The Selection’s prince-must-choose-a-bride meets Bridgerton’s Regency sparkle with the enchanted letter exchange of Divine Rivals—all wrapped up in the whimsy of cozy fantasy.
When shy Aurelise Rowanwood finds herself among the chosen few—young fae ladies from whom the charming (and far too flirtatious) Prince Ryden must select his bride this Bloom Season—she resolves to remain in the background, drawing as little attention as possible until she can quietly depart the palace. After all, she’s never liked the prince and she has far more practical plans of finding a safe, steady companion and retreating to a quiet life with her beloved music.
But when Ryden discovers the truth—that Lady Aurelise is the very same captivating young woman he’s been secretly corresponding with through enchanted letters for the past year—he’s determined to breach her carefully built walls and win her heart in both ink and reality. His weapon of choice? A scandalously irresistible The Dare List.
Caught between the comfort of her quiet dreams and the intensity of feelings she has spent her life avoiding, Aurelise is terrified of surrendering her heart—yet finds herself falling for both the mysterious writer of her letters and the unsuitable, infuriatingly flirtatious prince.
For fans of Bridgerton’s dazzling debut Season, intensely romantic slow-burn without spice, and a sprinkling of magical enchantment, this cozy romantasy will be your next obsession.
Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, a young science graduate named Rachel found that the real world wasn't a place she wanted to inhabit all the time. So she decided to escape into the magical realms that had occupied her mind since childhood.
Armed with a vivid imagination, Rachel spends her days conjuring up fantastical worlds filled with adventure, romance, and plot twists, where readers can escape the real world along with her.
Rachel lives in Cape Town, South Africa, with her husband, two little wildlings, and three fur-babies.
2026: I am so sad right now! The next book doesn’t come out til July and I NEED it now!!!!! This series makes me so happy and gets better every time I read it.
2025 This is one of my all time favorite series. I love how the classic stories are turned into fae and all the cool stuff. I only remember d*mn once or twice but I don’t think anything other than that I loved the main characters! They were so sweet and I loved how they challenged each other and made each other better. This will always be a favorite and I can’t wait till the next one!
Who needs Bridgerton when you have Bloomhaven? I cannot get enough of these enchanting Regency fae romances!
While NOTHING can top book 2, this was very pleasant to read! I really enjoyed the FMC's character growth and how she had to learn to overcome her shyness. As an introvert, I definitely connected with her need to steal away and relax during social situations. Aurelise is so sweet and absolutely deserves someone who would never let her drown. I also thought it was so original to show how she was scared of falling in love because she felt like she would drown in the feelings; I think a lot of people would connect to this, and it needs to be mentioned more in literature.
Ryden was pretty fun, and I enjoyed how he encouraged Aurelise yet was still so mindful of her limits. The Crown Court and all its festivals were enchanting, as were Aurelise's palace companions, Thimble and Spark.
I loved reading the letters between Aurelise and Ryden, and I am continually impressed by how Rachel Morgan can spin such unique tales. Every book in this series has been so fresh, with a plot dissimilar to any I have read before.
My only critique was that this story was a LITTLE more lustful than some of the previous ones, and that detracted slightly from the overall story, but that's just my personal preference.
I CANNOT wait for books 4 and 5! My predictions for the couples are Rosavyn and Hadrian, then Kazrian and Lucie (you'll understand once you read the first 3).
Language: 1-2 darns LGBTQ: None! Romance: One kiss, mention of a wedding night, swimming together in a lake, noticing each other in certain clothes, wanting to kiss. (Just some little moments that were a little more lustful than they needed to be, but it really wasn't too bad.) Violence: Mentions of a tragic accident. Other: The two main characters smoke driftshade leaf at one point, which could be compared to some of the intoxicants that people smoke nowadays. However, no harm comes of it, and the FMC promises not to ever do it again.
I’m completely blown away by this book. After book two, I honestly thought there was no way Rachel could top it. She didn’t just top it, she blew it out of the water.
Aurelise’s growth and self discovery was so powerful. The banter was *chef’s kiss*. I don’t think I’ve ever giggled this much while reading. The side characters added so much life and fun to the story. And Ryden… Perfection! The “please” absolutely wrecked me 😭
I picked this up around 6pm, thinking I’d just read a cosy chapter or two before bed. I did. Not. Put. It. Down. I read straight through until 1:30am 🤣
I’ve read 126 books this year, and this is EASILY in my top 10!
I have been anxiously (and maybe a little dramatically) awaiting the release of this book! I had an actual countdown in my head and might’ve squealed—okay, definitely squealed—when I could finally read it. I absolutely adored the first two, and this one did not disappoint. It was precious. It was perfect. I’m obsessed. 💕
The romance between these two? Chef’s kiss. SO well crafted! Their personalities, priorities, and even their little quirks just clicked like magic. The witty banter had me grinning like a fool.
Now, let’s talk about these absolutely wonderful characters, because my heart can’t keep quiet any longer.
Aurelise, Lise, L…
My introverted queen (she’s not actually a queen, just a lady). This girl feels BIG. She’s always tried so hard to hold herself together, but her emotions just don’t fit inside neat boxes. She gets nervous around people, hates forced conversations, and would 100% rather be alone with her music. But when she starts corresponding with a mysterious stranger, something shifts. As she gets to know him, the pressure she always feels? Gone. For the first time, she can just be.
When she’s forced by society to do something that she really doesn’t want to do, she can’t say no. She terrified of doing the wrong thing and anxious everyday.
And then—oh, my girl is dared to be bold! (Our swoony hero definitely has something to do with that 😏). Watching her step out of her comfort zone and realize she’s so much more than she thought she was…I was cheering the whole way through! She stays her introverted, soft-hearted self, but she starts speaking up, believing in herself, and it’s just—ugh—so beautiful. I was literally screaming, “Go, Lise!”
Prince Ryden, Ryden, R…
Here’s our sweet, delightfully incorrigible hero. He’s spent most of his life feeling lonely, hidden behind a crown and a mask of royalty. To live up to “royal expectations,” he’s worn a façade: flirtatious, carefree, relaxed—but deep down? It’s easier for him to fake being someone else than to be himself. No one truly knows the real him—not even his friends.
Strangely, the first person to really know him is a woman who doesn’t even know his name. When his mother insists he must get married (yes, for very serious reasons. You’ll discover them when you pick up the book), Ryden is faced with the idea of marrying someone who isn’t the woman he’s been writing to for a year (and starting to pine for!!!)
And this, my friends, is just the beginning.
Buckle up. The ride is totally wild…and absolutely worth every moment. Once Ryden learns the identity of his letter-sweetheart…he doesn’t hit the brakes. Nope. He’s in it to win it. And I was SO here for it. He knows that winning Lise’s heart isn’t just about his love, it’s about showing her just how capable she truly is. He sets up these little moments (and big ones!) so she can shine.
He’s the perfect hero for our heroine. They’re a match made in adorable-romance heaven. I absolutely, 100% loved them together. 10/10! Would recommend with all my heart.
I was NOT given a free copy for my review- if the author ever wants to let me see her work early- I’d be here for it! 👀 But I’m just so in love with this entire series!
Absolute perfection in a book 😍💕 the magical companions had me giggling out loud so many times during this book! Honestly, Spark was my favourite - a moody, adorable little dragon who loves his dessert 😂 The wit, humour, bravery, love, boldness and utter "softness" of this book was so amazing. The story was beautiful, had me laughing almost on every page and stirred so many emotions in me. It was beautiful! Highly recommend you read this whole series so far - Rachel outdid herself with this one! 🥰
Funny and delightful as this story (and this series) was, I find myself unable to endorse stories that have enough heat to light a physical copy of the book on fire, have riggish male leads who flirt via innuendos, and encourage casual smoking of the fantasy version of weed.
Therefore, two stars, a rating I feel bad for giving because this book was hilarious and did brighten my day.
The best of the series thus far. I was totally sold on their relationship before I even got to the first chapter. The letters were front loaded in the beginning, but were also sprinkled throughout in a very well paced way. Both MCs were extremely likable and their banter was cute and funny.
toothache-ingly sweet, what a cute read! I feel like the first two books had a very similar structure and this one was a little different! very lighthearted hearted, very low stakes, very comfy!
It’s my own fault I finished this so quickly. I always forget how a good book can suck my attention so completely. Oh how I love this series with every fiber of my being. AND THE NEXT ONES DON’T COME OUT UNTIL JULY AND NOVEMBER AGH *deep breath* It’s okay. I can—I WILL— buy the physical copies of these books and re-read my favorite scenes until I can’t any longer! This particular book was so tender and sweet. I just fell in love. I never intended to fall for a man with blue hair, but here we are. Definitely not originally on my 2026 bingo card, but I am sure glad it happened XD A tough, charming, sarcastic man with a soft spot underneath! AH! Melting worthy. I loved watching how Ryden gently pushed Aurelise out of her comfort zone. She was a completely changed person by the end of the book because of his charming sweetness. Small-ish spoiler (nothing that exposes the entire story, I promise), but the scene I was a bit iffy about concerned the smoking of the driftshade leaf. Yeah, I’m assuming that’s a fantasy reference to dr*gs, but I’m not entirely certain. I won’t lie though, the humor that came with that scene was entertaining against my better judgment 😂 And I still loved the story despite that. I mean obviously. I finished it late into the night XD As I’ve read these books, I feel absolutely teleported through each story into another land and it’s just so enchanting (pun intended). I CANNOT wait for Lucie’s and Kazarin’s story in July and Rosavyn’s and Lord Hadrian’s in November (though the synopsis has yet to come out for the latter, but the hints are suggesting they’ll be a couple EHEHEE)!
How are these books getting better when they started on such a high note? I don’t understand. But let me tell you: I’ve just finished Love & Letter Charms, and sat smiling to myself for the last 10 minutes. In the middle of the night. While my family snores around me.
Oh Aurelise, how deeply you resonate with the 18 year old living inside me. How I wish I had such a beautiful and patient man as Ryden to help coax me out of my shell and show me the world was not nearly as terrifying as it seemed. And a sarcastic teacup dragon at my side would have definitely helped too! This story is equal parts cutely hilarious, wonderfully endearing, and deliciously mischievous and I loved every single second. It’s a light fluffy confection of a book and absolutely the highlight of the series so far (although fair warning I’ve said that in 3 out of 3 reviews now).
Thank you to Rachel Morgan for the opportunity to read and review Love & Letter Charms prior to its release.
PS: I’m putting in my petition for Rosavyn & Hadrian’s HEA next, but also fully aware I might be totally off the mark here.
I know that 4.6 is a silly rating but OMG. I'm almost embarrassed by how I, a 31 year old, happily married, womangiggled, squealed, and kicked my feet while reading this book. I thought the first book was amazing, but somehow this one was even better?
Rachel Morgan, you don't know me, but you somehow have managed to write the perfect series for me with all of my favorite things. Bless you, you amazing author you.
Combine the movie You've Got Mail with The Selection book series and you've got an idea of what this book is about.
THE BANTER-INSPIRING THE TENSION-UNBEARABLY LOVELY THE HUMOR-LIVELY THE ROMANCE-ACHINGLY SWEET
Ryden and Aurelise together are genuinely perfect. I love how their personalities balance each other out so well.
Best book in the series so far! I'm dying to continue.
The story was really well done - going into it, I was worried about the pairing of Aurelise and Ryden based on the previous books. However, the author did a good job at re-framing the characters in a way that felt natural. This book also did the best job at blending humor into the story, whereas the first two books seemed to focus more on drama/conflict. I appreciated the small insights into the previous book’s couples and what I assume are hints at future books.
Omgomgomgomg I loved this book. It’s so freaking cute and my fav of the series. Aurelise’s personality and growth along with Ryden’s goofy and witty remarks…beautiful. I related to her a lot so also another reason I loved it. I’m on such a book withdrawal now. I need the next one to come out asap.
6 ⭐️ This was hands down my favorite book in the entire series. The yearning and devotion were everything, and I am such a sucker for a MMC who falls first and falls hard. The premise was so tender and heartfelt, and reading it gave me that same hopeful feeling I had when I first read Divine Rivals. And honestly, I saw so much of my younger self in Aurelise and her internal struggles… watching her find someone who doesn’t view her anxiety as a burden, but simply as part of who she is, was beautiful
I adore this series. It’s so fun and clever and I tore through the first two and almost recommended them to my 12yo to read…but then this one has recreational drug use that somehow teaches the main character to be brave? I…I can’t get behind that message and it’s not one I want to casually hand my kid. When she’s older (like an adult who’s out making her own choices), sure. But as an impressionable kid? Nope nope nope.
This was so cute! I LOVED Ryden omg he was so sweet and patient. AND THE LETTERS!! Him calling Aurelise his darling before they were even together was so cute. A MAN WHO YEARNS 🙌🏾. We love to see it.
I think I may have a new favorite series, at least the best I've read in a LONG time. I enjoyed how fleshed out R and L's relationship is, and I think that sets this one slightly ahead of the first book. I was quite literally kicking my feet at their banter. Sigh.
4.5⭐️ so so exactly what I needed to read today! This book was so precious and I found myself kicking my feet. Perhaps not the most original story ever, but it delivered on its promise:) Divine Rivals meets The Selection, and I ATE IT UP.
My favorite in the series. I adored the letters back and forth.
Would have been a 4 star read but I took a star off (almost took off 2 stars because it bothered me so much) for one of the dares being smoking a drug leaf. It was all shone in a “positive light”, about how much better Lise felt after smoking and how good it made her feel. I hated that message that sent that drugs are an upper, not a downer. There was no down side shown of Lise smoking, and it was implied that smoking made her not a dull person….smh so for sure would not recommend for teenagers.
Other than that part though the rest stays clean with just a few very mild innuendos, and the romance was very swoony. I am a sucker for letters being exchanged, and that was done so well in Love and Letter Charms. The characters are very likable, and I am starting to enjoy the world building more.
Content: no spice, no swearing, no violence, brief drug use, mild innuendos
Oh was I excited to get back into this world! This book was delightful, charming, darling, cosy and all round sumptuous! This is whimsical regency with all the traipsing of magic. I adored the first 2 books in the series, all feature different MC'S from the same family. Every one a distinct personality. In a world where once their magic has manifested, there's a coming out of sorts, a ball to show their magic, a ball to find a life partner. But Aurelise would rather not take part in any of social dictates. She'd rather be as inconspicuous as possible, she's reserved and not a social butterfly in the slightest. She's anxious, socially awkward and loathes being in the spotlight. Yet she must, the season is about to start. And this season is different, it'll be held in the Dreamscape, beautifully brought "back to life" by Mariselle and Evryn.
This was the most adorable prologue I've read! Just after her 18th birthday, Aurelise's magic manifests but with it, a cacophony of unwanted "noise", her emotions triggering an onslaught for all to hear. Her refuge, her music, is now threatening to overwhelm her. So, feeling decidedly silly, she takes a step to try alleviate her distress by writing and placing a letter in an enchanted letter box her brother had purchased for her the previous year. To her utter amazement, she receives a response, from a real person no less, not an imaginary enchantment. So starts a series of communication, real, unfettered, honest. With each letter, the sides of my mouth involuntary tugged upwards and, before I knew it, I had a grin on my face from their correspondence. Shy, quiet, unassuming Aurelise can be herself while penning these letters. She's still sceptical as to the validity of "the recipient" but she's able to express herself, almost frivolously.
Ryden, the Prince, hides who he really is behind a strong facade. A suave, flirty facade. His magic is powerful, difficult to control and he's terrified of it's potency. But, he's quite the catch for the debutants and now, much to his distress, his mother insists he finds a bride. This season. His only pleasure are the letters and when they "dry up" my stomach twisted at his anguish! He is fantabulous! He is someone I feel to my core, as is Lise. I just wanted to wrap them in my arms and hug them! Perceptions, misconceptions, fear and acceptance are overcome, in the most glorious of ways. Ways that had me cheering, grinning and feeling extraordinarily sated!
Ms Morgan crafts the most gorgeous characters. They are real. They are flawed. They are just cool, like immensely comfortable friends. She knows how to spin a true friendship, such as Evryn and Ryden, supportive, genuine. I loved all these characters, they are as diverse as they are magical. Rossevyn is still a favourite of mine, I love her wit and snark. She definitely is not a conformist and that's what they all should be, playing it "safe" in society's eyes. The High Lady, imposing, intimidating, is another hiding her true self. Oh lordie, I could wax lyrical about each and every character, who are impossible to capture succinctly but they are amaaaazing! This author is amazing in her storytelling, the fullness of every word, every sentence, every dynamic has a clear purpose, that goes beyond mere exceptional storytelling.
The family dynamics are the sweetest, they are so protective of one another, caring for each other. The story focuses primarily on Aurelise and Ryden, while giving us more depth to the characters I came to love in the previous 2 books. Kazrian, Aurelise's twin, props her up time and time again. In fact, her entire family rallies round her, but her terror is palpable, her fear resonates from the pages. She's stuck, stuck on being chosen as one of the Crown Court, stuck in Solstice Hall, stuck in not knowing how to respond to R's letters, stuck in her overwhelming emotions, just stuck. I was as relieved as Lise with the kindness and friendship Willow extrended. It wasn't all doom and gloom for Lise though, she had the companionship of 2 very cute magical beings, Spark and Thimble. Throughout this read, the humour eased much of MY anxiety of the "will they, won't they, can they".
The author explored anxiety which borders on panic attack, very sensitivity. Realistically. Acknowledging it. Owning the fact that it does exist. With no judgement, only heart-warming prose. This book wrapped me tightly in it's grasp, like vines lovingly encasing me. When the bindings felt a bit tight, they relaxed, when the bindings were too slack, they hugged me. This book was so flipping hard to put down, in fact, I put my phone on silent so I wouldn't be distracted, I was enthralled, I was in blissful heaven reading this darling book. Though I thoroughly loved the previous 2 books, THIS one is my absolute favourite! Every once in a while I read a book that I literally want to hug, the warm and fuzzies that start in my toes, soon encompasses me entirely. Oh, and on a final note, I doubt I'll ever be able to look at a parsnip without giggling! I can't get enough of this series, I'll be waiting anxiously for the next one!
Excuse me??? This book was adorable 🥰💕 I continue to be more and more impressed with Rachel Morgan’s writing and her ability to craft engaging, heartfelt stories that somehow get better with every installment in this series. Truly obsessed!
One of my absolute favourite things about this book was the FMC. She was so relatable to me personally — shy, gentle, composed, and quietly kind — and I know many fellow introverts will see themselves in her too. It’s incredibly refreshing to read a fantasy with a shy FMC, especially one whose strength doesn’t come from boldness or loud confidence. Watching her slowly grow, step outside her comfort zone, and evolve into a new version of herself by the end of the story was genuinely beautiful 🫶 Her character arc felt thoughtful, realistic, and deeply rewarding.
And then there’s the MMC. THIS MAN. 🤭 I swear he has completely rewritten the definition of yearning. The way he longs for the FMC had me giggling nonstop. Every interaction between them was filled with softness and emotional tension in the best way possible. I honestly think he might be my favourite MMC in the entire series so far.
The setting was another highlight. I loved being immersed once again in this whimsical world, especially with the high fae society gatherings — they added such charm, elegance, and intrigue to the story. It felt like coming home, but with a fresh perspective through new characters we’d only glimpsed in previous books. Being back in this world was an absolute joy.
Personally, this felt like a 5-star read because of how much I enjoyed it from start to finish. The only reason my rating dipped slightly was due to some of the dares, which at times felt a little too direct or uncomfortable for the FMC given her personality. That said, this didn’t take away from how much I loved the story overall.
Love and Letter Charms is sweet, cozy, and full of heart. If you love shy heroines, yearning MMCs, whimsical fantasy settings, and gentle character growth, you absolutely need to read this one 🥰
⭐ 4.5/5 stars — charming, comforting, and impossible not to love 💌
I finished reading Love and Letter Charms at 3 AM this morning 🤣. I was obsessed. I've been reading non stop since this released on Friday. I was reading while folding laundry, cause I literally couldn't put it down. Amazing! My favorite of all time!!! This is officially my favorite book of the entire Charmed Leaf Legacy series and my new favorite of all time 😍 I loved Aurelise as a character I relate to her so much, shyness, her social anxiety, talking about the weather, haha, doing better in writing than communicating with people in person. I loved Ryden he was so charming and kind, caring and hilarious. I love how he pushed Aurelise to step out of her comfort zone and be bolder and do things she wouldn't do on her own. I loved seeing more of the Rowanwood family especially Evryn and Mariselle and them interacting as a married couple, being as competitive as ever, and their banter. Mariselle and Rosavyn together were just pure gold they are hysterical. I loved seeing all 4 sisters interact, it was very sweet. I loved getting to know Kazrian a bit better with him being Aurelise's twin and all, he is the sweetest most attentive twin brother ever. Evryn, being an overprotective big brother and threatening Ryden on multiple occasions, was awesome I loved it, it was endearing and funny at the same time. I loved Aurelise's character development. Her standing up to her grandmother and the high lady was Awesome. I loved the enchanted letter boxes it was so unique and interesting. I loved Aurelise and Ryden's interactions the nicknames, the jokes, the dare list it was highly entertaining. The tiny magical companions were a whole vibe, they were so adorable and funny. I don't think I've ever laughed or squealed this much in a book ever! This book was just Amazing and I can't wait for the next one. ❤️
This book is absolutely perfect. Neither the author nor writers of Bridgerton could dream of writing a love story this good. The letters were so lovely to read and they never got old. In fact, they kept getting better and better, and each one actually added depth to the relationship. There was such a natural progression of character development, flirting, and romance.
I love Ryden. I could certainly fall in love with him through his letters. I have so many highlights in this book, and most of them are from his letters. He is so considerate and understanding. He is respectful of Aurelise's boundaries and patient in her overcoming her fears while helpfully nudging her to become the brave woman he knows she can be. It felt like he would do literally anything she wished if it made her more comfortable.
"You call yourself selfish for wanting to continue as we were, but darling L, there is nothing I want more than to be what you need."
And Aurelise - what introvert wouldn't relate to her? Talk about character development. So proud of her.
Lastly, I have to comment on the writing itself. There was so much depth to these letters that I found myself taking away a lesson or two from the author.
"The fact that your feelings don't align with your circumstances does not make them any less real. Our emotions follow their own logic, not the logic others might impose upon them."
👏👏👏 I loved this book.
More quotes "Your letters have become as necessary to me as breathing."
"My dearest L, there is nothing left for any enchantress to steal - you already have it all."
"I swear to you that I would never let you drown."
"When you are ready - and only when you are ready - I am here. I have patience enough for both of us. I have always suspected that anything truly worth having with you would require time and care and gentle persistence."
