był zakochany w mężczyźnie nic nie zmienia. Ewentualnie na gorsze. Czasami też z czytania wybijała nagła suchość dialogów bohaterów. O wiele lepiej wszystko wychodziło kiedy narrator opisywał o czym była rozmowa niż wypowiedzi które nie miały często głębi. Natomiast możliwe że jest to problem nie autorki a tłumaczenia. Pomijając naprawdę małe problemy to książka była piękna i dostaje ode mnie 8/10★
