I read an ARC copy from the author. We meet Violet, a young woman who has a weak heart and it trying to find a cure. She found an ancient fae text that talked about thr frost flower and its healing benefits. She sets out to the forest in search of it and also rescues a small demon stuck in the snow. We meet Joon, fae Crown Prince who is known for his ruthlessness and destruction. He finds the human who went into faelands illegally and stole his flower. Violet makes a bargain for her life in exchange for helping him with whatever he needs. The Choosing aka picking a human bride is rigged this year and he takes Violet with him. Joon is not what he seems and Violet intends to get to know him while in their bargain. Violet is unlike any human Joon as ever met...there is smtg about her that is unusual but alas she is the 7th bride and his time is running out. Can Joon lift his curse before its too late or Will Violet become just another consequence of the curse?

This was a good balance of mystery and romance, set in a charming wintery world. Violet takes a frost flower from the forest in the hopes it will help cure her weak heart, but in doing so she's trespassed on Fae lands and stolen the last hope of a cure for the wicked prince. He tracks her down and she is forced to bargain, and they form a marriage of convenience, with her indebted to help him with his quest.
It has great tension as Joon and Violet are forced to work together, as they tackle demon threats, hunt for the frost pieces, and try to stop the white dragon from rising.
There are plenty of secrets and mysteries alongside trying to cure their curses, and I loved the demon companions especially Bear.
Their romance develops over time as they find strength and trust in each other, and their feelings shift into desire and devotion.

"Everyone deserves to be loved - even cursed princes"

"You are the fate I choose, just as I am yours"

"If you let me, I would bow to you every day for the rest of my life to show you how deeply I love you"

"Most people don't know how to handle what they do not understand, and it can make them seem uncaring when the opposite is true"

**ARC REVIEW**

Wicked Prince of Frost by Ali Winters is Book 5 in the Wicked Princes Collection — and it absolutely does not disappoint. Fast-paced, full of heart, and brimming with tension, this story had me hooked from the very first page. The world-building is rich and immersive, blending fae, demons, and humans into a beautifully dangerous setting that feels alive. The action, twists, and emotional moments kept me turning pages late into the night.

Violet Hawthorn, a human doomed to die from a broken heart, is a heroine you can’t help but root for. When her desperation drives her to the wicked fae prince Joon, their fates intertwine in a dangerous, captivating bargain. I loved watching their relationship evolve — from enemies bound by necessity to reluctant allies, and finally to something deeper. Their chemistry is undeniable, the tension perfectly balanced, and the spice absolutely sizzling.

Another incredible addition to The Wicked Princes Collection! If you love morally gray heroes, strong heroines, and darkly romantic fairy-tale retellings, Wicked Prince of Frost is a must-read.

Thank you to Ali Winters for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

From the desk of Ali Winters comes Wicked Prince of Frost, book five of the Wicked Princes series. This is a standalone book and can be read on its own.

He promised to heal her broken heart. If she's not careful, he may end up taking it for himself.

Violet Hawthorn will die of a broken heart.

When the Prince summoned the Winter Dragon from the depths of the Underworld, he not only cursed the kingdom of Arum, but also weakened Violet's heart.

She's lived much longer than she was already expected to with her heart condition... but she is desperate for a cure. Something that will possibly stop her condition....and so she decides to risk it all, quite literally, by smuggling a forbidden fae text from her place of work...

And in it, she discovers a rare plant that may bring her hope....

Until the Prince tracks her down.

What does Violet do? Strike a bargain with a fae prince, knowing that she is now truly risking it all to help him... so she can keep her life. She will become his vessel of power and try and help him break his curse....

Or she will die trying.

To say that I absolutely fell head over heels for this story would be... an understatement....

And quite frankly I refuse to hold back anything that does not give this novel the attention and adoration it deserves...

Everything from the tensions, the way the characters acted around each other, the emotions, and the world... the blossoming from Joon and Violet being enemies and hating each other to something so much more than both of them had ever expected.... Everything felt so beautifully done that I just wanted to keep knowing more as I flipped each page, devouring every single word that I read...

There is something that I feel comes to life within these pages, something organic and almost as if it has a soul.... something that drew me in, then refused to let me go until I had absolutely devoured this novel within the span of a few hours after receiving it... to where I spent the next couple of minutes staring off into space at my wall, trying to gather my thoughts. (And probably throwing some unnecessary dopamine around in the process.) It was just that good.

I cannot wait to read the next work from Ali when the time comes around, and I cannot wait to read this over and over and over again. I will happily accept the book coma that I know is setting in already...

I am voluntarily leaving a review as I read an advanced copy of this stunning novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and the rest of my reviews can be found at: https://littlereapling.wixsite.com/fa....

(P.S. Excuse me I'm going to go yell in the corner now, again, at how amazing this was.)

Let me start with I read this straight through for 8 hours and went to bed at 3am.... Crying!! 🥹 This is just so beautifully written!!
Evenerything about Wicked Prince of Frost is just A+! From the world building, to character depth, to emotion, and prose! Ali Winters knows how to hook you in chapter to chapter. And I just couldn't put it down.
This story has it all: "will they, won't they". Mysteries and red herrings. Unique demon sidekicks. Loyal best friends. Dragons. A deadly curse. Grumpy/Sunshine. And a marriage of convenience entangled with a magical life bond and dependency.
Wicked Prince of Frost is a gender swapped Ice Queen retelling, crafted with beautiful Asian culture influence. It is a fantastic read for the upcoming colder months.
It is also part of The Wicked Princes series. A collection of authors who have written 6 stand alone stories where villains get the girl, and happily-ever-afters taste like blood and desire. This whole series is amazing!

This is an excellent read.
It has a dark hero in Joon and a strong heroine in Violet. I couldn’t help but root for Joon, even though he is the bad, but good guy. Sometimes bad-boys are just too tempting!
I like Violet, she doesn’t give up and is determined to survive.
Boy… does their chemistry sizzle. I love their banter, longing looks, and the spice level is spot-on.
This story, has a great plot, with plenty of twists and turns, and two great leading characters.
I was hooked from the first page and couldn’t put this down. This is a very, very good read!

I read an ARC copy. Loved this story so much. Being AuDHD, I tend to see the patterns and figure out plot twists and surprises most of the time. I did not! even have an inkling about a certain special objects hiding place at all. The ending was also a bit unexpected. I hope to be able to read more about the friends and family of Violet and Joon. Also, I want my own Bear. They seem like a wonderful companion.

This book has bits and pieces that remind me of Beauty and the Beast as well as One Thousand and One Nights/ Arabian Nights or The Wrath and The Dawn. You get some lovely characters, demons, demon bonds, dragon guardians, a curse, forced proximity, fae, fae bargains, forbidden love, betrayal, and positivity in the bleakest of situations. Between the frosty MMC and the bravely optimistic FMC it is truly hard to have a favorite. The FMC makes me want to be a better person.

I enjoyed this story while also internally screaming through so much of it. It reminded me of reading Zodiac Academy without me wanting to burn the book afterwards because of the insane cliffhangers. Kind of like watching a horror movie when they’re about to go in the basement and you’re screaming “don’t go in the basement”…. It was a fun ride even if it was a daunting one.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️

In the midst of all the Christmas books I am reading, I was happy to read a book that takes place in winter, but has nothing to do with Christmas. Book 5 in Wicked Princes series, The Wicked Prince of Frost is a gender swapped, reimagining of The Snow Queen. Ali Winters gives her readers romance, mystery, and fantasy all wrapped into one amazing story. Each of these books can be read as standalones, but has been an amazing series so far.

Doomed to die from a broken heart, Violet is not accepting her fate lying down. Desperate for a cure and willing to do almost anything, she goes to great lengths to extend her life. When a Winter Dragon is summoned from the Underworld, her heart is weakened even more. She ends up sneaking a rare text from her work, hoping to find something to help. She finds hope in the book and her boss, the Prince, finds her.

Prince Joon has his own curse to break and in finding Violet with his text, he strikes up a deal with her. She can keep her life if she helps him. But there are unseen dangers that Violet is not aware of. Joon is complex, misunderstood, and broody. He is confused by the pull Violet has on him. As these two go from enemies, to reluctant allies, to something deeper, nothing could prepare them for the impact they would have on each other.

Ali has written a story that combines some of my favorite tropes. Each chapter catapults you into the next chapter, leaving you needing more. I always love seeing authors take beloved fairytales and well known stories and put their own spin on it. This reimagining was not only gender swapped, but there is beautiful Asian culture and influence woven throughout. This is a great book to read if you are ready for the colder months, but not quite wanting to get into Christmas reading yet.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

What to Expect:
❄️Gothic Romance
💔Forced Proximity
❄️Forbidden Love
💔Cursed Prince MMC
❄️Determined FMC
💔Snow Queen Reimagined
❄️Touch Her and 💀

I love the take on a Beauty and the Beast / Bluebeard scenario. Non-spoilery: The author comes up with a unique magical scenario that requires intimacy.

Spoiler: Violet steals the frost bloom thinking it could heal her heart problems, but Prince Joon and his kingdom need the power of a fully matured frost bloom. The curse on Prince Joon has required him to receive life essence from a willing person to kiss him. It becomes especially important since Violet has that frost bloom magic in her and also especially tragic because Violet already has a chronically ill condition, resulting in a bad heart. So intimacy has to happen, while trust and friendship grow slowly.

I’m always happy when there’s a chronically ill lead, especially in fantasy. There was nothing I read that wouldn’t speak to someone’s lived experience, the struggles in the body and the struggles in the mind and spirit. Frustration, turning inward, feeling sometimes like it’s your fault. Prince Joon helps her see how strong she is, how much harder she has to work, how brave she is.

The Prince is such a prince. Setting aside his eventual kindness with Violet, he is an entitled asshole. He was dealt a cruel hand, but he’s still an asshole. Very stuck up. Thinks the fae are so much better than humans. Worried about social backlash from nobility being concerned over his wife being friendly with servants. But the author does add a lot of complexity to him, and their love story does enfold organically.

Well-paced. It’s a long book, but the plot does necessitate that many pages. The tropes and plot beats that this book follows make sense in the narrative. It didn’t feel as forced, it felt planned but true to the characters or their situations. You can guess most of the plot twists, but there were enough surprises, complicated characters, and romantasy fun to be an enjoyable read. I would put it above most romantasy books.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I love this dark fantasy novel about the fae prince of frost, who everyone hated because he was cruel, cold and evil, and Violet a human young woman who everyone pitied because of her broken heart. They meet when she goes in search of a rare flower in order to mend her broken heart, but inadvertently she steps over the boundary between their worlds, and this goes against the old laws. He comes to execute justice, but instead they make a bargain, as fae are often wont to do. He needs her to help him break the curse that has been put over him, and she needs him to mend her heart, and free her people from the frost dragon's own curse. They start of as enemies but soon turn to lovers, as Violet gets to know Joon, the real prince who has become her protector vowing to keep her safe from harm whilst in Arum, and he gets to see how strong she really is even with her broken and debilitating heart. This is a beautiful dark romance, with many loyal characters as well as those who betray in the worst possible ways. I love the little demon Bear who has bonded with Violet and is so loyal to her. I also love the siblings Mingi and Iseul who never once waver in their loyalty to Joon. I love the heat in this book and I am sure there is much more that could follow the tale of these two powerful characters, and I would love to read a follow up to this standalone novel.

Wicked Prince of Frost by Ali Winters

Wicked Prince of Frost is a thrilling and emotional addition to the Wicked Princes series that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. Ali Winters once again proves her talent for weaving together dark fantasy, romance, and intrigue in a way that feels both dangerous and deeply romantic.

This fifth installment brings a new depth to the world of Frost and the tangled web of alliances, betrayals, and passion that define it. The main characters are well-developed, with enough flaws and fire to make them feel real. The chemistry between the leads is electric, and Winters doesn’t shy away from tension—both emotional and physical.

What stands out most is the atmosphere. The icy, enchanted landscapes are beautifully described, giving the story a haunting, almost cinematic feel. There are moments where the pacing dips slightly or a few plot twists feel a touch predictable, but overall the story remains captivating and satisfying.

Fans of the series will find plenty to love here: intense romance, high stakes, and a touch of darkness that lingers long after the final page. Wicked Prince of Frost cements Ali Winters’ place as a powerhouse in the fantasy romance genre.

A solid four stars — immersive, passionate, and beautifully written.

I really enjoyed this dark fantasy standalone by Ali Winters! Violet is tenacious and even though she has a weak heart, she has a strong spirit. While desperately searching for a cure to mend her heart, she puts herself unknowingly in the path of feared Prince Joon who is known for his cruelty. She strikes a deal with the Prince (though she had little choice in the matter) to help him as he promises to help her and those she loves in return.

I could not put this book down as we are along for a bumpy ride as we navigate curses, danger, mystery, heartache (literally and figuratively), angst, and a growing connection between Violet and Joon. The complexities of their connection broke MY heart while also wanting more as by the end there was nothing either one of them would not sacrifice for the other. Shout out to Bear as well, because every FMC should have a cute terrifying lil demon at their side, I'm just saying.

Solid read with a unique plot full of twists and turns! I would say 4.5 stars and only took off a smidge because the way the HEA came about just fell flat for me and didn't sit right. Definitely get the HEA, thank goodness but WTF Joon?! So much I want to say about that, but that's just my opinion :)

Wow this book had me hooked from page 1. The rollercoaster of emotions I went through was crazy. I think my heart was wanting to pull a Violet a few times.

Joon and Violet were a fun pair. Human and fae prince that met because Violet took a flower. I loved seeing their relationship throughout this book and how they changed as the story went on especially Joon.

Joon is cursed and trying to find the solution. Violet is suffering from a “broken heart” which is slowly killing her. What happens when they meet and make a bargain? Will Joon find his solution? Will Violet find a solution to her broken heart issue? Or will they succumb to their problems?

The plot twist towards the end had me shocked reading it even though I had a suspicion it would happen. Technically there were a few twists and while one I wasn’t expecting the rest I kinda suspected but wasn’t completely sure until I read them happening.

Overall I loved this book and I wish we got more it was so good. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I wanted more. Not just more after why we got but more from some of the other characters. Id give this book 4.5 stars easily. I read this book as an arc.

When Prince Joon summoned the Winter Dragon from the depths of the Otherworld and cursed the kingdom of Arum, it created a storm that nearly killed Violet and left her heart forever weakened. Desperate to survive, Violet takes a dangerous risk, stealing a forbidden fae text and accidentally trespassing onto fae lands, where death is the price for such a crime.

Wicked Prince of Frost by Ali Winters is easily my favorite book in the Wicked Princes series so far. The world-building is breathtaking and immersive, the magic system feels fresh and fully realized, and even the secondary characters have depth and purpose. The character growth throughout is beautifully done, making the emotional beats hit even harder.

And the plot, perfectly paced, engaging, and full of tension that kept me hooked from start to finish.

If you love fantasy worlds steeped in danger, magic, and heart, this book absolutely delivers.

I received an ARC of this book. This review contains my own thoughts and opinions.

This was another solid book in the Wicked Princes’ collection.

The story develops organically, but there are times when the timeline doesn’t quite make sense. I like how tenacious Violet is and that she depends to be an active participant. Joon is a well-written MMC and definitely has swoon-worthy moments. His growth comes through well and fits the character. The cast of side characters are excellent additions to the plot line and play key parts in the story. The villain was hinted at throughout the story, but that’s all you get because I don’t do spoilers.

The ending did leave me a little let down, as it was kind of lack luster and disappointing. There are also a number of editing errors in the last 10% of the book.

I really enjoyed this story. Just like the other books in this series, you want to dislike the prince at first but then your opinion of him will change throughout the story. I love the world building for this story and how the fae travel. As the main characters grow together, their banter and attraction get better and better. I would highly recommend this story if you like enemies to lovers, fae and humans, and redemption stories.
Violet is stronger than she knows but her heart condition may bring her life to an end too quickly. Once she bargains with the Crown Prince she hopes that he will be able to extend her life. Unknown to her and the prince, Violet is the missing piece that the prince needs to keep the dragon at bay.

This story was absolutely captivating. It drew me into the storyline immediately. It proves how hard misunderstandings are and how they can change someone's fate. You have two characters living completely different lives yet destined for each other. Violet is strong-willed, determined, has the world on her shoulders as she's trying to overcome a condition with no cures. She accidentally stumbled on something though that sets the timeline of events out of everyone's control. Joon also has the world on his shoulders. Curses are never easy to break though. And a bargain is established forever connecting two young souls. Their survival is in each other's hands. I highly recommend this book where if there is a will there is a way but definitely complicated and a hard path. I feel so lucky to have been able to read this arc.

Time lapses annoy me

Not the ones in the middle of the story, but the ones that come RIGHT before the end. Why do so many authors feel the need to have the man (it's always the man) disappear for months or even years after defeating the villain and leave the woman to move on in sadness before we FINALLY get the happy ending that we knew was coming from page one? I seriously don't see what it adds. I also have some issues with the ending. Is he just doomed to be forever separated from his brother and friends now? Cause not cool. I'm glad they got their romantic happy ending, but he needs MORE family, not less.

For a villain who combines the worse of Jack Frost, Bluebeard and Smaug, Prince Joon displays more fire than frost, and boy, did I find that attractive. I am pleased that Violet agrees, because the action was awesome, the romance was touchingly steamy and the sparks scorching. It helps that there are other villains in the wings to allow Joon and Violet to strut their stuff and to the unexpected HEA they deserve. Such a good read - I literally finished the morning I received it.

An excellent stand-a-lone fantasy with a great storyline and an outstanding cast of characters. Violet(human) and Joon(fae) are really great main characters and well developed. This page turning story has great world building, lots of action, several plot twists, and some steamy romance. A very enjoyable and emotional read that I highly recommend. Another great book in the Wicked Princes series by an outstanding group of authors.

I like that in the end it gave all the definitions. I thought I was able to see where this book was headed but was pleasantly thrown off. I wanted this couple so much and wanted the curse broke did not see where the last piece of the puzzle was hidden though. We all knew the king was bad though but the rest was lots of pleasant little nuggets along the way. Also finally a demon "dog" and not a cat!!
