I entered to win this one through Goodreads and, honestly, was curious because AI can be a controversial topic, especially in bookish spaces.
And I get that.
But for me, reading this wasn’t about using AI to create content, it was about understanding something that’s already here, learning how to use it ethically, and seeing whether it might help with things I personally struggle with… like productivity, organization, ADHD brain dumping, and planning.
Because whether we’re comfortable with it or still figuring it out… AI is becoming part of the landscape.
And honestly, part of why I wanted to read this is that I’ve been trying to read more books lately on topics I want to understand better, things that help me learn, make informed decisions, and think more critically about subjects that affect real life. AI just felt like one of those topics for me.
This was a mixed read for me. Some of it got much more technical than I needed (the machine learning sections definitely lost me a little), and I was hoping for more practical, everyday application.
But I did still pull some good nuggets from it.
One thing that genuinely surprised me? I didn’t realize there were so many different types of AI. That was something I actually learned from this book, and I liked that it broadened my understanding there.
I liked some of the sections on prompting, thinking of AI more as an assistant, and I was especially interested in ideas around productivity tools, time blocking, and systems like Notion and Reclaim that I want to look into more for planning and task management.
I also appreciated the emphasis on ethical AI use, with transparency, accountability, privacy, and the inclusion of human judgment in the process. That mattered to me.
Was it exactly the book I thought it would be? Not quite.
But it did give me a few things I want to experiment with further, especially around prompts, productivity support, and ADHD-friendly systems.

Pointing out some common weaknesses that might deteriorate progress, the author offers suggestive alternatives towards the right mindset which extends to the proper and lawful utilization of artificial intelligence. I would recommend this to those who are yet to start this innovative journey as well as beginners looking for insights on how to better approach there learning.
OK. First off, this is not a bad book. If you have never dealt with AI, and really don't know where to start, it's a decent place to start. But! I found it very formulaic, and more than a little condescending in tone. The use and prompt suggestions are okay, but nothing that could not be gathered in a quick search. So who is this book for? It's for people that are somewhat afraid of computers, but who feel that they need to know about AI. If you have any computer experience (other than treating it as a magic box), I think you'll read (skim) this and go "meh".
I enjoyed this book and found it very helpful. It explains AI in a simple way that is easy to understand, even for beginners. I liked the practical tips on how to write better prompts and use AI in everyday tasks. Thank you to Goodreads and the author, Elowen Halloway, for this free copy from the giveaway. I really appreciate the opportunity to read it!
This was a good AI book. In this book you will learn all about AI and it even goes through debunking AI misconceptions. I even liked the quiz it gives you. If you are interested in AI give this book a try.
THE AI ENGINE ACCELERATOR FOR BEGINNERS : Your practical road map to harness the power of artificial intelligence, craft powerful prompts, and improve task automation with ease by Elowen Halloway What I like about this book on AI are the charts and screenshots of actually doing something. Really appreciate the approach of prompting and how to really ask exactly what it is you want an answer to. Many different categories of work are explained and how AI is used for answering the companies phones even. Lot of the examples are given step by step instructions for you to use it yourself. There are many quizzes along the way to make sure you're grasping what is going on. Love the chapter where you have AI write a paragraph and then you get to humanize it as AI has no emotions. There is a glossary at the end and answer key to all the quizzes throughout the book. Love the more advanced workbook at the end of the book, challenging yourself with weekly projects. References are included also at the end. What a great book to keep handy.
