Sometimes the main quest is overrated.

Caleb has spent his whole life trying to do what’s expected of him, trying not to let anyone down. But he’s been pushing off his future as long as he can, and now he has to decide what he wants to do with his what his parents expect, or something else entirely?

When Caleb gets recruited last-minute to join The Roll Players Show—a tabletop role-playing game web-series—he can’t exactly say no and let down the complete strangers who are now depending on him. Not when beautiful-yet-taciturn Leo is the leader of the group; the last thing Caleb wants is for him to be disappointed.

Even though Leo doesn’t seem to know that Caleb exists, most of the time.

Which is why Caleb is completely floored when Leo kisses him out of the blue, and then walks away. Caleb is left wondering what it all means, wondering what Leo actually wants. How can Caleb possibly avoid disappointing him now? He’s too chubby and too awkward and too inexperienced for someone like Leo, surely. All he can do is let Leo down.

But sometimes it seems like Leo is the only one who cares what Caleb wants, too. The one encouraging him to pursue his artistic dreams, to forge his own path—to ignore the main quest that’s been set before him and choose his own adventure. Leo is the one who makes him feel good about himself and his future, for once. Even if the two of them make no sense together—at least, they shouldn’t make sense together. But it’s starting to feel more and more like they do.

Can Caleb trust that Leo’s interest could be genuine, or is the reclusive Roll Player just playing games?

Side Quest is a cute and nerdy queer romantic comedy with a bit of spice and a lot of laughs.
