Gabriella has never handled a demon case before, but she finds herself investigating a familiar house with a familiar story. An innocent family moves into a new home, only to be terrorized by forces beyond their comprehension. A great starting point for a horror movie and something usually handled by specialists within the Foundation. However, this time it’s up to her and Bradley to solve it. And that may be more difficult than it appears, especially if they’re not receiving all the necessary information.
In between dealing with the O’Toole House and everything else North County can toss at them, Gabriella is trying desperately to connect with a physically present, but mentally distant James, who is now out on a month of medical leave. With some unexpected sources of help, Gabriella thinks she might be able to solve everything. Or is it entirely out of her hands?
O’Toole House is Book 11 in the North County Paranormal Unit series!
This is the second book in the story arc involving James getting controlled by a love potion and the after effects. While James is at home trying to recover, the rest of the North County team are trying to carry on despite the overwork and the added stress of being shorthanded and worrying about James. The story also goes into the ongoing lack of relationship between Gabriella and Elliott. With all that in the background, Gabriella is working on her first case involving a demon. A recent upsurge in the activity of a demon at a location that had previously been cleansed has the team searching for answers. I felt like many of the flashbacks used were somewhat redundant, with only a little information or a different viewpoint added, slowed the story down too much. Maybe the problem is my comparing this to the previous, exemplary, book has made this one seem a little lacking. Still, a very good book but do not start the series here.
