Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name.
Patricia Briggs was born in Butte, Montana, to a children’s librarian who passed on to her kids a love of reading and books. Patricia grew up reading fairy tales and books about horses, and later developed an interest in folklore and history. When she decided to write a book of her own, a fantasy book seemed a natural choice. Patricia graduated from Montana State University with degrees in history and German and she worked for a while as a substitute teacher. Currently, she lives in Montana with her husband, children, and six horses and writes full time, much to the delight of her fans.
Basic Plot: Adam's ex is being stalked, so she comes to live with Adam and Mercy while they try to hunt down the culprit.
Christy is the worst sort of person, and how she is portrayed is completely believable. Anyone who has ever dealt with a narcissist would recognize the playback immediately. I wish Mercy would have done more to fight back through the story, but it is explained within why she didn't. It males sense. This was a good, fairly standalone entry to the series, with just hints of the other bigger plots surrounding the characters.
GraphicAudio takes an outstanding series and presents an outstanding dramatization of Mercy and her friends, allies and enemies in book 8 of the series. I have read the entire series - more than once - and still get caught up in Mercy taking on the bad guy/s and protecting the innocent while dragging the wolf pack and others into the fray. So much action, so many interesting characters and plot/subplots and somehow author Patricia Briggs makes sense of it all. No spoilers and no summary here. If you like entertainment and can suspend your disbelief to enjoy werewolves, vampires, witches and other myth-type characters go ahead, take a leap and read this series. It is a getaway treasure of suspense and action.
This one was so good! Mercy just can’t catch a break, and I love her for it. The drama, the danger, the ex-wife chaos—it’s all perfectly blended with action and emotion. The pacing kept me hooked from start to finish, and the full cast performance made the story feel so alive.
The tension between Mercy and Christy had me ready to throw hands on her behalf, but the bigger threat lurking in the background? Chef’s kiss. It tied everything together in that classic Mercy Thompson way—sharp, smart, and full of heart. And yes… there were some tears shed. 🥹
If you love urban fantasy with bite (and a little domestic drama for spice), this one’s a must-listen. 🐺🔥🎧
I swear, they better continue this series…. I’m already having withdrawals after finishing this book!!! This was EPIC!!! Coyote is hilarious, Stefan you sneaky vamp…. Christie was way worse than I prev imagined her out to be and wow what a finale!!! My girl Mercy don’t back down though! She is a powerhouse!!!
I’m not crazy about some of the voices, but I really do like the format of having a full cast for these. I just can’t figure out why the really scary vampire sounds like a little girl lol, it’s pretty silly. It was really nice to revisit this one in a different format. Among my favorite of the series. Five stars.
