In 1998 the on-and-off peace in Northern Ireland leads to a massive crime wave. Former IRA paramilitaries, using the skills they learned during the Troubles, turn to organized crime and create an illicit empire based on drugs, prostitution, bank robbery, protection, money laundering, and the illegal sale of arms. Already long established in Belfast, they have recently moved in on the Dublin underworld and are negotiating with Irish-American gangs in the USA and with similar organizations in Europe.

Appalled at the scale of this problem, but hemmed in by the delicate politics of the ongoing peace initiative, the British authorities assign a highly skilled SAS soldier, Sergeant Michael Burton, to 'neutralize' the men in charge of the six major Belfast gangs. Burton, a decorated veteran of the Falkland and Gulf campaigns, has already taken part in many covert operations in Northern Ireland. He is therefore ideal for this highly dangerous and complex task. But he is also a man haunted by his memories of a Belfast tragedy of ten years ago...

UNDERWORLD is another violent, erotically charged SAS thriller by Shaun Clarke, the bestselling author of Red Hand, The Opium Road, and Dragon Light.
