A complex book! This one was a page Turner, an action book from cover to cover. Tan comes into himself as a warrior through the school of hard knocks. Watch University geeks there is a new kid on the quadrature.
Tan finds himself at the university in Ethea trying to figure out if he's a Shaper and if he can be a Cloud Warrior. He finds that the fire shapers from Incendin have infiltrated the university. When the city is attached by the draasin Tan must use his connection with them to find out why. He must use his connection with draasin to discover what the fire shapers want with an ancient artifact. The fate of the kingdom is at stake.
The story is interesting enough to not mind that his newfound powers come way to easily and with not too many side effects. It's not your typical fantasy/magic novel so it's kind of refreshing.
These books are the kind of fantasy you don't see as often these days. Good classic fantasy. Some people might say they're geared toward a younger audience, but I don't care. I enjoy them because they remind me of the kinds of stories that made me fall in love with fantasy in the first place.
This one is also a rarity in the genre because it has a single point of view character. That makes for a quicker read and a deeper connection with the character.
In all, this was a lot of fun and an improvement on the first book in the series.
A fairly standard continuation. The protagonist(s) join forces to fight the bad guys from Incendin. There are a few twists, but experienced Fantasy readers will spot them a mile away. I still enjoy the quick pace and simpleness of the plot, though, the lack of insight and understanding from Tan is somewhat annoying.

Amazing!! The first one was better, but the final part of this book was incredible. I just love this series, and there are 10!! Hope the author continues the good work. It was a fast paced book after about 30% of reading. It’s not the most original story but the characters are so lovable that you just want to read and read…
The author continues to present a consistent and fun story. The book is engaging, fun, and straight forward, a good rest for those of us that need a change of pace for a few hours.
The only thing I keep lamenting is the hero. Although brave and courageous, the guy is just too dense. He is not challenged or anything. He just mentally lazy, undisciplined, expects (needs) that all other around him provide the solution for his issues.
He is the kind of guy that wonders all the time: why me? Instead of thinking: why not? And just try.
Still the guy is likable, and thank The Maker, is always been pushed forward.
I'm really enjoying these books. They remind me of other series that I have enjoyed for similar reasons.
I love that they remind me of Avatar the Last Airbender, with the people connected to elemental power. I love that it reminds me of the first time I read the Sword of Truth series, because our protagonist has great power if he can learn to master it.
I don't mean to imply that this is a copy of any other series. It's very much its own unique story. But it's comfortable to read. It has familiar aspects.
I also really enjoy the personification of the elemental spirits. I'm excited to continue this series.
How does someone learn a skill when he has no tutor? The author gives us a ringside seat to learning this as we watch Tan in this book. Tan learns about the fire elementals that he freed from the frozen lake. He establishes contact and speaks to them telepathically. He also speaks again to the water elementals. With great fumbling and doubts about himself, he contacts the earth and the air elementals. We find that Tan is mostly interested in helping all beings grow and be true to themselves, and he tries to give himself the same chances. I really loved this book, and I think you will too.
Who controls the elements? Can Tan only sense or can he shape?
Life becomes real difficult when the past unfurls across his trip to the university. Even worse is that he discovers deceit that is unacceptable but hidden from those in power. Who really controls what he sees? Who is the one behind the attacks?
This is a journey of discovery for Tan. The author draw you in slowly, but once you accept the amazing powers that are manifest the action begins in earnest. And there is action beyond belief.
The story is not finished, stay tuned for the next book.
Editing is better than the first. Fewer grammatical mistakes. Better logic. Like many looong series, the characters don’t progress as quickly as in a trilogy. Also, like loooong series, the characters surge in ability and then backslide, somehow weaker than in earlier books. That can be frustrating and boring. Story is still pretty interesting, though.
This alone is a very good novel - the series is wonderful. I first met Tan at the beginning of the series and I've watched him steadily grow As he learned his abilities. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and I hope that you will want to pick it up and I will enjoy it as much as I am.
After recovering the artifact Tan is now at the university in Ethea. The artifact is in the possession of the king, who has no clue how to use it. But something is rotten in Ethea. There are fire attacks near Ethea and Theondar and the king assume it's the Draasid, despite Tan's assurances that it's not.
This was another great novel. I like the writing style, it's fast paced and gets to the point. A lot of novels I read dwell on the style of clothing or the jewelry well for me that's boring let's get to the action.
You must read this book and all the rest this author writes! Great book and with an ending so I get to choose wether to buy the next book or not. Of course I will. Besides being a great book, this author needs and deserves our support.
Why are books 1 & 3 not on KU? Seems strange, maybe need to have a word with the 'zon! You write very well, but peeps are likely to bypass this when already paying for KU!
Great story telling. I have enjoyed going on this journey with Tan and watching him discover who is is. I feel a lot of us do not realize our potential until we are placed in a situation where we need to rise up. And that is what Tan is doing.
This is the second book in the series and its getting really good. For the first time in ages, I've found a series that can hold my interest long enough for me to get through one book, let alone two books!
Clean, lots of action, great characters. This series is everything I look for in fantasy! Good problems, no stupid mistakes, and magic saves the day when all seems lost.
The Cloud Warrior Saga books are really great to read if you are into adventures and twists and turns in every page left me wanting to know how it ends
Great story. Leaves me longing for more. Can't wait to get next one. Thinking of reading prelude before third book. I think it will keep the story flowing.
