Magic has a way of finding you. No matter where you run.
Clementine Trussel has fled from her friends, imposing a self-inflicted exile to the misty Isle of Skye in Scotland. Here she hopes to come to terms with the terrible events that took place at the end of her last adventure.
But that is not her only reason for heading North.
She has reason to believe that in the township of Lochlaggert lie the answers to many of the mysteries in her life. If she can search them out, then just maybe she can understand the strange connection she shares with her master, Mr Gout.
But when her friends track her down it soon becomes clear that all is not well with Mr Gout. When the reason why becomes clear, Clementine finds herself thrust into yet another mystery.
I just adore this series, Trussel and Gout are such a brilliant duo! Death in the Misty Isle keeps the cosy-creepy vibe while really raising the stakes. The atmosphere, the humour, the folklore… it all just clicks. Things are getting seriously interesting now, and I honestly can’t wait for the next instalment!
A cliffhanger, Martin? And not just an cliffhanger, the MOTHER OF ALL CLIFFHANGERS? Read a short story, a "quick read"! Enchanting little characters. Fun little world. And then kablamo! Twist, turn, back flip....! I certainly hope you are writing fast, because I need to know what's going to happen!
I love this series. They’re short little books but still contain compelling plots and fantastic characters. And what a cliffhanger ending!! Can’t wait for the next one…
4.5 stars. The stakes increase in the sixth instalment of this charming series. Clementine is on the Isle of Skye seeking answers to all that has befallen her. The characters are loveable, the setting is atmospheric and the plot thickens. Throw in some adorable seals, new friends, our beloved kobold Klaus, the indomitable Mr Gout, Mrs Winchester, a brief appearance by Custard the ghost rabbit, a magical mystery, and the result is an unputdownable read. The ending was quite intense which diminished some of the cosiness of the series, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. I cannot wait for the next book.
The plot in the last third of this was all over the place, but I think I understand some of what’s going on, maybe. Possibly. And it’s only going to get weirder from here. 😃
Once you introduce fae mechanics, logic goes out the window. I look forward to seeing how convoluted things get as we explore this plot twist. There seems to be a decently high probability that the next book will end the Green Lily plot arc…? But who knows, the twists keep coming.
This is the 6th in a series. Start with “The Pig in the Derby Hat”.
Clementine did what she thought was best. She left all she loved behind and sought out safe lodgings hundreds of miles away while she continued her quest. Alone. It hurt but it was the right thing to do. Right?
My goodness. This volume went places I never thought it would. Some things I saw coming, others were a complete shock. I foresee myself pacing the floors until book 7 makes it’s appearance!
It doesn't happen often that I finish reading a book this quickly. It usually means I was really, really into the story and just couldn't seem to put it down. I can hardly wait for the next one!
