Grant Morrison has been working with DC Comics for twenty five years, after beginning their American comics career with acclaimed runs on ANIMAL MAN and DOOM PATROL. Since then they have written such best-selling series as JLA, BATMAN and New X-Men, as well as such creator-owned works as THE INVISIBLES, SEAGUY, THE FILTH, WE3 and JOE THE BARBARIAN. In addition to expanding the DC Universe through titles ranging from the Eisner Award-winning SEVEN SOLDIERS and ALL-STAR SUPERMAN to the reality-shattering epic of FINAL CRISIS, they have also reinvented the worlds of the Dark Knight Detective in BATMAN AND ROBIN and BATMAN, INCORPORATED and the Man of Steel in The New 52 ACTION COMICS.

In their secret identity, Morrison is a "counterculture" spokesperson, a musician, an award-winning playwright and a chaos magician. They are also the author of the New York Times bestseller Supergods, a groundbreaking psycho-historic mapping of the superhero as a cultural organism. They divide their time between their homes in Los Angeles and Scotland.

This tale is really good a man that has struck a deal with the devil only for the devil to come through with his part of the deal.
Batman has 26 hours to stop this man who has lived for 300 years from sacrificing all of gotham to save his own soul.

Batman is stuck in a trap in which once a candle burns through a rope, it'll release a barrel which will crush his head. Picture Batman tied to a table as in the classic laser trap in James Bond. Ridiculous.

Further more, the villain decides to tell Batman why he's doing what he's doing in that cheesy way villains tend to do. Holy exposition Batman! Ridiculous.

Theresa's a whiff of convenient plotting, which is a shame as there's a lot to potentially like hidden away here. The Gothic themes are wonderful.

Some of the panels are gorgeous

Batman goes against a 300 year old pedophilic ex Catholic monk who’s tryna cheat the devil by trapping souls in a Gotham city church in order to gain mortality.

Let that sink in.

Batman goes to Morgenstern, who he knows used Mr Whisper to cover his killing of rival Octavio.

Morganstern tells Bats what happened when the Dons tried to kill the child murderer.

Later, Batman tries to attend Morganstern’s meeting and finds bodies strung up to the ceiling!

For the second time, Whisper overpowers Batman.

Bats wakes up tied to a contraption and is forced to listen to Whisper talk about his deadly plan…

Basically, the 300+ year old man wants to live longer and is ready to sacrifice a city's worth of people’s souls in exchange!
