I ran away to Budapest to escape my cheating ex…only to fall straight into the arms of a mafia werewolf king
Yes, my toad of an ex dumped me for his secretary a week before our wedding. So far, so soap opera. What he didn't expect was me to take the monster hunting honeymoon we'd booked, all on my own, glad to be free of him.
And what I didn't expect when I arrived in Budapest...the monstrous owner of the hotel I'm staying in is a werewolf mafia boss, and he wants me as his mate.
Ferenc is ruthless, dangerous and feral, as well as being drop dead gorgeous when poured into one of his bespoke Italian suits. He is absolutely the last thing I need after everything I've been through.
But he isn't going to let up until I give in, because he always gets what he wants.
And what he wants is me.
As he charms me by showing me the sights of his beautiful home city, I find my smashed up heart is starting to heal.
Until the inevitable happens and I find myself in the middle of a war between werewolves and vampires and going home is the only option.
Thing is, trouble is going to follow me. And by trouble, I mean the werewolf mafia boss…and he’s going to stop at nothing to get me back.

Fangs for the Memories is the brand new monster paranormal romance from USA Today Bestselling Author featuring a possessive dominant werewolf mafia boss and a human woman. Budapest Bites in the best possible way!
Grace was a 33 year old doing her best to get petty revenge on her cheating jilting ex by going on their honeymoon alone, and it worked out great for her. She met a sexy werewolf mafia boss and had to work on her justifiable trust issues to open up to him. Ferenc was growly, protective, and possessive, but had to work on his communication skills. They had some good banter and made each other happy in the end.
Spice: 3/5
Triggers: cheating (not by MCs), violence, gore, falling, cave exploring, toxic parent, financial abuse by ex, stalking behaviors, inebriation, emesis, pregnancy, corrupt police, confinement, speciesism, mentions of possible end of days, attempted abduction (not by MC)
Fangs for the Memories is a witty, sexy, and an utterly entertaining start to Hattie Jacks’ new Budapest Bites series. It’s got everything I love in a paranormal romance — humour, spice, and a heroine you can’t help but root for.
Grace is left devastated when her fiancé calls off their wedding a week before the big day, stealing her business, her home — and to make matters worse, she soon discovers he’s been having an affair with his secretary. Rather than wallow, Grace takes their planned honeymoon to Budapest on her own, determined to see all the monster-themed sights he had lined up.
Things quickly spiral out of control when she gets pickpocketed, loses her money, and drowns her sorrows at the hotel bar — where she meets Ferenc. Dark, magnetic, and very much not human, Ferenc turns out to be a werewolf who instantly recognises Grace as his fated mate. From there, Grace is swept into a whirlwind of danger, desire, and destiny, as Budapest reveals itself to be far more monstrous — and far more enchanting — than she ever expected.
This story is a perfect mix of humour, spice, and intrigue. Grace is a relatable and entertaining heroine, while Ferenc brings that perfect growly-but-tender energy readers will love. Along the way, we also meet Grace’s friends back in England and encounter vampires, gargoyles, and other supernatural beings, all set against the richly atmospheric backdrop of Budapest.
This book has honestly made me want to book a flight to Budapest immediately — it’s a city my son visits regularly, and through Hattie Jacks’ writing I can clearly see its attraction.
Fangs for the Memories is witty, sexy, and addictive — it made me laugh, swoon, and immediately want more. A brilliant start to the Budapest Bites series and a fantastic addition to Hattie Jacks’ wider monster universe.

The story of redemption for Grace by the hands of Ferenc is uplifting and sweet. The characters are interesting and the dynamic between humans and monsters is a lot of fun.
There’s action and spice and a real sense of hope throughout this book. Really enjoyed it.
🖤 “You are my mate, kedves. I would move mountains, cross oceans, stop the clocks in order to be by your side.” ~~~ Grace is so wonderful! She’s fun, sweet and so nice. Even more, I loved her sass, enthusiasm, kindness and courage to face all the challenges thrown her way. Grace is an amazing woman and I loved her so, so much!
And then, there’s Ferenc - a billionaire mafia king and… a werewolf! Ferenc is dangerous, strong, bossy and when he sets his eyes on something (or someone), he’ll do everything to have it. Even more, the werewolf king is hot, confident, thoughtful, patient and fiercely protective. Ferenc is one utterly irresistible male and I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Grace and Ferenc! After being dumped a week before her wedding, Grace travels to Budapest and falls straight into the arms of a fearsome mafia king. And the moment Ferenc scents her delectable scent, he knows this human woman is his. I absolutely adored those two together! Their chemistry was off-the-charts from the very beginning and I loved every moment Grace and Ferenc spent together! And even though Grace was hesitant to open her heart for another man, I loved all the ways Ferenc slowly managed to “wolf” his way into it. And when they gave into the undeniable attraction, the passionate moments they shared were scorching hot and I couldn’t get enough of all the naughty and knotty delight. Ferenc and Grace had a few bumps on their journey towards happiness, but they were absolutely perfect for each other and more than deserved to find love together!
In addition, the storyline was phenomenal! The adventures through Budapest, the mafia vibes, the intrigues, the betrayals and the unexpected turns of events kept me glued to the pages till the very end. Also… did my attention also get caught on a vampire king, a gargoyle and a demon? Yes, yes it did. And last, but not least, Grace’s friends are just top tier and I loved every single one of them!
Overall, Fangs for the Memories is a fun, action-packed, suspenseful and naughty story and a spectacular start of the series.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every single page of it! And with that epilogue, I cannot wait to see what happens next!
I discovered Hattie Jacks when I came upon Caged. Mind blown. I loved the way she writes. How strong her female leads are, and how powerful the devotion, and protective nature, her male leads are. Of course I had to read the whole series. Fantastic, and each one better than the last. Then I started seeing news of this new book. I waited anxiously for it to come out. It was so worth the wait. Not really heart broken by the betrayal of her lame, sneaky Ex, who had her plan an expensive, elaborate wedding, then call it off a few days before, and tell her to move out so he can bring his pregnant secretary to move i. Oh yeah, and stole her business, as well. Taking the Monster themed honeymoon package, by herself, as a bit of revenge, turns out to be fates way of giving her everything she ever wanted. Meeting the Alpha Werewolf, Mafia boss, was her destiny. She has a bunch of ride or die besties who ate prominent figures, and one already has her own book next up. I can't wait to read them all. I can't recommend this book , or author hard enough. 10 stars would be better! Trish. A.
FMC Grace, dumped via text a week before her wedding. Deciding to go on the honey moon alone Grace’s world gets turned upside down.
Fenrec (pronounced Ferents) is Budapests Werewolf Mafia’s Alpha boss.
And thats not even the least of the monster world that Grace has discovered.
This story is amazing, full of action, drama, spicy times, longing, and more! I was captivated from the very first chapter and it was everything I’ve been hoping for in a shifter romance for a while.
Not to dark or depraved just the right amount of everything for a perfectly balanced shifter & monster book. Honestly at this point Hattie Jacks can do no wrong, and this book is a fantastical experience for all those who love shifters, but might not like all the darkness that normally comes with it.
Key points in no particular order: - FMC cheated on by now ex-fiance - Werewolves & werewolf packs - Vampires, and 4 main vampire clans - Rogue Vampire wanting to destroy humanity - He falls first - Gargoyles - Fated Mates - Touch her and perish
Grace and Ferenc make for a highly entertaining couple. Their chemisty is off the charts from the start. Ferenc's possessive and protective ""touch her and die"" attitude and his bad boy billionaire attitude is swoonworthy. Their relationship is spicy and genuinely sweet as he helps her heal from her betryal; he shows her with his words and actions what it's like to truly be loved and cherished.
The Budapest setting adds a unique and enchanting backdrop to the story, making you feel like you're discovering this new world right there with Grace. A new world that is filled with werewolf mafia intrigue and vampire conflict that adds a thrilling layer of suspense that kept me turning the pages.
A must-read for anyone who loves paranormal romance with wit, humor, and, a dash of danger. It's a fun, entertaining escape I didn't want to end. The little teaser at the end left me excited for the next book!
This author has brought a fantastic new series full of monsters and humans and fighting for the good of all mankind. This is an absolutely brilliant story set in Budapest and England. The characters in this story came to life off the pages and I found myself in enthralled with the werewolf mafia and Grace who is a human and is left at the altar by her ex fiancé. He had planned to go to Budapest for their honeymoon so Grace left for a monster filled honeymoon without the husband. This is where she meets Ferenc who is the mafia werewolf boss. There’s a lot involved in this story with portraying family members and vampires and a fated mate whose life is in danger. It all comes to ahead and these two fantastic characters bringing more individuals that we can guarantee will tell a story that will keep us looking for more books in this series.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
I am SO excited for this new series, it has absolutely no business being this good! God I love a good feral shifter and a Hungarian werewolf mafia boss?? It most certainly was not on my bingo card for 2025 but I was CLEARLY mistaken cause that was everything I needed.
Ferenc, a mafia kingpin werewolf (quite the mouthful 😏) is so much feral morally grey goodness! He’s all the best bits of the werewolf trope! “Mine” is growled enough to solve me of my mundane life momentarily even 😂
Grace has the friend group every girl dreams of, she’s you’re average not twenty something year old FMC that had me appreciating all over again how well rounded Hattie Jacks builds her characters - she’s sassy, hilarious and holds it down.
First in a new series of standalones! M/F Werewolf x Human Mafia vibes Knotting “Mine” A HEA that’s good for the soul 4/5 spice too! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I am going to breed you, little one,” Ferenc snarls. “Fill your belly full of pups so no one can deny you belong to me.”
As a European,I'm familiar with our lore but Hattie Jacks took her inspiration to create this tale to another level. First I want to note that the references are pretty accurate, we can see a deep care in researsh. The story is superb, sweet, steamy, a touch of humor and some light triggers. Grace was dumped a week before her marriage, jilted by her fiancee and with all that the option was to go to her not- honeymoon to Budapeste. Drinking her pain she mets Ferenc, a werewolf alpha and mafia boss. One look and he knew she was his fated mate, but she's human and the asshole of her ex burned her trust... A rich and imaginative plot with a good world building and loveable characters. And the promisse of much more goodness is coming!
3.5 stars After being dumped by her fiancé a week before the wedding, Grace just wants to get away. So, she goes on her honeymoon to Budapest, by herself. Once there, she gets more bad news and decides to drown her sorrows. But as luck would have it, she finds herself comforted (and claimed) by Ferenc, a mafia werewolf boss. This is the start of a new series loosely linked to The Monsters of the Yeavering, which I really enjoy. The Budapest setting is rich with supernatural intrigue, and I’m excited to see where the series goes next. All manner of monster roams the streets looking for love, and I’m here for it. As for this story, Ferenc and the side characters are what really made it a fun read. Grace, however, wasn’t my favorite. I get that she’s in a tough spot emotionally, but her constant focus on her ex and a few questionable decisions made her hard to root for.
Readers who enjoy messy heroines and insta-claiming are going to love this.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I’m leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to the author and BookFunnel for this eARC
Gleeful Goblin Review: Normally, mafía romance isn't a genre that I'm likely to read...BUT I can't resist books written by this author. Hattie writes wonderful, sympathetic, and realistic characters and fills her worlds in a way that it's exceptionally easy to lose yourself to the story.
Our FMC Grace is delightful. She's spunky, sweet, kind, and gutsy. She goes through the emotional wringer with her ex stepping out on her and leaving a week before their wedding. But instead of crumbling or falling into a bottle or a tub of ice cream she takes the honeymoon solo, determined to make better memories. And she sure does...just not the way she anticipated! What happens when a monster hunting honeymoon gets flipped into being hunted by monsters instead? Vampires, werewolves, and feuds oh my! 5/5 Stars
3.5 star rounded up-honestly my favorite thing about this book was the setting, I've only been to Budapest once and it was beautiful so that was really nice to read about. I think the organization and particularly the ending could've been better executed, like I was expecting either the rogue vampires or Max to be a bigger threat and to have like a big show down and it kind of fell flat. I think especially with adding Mark as like part of this bigger take over plot would've made more sense- and it would've been cool if like Mark had targeted Grace for that purpose. I also wish we'd gotten more information on the monsters themselves, especially with the whole "opening the vault" plot line cause I didn't really get that. P.S. I get they're werewolves, but please never use the phrase "in pup" ever again, we say that animals get pregnant just like humans

Grace is taking her revenge on her ex and taking their planned honeymoon without him. Being dumped by text days before the wedding he insisted on is horrible. So she is taking the trip and having a blast. Plus according to her friends she will be around the monsters too. So some hot🔥🔥🔥 fling is what they tell her she needs. Ferenc is the alpha mob boss of the werewolf pack in Budapest. He is sent to a hotel by his mother to meet his mate nor that he wants the female she sent him to meet. Instead he gets one smell of Grace and the rest is history lol. He is relentless in his pursuit to win his mate. He understands her heart is fragile because of her ex but he is willing to wait her out. Add in some rogue vampires plus her ex and you face a great read.
I’m totally obsessed with Hattie’s books. I feel like each one gets better and better. Her MMCs are so hot and swoon worthy! I seriously can’t get enough.
Ferenc and Grace are made for each other. Their chemistry did not lack and I kept coming back for more. I love how protective and possessive Ferenc is of Grace. With that, he also treats her with respect and like a queen! Ughhh only book boyfriends can get away with the things they say! Ferenc has a dirty mouth and is not afraid to use it either. 😂
I need more from this series. I can’t wait to read more! I need to see each friend get their own monster mate! PLEASE!!!! I HUMBLY BEG YOU HATTIE!❤️
I didn't make it past the 1st chapter. Her finance cheated on her and moved his affair partner in their home. She talking to her friend on the phone, her friend is trying to talk her out of going on the honeymoon alone when she find out that her ex fiance just stole her business. She told her friend she signed a prenup that gave her fiances access to her business because her fiances want to protect his business.
I just couldn't. Prenups are not valid if you don't get married. So, maybe later in the book we will find out that what she signed wasn't a prenup but just a contract giving him her business. In that case the MFC deserves to lose her business, I don't want my my character to be that stupid. it's even .ire infuriating that her friend she is talking to in chapter 1 is a lawyer.

The mafia genre has never been something that drew me to a book but apparently a werewolf mafia story is totally my jam!😊 This is a fast moving adventure that had me engaged from start to finish. There is intrigue, humour, and lots of hot werewolf spice. And the supporting cast of characters are excellent. Frenec and Grace are pretty much made for each other even though Frenec has to do some work to convince Grace of this. When Grace finally agrees it is all go and no whoa. Of course there are a few very big bumps in their path to happiness but it all gets sorted in the end. Admittedly, I was a bit disappointed with the ending, but I assume from the bonus epilogue that the following books will give glimpses of Grace and Frenec’s family.
OMG This is the most brilliant addictive story that I have read. Hattie, you are without a doubt on a role. Your books just keep getting better and better.
The amazing backdrop to this hypnotic tale is astounding. The characters are ultimately enticing and sinful. The banter between these diverse monsters is absolutely mind blowing.
This love story has just about everything. There's heat, spice, action, and most definitely adventure. Last but not least a broken heart. Which it's nice to see no matter what the species, groveling. I cannot sing enough praises about my infatuation with this new series. Hattie, I'm ready for our next adventure 💜🔥🔥
If you want a story to brighten up your day. This is the one. I loved the humor, excellent worldbuilding, action throughout. and of course an endearing HEA for Grace and Ferenc. Steam to the eventual romance. I know Hattie had fun writing this story just as much as I had reading it. Grace was fun to read about. Loved the twists especially with the ex fiancé. That one took me by surprise. Ferenc was very persistent. and of course protective. Loved the mom nd her BBF's help and advice. Excellent storyline. I will definitely be reading this again. I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This was a wonderful series opener and a highly entertaining read. Grace is amazing! She gets dumped by her fiancé a week before the wedding, via text, no less, and she decides to do the honeymoon without him. So brave. She's also sassy ;) When Fenrec, a werewolf mafia boss scents her, he knows she's his mate. From here, the story really takes off so expect to be glued to your reader as you follow these two to their hot and knotty HEA ;P Filled with drama, adventure, action, suspense, humour, twists, fab world building and an engaging plot, I couldn't put it down. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book :D
This book made me wish I could just plan a holiday to go and visit Budapest. I really enjoyed spending time with Grace and Ferenc. This story follows a human fmc and a werewolf mmc, which I happen to love reading about. They were so much fun and the things that kept happening to Grace kept me really entertained. I loved the mafia inclusion as well, because that is another one of my favorite romance subgenres to read about. All in all this was a fun, entertaining romance to read and you should give it a try especially if you like European settings, mafia or paranormal romances.
Let's start off by saying I'm excited for the underlying story in this series. There are so many directions it can go and I'm here for it!
Now Ferenc is everything you expect out of a mafia werewolf and we are here for it. He finds his mate in Grace and shows up for her. He does make a bit of a meathead move but I get it. There were quite a few twists that kept everything moving. And there was definitely spice. Ferenc has a bit of a kink 😏
And Hattie giving a teaser of what's to come next!? Like now all I have is more questions. Plus wanting the next book 😆
✨ ARC Review ✨ Fangs for the Memories by Hattie Jacks 🐺 ⭐ 5/5 stars 🌶️ 2.5/5 spice
✨When Grace’s fiancé leaves her just a week before their wedding, she decides to take their honeymoon trip to Budapest alone… and fate steps in with Ferenc. 😍 ✨
✨This book is the perfect mix of spice, possessiveness, humor, and that delicious touch-her-and-die energy.✨
✨I laughed, swooned, and devoured every page. The teaser for book two? Let’s just say I need it right now.✨
✨This was my first read by Hattie Jacks and it absolutely won’t be my last! 💜✨
✨A huge thank you to Hattie Jacks for this ARC — I adored every second of it. 🐺✨
When Grace is dumped a week before her wedding she decides to take the honeymoon trip on her own. Budapest is a lot more than she bargained for. There are Vampires, Gargoyles and Werewolves. In fact, She meets and fascinates a werewolf who also happens to be the pack alpha and stinking rich. He’s handsome and buff and won’t take no for an answer. Their whirlwind romance it hot and filthy and oh so romantic. But there’s trouble brewing in Budapest but you’ll have to read the book to find out what it is.
I absolutely loved everything about this Werewolf Romantasy! Hattie Jacks is a stupendous writer and storyteller. This book fires on all cylinders, definitely Check this awesome quick read if you enjoy:
-werewolf/mafia/billionaire romances with suspense and a bit of action -strong, loyal, protective alpha MMC, touch her and unalive -Cinnamon roll for our FMC -jilted FMC -found family, girl bff crew -Open door romance, WIDE Open, breeding kink -HEA
I highly recommend this Romantasy. Sweet, spicy, wonderfully executed, of
I love Hattie Jack's books, especially the newest paranormal monster romance, Fangs for the Memories. Grace is heading to Hungary after her fiance jilts her. She intends to enjoy the monster events that her ex wanted to experience without the louse. She winds up meeting a mafia boss, an alpha werewolf, and the two have a remarkably sexy time. Cue the vampires, rogue werewolves, and other monsters wreaking havoc. You get romance, adventure, and intrigue.
I love the concept of this book and it had a lot of fun elements! Who wouldn’t want to go to Budapest and meet a hot werewolf when rebounding from an asshole ex? I found the story a bit to fast moving, and felt that the plot of monsters reveling themselves to humans to work against a common threat needed a bit more backstory and depth, and the love story was a bit too quickly developed for me, hence the 2 star rating. Still a fun read with a great plot concept!
This story allowed me to be sucked into the world of mythical being living among us. I really liked the whole background situation Grace was in and how she chose not to give up. Who would suspect that she would meet someone like Ferenc! With Graces’ helpful girlfriends and Ferencs’ business alliances, there is so much more to come in the next story. Loved it!
I received an ARC and voluntarily am sharing my honest review.
This was yet another amazing read. Hattie Jacks has quickly become one of my favorite authors. This one was a little different as it was set more modern times in the world we know where as some of their other works are more in a fantasy world, but it was still amazing.
I mean, who wouldn't want a billionaire werewolf, mafia leader as their mate?
