THE SPRITE SISTERS: 4 SISTERS, 4 ELEMENTS, 4 POWERS

FIRE. WATER. EARTH. AIR

The Mystery of the Locked Room is 8th title in the bestselling Sprite Sister series about the four sisters with magical powers. Aimed at readers aged 7-13 years, Sprites have sold over 500,000 books. This story introduces the theme of shapeshifting to the series.

Each of the Sprite Sisters has a magic power aligned to one of the elements, Fire, Water, Earth and Air. This magic must be kept secret and used only for good. The ages of the four girls are now: Flame, 15, Marina, 14, Ash, 12 and Ariel 11 years.

Snow is about to fall at the end of the autumn term at Drysdale’s School. Flame is agonising over her relationship with Quinn, while Marina is busy rehearsing for her leading role in the school play.

Late one afternoon, Ash’s intuition is alerted by the curious behaviour of twin boys new to the senior school. She follows the twins to the headmaster’s office, but they vanish into thin air. When the locked room is found ransacked, Ash is certain the twins are responsible – but how did they get in? Back at Sprite Towers, Ariel soon has a theory.

The Sprite Sisters quickly realise the Treadwell twins are much more than they appear to be. When one of the sisters is hurt, and with havoc created at every turn, the Sprites must act quickly. But have they met their match in the twins with the beady black eyes and strangely pointed teeth?

THE SPRITE SISTERS Four sisters. Four elements. Four powers.

THE SPRITE SISTERS - 4 SISTERS, 4 ELEMENTS, 4 POWERS

Sheridan Winn lives in Norfolk, England, where she was born. She is known for her fantasy adventure series, The Sprite Sisters, which has sold over half a million books. A major feature film - Vier Zauberhafte Schwestern - was released in 2020. It was produced by blue eyes fiction and distributed by Disney Deutschland.

The idea for the Sprite Sister books popped into Sheridan’s head, late one night. She was very lucky to be able to find a publisher, Piccadilly Press, who liked her idea and gave her a contract to write the first book, The Circle of Power.

This was followed by The Magic Unfolds, The Secret of the Towers, The Ghost in the Tower, New Magic, The Boy With Hawk-like Eyes, Magic at Drysdale's School and The Mystery of the Locked Door. The books are best read in sequence but are stand-alone stories.

There are currently eight English-language Sprite Sister titles published by Sheridan Winn Limited and available as paperbacks and as e-books for Kindle. The German titles – of which there are 14 – are published by Fischer Verlag. (Ten titles in the main series and four prequel stories).

Vol 9, A Wisdom of Owls, and Vol 10, The Power of Four (the final story), will be published in English language in due course.

The eldest of four sisters, Sheridan Winn grew up in a rambling country house and many of the elements in the Sprite stories come from her own childhood. The stories are deeply rooted in the landscape of Norfolk and every location is somewhere real.

Style and Language
Sheridan Winn once again abducts the reader into the magically and charming world of the Cantrip family, where the four sisters Flame, Marina, Ash and Ariel fight the bad and evil twins Simon and Oliver.

The author uses a simple but very sensitive writing style and places her words nice and easy. Every page brings something new, something to smirk or something to laugh. And there is a great atmosphere in that novel. It always amazes me, how beautiful those books are, even when they content some bad scenes.

Characters
The four Cantrip sisters are very close to each other. They might not be able to spend that much time together since they go to different schools and different classes, but the always manage to find time and a place where they can talk about their problems and how to solve them. Flame is really lovesick ´cause she had to break up with Quinn. She can´t tell him about her magic powers and that means she often has to lie to him and that makes her sick – in every way. But the break up doesn´t solves her misery and so she has not only to fight the evil twins, but also her heartsickness.

The author Sheridan Winn has a great way to show her readers how Flame and her family deals with all the difficulties and problems that come along the way when you have kids of different age. But the love of a family, the wonderful bond of the siblings and a healthy home are the best thing that can happen to a girl.

Result
A charming and wonderful new story about the four enchanting Cantrip-sisters. This book is not only for kids nice to read, it is also a great opportunity to be used as a bedtime story.

Another excellent book in The Sprite Sisters Series. I really loved this series when I was a child and still do. The only thing that could of been improved is the ending. Looking forward to the last two books in the series. I hope I don't have to wait for too long.
