Unmasked Hearts brings the angst and the heat. The connection between the characters felt genuine and layered, and I loved watching their walls slowly come down. Their swoony chemistry and simmering spice were absolute standouts. The burn is slow, but the payoff? Completely worth the wait. ❤️🔥📚

There was crack put in the pages of this book!! 100/5⭐
I went into this book kinda blind! I normally am a massive DARK romance girly but this book had me in a chokehold by chapter 2 it was such a smooth book to get through the emotions and pain that was gone through the connection of the 2 main characters chemistry and need for each other was everything I needed!!! Don't even get me started on the author she's one of the best people I've met and I'm so lucky that I got a chance to read her work! I LITERALLY COULDN'T STOP READING ONCE I STARTED...I was shocked mostly because I'm a slow reader... JUST READ THE DAMN BOOK!!! Lol I'll recommend this to everyone.. If you haven't read or bought it what are you even doing with your life??? 💜💜💜💜 One of my favorite indie authors!!!

The MMC felt very unlikable and it made me not want to root for him. I was trying to push through but this story really needs an editor. It felt like a draft more than a finished product. Also, the cover is at least partly AI, so if you don’t support generative AI in creative spaces, you can definitely skip this.

This was such a sweet but spicy read, and I was hooked the entire time. Maddison being an ER nurse added that emotional depth, but the real highlight for me was the brother’s best friend trope DONE RIGHT.
The history between them?? The tension?? The “we probably shouldn’t… but we’re going to anyway” energy?? I ate it up.
It felt easy to read, addictive, and just one of those books you keep saying “one more chapter” until suddenly you’re done.
Sweet, a little emotional, but also bringing the heat when it needed to I honestly didn’t want to put it down.

Unmasked Hearts had been sitting on my TBR for months, and the second I finished it, I was like… what was I doing waiting this long?! This was everything I love in a contemporary romance and more.
We follow Madison Mitchell, an ER nurse in NYC who has overcome so much and is finally living her life on her own terms, and Darius Stone, the ultimate NYC playboy with a reputation to match. The two have known each other for years through Madison’s older brother, Kendrick and yes, she absolutely had a crush on him growing up. When fate brings them back into each other’s orbit, the tension, history, lust, and buried secrets collide in a way that is impossible to escape.
This dual POV story dives deep into past trauma, grief, friendship, found family, and ultimately love and devotion. The emotional depth paired with the romance was so well done. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to scream at these characters and I loved every second of it.
The character development was incredible. Everyone felt real, layered, and easy to root for. And the banter? Top tier. The spice was also done with intention, it added to the story rather than feeling thrown in, which made it hit even harder.
For a debut, K. E. Noel absolutely delivered. This is part of an interconnected standalone series, and I will 100% be picking up book two the second it drops.

This book was absolutely phenomenal. I would have finished it in one sitting if life hadn’t kept interrupting me.
From the very beginning, the storyline pulled me in and held my attention the entire time. The pacing was strong, and I found myself completely invested in both the plot and the characters.
The characters were one of my favorite parts of this story. They felt fun, lovable, and genuinely relatable, which made it so easy to connect with them and their journey. The dynamic between the main characters was especially well done, blending several of my favorite tropes seamlessly, including high school crush, brother’s best friend, friends to lovers, and a protective “he falls first” energy.
The chemistry between the characters was incredible. The tension, angst, and emotional moments were balanced so well with the heat, and it made every interaction feel meaningful and intense.
There are also a couple of twists that completely caught me off guard. I won’t say anything more about it to avoid spoilers, but it had me both emotional and shocked in the best way.
Overall, this was such a captivating and enjoyable read, and I’m already looking forward to the next book.

When my indie book club chose a romance and a thriller as options for this month's books, I wasn't sure I was going to read the romance option. However, I'm glad I did. As a cancer survivor this book hit me right in the heart. This is a second-chance spicy romance with some twists and turns along the way. This spunky nurse has a another thing coming if she thinks she'll escape her brother's best friend that easily.

I absolutely loved Unmasked Hearts and happily gave it five stars.
This book delivers on so many levels, starting with the juicy, well-written sex scenes that bring serious heat without overpowering the story. And honestly, who doesn’t love a best friend’s brother trope done right? The chemistry is immediate but layered, never feeling forced.
I also appreciated how the story explored his emotional stress from a past event and how it shaped his choices. He’d settled into a pattern of casual one-night flings, avoiding serious relationships, which made his emotional arc feel realistic and earned.
What made their connection especially compelling was that neither of them knew who the other was at first, yet they were unmistakably drawn to each other. She never believed he noticed her simply because she was his best friend’s little sister, while he had no idea she’d ever had a crush on him. That quiet misunderstanding added depth to their attraction and made their eventual connection even more satisfying.
The story also plays beautifully with timing and a series of moments most people would call coincidences, but they build in a way that feels intentional without being heavy-handed.

This is an amazing brother’s best friend romance! Not only is there heartwarming romance, a little taste of forbidden love, and delicious spice, but there is also some truly engaging twists and turns as you are enveloped in a suspenseful story about a couple with past trauma who has to learn to embrace their vulnerabilities if they want their relationship to last! Such a good debut novel, and would be interested to see what this author writes in the future!

She's an ER Nurse he's a Millionaire/Billionaire for a law firm. They have known each other for years (brother's best friend also!!) Super spicy Halloween scene! It also brought an element of suspense that literally made my jaw drop! It's will also be a great pallet cleanser when you are in between genres!

This book was absolutely brilliant. Kept me engaged from start to finish. Made me laugh cry and swoon over the romance. Definitely has some spicy moments which was fantastic. Definitely worth the read. I highly recommend it. Just note it is not a dark romance but still a fantastic read. I cannot wait for the next book by this amazing and talented author.

Told from 2 POV’s - We have Maddison, the ordinary but beautiful nurse and then we have Darius - Maddison’s brother’s best friend.
Maddison had a crush on Darius when she was a teenager, but with him being a few years older and being her brother’s best friend, he was off limits and she could never tell him.
Darius is a rich lawyer, set to take over his family firm. Known for his playboy lifestyle and never spending more than one night with a girl.
Unbeknownst to the pair, they meet again years later in the hospital where Maddie works, when Darius comes in with his driver who has been in a car accident. Due to a measles outbreak, everyone is wearing masks and the pair don’t recognise each other although they both feel an instant spark from their eyes meeting and the smell of eachother in the air.
A second chance encounter happens at Kendrick’s (Maddies brother) Halloween party…you guessed it. Again they are wearing masks. Will these two figure out who has been behind the masks and let that spark blossom? You’ll have to read it yourself to find out.

I wish Mad and Kendrick had developed a closer relationship as siblings, especially after everything they went through together. I would have loved to see more of that bond.

I heard about this book on TikTok and decided to give it a try, and overall, I had a fun time with it! This is a fast-paced, super spicy contemporary romance with plenty of chemistry and an engaging storyline. I especially enjoyed the main characters and their dynamic. The side characters also caught my attention and left me wanting to learn more about them!
There were a few spots where the writing felt a little choppy, and I noticed some editing errors, but I think that’s part of the charm of discovering indie authors—you get to experience these stories as they grow and evolve. ❤️

Was a cute romance
This is book is good for a first published book. I enjoyed Maddie and Darius though I will say this isn’t my typical book I read. I only gave 4 stars due to some of the wording but that’s just my opinion. I usually read dark romance very rarely do I read just romance. I did feel that part of it was a little predictable, but like I said was good for a first published book by this author.

From the very first pages, I was completely hooked!! I went in expecting a fun, smutty read—but wow, it turned out to be so much more. This story had real depth and emotion. It made me laugh, cry, and feel everything in between.
And yes… the spice? Definitely spicy 🌶️🥵—but it never took away from the storyline, it actually added to the connection between the characters.
If you’re looking for a book that balances emotional storytelling with just the right amount of heat, this one is a must-read. Highly recommend adding it to your TBR!
