Running from Me is a thoughtful, evocative read suited for those who appreciate character-driven stories with psychological richness and literary flair. It may not satisfy readers looking for rapid-fire plot twists or straightforward resolutions, but for those willing to immerse themselves in a nuanced exploration of self and escape, it offers rich rewards. Cairns has crafted a novel that lingers in the mind long after the final page, provoking reflection on the ways we all might be quietly running—from others, from ourselves, or from the past.
What the actual FOOK? I picked this book to be my 1st of 50 books that I'll read, in 2026. I literally read the whole book in two hours, because I couldn't help but just completely devour it. So relatable, so authentic. My flabbers have been ghasted, because this book is so confronting. Just a brilliant read.
