๋࣭ ⭑⚝ Undercover Fish and Game officer Joshua McGregor rescues a woman from a burning car that crashed near his cabin in the mountains. When she comes to, all she can remember is being run off the road and her name, Bethany. But as killers begin to hunt them down, Joshua and Bethany learn that her identity has been completely erased, forcing them to have to trust each other as they try to make sense of why Bethany is being targeted. Can they learn to trust–and love–again as they not only try to save each other’s lives, but innocent lives as well?

.˚₊‧༉︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶༉‧₊˚.

๋࣭ ⭑⚝ Oh, how sad I am! I had such high, high hopes that I would love this, but alas, I did not. And I blame myself entirely.

At first, I was enjoying myself. I really like books with the amnesia trope, so I was trying to figure out why someone would go to great lengths to try to kill Bethany. But the mystery got old real fast. And it didn’t help that I didn’t care for the characters. I really wanted to, but just as Bethany and Joshua hardly knew each other, I didn’t know a single thing about them that would make me want to root for them. Okay, yeah. They’re humans, so obviously I want things to go well for them, but their personalities and dialogue were flatter than cardboard, and that’s exactly how they felt to me: cardboard cutouts of human beings who are going through a lot. I mean, we did get to kinda see how kind and protective Joshua was through his actions, and we only know that Bethany is stubborn and strong-willed because Joshua thinks so, but I only saw her as annoying, but hey, to each their own, you know what I mean. I’m not the one who wants to be with her. I’ll leave that position open for Joshua. 😂

Speaking of, I didn’t feel any chemistry or romantic tension between these two. And when they realized they loved each other, I literally said, “No, you don’t.” You hardly know each other. Sure, y’all trauma-bonded, and you guys like each other, but I couldn’t take their romance seriously with how insta-love it was. But that’s just a me thing because I hate the insta-love trope.

And since this was more plot-driven rather than character-driven, I was hoping the plot would save the day, especially the reason behind why Bethany was targeted in the first place, because a lot of crap happened to her and poor Joshua, who tagged along for the ride because my guy cares too much. But, to me, the reason is literally so ridiculous, I stopped reading, set my phone down, and covered my face and laughed. Oh gosh, that sounds so mean, but it’s true. The only reason the story shocked me was that I was genuinely appalled that that was why Bethany was almost killed. Like, really? I mean, it’s possible because, not to be rude or anything, but there aren’t that many smart people out there in the world (not you–you’re brilliant), so I can see people getting away with it, but it seems like a stretch to me. I don’t know. I’m just trying to argue with myself so I can be a little bit more understanding toward the story.

Then the ending wasn’t very satisfactory because of Bethany. I thought she had a lot of nerve for saying and feeling the way she did because, ma’am, Joshua owes you nothing. Like, literally nothing. If anything, you owe him A LOT, if he even kept score. He didn’t have to help you and risk his life and then his job, which that part concerning his job made me so mad. Bethany, honey. WHAT???
description

That was uncalled for and unfair, and I am still in disbelief.

I know what you may be wondering. “Sarah, did you like anything about the book?” Why yes, I did. I really liked Izzy, Bethany’s dog. She was sweet and a great addition to the story. Joshua was also cool, and I didn’t really have any problems with him from what I can remember. I also like the faith elements, especially since it’s been a minute since I’ve read a Christian book. Maybe it’s been too long because I found myself cringing at some of it, lol.
description

Even though I was disappointed, I’m glad there were some parts of the book I liked. I just wish I could have loved this. 😢

This book has all the right ingredients for a fantastic read! Author Carrie Stuart Parks brilliantly balances a high-stakes adrenaline rush with a hint of romance and a dash of faith.

The story kicks off when Fish and Game officer Joshua McGregor discovers a woman at the site of a burning car crash on an isolated mountain road. He steps in to help, but things quickly get complicated because she has no idea who she is!

I was instantly pulled into this carefully plotted puzzle. The suspense kept me flipping pages, desperate to discover who this woman really was, why killers were hot on her trail, and what happened to her "family."

In my opinion, a Carrie Stuart Parks is always a good idea, so I preordered this baby faster than you could say, “hey, did you know CSP has a new LIS book releasing at the end of May?” (Why, yes I did.) I have read – and loved – every single one of her full length suspense thrillers, and I also loved her very first romantic suspense that released from Love Inspired Suspense last year – Escaping the Wilderness. (Though I don’t think I ever reviewed it, now that I’m contemplating this. Something I need to correct soon!) You don’t need to read that one first to enjoy her latest, Survival in the Mountains, but if you have you’ll enjoy the character connection that the author included.

The opening paragraphs of this book brilliantly kick off the story from the fuzzy perspective of our injured heroine, bits and pieces of awareness that allow us to piece together (even if she can’t just yet) that she’s been in a fiery car accident and is being rescued. As she comes to some time later, I could tangibly feel her fear and confusion – and tension – when she can’t remember how she got there or even her own name. Knows her dog Izzy right away though, which is relatable. No time to think too much about who she is, or recover from the accident, because her handsome rescuer Joshua says they need to get to safety and “Something’s off.” Words you never really want to hear in general but especially not from a) your doctor or b) the guy who’s just saved your life (and your dog’s too).

In true Love Inspired Suspense fashion, what follows is a high-stakes, no-time-to-catch-your-breath race against time and the bad guys to stay alive long enough to find out who wants this young woman gone. And not just dead but erased from all signs she ever existed. That twist was mentioned in the book blurb so I knew it played a role in Bethany’s story (turns out that’s her name) but Carrie Stuart Parks’ layered writing still had me surprised along with Bethany (and feeling her panic & disbelief too) at the level of deception involved. Nor is this the only twist that caught me off guard but the rest aren’t mentioned in the blurb so no spoilers from me either! I really enjoyed meeting both Joshua and Bethany (fun fact: those are the names of my brother & his wife too lol). Their individual stories are complex and compelling, and so is their current search for the truth and their struggle to make it out of this alive, but their shared chemistry is sweet and tender. Add Izzy’s big personality to the mix as well, plus a variety of characters we aren’t sure we can trust – from law enforcement to family to local residents – and I couldn’t put this read down!

Bottom Line: If the phrases “heroine with amnesia”, “loyal dog”, “handsome undercover hero”, “erased identity” and “unknown motives” make your reader radar say “tell me more”, then make sure you grab a copy of Survival in the Mountains by Carrie Stuart Parks! As she always does, the author took that irresistible setup and built a twisty, tension-filled story, complete with an atmospheric mountain wilderness setting that added to the suspense. I loved watching Bethany and Joshua grow close as they try to stay a step ahead of (or at least safe from) whoever wants her dead. A mystery of unknowns which unfolds in satisfying layers, each one revealing just enough information to keep the plot moving while still holding back enough to keep readers (like me) guessing. Survival in the Mountains delivered exactly the kind of adrenaline-fueled reading experience I’ve come to expect from Carrie Stuart Parks, and it would be a great next read for fans of Jessica R. Patch, Sharee Stover, and Deena Alexander.

Survival In The Mountains by Carrie Stewart Park, the first thing Bethany realizes is that she doesn’t know who she is nor does she know the handsome man by her car window trying to help her out of the burning vehicle. Bethany may not know who she is but she definitely knows who Izzy is her beloved loyal pup. before she can even get her footing men show up at Josh‘s cabin looking for her, but thanks to Bethany‘s quick thinking they don’t find her when they devise a plan to go to town it fails miserably and before she knows it she’s in the hands of whoever these bad men are imagine being kidnapped and not knowing why? Who you are? What you could’ve done to bring this on, but they want her in despite her getting away they won’t stop until they have her. With this new guy Josh by her side who she believes is an illegal polture they do their best to find out what these bad men could want but it seems every answer leads to more questions like why when’ she finally learns who she is can she not legally prove it because she doesn’t exist in any database or how could such a handsome helpful guy be a lawbreaker but that’s something else Bethany will have to find out as she goes. This was such a good book I liked it so much I went to find more books like this one and there are a lot but none of them were as good or even came close to the heart palpitations this book gave me it was well written had a great plot and I usually don’t like romance mixed in with action thrillers but I found the author did a great job keeping both sides moving. #NetGalley, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview,

I love a story where the hero and heroine are running for their lives on page one. Especially if they are total strangers. Survival in the Mountains starts off with Bethany waking up in a strange house and no memory of how she got there. Joshua McGregor rescued Bethany from a burning car. Soon he realizes someone is out to get her and they run. Her memories slowly return, and Joshua realizes they are in the thick of a major coverup. But he has secrets of his own to protect, not to mention a job he might lose if he helps Bethany get her life back.

This story is fast paced and chock full of suspense. Carrie Stuart Parks has a great way of capturing your imagination and taking it on a wild ride. I love the mystery as well. The crime is complicated but the hero and heroine are fierce and determined. I highly recommend you move Survival on the Mountains up on your summer reading list!

This was a good, clean romantic suspense novella. It was easy to read and had enough action to keep one's attention. This author is one of my favorites and I have loved all her books. Although this novella was a quick and easy read, it wasn't one of my favorites by this author. But if you enjoy a quick, easy read that is clean and full of action, I recommend this one.

Joshua is an undercover fish and game employee trying to stop an illegal fur trapping gang. He comes across and woman in a burning car and rescues her and her dog and takes them back to his remote cabin. When she regains consciousness she cannot remember who she is. As bits and pieces of her memory start to return she remembers someone is trying to kill her but doesn’t know why. As they trace they way back they find her sister and aunt have been kidnapped and all of her existence has been erased. I enjoyed the romantic thriller.

I wanted to like this so much but it was not for me. I unfortunately did not feel any chemistry or sexual tension between the MCs and the suspense part and the reason behind wanting FMC dead was ridiculous.

For romantic suspense to work (for me at least), there has to be equal parts of romance & suspense that has you hooked till the end to find out how it will turn out. This did not deliver I’m sorry to say…

I really love Carrie’s writing, so I always give her books a chance. There were many parts of this that I enjoyed, but a few that fell short. Joshua, Bethany, and Izzy are all pros. The scenery would be another. The plot starts out so promising and is an excellent concept. It was the unraveling of said plot that lost me a bit. It’s all just a tad too far-fetched. There are a few cheesy parts and things that don’t seem like normal human reactions. So, this one was meh for me. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either.

3.5 stars, but I cannot select that here
Completed: Jun. 06/26
Format: digital ARC

Challenge Prompt: tbd

Book #54 of 2026: Joshua is the brother to Boone from the last LIS book by this author. He’s hanging onto the huge losses in his life and has sworn off ever finding love again. He works undercover and seems to be just existing.

Then the day comes when he finds a woman in a fiery car crash with partial amnesia. It soon becomes clear they are both targets with people meaning them harm. As she works to regain her memories, and her name (Bethany), they’re finding themselves evading whomever is after them, and trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle. Her sister is missing, questions are piling up, and Izzy becomes Superdog.

If I am being honest, I felt like there is ‘too much’ action/intensity. I wanted to know more about the characters. I didn’t feel as invested as I would like.

I’m a big fan of Carrie Stuart Parks’ full-length novels. Her background, knowledge, and her unique (other) career is fascinating. In those novels, it’s far more evident than these short, compact, more formulaic books. She absolutely shines in those full-length novels.

* My thanks to Love Inspired Suspense and Net Galley for an advanced digital copy. My review is voluntary and these are my honest thoughts.

Carrie Stuart Parks pulled me straight into the danger with Bethany and Joshua, and from there I felt that constant need to know what happened, who could be trusted, why Bethany’s identity had been erased, and how they could possibly survive when the wilderness itself seemed ready to swallow every answer.

I loved the characters. I loved the Idaho mountain setting. Carrie Stuart Parks did not just use the wilderness as a backdrop. She made it feel like part of the danger, part of the mystery, and part of the desperate need to trust God for the next step.

I loved the way the suspense kept tightening around what was chasing them and around the questions Bethany could not answer. Amnesia stories can sometimes feel distant, but this one carried urgency. Bethany was trying to live long enough to discover the truth.

Joshua was the kind of hero I enjoy in romantic suspense. Protective, steady, capable, but not invincible. He had to think, move, protect, and trust in the middle of danger that kept shifting.

Christian faith was woven through this story. Not forced. Not decorative. Present in the fear. Present in the uncertainty. Present when there were no easy answers.

Clearly Christian prayers like this meant so much to me: “Lord, you know our situation. You know how this will all end. In Your infinite wisdom, mercy and grace, please help us, guide us, direct us.”

That is the kind of prayer that feels honest in danger and honest in life. The Lord does know the whole story when we can only see the next step. He knows the ending when we are still standing in the smoke, the wreckage, the wilderness, or the dark.

This story felt like running through the wilderness with one hand gripping the truth and the other reaching for prayer.

I also loved this line: “Thank You, Lord, for Your love, grace and mercy, for seeing us through this time.” That gratitude matters to me because this story is about surviving what is chasing you, discovering the truth, and recognizing the One who sees you through.

By the end, I was grateful Bethany and Joshua had answers, but I was even more grateful for the reminder that when everything familiar is stripped away, the Lord still knows exactly who we are.

Survival in the Mountains gave me heart-pounding suspense, characters I cared about, and faith that gave the peril deeper meaning. The relentless pursuit kept me turning pages, but the prayers made this story mean even more to me.

This is wilderness suspense with threats in the trees, secrets in the shadows, and the steady reminder that God is never lost, even when we are.

I discovered Carrie Stuart Parks' books several years ago, devouring her Gwen Marcey series and a couple of stand alone books in a month's time. Unfortunately I had completely missed the book she published with Love Inspired Suspense last fall, so I'm going to have to find some time to read that one. But when I realized that Survival in the Mountains was releasing a couple of months ago, I knew I had to read it. Let's just say, I am very glad I did, it's an awesome romantic suspense book. It was a quick read at just over 200 pages, and I was able to zing through it in a couple of days.

The reader enters the story in the middle of peril. Bethany, our FMC is being pulled out of her blazing vehicle by Joshua, our MMC, after an "accident." We get to see the story from both of their points of view, so we know Joshua is a good guy, though Bethany has her doubts, for reasons I won't disclose. Bethany on the other hand? We don't really know much about her at first, because she has amnesia from her car accident. All we know is that someone ran her off the road and now she is running for her life, aided by Joshua. To make matters crazier, it's discovered that either she is being erased from existence, or the things she starts remembering about herself aren't the truth about her life.

The danger keeps ramping up as they try to figure out who is trying to kill Bethany and why. Plus Joshua is dealing with his own dilemmas. This story definitely kept me on the edge of my seat and zinging through the pages to figure out what in the world was going on. I was quite intrigued when they started to figure things out.

Of course, it is a Love Inspired book, so there is going to be some romance. Bethany and Joshua really don't know each other, but the time they spend together trying to keep her safe, evade the bad guys, and find answers starts to draw them together. But they both have pasts that make it difficult to open up to the other and start a relationship. Part of me did wonder if it wasn't quite the right time or circumstances to be falling for each other, especially because she couldn't remember details about her life, and he was hiding things about his. But I liked the way their relationship, and that both of them were Christians and would pray to the Lord.

And of course, this is a Carrie Stuart Park book, so there is going to be a dog. And boy did I love Izzy. She was actually important to the plot, not just a pet that gets mentioned every now and then.

I loved the way everything was wrapped up at the end with no loose ends, though I did think some things seemed a bit rushed.

All in all, this is an awesome romantic suspense book, and one I highly recommend.

I received an e-copy of this book through NetGalley and was not required to write a favorable review. These are my own honest thoughts.

First and foremost, a large thank you to NetGalley, Carrie Stuart Parks, Harlequin Romance, and Love Inspired Suspense for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

After years of following Carrie Stuart Parks and eagerly awaiting each new release, this latest novel left me more disappointed than entertained. I used to devour her books, drawn in by the strong suspense, sharp pacing, and compelling storytelling. However, in recent years, her work seems to have shifted more heavily toward the Christian and romance markets, and while that will certainly appeal to many readers, it no longer aligns with what originally drew me to her writing.

The premise of the story itself had promise, with a woman suffering from amnesia is rescued from a burning vehicle in rural Idaho, only to discover that both she and her rescuer are being hunted. Bethany Hall slowly pieces together fragments of her past, learning she had been searching for her missing sister and aunt before her identity was seemingly erased. Alongside Joshua, the man who saved her, she attempts to uncover the truth while evading dangerous individuals who seem intent on silencing her permanently.

While the story flowed smoothly enough, I found myself detached from it almost immediately. The suspense lacked the sharpness and urgency I had come to expect from Parks’ earlier novels, and the characters never fully developed into people I truly cared about. Bethany and Joshua had moments of intrigue, but there was little emotional or narrative pull to keep me invested in their journey. Even the mystery itself failed to generate the tension needed to make the pages turn quickly.

Perhaps my tastes as a reader have changed, or perhaps Parks is now writing for a different audience than the one that first discovered her thrillers years ago. Either way, this novel simply did not resonate with me the way her earlier works once did. Longtime fans of her newer direction may still find plenty to enjoy here, but for me, this felt like the end of my reading journey with Carrie Stuart Parks. I genuinely wish her continued success and know many loyal readers will still appreciate what she brings to the genre, even if this one ultimately missed the mark for me.

Kudos, Madam Parks, for impressing your new fan base.

This story starts out SO WELL and grabbed my attention immediately, very few stories do that for me lately. Loved both Joshua and Bethany, both are heroic and solid characters that had my heart. And oh that Izzy the Dog, she was my hero THROUGHOUT this story! There's also a horse, but the horse is only in a few scenes and kept safely out of danger.

Then Izzy gets hurt by the bad guys in the middle of the book...I simply can't stand it when an animal gets hurt, ruins the story for me (example of this from the Avatar movie sequel when the momma whale and baby whale are killed-no more Avatar for my family). And there's A LOT of blood from Izzy's injury so sensitive readers beware. She's okay and saves the day more than once after her injury, but the story is not the same for me after that.

Turns out one of the culprits in the story is a family member of Bethany's and that ruined the conclusion for me. So even though this book is considered Christian fiction (the main characters pray more than once in the plot, however, the family member scoffs at the prayer and that should have been a red flag for me right there...stop reading, but I didn't). Truly wanted to see how Joshua, Bethany and Izzy made it out of this heart thumping story. There is one more HUGE Izzy scare at the end, and I have to say, that wasn't cool for us animal lovers to do that.

I wanted to love this story, but realizing the plot twist and how diabolical that was for the main characters, I can't recommend this book. Parks is an outstanding writer, she brings it to life very well, but those details mentioned were not enjoyable for me. I read another book similar to this in Christian fiction years ago where the girl's uncle was corrupt and tries to kill her to get away with it, I refuse to read fiction where the family member does this. I want to be uplifted and edified, Survival in the Mountains failed at doing this.

Suffering from amnesia after being run off the road, Bethany Hall has no choice but to trust her rescuer, a man who lives in a cabin near where her car was run off the road and then caught on fire. Joshua MacGregor is a good guy, a man who is undercover as a Fish and Game officer and who is in the middle of a covert op when he rescues Bethany. The two of them face really weird circumstances where nothing is as expected and everything in Bethany’s life isn’t just a mystery. Even what she remembers is not lining up with her current reality. This is a fast-paced and action-packed book that kept me engaged and guessing. I enjoyed the dynamics between the characters and especially liked the humor that the author used at times to break the tension of bad actors who want to kill Bethany even when she has no idea why. The two work together to solve the mystery, dropping clues and red herrings for me as they escaped from the bad guys in one harrowing situation after another. The plot threads were intricately woven together and the author did a good job of making sure that the conclusion brought everything together in a satisfying way that explained the mysteries, the relationships and the motives. This intriguing romantic suspense balanced action well with a budding romance and I thoroughly enjoyed both elements in the story.

I usually love the Love Inspired Suspense line from Harlequin, but this one really missed the mark for me. The premise somehow managed to be both over-the-top and underdeveloped at the same time — a woman’s identity is completely erased and she’s relentlessly stalked over… fake anti-aging huckleberries? The logic behind almost every major plot point fell apart the more I thought about it. A small-time fraud operation can wipe someone from federal databases in 24 hours, yet the FMC simply existing as a distant relative is apparently enough to threaten the entire scheme?

The romance didn’t help either. The book leaned hard into “love at first sight,” but there was zero chemistry between the leads, and the dialogue felt painfully forced and cheesy throughout. Even potentially dramatic elements — like the ex-fiancé getting engaged to the FMC’s sister — were barely explored beyond a few casual mentions. It all felt strangely shallow for a romantic suspense novel.

I will say the dog was easily the best part of the book, and the ending twist, while completely out of nowhere, did at least patch up a few lingering plot holes. Still, the whole thing had strong “ring before spring” energy and never really earned either the romance or the suspense for me.

What an addictive read, I was quickly caught into the story and never quite knew which way it was going to go. The characters were strong people with problems we could understand and relate to. The storyline was compelling and had a good pace.

When a car accident leaves Bethany with amnesia and in the company of Joshua she doesn't know what to think. Joshua is the strong silent type who doesn't give much away and has his own secrets meaning he cannot say much about himself.  Thankfully he managed to rescue Bethany's dog Izzy who helps break the ice between them and makes Bethany feel safer. It quickly becomes apparent that Bethany is being hunted and they end up on the run together trying to piece together who Bethany is and who is chasing after them. Joshua is also battling memories from his past which he needs to find the courage to overcome to be the man Bethany needs.

This book was full of danger, courage and faith and I didn't put it down once I started reading it until I got to the satisfying end. It had just the right mix of drama, hint of romance and great animal support in Izzy. I will definitely be looking out for more books by Carrie Stuart Parks.

This was a fun romantic suspense by Carrie Stuart Parks! When Joshua finds a woman in a car accident who has no memory of who she is or how she got there, he has his work cut out for him keeping her safe from an unknown threat. As her memory starts to come back, they have to stay 1 step ahead of the bad guys as they figure out why they're after her. This book hit the ground running and didn't let up till the end. There were a few twists and turns throughout and the mystery kept unraveling till the very end. There was also a solid faith thread as both Joshua and Bethany were looking to God for help in their conundrum. I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense and mystery elements of this story. However, the romance, as it is wont to do in love inspired books, moved too quickly for my liking. The overall story was excellent though, and I always like when there is a dog character included as well. Fans of romantic suspense where the romance is intense like the suspense will be sure to enjoy this one. Special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-copy of this novel. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

Bethany Hall was forced off the road and then rescued by undercover Fish and Game officer Josh McGregor. There are two problems out of the gate. One is that Bethany cannot remember who she is, so she certainly cannot remember why someone would want to kill her. The second is that Josh needs to maintain his cover that he has worked hard to establish, which will later cause conflict between him and Bethany. But Josh puts aside his hesitation because he knows Bethany needs protection.

The tension is relentlessly turned up as each chapter opens up with turbo charged action and danger as they are on the run from an unknown enemy. It would definitely help if they knew why, and the reasons as slowly revealed.

As Bethany's memories returned, it was very interesting to see the why and the who. There was a light faith thread woven into the story as well.

Kudos to the author for that dynamite ending. I was slack jawed at a twist I would have never believed if I had not just read it off the pages.

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thank you to Love Inspired Suspense and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Carrie Stuart Parks brings us a love inspired suspense novel filled with courage, danger and faith. While rescuing a woman from a burning car crash, undercover Fish and Game office Josh McGregor doesn't know he will be drawn into a dangerous plot. Bethany can remember being pushed off the road by a big black truck, but doesn't know why. When the truck shows up at Josh's cabin with armed men inside, Josh knows that he will have to help Bethany get off the mountain, while not exposing his undercover identity. As they race through the Idaho wilderness, avoiding traps and their enemies, they must also find her aunt and sister who have went missing. With more memories surface, it becomes clear that more innocent lives are at stake.

As they continue to run for their life, it becomes clear that their feelings for each other are very strong. This books embraces the faith that they have and their courage when dangers lurk around every corner. If you are looking for a novel that embraces faith and courage, then this is a read for you.

"Survival in the Mountains" is a Christian romantic suspense. Joshua lost his family in a tragedy, so he choose a dangerous job as an undercover officer in a remote area to try to stop some suspected crime in the area. He saved Bethany when someone ran her off the road, but she couldn't remember much about the last few weeks or anything about the last hours. They started to retrace the research that led her to visit a previously unknown relative in the mountains when things got worse. Someone's erasing her identity, claiming that her house isn't hers, not to mention trying to kill her. I liked that Bethany's clever when she had to escape bad guys, and Joshua and Bethany worked well together. I cared about what happened to them. However, the reason the bad guys needed to kill her was a little hard to believe.

The main characters occasionally prayed. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this interesting novel.

I received a free ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

Get ready for an intense pulse pounding read that starts with a car crash and an ending that you won't see coming. The first thing Bethany knows is that some man is dragging her from her car. When she comes to again, she is in a cabin with a man who is trying to get her to open her eyes. That man is Joshua who had heard the car crash and pulled Bethany and her dog, Izzy to safety. Bethany has no memory of what happened, where she is at or even what her name might be. Little by little her memory starts coming back, then two men show up looking for her. Joshua is trying to keep his past and present a secret for reasons that might get him hurt or killed. Will Joshua put his life on the line to help Bethany stay alive long enough to get her memory back? I didn't want this book to end and I will be getting the previous book. Plus I am looking forward to reading more books from this author. I want to thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. If you love suspense that will keep you turning the pages and twists that will shock you, then this book is for you.
