A Thrilling, Tense Ride
The constant pressure from the mob, the cops, and the ticking clock creates an almost claustrophobic tension. I felt like I was running alongside Tommy, fearing for every step he took. This is a high-stakes thriller done perfectly.

A fast-paced thriller that doesn't let up. The moral complexity of Tommy's situation really got under my skin - there are no easy answers here. Lost a star because some secondary characters felt underdeveloped, but the core story is powerful and the action scenes are cinematic. Would make a great movie!

This book destroyed me in the best way possible. The tension never stops building, and Bratcher isn't afraid to put her characters through absolute hell. What could have been a simple action thriller becomes a meditation on love, sacrifice, and how desperation can corrupt even good people. Absolutely phenomenal.

Gripping and morally complex. Tommy's journey is harrowing and Bratcher does an excellent job showing how one bad decision snowballs into catastrophe. The pacing occasionally drags in the middle section, but the beginning and end are absolutely riveting. A solid addition to the crime thriller genre.

Decent thriller with an interesting moral premise. The action is well-written and keeps you turning pages, but I found some of Tommy's decisions frustrating rather than sympathetic. The ending felt a bit abrupt. It's worth a read if you're a thriller fan, but don't go in expecting it to reinvent the genre

Cannot recommend this enough! Bratcher has created a protagonist you root for even as he makes increasingly terrible choices. The dual threat of law enforcement and organized crime creates relentless tension. And the emotional core - Tommy's love for Jen - never gets lost in the action. Brilliantly done.

Absolutely unputdownable! This is thriller writing at its finest. Every chapter ends with a hook that forces you to keep reading. Tommy's desperation feels visceral and real, and Bratcher doesn't take any easy outs. The violence has weight and consequences. This book will stay with me for a long time

Mixed feelings about this one. The premise hooked me immediately and the first half is genuinely exciting. But the second half felt like it recycled too many familiar thriller tropes. The ending was satisfying though, and Bratcher's writing style is engaging. A good airplane read, but not something I'll revisit.

A powerful exploration of how desperation can lead good people down dark paths. The action is intense and well-choreographed, and the emotional stakes are high throughout. Some plot conveniences stretched credibility, but overall this is a compelling, heartbreaking thriller that lingers after the final page.

Love, Loss, and Desperation
At its core, this is a story about love pushing someone to their limits. Tommy’s actions are driven by his devotion to Jen, and that emotional depth sets this thriller apart. I cried, I gasped, and I stayed glued to every page.

Edge-of-your-seat intensity! Bratcher masterfully balances the cat-and-mouse chase with genuine emotional depth. The way Tommy's world progressively narrows as both the cops and the mob close in creates incredible tension. And that ending? Gutting. This is Misty Dawn Bratcher's best work yet

Had high hopes but ultimately disappointed. The premise is interesting, but the execution felt rushed. Too many convenient coincidences to move the plot forward, and I never really connected with Tommy as a character. The writing is competent but nothing special. Not terrible, just not for me.

A taut, well-crafted thriller that asks difficult questions about morality and survival. My only criticism is that I wish we'd gotten more of Jen's perspective - she's mostly a motivating force rather than a fully realized character. But the suspense is top-notch and the ending packs a real punch.

Absolutely gripping from start to finish! Bratcher has crafted a heart-pounding thriller that kept me up until 3 AM. Tommy's descent from desperate husband to fugitive feels so authentic and morally complex. The pacing is relentless, and just when you think he might catch a break, another twist pulls the rug out. This is what thriller writing should be. Highly recommend!
