Seasons of Intimacy is a slow-burn love story about timing, trust, and the kind of vulnerability that allows real closeness to grow between guarded hearts.
When a chance encounter brings two strangers together, neither expects more than a night of awkward conversation. But as the seasons pass, what begins as an unlikely connection deepens into something quietly undeniable - a bond built not on promises, but on presence.
Through poems, quiet conversations, moments of passion, and emotional openness, they discover that real intimacy isn’t about grand gestures. It’s about showing up, again and again.
Told with poetic honesty and emotional warmth, this contemporary romance explores the beauty of second chances, healing after heartbreak, and the kind of love that doesn’t rush, but waits.
For readers who believe chemistryQuiet moments that say everythingLove that doesn't rush, but shows up, again and againBeing truly seen...and loved anyway Perfect for fans of Emily Henry, Colleen Hoover, Carley Fortune and Nicholas Sparks, this heartfelt debut is a celebration of heartfelt, tender, character-driven romance.
Jason Schubert grew up two hours west of Chicago in Pecatonica, Illinois. He earned a degree in human resource management with a minor in psychology from Northern Illinois University and has dedicated much of his career to leadership and talent development around the world.
Through his experiences, Jason has helped individuals and teams grow both personally and professionally. His background in coaching, facilitation, and human connection brings a deep understanding of people--their motivations, vulnerabilities, and quiet strengths--to his writing.
In 2025, he began transforming his love of storytelling into a larger creative pursuit with his debut novel, Seasons of Intimacy. Jason continues to work, write and explore the ways we connect--with each other and with ourselves.
A Quiet Triumph of Finding Home What stood out to me most in Seasons of Intimacy was how briefly the main characters’ names appear. Without constant labels, I was fully drawn into who they were—their thoughts, fears, hopes, and struggles. That fleeting mention of their names barely registered, which only deepened my connection. The characters could be anyone; at times they felt like me, at others like people I have loved. That universality made their journey feel intimate, real, and profoundly relatable.
The seasonal structure was more than a clever device—it reflected the ongoing rhythm of relationships and life itself. Love, like the seasons, shifts and grows through easy days and hard ones alike. The story shows the value of showing up for someone, understanding where they are in their journey, and recognizing when someone is worth waiting for. The poetry woven throughout deepened the emotion and connection, giving voice to the unspoken feelings between the characters.
What made the story especially moving was the way the struggle to accept deep feelings is portrayed—how hard it can be to admit you’ve truly found “home” in another person, even when it’s undeniable. That quiet tension and vulnerability made the journey deeply compelling. I found myself rooting for both characters, not just to be together, but to feel and trust the connection they were building. Seasons of Intimacy is honest, emotionally resonant, and quietly powerful. It lingers long after the last page, leaving me hoping their story will continue someday.
A friend recommended my wife read this book and she did. She enjoyed it enough to suggest I should read it. (And, I have to tell you, her suggesting I read a book she enjoyed is a rare event.)
I will admit that romance novels are not high on my list to read, but this one was different than I expected. Yes, there were the intimate scenes one would expect in a romance novel. But, there was much more for the reader.
Schubert explores in depth the relationship between two people who meet by chance, each carrying remnants of previous experiences. His characters are well crafted and show us how to approach others in a respectful and considerate manner. The storyline is interesting and enjoyable, and helps one reflect on the nature of one's own relationship with a life partner or potential life partner. As a bonus, some good advice can be found. My favorite is, "Stay friends. Laugh often. Embrace the intimacy. Let it unfold. As often as we can." This would have been good advice when I first starting dating and I still find it valuable after 45 years of marriage.
If you enjoy romance novels, I recommend this one. If you have never before picked up a romance novel, I recommend you pick up this one. And, if I am reading the ending correctly, there is more of this story to unfold. I'm looking forward to the next one!
When you read this book, you can feel the connection between two complete strangers-so raw and electric that even their simplest touches carry meaning. Their vulnerability with each other is breathtaking, the kind that makes you ache because it's so real. I loved that neither of them ever walked away; they held on, even when it would've been easier not to. And the way he treats her-with such tenderness, such careful honesty-made my heart swell. The details are painted so vividly that every moment unfolds in your mind like a memory you somehow lived yourself.
Jason Schubert’s novel grabs your attention right from the start with its lucious blend of sensual moments and poetic style. The love story feels warm, emotional, and genuinely sweet, packed with scenes with which a reader will connect. There’s an easy elegance to the prose, and each season opens up a new layer of honest, raw feeling. If you’re looking for a book that really lets you sink into your emotions—whether you read all the time or only once in a while—this beautifully written romance is a great one to get lost in.
I usually stick to self-help books, but Seasons of Intimacy was such a refreshing change.
Jason Schubert’s slow burn love story pulled me in right away and kept me engaged the whole time.
The connection between the characters feels real, gentle, and rooted in trust and healing. It’s a beautifully written story about timing, vulnerability, and opening your heart again and I’m so glad I stepped outside my usual genre for this one.

This is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read—it is the very epitome of romantic. I found myself holding back tears as I turned the pages, caught in a whirlwind of emotions: frustration at her for taking so long, awe at their unwavering love, and complete adoration for this couple and their journey.
