The Irresistible Warrior: Highland Wishes Trilogy Book Two

Rate this book
Three warriors. Three wishes. One woman who refuses to fall for the magic.

Declan of Clan MacCrone made a wish, an arrogant one, he admits. He wanted women to fall at his feet. The wish was granted… quite literally.

Now, wherever he goes, women faint. Trip. Collapse. It’s a spectacle that’s followed him across the Highlands and one his clan could no longer tolerate. Sent to lead a struggling village in need of a chieftain, Declan hopes to escape the worst of the curse. Instead, he meets Aura.

A woman who doesn’t swoon.

Aura is practical, sharp-minded, and far more interested in plants than men. She doesn’t have time for cursed warriors or the strange pull she feels toward the infuriatingly handsome chieftain. But when danger strikes, and rumors swirl, a marriage of convenience becomes the safest path forward, for the village and for themselves.

What begins as a logical arrangement quickly tangles into something neither expected. And as the mystery deepens—an abduction attempt, a whisper of dark magic, a past neither fully understands—Declan realizes that Aura may be the key to unraveling his curse… if he doesn’t lose her first.

Because in the Highlands, love is rarely simple, and every wish has its price.

Declan wished for women to fall at his feet, but he never expected his wish to be granted quite literally. Exiled to lead Clan McCrone, he sought the advice of healers who could rid him of what he believed was a curse. This led him to Aura, a woman untouched by his wish. With her deep knowledge of plants and healing, she agreed to help him with his dilemma. As they worked together to solve the problem, their feelings for each other began to grow.

But trouble soon followed when a warlock targeted Aura and Declan as part of his revenge. It took all their strength and courage to stop him, and eventually, the curse on Declan was lifted.

The Irresistible Warrior is the second book in Donna Fletcher’s Highland Wishes Trilogy. It continues the story of three friends who made their drunken wishes, weaving together a fast-paced tale filled with mystery, romance, and a touch of magic.

I love the dynamic between Declan and Aura. Their characters are well-matched and complement each other perfectly. Both of their points of view are explored equally. We see how Aura approaches curing Declan’s curse and how Declan grapples with his situation. Their love story may have developed quickly, but the journey toward it was sweet and made perfect sense.

The introduction of a new enemy was a welcome surprise. I didn’t see it coming, and it added great tension to the plot. The twist was executed skillfully, answering questions raised at the start of the book. The reappearance of the witch from the first book, along with a new character, was a nice reveal. The way they were woven into the story felt effortless, like puzzle pieces starting to fit together and setting the stage for the final book.

Although this is a novella, the story feels complete and well-crafted. The pacing, plot, and final reveal were all handled beautifully. Overall, it’s a true page-turner that kept me wondering what would happen next. I can’t wait to read the final installment.

Well, I've just finished Declan and Aura's story, and I can definitely say I enjoyed Raff and Ingrid's story, The Unencumbered Warrior, a bit more. But the only reason for that is because I didn't really feel the connection between Declan and Aura before they were in insta love.
But, I ABSOLUTELY believe that it was because of the length of the book, and NOT because the story wasn't well written.
It's a problem that I think is very common to all of the short stories I've read. They all just seemed to be a bit rushed, or not fleshed out as well as they could be, just because there isn't enough content. That said, short stories have something going for them with the simple fact that you can read them pretty quickly. Which can be a serious bonus for a reader like me, who has trouble putting a good book down once I start reading it, it keeps me from being awake and gritty eyed at 4 a.m. LOL
As for this particular short story, it was still a really good read. It was amusing, sweet, loving, magical and mysterious, and wonderful combination! And I really did like Declan and Aura. He's brave, honest, protective and loving, and makes a very good match with Aura's sweetness, courage, and intelligence.
And as always, Donna paints a beautiful picture of the historical Scottish Highlands, that at times you can almost imagine the scent of a damp autumn breeze tinged with peat smoke.
It's definitely a book that I'll be happy to read again, and again..
And I can't wait for Rhodes and Fawn's story, The Dominant Warrior, coming in December 2025!!

Never Say Your Wish Out loud........

Because if you tell your wish it might not come true. Unfortunately for three brave Highland worriers theirs came true......
After a victory in battle three Highland worriers sit around a campfire enjoying their victory and Ale. When Raff poses a question, "tell me this." "If you could have one wish, one thing granted without question-what would it be"? Little did they know a Witch was listening and granted their wishes or were they curses?
In the second book of the trilogy it's Duclan's turn for his wish to come true. He wished to "never have to search for a women let them come to me and fall at my feet."
Now every women who comes near him falls down at his feet literally. Including his Mother and Sisters so his Father banished him from his clan. Now he wonders the Highlands looking for a cure to his wish/curse. Then he meets Aura and their adventure begins. This book is a page turner, laugh out loud, oh no, adventure you wont be disappointed. I highly recommend it for and quick enjoyable read.

The Irresistible Warrior by Donna Fletcher
The Highland Wishes Trilogy Book Two
Declan, Chieftain of Clan MacCrone, made a foolish wish that didn’t turn out the way he wanted. Well, he didn’t even realize his wish would become real! He had wished to have all the bonnie lasses fall at his feet—for the past year, they literally would fall at his feet. Not at all what he meant. Be careful what you wish for!
Aura loves her little cottage in the woods, where she works with plants to make healing salves and other natural remedies. Her life changes the day when Delcan becomes chieftain, and she can walk up to him without falling. She’s plain and never planned on being a wife or mum. But, because of all the women who want to marry him, her life is in danger…the answer? Marriage. And yet, they can’t seem to get that right.
Another page-turner. I loved the characters and the storyline. Looking forward to the final sister’s story in this trilogy.

A Witch, A Healer, A Wish, A Thrilling Romance, A Fantastic Series
This amazing series started when 3 men exhausted after a horrific battle jokingly make a wish for their future:
Out of the shadows a witch has granted each their wish, but is it a wish or a curse?
This is an exciting heartfelt story of Delan and Aura two wonderful characters that captured my heart.
Delan's wish or curse gave him many unknown challenges, but his love for Aura gave him strength to carry on.
A love story that has the most explosive shocking ending that actually brought tears to this reader.
What a joy to read this story of love, courage, desirous passion and I can't wait for The Dominant Warrior.

There was 3 warrior and 3 wishes. This is book 2 of 3. This one is about an arrogant warrior Declan who wished women would fall at his feet but not the way he wanted. Now whenever a woman gets close they actually fall at his feet. His family sends him to a struggling village in need of a chief. There he meets one woman who doesn't fall at his feet, Aura. Aura interest is in plants not men, but she is attracted to Declan. When a marriage of convience happens between them, many misfortunes happen. I loved this story and so will you. You can never go wrong with reading any of Donna Fletchers stories.

This is the second in this series about 3 men who make a foolish wish which comes true. In this story we follow Declan and Aura on their road to happy ever after which didn’t happen before they had a few ups and downs. I loved the plot, it is well written, loved our hero and heroine and the people of the clan were great secondary characters. I enjoyed this story and recommend it for a fun, sexy, love story.
