Is there more to Leo than Maya first believes? Can they survive the desert and evade the man who has become their sworn enemy? On the run from a brutal cartel boss in Mexico, Maya, an undercover CIA analyst, is up against an equally formidable opponent — the Sonora desert. Her escape back to the States is not guaranteed, but she has some help from the former cartel lieutenant, Leo. Together, they stand a better chance of surviving, but time and resources are fast running out. In a desperate dash for safety, they must outwit a vengeful enemy and try to stay alive in hostile territory.
Desert Gauntlet was a fast paced action-romance. It takes the time to setup the main characters before they are on the run from the villains and then the pacing ramps up. The romance is slow burn as Maya and Leo begin to trust each other. I enjoyed the book.
