New Adult Contemporary Romance
Book 1 All About You

I start hating Oliver just after his older brother Christian’s death. I drag him down a road of humiliation and pain to try to cope with what his brother did to me.

A few months after Christian’s passing, Oliver leaves town, and for the next two years, he is absent from my life. The demons claw their way back in, and I must learn to live with the secret that has destroyed me.

Now I’m starting a new life, away from Gargle and away from my past, but everything crashes when I see Oliver the first day at university. It’s clear that many things have changed since we’ve been apart. Now he is captain of the rugby team and the most popular bloke on campus.

Then he makes a bet and gives me an ultimatum: I leave Braxton forever and start somewhere else, or I stay and play his game… because he’s never forgotten that it was me who ruined his life two years ago.

Book 2 All About Me

I’m the monster, a bloody human incapable of emotion

I soon realise that my revenge didn’t make me feel any fucking better about myself, instead it pissed me off to realise that I’m in love with her.

Two days later the letter addressed to me arrives in the post and the ground moves beneath my feet, because the whole truth about India is out in the open and the pain punches me so hard that I can’t breathe, darkness crawls through me, sparking all the insecurities and fears about my dead brother back to ugly reality.

Then off I go with my apology, trying to fix this fucked up situation but she doesn’t want to listen. Every time I do something the guilt is burning my gut, pushing her further and further away from me.

She even goes an extra mile making me feel like a prick and she gets involved with someone else just to get back at me. She pretends that the event in the restaurant didn’t mean anything to her, like she is immune to my actions.

India’s pain is raw, deep and whenever I lay my eyes on her I remember the cruel things I’ve done.

The next couple of months I focus on getting her back. This is the only thing that matters to me now. I must redeem myself; forget about anger, other birds and parties.

India is the only person that I want, I love her and only her but the problem is that she hates my guts, so I’m the last person that she wants.

I must prove to India that I’m worthy of her love.

Nope

I hate giving bad reviews but I really could force myself past chapter 4. It's meant to be set here in the UK but it comes across very American.

Oliver went from High School straight to University, that doesn't happen here.
E.R is A&E.
We wear school uniforms here not the latest fashion.
We don't have apartments at uni, we live in "halls" essentially dorm rooms.

It all sounds like small niggles but when its all put together it is very Americanized. I was really looking forward to reading this, the blurb sounds great but I really couldn't force myself through it.

I will say this had all the elements I love in a book. But I couldn't get into it. I finished both books but I really wasn't invested in either characters. The first was awful. I want to say the turn off wS too much cruelty. A whole book of bad behavior on both parts was overkill. But with the ending/cliffy I dream of I had to see what happened in the next book. I was completely in for about half the book then it was just felt like filler. I loved that he tried to make things right but something's just felt flat and maybe it's because it went on for so long.
These are two characters that I should have liked but by the end of the book I could careless if they were together. Maybe it's because for me these two have both done too much damage to one another that it's really hopeless. In most cases one is little innocent and that is not the case. They both have had terrible things done to them by others and by each other. They both will need lots of therapy.

The side characters. I loved Jacob!!! Best character in the book and Evans was a great guy too. He deserved better. But Dora was the worst friend in book one. How many times did she leave her alone to hookup? But by book two she was a great bestie. But once she knew what happened to India she was there for her. The parents are the worst. No surprise but again once they knew the details they got better. I just can't believe India never told her mom. I got the impression they were close?! This should of just been one longer book and with a little editing it could of been 3-4 stars but I just think it was too much bad then too much trying to get back. It may have helped both books had their been both povs. That would of helped tremendously.

DNF at 89%. I like second chance books. I LOVE second chance books. And I like the premise for this series. But I just couldn't read anymore because these two people are just horrible. Oliver is marginally better - he seems to have real relationships but India - well I don't even like her. She doesn't even appear to like her own best friend. She has no personality. Is completely miserable. There isn't one funny line in this book. Not one. And with these sorts of themes, boy do you need some smiley times. On another note, the writing is odd. There aren't enough compound verbs, which make reading the narrative very hard. And it doesn't always read quite right - the phraseology is wrong - people don't talk like this - all stilted and formal. ANd what the hell is a 'formal boyfriend'? And teenagers don't use the word 'pronto' like... ever. Oh and there's an odd combo of American and British culture. Brits don't call Uni 'school'. We call 'school' school. We don't have cheerleading squads at school in high school therefore there is no 'queen bee head cheerleader'. Nor do you get Rugby University scholarships. Because no one watches University sports. And you definitely don't fill a stadium to watch some generic English Town University team. Hell, you don't even fill stadiums for most of the professional games. So yeh this was all odd. And I wanted to read to the end. THere were some nice moments. But then I found myself flipping through the pages and just thought 'fuck it'. ANd gave up. I know this has been well rated so maybe it does better with a non-English audience. But hey, you might love it. That's just me. No judgements and all that.

Wow!

This author definitely knows how to keep you reeled into her book. She kept the twist and turns interesting and you wanted to keep reading to figure out how they played out. This was definitely well written and I look forward to reading more of her books. Definitely keep it up!

I didn't think I'd enjoy this one as much as I did but I read both books in 2 days.
Childhood friends to enemies/bullies to lovers with a whole lot of teen drama and angst mixed in there.
I didn't love the extra dose of angst near the end but glad to get the happily ever after.

at first it just all good to read but too boring for 700+ pages and keep talking about their past. The end also predictable. But if u are a fan of ex-romance fiction then u gotta like this.

I picked up these books because I love Penelope Douglas' Fall Away series, which focuses on bullying and love, so I've been looking for something comparable. I liked these books, BUT I feel like they really could have been put together into one book. There was a lot of filler and I just don't feel like this is the type of story that can have two books without being redundant.

I liked India. I felt like she was genuinely regretful for what she had done to Oliver in the past. I was continually frustrated at her though. She could have solved a lot of problems had she just told Oliver the truth from the beginning or even when she first saw him again. Or at least some version of the truth. Oliver was a jerk, which of course he was supposed to be. I was really disappointed in him at the end of the first book and to be honest, I was very surprised. He seemed like he had moved on from everything that had happened between the two of them. The mere mention of his brother's name shouldn't have made him turn that quickly. It made me feel like he was VERY immature and I am happy that India held onto her hatred for him through most the 2nd book.

Dora was a nut job in the first book. However, I liked her. India basically warned "us" about her selfishness, and I felt like her character was written very well for that role. I LOVED her loyalty to India. Jacob was awesome. He's probably my favorite character throughout both books. He humbled Dora and I liked that he didn't always take Oliver's side just because that was his friend. I also liked watching the progression of his relationships with Oliver and India. In the beginning, he was very loyal to Oliver but as he grew to know and like India, he had no problems siding with her when it was warranted. It was very realistic. I also liked Russell despite knowing that India was never meant for him. I thought he was a sweet and caring guy who genuinely liked India. I just wish India wouldn't have tried to move on from Oliver with him.

I was over the redundancy throughout the end of the 1st book and into the 2nd book. It was very back and forth with love then betrayal, then love, then "fake" betrayal. I'm giving this book 3 stars because the storyline itself is really good. If these books had been edited into one book instead of 2, it would have been a 4 star for me. I know there's a 3rd book coming out, but if it's about Oliver and India I probably won't read it. For me, their story is done and there isn't really anything else I want to read about them.

What an emotional series!

The characters are so well defined and their past is is described in such detail, you feel their pain and torment. I felt a personal connection with a few characters, making the emotions even more real for me. This series is about dealing with grief, deep emotional scars and overcoming a horrifying past. Trust is hard to come by, but rebuilding your life takes true inner strength. This is an absolute must-read series! As usual, Joanna doesn't disappoint! There's romance, heartbreak, mending relationships that seemed to be doomed from the start and unwavering friendships. I'm excited to read books three and four! 5+ stars!

India is starting college and getting away from her nightmare past. Trying to start a new she runs into Oliver her ex Christian's brother. While there Oliver wants her gone because after his, brothers death she bullied him. Oliver loved India since he first saw her but his brother got to her knowing how Oliver felt. Neither knows what happened the night Christian died. Oliver thinks India slept with Christian and lied to Oliver that she wanted to break things off with Christian and love Oliver. India thinks Oliver never showed up to be there for her to break things off with Christian. Need to read. Couldn't put down till I was done.

Oliver and India... This book was crazy!! The pranks he plays on her are bullying!! I can't believe she forgives him, the whole thing was insane! Then Dora her friend was crazy too, always not listening to her. I rated it two stars because I understood it, just didn't like it.

I do not like first person narrative. This book did it well but read like an 18yo girl wrote it, still the story was interesting enough that I wanted to see how it ended.
