A fugitive on the lam, Judith was living out her dreams in a condominium in Savannah, funded by her ill-gotten gains safely stored in an offshore account, until her front door was kicked in by Fulton County SWAT before dawn, waking Judith from an alcohol induced sleep. She was escorted to jail in her pajamas and robe. Then began the phase of her life that was her worst nightmare. Jail was jail. Fulton County, no better than any other lockup, served as her temporary quarters until her transfer to the Whitworth Women’s Facility in Hart County, Georgia, nowhere near Savannah and the life she had enjoyed but would never have again. Embezzlement wasn’t the problem. Getting caught was.
Thrilling and full of suspense! Judith is intelligent, conniving and manages to fly just under the radar to get what she wants - Money, Lots of Money! She knows how the system works and can manipulate the books, her employees and management to do her bidding. No one gives her a second thought. Someone as professional as Judith could never be dishonest - or could they? This book was difficult to put down. The author's legal background and research is evident in the detailed descriptions of Judith's deception. 5 Stars!
Judith is an embezzler recently released from prison. She is not done pilfering, from an Ohio corporation to a Georgia medical clinic, Judith forges a prosperous, dishonest living. Lots of action; interesting characters.
I enjoyed the characters, especially Bergman and Leah's Dad. I also found the corporate intrigue fascinating. A page turner and a true five-star experience.
