Rate this book
Fallon is just like every other Arrival brought to Harrizel—an alien planet restoring the human race after a fatal war left Earth in ruins. But once viewing the all-day work camps and the nightly, orgy-like atmosphere, Fallon suspects her hosts, the Dofinikes, might have a secret agenda of their own.

With everything on a strict schedule and talking forbidden, Fallon makes up her mind to escape. Finding it’s harder than she expected, hunger forces her to turn to the Market—an underground system run by two rival Clans. It’s after an unexpected excursion that she crosses paths with Reid, an ex-Clan member who seems to know more than he's letting on, especially why everyone is so eager to do everything he says.

But with his newfound attention, the Clans have taken an interest in Fallon. The Dofinikes want more repopulating and with people going missing, time is running out. Fallon must solve the mystery of her rescue and discover the truth behind Earth’s ultimate demise, all while protecting her heart from the one man who could shatter it forever.

Escape from Harrizel by @authorcgcoppolawrites is 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟's!!!

I was immediately drawn to this series by the gorgeous covers and Instagram reel that summed up each book without giving anything away. I don't usually buy an entire series at once since I like to read the first book then decide if I like it, but something about this series captured my attention and I bought all four books so I don't have to wait for the next adventure.

This is a perfect blend of sci-fi and fantasy. The start of the adventure did an excellent job drawing me in and wanting to know more. The main character, Fallen, is the type of character I like best for first person POVs. She wasn't annoying and didn't do anything out of character or act rashly when she should've listened. We learn things as she learns them. It was fun trying to work out the mystery and what a find it is! I wasn't expecting the horror of the twist. I had a few ideas tossed around, but I was far from the truth. The build up to the reveal was perfect.

Another thing done well was the world building. While the book takes place in mostly one location, I never felt like the setting got boring or I got tired of trying to work out what was happening. Enough information is given to make this a page turner. One thing I wish would have been done better was the amount of new characters added in the middle of the story. It was a lot of introductions with no circle back to most of them to make them important to me as a reader.

However, the pacing of Escape from Harrizel was done very well. Nothing felt rushed, not even the ending of the story. The author really took time fleshing out Harrizel and the moments with the characters. By the end, I felt like I had a good grasp of the place and people in it. I also loved the fight scenes! They were written so well!

My last focus is on the romance. I. LOVED. IT. I could literally feel the tension between the two. I won't say more about it cuz I don't wanna spoil anything. But it's the type of romance that is more a subplot, which also serves as the main plot, without overtaking the main storyline. Beautifully done!

My final thoughts: buy this series ASAP so it can become one of your favorites like it is for me. I've only read the first book, but I can tell I'm going to love the rest. It's been a long time since I've found a series that's pulled me in the way this one has. It's such a good read!

Best series ever.

I have read and reread the books so many times. Thank you so much for creating a story that’s just as amazing as the first time the 20th time I’ve read it.

Cannot believe I am just finding this series and it is not more popular. CG Coppola deserves recognition for such an amazing story and talent. I am obsessed and will not stop reading until I have completed this series. The new worlds created and they way they are built and presented is pure magic. Not a single character I do not like, even the "bad" people. Such talent!!! PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!!

Escape from Harrizel is a novel about an alien race, the Dolfinkes, coming to Earth to rescue the last surviving humans from their self destruction through war and global warming, taking them to their own planet to live in a castle known as Harrizel. It is a haven where they can work together, day in, day out, to build a new life for themselves and repopulate. A second chance… or is it? (Anybody who needs a hint, take a look at the book title!)

There was a good mystery threaded through the story, constantly challenging you to work it out before the characters did, adventure and romance. The world building was very deep and vast, I was impressed with how it ws threaded through the story without being an info dump.

Escape From Harrizel starts with the point of view character, Fallon, waking up on the floor of an unfamiliar home with an older man present, getting the character to their feet and trying to make them remember what supposedly happened. This was where I did have a significant issue with the story what was deeply ingrained until the halfway point, but always present to some extent. It turns out Fallon is a woman, but this is not revealed until at least 10% into the story, and then only one brief mention, which I began to think was a typo. She acted very masculine, and more importantly her mind was masculine.

While feeling weak and vulnerable, the older man, Clarence, guides her into a living room and places her in a chair. He then take a chair – one that blocks all exits to the room for her without passing him. As she becomes increasingly suspicious of him – the name he calls her seems wrong, she has no memories of what he is saying is the past and he is getting very insistent and threatening – she thinks of escape, but never more feminine things, even briefly, such as rape.

This confusion of her sex left me with a different reaction to some of her actions such as running off. While all women are different I think even to have been told her sex earlier on would have been helpful. This didn't begin to resolve itself until she met a man in Harrizel.

This aside, the other characters were strong, and I particularly took to the dialogue, especially in scenes where a couple of the in the know people are talking over Fallon and she is having the worst time trying to understand what they are saying!

While many of the people on Harrizel subscribed to the lies being given to them and did everything the aliens asked, some, the people Fallon caught the eye of, weren't so naïve and learnt how to get around their sanctions and rules, if only by a hair's breadth. Just to escape the building seemingly made of marble and some kind of metal was a relief, passed onto the reader well. I looked forward to their meetings and escapes to see other more normal people, rather than the pod people they seemed to live amongst.

This novel was not without considerable issues, but I enjoyed it and long to know what happens next. I give it a 3.5 but for the sake of reviewing sites I must reduce this to a 3

First I have to say this was an awesome book! We all bandy about books we can't put down, but this was really one of those in those in the most literal sense, in fact I made my family mad (they got over it) and sloughed off work to finish it because I had to KNOW what happened next.

Fallon wakes up in a small house, disorientated, and in the company of a man she doesn't know. It's not only her companion that's unfamiliar; she doesn't recognize anything, including herself. With the promise that her memories will return soon, she is whisked away to Harrizel, a planet run by an alien species who are "rescuing" the humans from a war ravaged earth.

But Fallon doesn't even remember the war.

Despite her desire to escape to the lush jungle surrounding the compound she's forced to call home, Fallon soon falls in with a group of fellow refugees, including the child Pratt, her new bestie Abel, and the tasty Reid, and discovers a dark, sinister secret under the facade of friendly help that the aliens are offering.

Can Fallon and her new found friends stop the disappearances, or will they be the next victims?

As I said, I loved this book! Like a good anime, the beginning leaves you scratching your head, and then slowly the puzzle pieces fall into place and leave you shouting "Aha!" The romance is well done - I had several "squee" moments - and I didn't see several of the plot twists coming, which is a nice change. I'm looking forward to the second book!

Fallon is brought to Harrizel by Clarence, supposedly because Earth has been destroyed by war. The rulers of this new world, Dofinikes, claim they want to save as many humans as possible in order to restore the human population. But it soon becomes apparent that all is not as it seems and sinister forces are at work.

With no memories of who she is or of the destruction of the earth Fallon discovers she’s not alone. None of the humans brought to Harrizel can remember a time before. Yet she feels drawn to ruins of Ellae in the jungle outside the confines of the camp where the humans are kept, even though she can’t think why she should feel such a sense of belonging.

Fallon is a strong and courageous protagonist who won’t give in and is determined to find out what the Dofinikes' agenda really is. She teams up with Reid and his clan, the Rogues, to plan their escape and stop the disappearances before they themselves are taken. They also need to find their memories which are stored somewhere in the Dofinikes' castle.

An intriguing sci-fi story, well written and visual with good pacing, plenty of action and a fizzing romance between Fallon and Reid. The thing with fizz though, is it tends to explode if it's churned up enough. And after an intense inner struggle Fallon allows her heart to rule her head. Has she made the right decision?

I enjoyed this book. It's the first of the series, so I'll be popping right into the next one.

It starts out quick and keeps on hopping. I had to get used to the first person/present tense, as I don't typically read that style, but it captured me quickly.

Fallon is a great main character. She's strong-willed and feisty. I really wanted to know more about her and her role on the new world Coppola created. This book ended with me shouting "GAH!" and buying the next book. I didn't get all my questions answered, but seeing that there's two other books currently available, and another on its way, I'm sure I'll get what information I need. So, if you want all the answers by the end of the first book, then that might be a downside.

Oh, and speaking of the end of the book...Goodness! That bonus material? You get scenes from Reid's POV, and it's fantastic. It makes me believe there's even more to Fallon to discover.

I will be continuing with this series.

Fallon is taken from Earth to a place run by alien creatures called the Dofinikes. They claim to be the saviours of the human race and want them to rebuild after Earth's downfall. But all is not what it seems. Fallon wants to escape, but as she starts breaking the rules, she learns more about the Dofinikes and their plans for the humans. I thought this was well written, with a good storyline and the Dofinikes were suitably mysterious. I would recommend this book.
