Chandler Sisters #3

Finding Wings

Rate this book
Is the life she dreams of going to be put on hold…yet again?

Being the youngest of three sisters isn’t always easy for Britt Chandler, especially when her older sisters have successful lives, and hers feels like it’s still on hold. Britt put all her dreams aside to care for their mother, but now Mom is gone. Just as Britt finally has a chance to blossom, her sister is ordered on bed rest during a difficult pregnancy, and it looks like God is once again calling Britt to be a family caregiver.

Rafe Stuart is unable to forgive himself for a childhood mistake with grave repercussions. No matter how many lives he saves as a first responder, he can’t ever seem to do enough to free his soul from that decades-old tragedy. There definitely isn’t room in his wounded heart for love.

When these two struggling souls encounter each other, hope flares. But they’re both terrified that entangling their complicated lives might destroy them—and those around them. How can they begin to trust that God has the best in mind for them and real purpose beyond what they could have dreamed?

'It was beyond frustrating to have circumstances always dictating her life. When would she ever get to make a choice about how her life looked?'

Deborah Raney brings the last book in her Chandler Sisters series and she saved the best for last, in my opinion. Britt's story is poignant, sad, hopeful, redemptive, and joyful, all rolled into one. I love how she learns that sometimes, just sometimes, God works quite well in the midst of our own disappointments.

Britt Chandler already has her hands full when she realizes that once again she must set aside her desires to care for her pregnant, on bed rest sister. Just like she had cared for her mother as she was dying. Britt wonders if she will ever get to live her live the way she wants to. In the midst of this, she meets Rafe Stuart, an EMT who talked her through her sister's pregnancy emergency. Rafe had a voice that calmed her fears and helped her through a harrowing time. Rafe has been through a terrible childhood mistake and has never forgiven himself. He feels he doesn't deserve a chance at love. Britt definitely doesn't have time for love. But they each feel a definite pull towards the other. Can they trust God in the midst of this turmoil? Could He just have something for them in this difficult season?

Raney writes with such deep heart issues, including real life situations that we all face. She doesn't do fluffy stories, but wonderfully rich, full of life stories. I read this one in a day. Recommended.

*My thanks to Kregel Publishing and the author for a copy of this book. The opinion here is my own.

In this final book of the Chandler Sisters Series, the primary focus is on youngest sister Britt. With the close relationship of the three sisters, readers also have a chance to get caught up on Phee and Jo's lives.

I loved the way that Britt and Rafe initially met and then how they connect again. Unlike Jo, Britt is comfortable with the difficulties that are part of Rafe's life. Rafe does a stellar job of being a big brother to Robby and helping his mother. I got a little weary of the topic of time challenges for Britt and Rafe.

The ending chapters of the novel that wrap up the story for all three sisters was nicely written. My favorite part of the novel may be the Mark Twain quotes - loved those!

My gratitude to publisher Kregel for a complimentary NetGalley copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and the opinions expressed are my own.

Finding Wings was a wonderful wrap up to the Chandler Sisters series! If you haven’t read the first two books, you can probably jump in and enjoy this one. Just know that Britt’s sisters’ stories are the focus of books one and two and all main characters from those books also appear in Finding Wings.

I loved Britt and Rafe’s story. It was so unique! These two ended up being the ones responsible for taking care of family members. Their individual schedules were so full that it was hard for Britt and Rafe to even find time to go on a date together. I loved the way that they ended up getting creative in the way they got to know each other.

Rafe had a very emotional backstory and even as an adult carried burdens and guilt related to things that had happened when he was a child. He was such a great character and a perfect match for Britt. Their personalities really worked well together and it was so fun to watch their relationship develop.

The interactions between the sisters were enjoyable to experience and it has been fun to watch as new members have been added to this family with each novel released.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Have you ever fallen in love with a book from the first chapter simply because the setting is so dreamy that you feel you've escaped to your favorite place? From the beginning, I wanted to settle down into the lives of these characters and just... be there with them! From the naming of the cottages (adorable!) to the absolutely delightful and REAL banter between the sisters and other characters....it was a very reminiscent of "Little Women"...one of my favorites. I shed real tears more than once. Laughed out loud several times, and for the first time ever....I was compelled to actually pull up and play the songs mentioned in the scenes as I read them! Therein was a whole other level of immersion!

This book is excellent in every way.

A great conclusion to a great series. I loved meeting each of the Chandler sisters and loved how the timelines of the three books ran so closely together. Covering a rather short period of time (less than a year and a half) but giving each sister time to meet that special someone and fall in love.

Finding Wings is the third and final book in Deborah Raney's Chandler Sisters series. I have not read the first two books and am thinking I need to go back and fill in the stories of Phee and Jo. Britt's story was such a wonderful story about family and about finding one's place in life. The characters are relatable and likable, people you would like to have as your friends or even your family. Britt and Rafe's journey to love was endearing to follow. The author does a great job of tackling every day issues and also the surprise emergency circumstances that can arise. Finding Wings is a delightful story of learning to embrace life, its beauty and its difficulties as well. It is about knowing that God loves to redeem our pasts and that He is our Help in times of trial. Readers who enjoy contemporary Christian romance will not want to miss Finding Wings. I read a complimentary copy of the book through NetGalley and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved this book! It featured the youngest sister, Britt Chandler.

Britt thought that she was in a place where she did not have dreams of her own. She took care of her dying mother some months ago and now that her oldest sister, Phee, is bedridden because of a difficult childbirth, she feels even more dreamless. What was God teaching her? What was she designed to do with her life?

Because of a 911 call when Phee was in danger of losing her baby she talked to Rafe Stuart and was very much attracted to Rafe's calm demeanor and soothing voice. Britt had forgotten that years ago when she was by herself and heard a crashing sound that she had called 911 then and met Rafe, but life got in the way.

Throughout the story Britt doubts herself. She loves all her sisters, but feels that they are imposing on her life - that she has no life of her own.

I am so glad that Britt found the love of her life. There are some roadblocks along the way that would challenge Britt and Rafe. Rafe is also bound by family responsibilities. Britt and Rafe have so much in common with each other.

I have not read book # 1 in this series, but would very much do that. If you love stories that give you glimpses of family live (good and bad), this is the story for you.

Thank you NetGalley for supplying me with this book.

Finding Wings by Deborah Raney is the most delightful contemporary Christian novel that focuses on family and the faithfulness of God. It is the third book in the Chandler Sisters series but can be read as a stand-alone.
The characters were wonderfully drawn. The love and care of the sisters for each other radiated from the pages of the book.
There is a theme of new beginnings – quite literally and also when we let God redeem our lives. A past event has cast a shadow over a life. God does not want us to live in fear. He wants us to live abundantly free. Within the novel God gives a character the opportunity to face their fears and begin to live in a new freedom.
The lure and love of money corrupts lives. When we let money lead us, we are surely heading for a fall.
Family is important. Our families are all unique. We get different opportunities to show love and to bloom.
Part of the novel is set in a home for the mentally disabled. There were some very touching scenes perfectly captured by Deborah Raney. Having worked with teenagers with special needs, these characters were very dear to my heart.
Pets are therapeutic. People bond and relax over a cat. As a crazy cat lady, I loved these sections in the book and could totally relate.
God is faithful. He walks through life with us. When we face trouble we can call on Him and He will answer us. God is like the emergency services… we dial 999 (or 911) and they arrive to rescue us. We call out to God in prayer and He arrives and rescues us.
I absolutely adored Finding Wings. I love all Deborah Raney’s novels. They are delightful.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

A heartwarming conclusion to the Chandler Sisters series! This time around it's Britt's turn to find her own path to love and life dream. All the sisters are involved in the Airbnb property still, but life gets complicated leaving Britt feeling like it's up to her to shoulder the burden and keep it all going.

"It seemed like her whole life had been spent waiting. But now, she had something worth waiting for."

The characters are so well rounded, with problems that many can relate to, that it feels like they are real people. I would love to be a fourth sister just to experience their true sisterhood, supporting and helping each other through all of life's ups and downs. The plot was interesting, with a special needs sibling, financial problems, a health crisis, and job responsibilities making it hard for the main couple to even get to know each other. I like how they mixed work and play, and learned to trust God through it all with the details of their lives. The idea of letting go of our past mistakes and burdens of misplaced guilt, giving them to God, was an important spiritual theme that popped out at me. So often we needlessly carry things around from year to year that hinder us from growing and loving others.

The romance is a reacquaintance that seems to go from a spark to flame fast, but it is realistic and has a beautiful, sighworthy ending. I was in a bit of a book hangover after the last page. I loved this conclusion to the series and am sad to see it end. It would be lovely and fit the time line perfectly to have a holiday novella to extend the series a bit. Pretty please!

Recommend reading the series in order to follow each of the sister's stories. A must read for contemporary Christian romance fans!
5 stars!

I became hooked on Deborah Raney's books, when I read her Chicory Lane novels, and I have loved her Chandler Sisters series as well! "Finding Wings" is the last novel in the Chandler Sisters series and I was sad to see it end, but loved how it ended. Also, there was a shoutout to a character from her Chicory Lane series and I am hoping that there may be more novels to come that will mention the Chandler girls and their families!

Britt is the youngest Chandler sister and feels like she has had to put her life on hold, has had to live her life revolving around her older sisters' lives. Not that she doesn't love her sisters or do anything for them or that she doesn't love her role with their Airbnb adventure, but she feels like she may be missing out from doing something else. Rafe met Britt years earlier when he responded to a frantic call made by her and it happens that he is the one to respond to her call now when her sister is struggling during her pregnancy. Britt is completely drawn in by his voice and his ability to calmly do his job and help; however Rafe felt anything but calm as it reminded him of a night from his past. As Britt and Rafe begin to talk and spend time together, it is a struggle to find the time with all of their responsibilities and also Rafe is not sure of what all he wants to tell of his family and his past.
Britt, Jo and Phee all are wonderful characters and they were so relatable for me. The three sisters are all so different from each other, but have their similarities and their sisterly bond is enviable. I have enjoyed each of their stories as their true personalities shown through and also at the same time the others sisters' stories continued on in each book. I was sad to see this series end and hope that there will be more stories that will have will have some scenes taking place on their property perhaps. This is a story that will help you to realize that you are who you are and where you are for a reason and God is with us through all of the highs and lows.

"Why had it taken her so long to realize that finding her wings meant embracing life the way it was? In all its beauty, but in all its difficulty too. And recognizing that she had placed her life in God's hands, and it was He who allowed and orchestrated every moment. She'd simply had to learn to embrace what she'd already been given."

This is one of the best quotes from Deborah Raney's latest book, and I believe it sums up this story very well. When I came across Raney's book, I knew her name fell in the grouping of many of the Christian authors I like to follow and read. I don't read many contemporary romances, and after having having finished this book, Mrs. Raney has a fan for life!

Finding Wings is the story of the youngest sister, Britt Chandler, who struggles with being content in her place in life and the sacrifices made on behalf of family. Britt is romanced by Rafe Stuart, an honorable man who has past family regrets of his own. This book pulled on my heart-strings! Raney's subtle weaving explores the value of sisterhood and love within Britt's close-knit family and Rafe's struggle of wanting his own small family to share more of the honesty and closeness he sees in Britt's family. I cried and cheered for these characters as they overcame family and personal obstacles with their faith in God, hope and love for each other and love of their very different families.

This is the third book in this series and can be as a stand-alone book. I will definitely be going back to read the other two books of Britt's sisters and see how their stories unfolded.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest reviews.

Deborah Raney and Beth K. Vogt have created stories that have featured three sisters and each sister has a story to tell. I have read all of Vogt's three stories and read the first and last of Raney's. I have truly enjoyed each of these five stories. While contemporary romance is not by chosen genre, I did enjoy these stories. Vogt stories focused mainly on the three sisters with a hint of romance; whereas, Raney's stories actually leaned more toward the romance of each sisters with their sister interaction. I enjoyed Raney's stories. With her latest and final book in the Chandler sisters' stories, Finding Wings, I really liked seeing Britt and Rafe tried to find their way through the struggles of falling in love. When Rafe was introduced, I saw him as a playboy with the way he came off with Stacie, but then Raney made him more realistic and charming as the story moved along. When Rafe had to face his ultimate fear, I liked how Raney made him face it and overcome it all in one big overarching moment in the story. As for Britt, she finally figures out what she wanted to do in her life, which was not that dramatic of a story as Rafe's, but it made her change too. Overall, Finding Wings was an enduring story of family and sisters. I recommend fans of Vogt's series to read this series too.

I received a complimentary copy of Finding Wings by Deborah Raney, but the opinions stated are all my own.

What a lovely clean contemporary story, book 3 of the Chandler sisters. It is the first book I have read from this author. Which also means it’s the first book I’ve read in the series. It worked as a stand-alone, but I want to go back and read the stories of Phee and Jo. Britt is the youngest of the three and was feeling a bit lost in where her life is suppose to go. So this Is a story of her finding her path. There are many stumbling blocks and life lessons learned. She was a very strong yet sweet character. Rafe had a great family life, until he was 10 years old. When his life turned upside down and he was left with a heavy load of guilt and responsibility. He had grown into that role of a responsible adult and hid the insecurities that he wasn’t good enough. I really liked the characters and they worked really well together. We go through so many trying times in our lives. It is good to read a book that doesn’t weigh you down, but shows how to build you up. To solve problems and find the faith to be able to continue on and make life better! Although this story deals with some trying issues, it is done lite heartedly and makes you feel good. A Christian read, but not overdone or preachy.

Deborah Raney winds up the Chandler Sisters series with a heart warming story.

It seems that Britt, the youngest of the Chandler sisters, is always making sacrifices. First caring for her mom, when she becomes sick and eventually dies. Then carrying for her pregnant sister, who is on bed rest. Along with the maintenance of the Airbnb she and her sisters run. Britt tries to find her way, and her wings, for her life and future.

When she finds Phee on the floor in a pool of blood, Rafe an EMT, talks her through the emergency and helps her until an ambulance can arrive. Enchanted by this hero, she meets Rafe and they try to find ways to get to know one another through their busy life schedules. Britt and Rafe's story is one of challenges and learning to understand each other. As they fall in love, will they trust God to write their story?

Deborah Raney writes with so much heart, she opens the door to your imagination. I loved the first two sister stories, and this one rounds out the series. I only wish we could have peeked in on the last wedding.

The final book in the Chandler Sisters series is the story of Britt. I think I felt more of a kinship with her being the youngest sister and feeling as though she would never have her own happy ever after. Being the youngest girl in my family I had so many of the same emotions that plagued Britt. I was so glad to see her willing to accept God’s will for her life and not be desperate and accept someone that would have made for a miserable life. In the end all of the Chandler sisters made wonderful matches and God worked everything out for them beautifully. Deborah Raney is an excellent writer with wonderful stories to tell. I recommend this whole series as I enjoyed reading each sister’s story and going through their ups and downs with all of them. I think you will love Britt and Rafe. Finding Wings is the last in the Chandler Sister series. I am sad to see this series end. I loved all of the sisters. Deborah Raney's writing is outstanding. She writes her storylines and her characters in such a way that the reader can really relate. One knows their thoughts and their feelings just as if they were real and living their lives. With this last in the series, Ms. Raney pulls us all together. I have loved the character of Britt since the beginning. She is fun, lovable, but really lost. She isn't sure she will ever find her future and her everlasting. With the addition of Rafe, I found this to be my favorite of the series. Rafe and Britt's interactions together made me laugh, cry and believe that God does work in His time. He is working even when we feel that He has forgotten us. I have really enjoyed this series. I look forward to more from Ms. Raney. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.

It’s always a bad idea to finish a wonderful book just before bed because my heart and soul are so full and overflowing and I’m sad that this is the final installment of this trilogy so I will just lay in bed reminiscing this story until who knows how late??
As the third sister meets the man she will fall in love with, almost instantly,(I love it!) their relationship becomes shaped somewhat by the circumstances that are out of their control. Time and obligations constantly work against them as sister Phee awaits her first baby on bed rest and sister Jo is planning her wedding. But nothing can stop God orchestrating every detail of their story. We all have had trials we never ever thought would happen to us, unthinkable things. But the redeeming factor? God is in it. So we embrace it and know that joy is just around the corner. I hope Deb is thinking of revisiting the Chandler sisters and their cottages in the forest again. I have a feeling there is much more to tell😊

I loved the Chandler's sisters series and was really looking forward to the last book. I was happy to see Britt's and Rafe's story developed. With Rafe's silliness and quotes and Britt's tenderness and compassion. The book shows that even when we may see things are almost impossible to accomplished with a little bit of creativity and effort things can be done. It is also nice to see the sister's love for each other and also how Luke, Quinn and Mateo have become all part of the family and how they fit in together.

The book has a really nice message that just because as Christian we don't have a big testimony of how God saved us doesn't mean that we should feel that our life is less important in the eyes of others people.

I love Britt's story. As always, Deborah Raney has taken on some difficult topics and created a beautiful story filled with hope. I've read all three of the Chandler Sisters books. Finding Wings resonates with me the most, perhaps because I'm the youngest child or because Britt is searching for her purpose. Deb tapped into the realities of being the youngest daughter and brought that to life. The family contrasts in the story add depth. I cheered for Britt and Rafe as they struggle to make time to get to know each other and care for family. There's also a beautiful surprise for Jo, Britt's sister. If you haven't read the series, I highly recommend it. Once you read Finding Wings, you'll want to know Phee and Jo's stories, too. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Deborah Raney is one of my all-time favorite authors and she continues to be a truly great story-teller in this third in the series of the Chandler sisters. Loved this book & the continuing story of the sisters and their bond they that has formed even more while caring for their dying mother. The two older sisters, Phylicia and Joanna, have gone on to have successful lives while Britt seems like she is stuck on hold. When she finally feels like she starts moving forward, her sister gets put on bed-rest to finish out her pregnancy & Britt again become the caretaker. How and who will help her to move forward?

Thanks to NetGalley & the publsher, Kregel Publications for an advanced copy of this book to read. This is my honest and unibased opinion.

This is the first book in the series that I have read. Even though I haven't read the first two books I still felt like I got to know Britt's sisters, Phee and Jo from the previous two books. I think I like it because it reminds me of my own life with my two sisters. I liked how Britt and Rafe made time for each other by doing things with each other and their respective families instead of just dating. They all grew together as a family. Rafe and Britt both had to work to overcome stuff in their pasts to give them a future together. Finding Wings is a good story of discovering who you are and moving on from there.

You'll enjoy a memory of how Brit and Rafe met for the first time and now for the second time! Unusual circumstances! The Chandler sisters are partners in their AirBNB but with Phee pregnant and on bed rest and Jo engaged, most of the work is falling to Brit! You will admire how Brit and Rafe manage to explore their interest in each other despite Brit's sisters and Rafe's responsibilities to his "ma" and brother. Families are wonderful but they can also cause complications. I enjoyed this third book in the Chandler Sisters series by Deborah Raney and recommend it to others. I received a complimentary e-book through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

First off I'd like to apologize to my family for ignoring you for 2 days while I read this book. I did not want to have any conversations, all I wanted to do was read this book. I seriously could not stop reading it!!!!

Obviously, I adored this book!!! This was my favorite in the series. It had a great flow to it and the main characters were so refreshing.

Though his name got me messed up sometimes and I heard it differently in my head. It is an unusual name. 😉

You can feel the love between these sisters while reading this book and the series.

I highly recommend this book. This series is great too.

This is a very satisfying conclusion to the Chandler Sisters series. With oldest sister Phee married to Quinn and expecting their first child and Jo engaged to Luke, youngest sister Bree wonders about her purpose and dreams. She meets Rafe, a handsome EMT, during a traumatic time. Rafe has a lot of family baggage that makes their relationship challenging. I liked the characters, the humorous moments, and the themes of redemption and waiting on God's timing is worth doing. Though this could be read on it's own, I recommend also reading the prior books in the series for the ultimate in enjoyment.

This was a lovely end to a great series. Sad to see the last of these Sisters. This book was more about the youngest sister - Britt. What I really enjoyed with these books is the fact that, although each of the books focus on 1 of the sisters, All the sisters are involved in each book. I think you read as much about each sister equally in each book, which I really love. They really do work together, displaying different gifts. If you like family saga and romance, then this is the series for you. I'd say its more family saga than out and out romance.
I managed to get these books from the Library (I can't often get many CF from our library)

I loved this series! Even though I have no sisters or maybe because I don't . The dynamics, the love, the bond and the camaraderie between these sisters was so evident.
This was Britt's story, the youngest of the sisters and her journey ' finding wings'. which is to say 'finding God's will for her life and future. Britt and Rafe both feel the pull toward each other but neither has time in their lives to pursue a relationship. But the effort to get to know each other is well worth dealing with the baggage that they have to deal with in doing so.
Deborah Raney writes such satisfying stories and this is no exception. I loved reading all the sister stories but I hate to leave them. Maybe in a few years, we can read Mateo's story and catch up with them!
I recommend this whole series!!

I am going to miss the Chandler sisters and their Airbnb business. I enjoyed this finale of the series and would say it was likely my favorite of the series. Britt with her book club, airBNB management and the like, gave me so much I could relate to her about. I think the only thing I struggled with the series about was wondering if guys like the ones Ms. Raney created actually exist in real life. The story captured the hard parts of relationships without being overly deep, and was a happy read to enjoy this fall.
