Harry doesn’t know how to cope after the War. The only things that make him feel even remotely normal again are taking risks while flying and fighting with Malfoy. It’s not likely to end well.
Or,
Draco becomes obsessed with ‘Wonderwall’, reads Muggle books, and drives a campervan, while Harry slowly falls in love with Draco. A story about travelling around the British Isles in the late 90s while healing deep scars.
As a longtime Drarry lover, there are certain authors I always gravitate toward, and thecouchsofa is absolutely one of them. Their writing is consistently beautiful, and I love the way they portray Harry and Draco—true to character, layered, and emotionally resonant. This fic is another immersive, long journey that follows the two of them as they battle their own internal struggles. Harry is in a very dark place, and Draco quietly takes it upon himself to help pull him back to something resembling normal. They aren’t close at the start, and their relationship is often tense and fraught, but watching them travel together—both literally and emotionally—while taking in the world around them is incredibly compelling.
The reason this isn’t a five-star read for me is that I don’t think I’ll ever reread it in its entirety. Much of the story focuses on the slow process of becoming friends rather than being together romantically, with the bulk of the payoff reserved for the end. While the emotional buildup is well done, I found myself wishing the ending had been more prolonged instead of relatively brief. That said, this fic is still extremely well written, thoughtful, and impactful—a solid four-star read that I’m glad I experienced. 💫📖
i will never be the same after this beautiful fic, it has me falling onto my knees and sobbing all over the floor and then immediately booking a trip to ireland and scotland just to feel something
