Da George bliver syg, må hun selv forsøge at redde fårefarmen, men det betyder, at hun må søge hjælp hos Connor. En mand, hun aldrig nogensinde har glemt.

Just when you think that nothing more can possibly happen.... Oh boy, how quickly you can be proved wrong!
This story is like that - from beginning to end, for Louisa, who’s journey to start a new life is immediately faced with shipwreck, and the loss of her brother. The devastating blows continue almost one after another. The characters are diverse and engaging, and the backdrop of Western Australia with some of the dialog and customs of the Aboriginal people, made for an interesting picturesque reading - very enhanced whilst listening to audible. What a powerful story of strength, determination, integrity and loyalty.

I have only just discovered this author and I found this book to be an enjoyable story with likeable characters & easy to read.
I live in Sydney, Australia, and I really do enjoy reading about Australian Historical Fiction so I found myself googling about the stations to find out if Kings or Munro were real. It's amazing to think that properties were actually that big and that they survived quite successfully in the middle of nowhere...but it makes to realise that when tragedy strikes, just how far from any kind of help they are.

A well written love story which captures the imagination

I loved reading this book. I quickly became absorbed in the characters and it was a page turner which I found difficult to put down.
Although the ending was a good ending I felt it could have gone on further to describe their lives together and the rebuilding of the stations. I was disappointed that the story came to an end when there was perhaps more to be said.

I have just finished Beneath a Stormy Sky by AnneMarie Brear. Couldn't put it down, from the very first sentence to the last it was terrific.
It was written so well I was really under the spell and living in the characters.
Loved. Loved Loved it. I have just rang my sister and told her to go and get it as she will love the book as well.
The description of Western Australia was fantastic and I could relate to it so easy, as Albany is a truly wonderful place.

Wow! What an experience! This gorgeous story kept me captivated from start to finish. I absolutely loved 'Beneath a Stormy Sky' (this title suits it) which shines with courage, endurance, powerful love (both in friendship and romance) and second chances. Of course, there are victims and villains, thievery, deaths and fires. Our heroine Louisa is amazing in how she tackles each dire situation and yes she is challenged right from the start. There are some heartbreaking moments. It is 1879 and Louisa is with her brother heading to Australia on a ship that goes down off the coast of Western Australia. She becomes a shipwreck survivor aided by an Aboriginal girl. It is obvious without the girl’s assistance, she may not have survived but it becomes a time of bonding and learning another culture and appreciating it.

What follows is quite a journey back to a white settlement on the land where she has been washed ashore. She meets some intriguing people who both help and hinder her. But through it she finds friendship and love with two men who take her under their wings and, of course, this causes quite a stir in the community.

The historical elements of this novel are well researched and I was easily transported to the setting of Western Australia and the era of the 1880’s. I really did not want to see the story end and wished there was another book to continue Louisa’s journey for it takes some unexpected turns. To see the continuation of her story would be of great interest!

This is the third book I have read now of AnneMarie’s and I have enjoyed each of them very much. I look forward to reading many more of her wonderful stories. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sobrevivente

Super recomendo a leitura.

I had a hard time rating this book, so I'll give it 3.5 stars.

I did enjoy the overall idea of the story - a shipwreck, a rescue, wrong love, right love, ending well. It's like a Hallmark movie. However, I do wish the adultery part had been left out. The story would have been great without that. BUT it's not a Christian novel, so I do understand why it was included. Adultry never turns out well...and you do learn that here, so I guess there is a lesson.

Good story. A little too Hallmarky for me, but I did enjoy it pretty well.

4 far far away stars 🌟

The author’s storytelling is addictive but there is always an extraordinary drama stretch in her books. There are so many deaths, women going crazy with rage.
I listened this as an audiobook while walking and it was so easy to get lost in the endless farmlands. The native characters were a great addition to the story. My favorite character has been George with his gentle heart and his very realistic flaws 🥹

The author has done it again and produced a rich adventuresome page-turner set in the land down under. The storyline has characters that are fully-developed and is full of subplots full of twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. If you have several 'me' hours and need to immerse yourself in a good read than this is defintiely worth your time.
