It's been ten years since the war with Falron ended, and now the world of Lulandal is not only rebuilding, but beginning to thrive once more. Victoria has settled down in her new life as Lady Victoria of Areiop as she is happily married to Groman and they have five energetic children together. But as both Victoria and Groman are just getting comfortable a warning comes from their friend Monaria, "Silence is coming" she says. And now the villages on the coast are reporting sightings of strange hostile raiders and rumors of some unknown person as well. Will Victoria and Groman be able to defend their home and family? Or will the silence fall over Lulandal?
I really enjoyed this one. I did read this out of order, so if you don't like spoilers than start with The Empty Sword saga.
I fell in love with the characters and was able to dive into the story and understand, despite not having read the original trilogy. I loved the world-building and aspects that made this story unique, like how all of the different fantasy creatures had their own names for the world, or how the fantasy characters spoke differently from the human ones.
The story starts mildly, but it does pick up and get intense, and I loved the flow of the story. This is definitely a favorite world of mine now.
