But there was a time when I was fierce and unrelenting, a wolf shifter who was primal and respected because of my strength.
I felt unstoppable.
But all of that changed in an instant when a near-fatal injury during a brutal fight silenced my inner wolf.
Now, I was lost, shattered, since my beast had gone dormant, the power it took from me making me feel wholly… human.
I felt like a broken male, my mind a dark, twisted place where anger and despair were the only things that kept me company. No one could ever understand. No one could help me.
Without my wolf, I was just a shell. A beast without a purpose. A predator without prey. And as the days passed and I healed physically, mentally I found myself becoming destructive. The rage simmered in my blood, and I knew eventually I wouldn’t be able to control it.
But the hardest realization was that since my wolf was gone, I’d never find my mate. I knew she was out there somewhere. But because my wolf was silent, I’d never recognize her as mine.
That was until something shifted in me. I felt… something I hadn’t felt in forever.
Curiosity. Interest. Desire.
And it was all because of a quiet, beautiful woman who worked for the royal family. I didn't want to be gruff with her, didn’t want her to see how dark I’d become. But I snapped, growled at the female, and hated myself for it.
And she stood up to me when no one else would.
She couldn’t be my mate if my wolf stayed silent. But I desired her like I’d never desired another creature before.
Hmmm, idk, this was a bit too fast for my liking. 🤔
If readers have been keeping up with the series, they know that Lennox sustained injuries in a fight. Injuries that didn't just affect him but his wolf too. To save them, the healer of their clan made the choice to quiet his wolf, allowing them both to recover. In the present time, it's been months since that fight, and his beast is still silent.
Because of this, he became grumpy, irritable, and always on the lookout for a fight just to feel something. But there's one servant who didn't back down from his difficult attitude, and that's Aisling. He felt drawn to her for some reason, but since his beast was still hiding, he couldn't figure out if she was his mate or not. She feels that same pull towards him too; that's why, for some reason, she just couldn't stay away.
This book was short, and it was implied that the MCs had spent some time with each other for a while. Well, that is, if you consider her cleaning his room and him being broody while hovering around as bonding time. So when they finally acted on the pull they felt, though they weren't sure if they were fated, it really felt like it came out of nowhere. 😕
Probably readers are supposed to just go with it since it's been months. But idk, I personally want to see those times they were around each other to see the linked bond. It was just hard to buy the sudden 180 because I hadn't really gotten into their connection yet. 🤷♀️ Anyhoo, like I said, they didn't give a flying crap whether they're mates or not (but they really are). They decided that they're it for each other, and that's the end of the discussion. 😅
As for the other side plot, a new problem has emerged, and there’ll be new enemies that they have to face. This book is mainly an introduction to that problem, so there will be an overarching plot in addition to the romance in the next story. We also found out that Kane will be the next MMC, and I'm going to assume, like his brother and cousin, he's also going to be a hot and psychotic vampire. 😂
Overall, this was fine, but I just didn't feel that connected to the MCs. I can't help but feel that something's missing in their relationship, and idek what is. But maybe that’s just me, and I’m sure other readers will love their story. That said, I’m really curious about those bad otherworld creatures, and I can't wait to find out what happens in the next books!
Fated mates, even if it took a little while for them to see it, dual V, and totally safe!
I love me a duet-narrated book (which is why I rounded up 😮💨).
I still need to read this up of the books before this one, so I felt a little lost. But we get a quick summary when it the book opens up.
Lennox was badly injured and is taking a long time to recover. His wolf (or his lycan) is being kept at bay by a witch so that he could heal. He doesn’t know that, of course, but he just thinks that something’s wrong with him ☹️. Because his Wolf isn’t responding to his call, it feels like a part of him is missing… and without his wolf, he’ll never be able to find his mate 😅.
Ainsling has been helping around, taking care of Lennox. She can’t help but be attracted to him, but also can’t stand how much of a grouch he is 😒. She feels some type of way for him. and doesn’t exactly know why… and when Lennox starts feeling some type of way towards her, that’s when it’s confirmed…
They’re mates 👀
What I liked/loved: —the audiobook 👏🏻. Not only is a duet narration, but the accents are phenomenal 😮💨. Reading the book also allows you to “hear” the accent, but it’s always better when you can actually hear it 🤣
—the 🔥. Well, yeah. It’s Jenika snow 😅. All starts about 30% and continues until the end of the book 😉. By about 50% is when they do it all 🫠, and Lennox is going to make up for all the years that he’s been waiting for his mate 🥵
—how diiiirty it gets 💦 and the amount of times they squeeze it all in while facing so many enemies 👀
—the previous character characters ❤️. I have some catching up to do, but I love seeing characters from early in the series 🫶. But I also see some other characters that I need to read 👀
—Magdalena😭😭😭 🫶🫶🫶🫶
—how protective the males are, especially Lennox ❤️. I love how he comes to save the day 🥹, but also, Ainsling can stand on her own too 💁🏻♀️
—Dual Vs 👏🏻. I love this in mated books 👏🏻 I wish all of them were like this 😒
—the feeling that there’s more to come
What I wanted more of: —more buildup to their relationship 🫠. Yes, they’re mates, but I’d love to see tension between characters; we don’t really see that here 😒
—more backstory 😅. Because I’m behind on the series, I felt like I needed a little more backstory with some of the villains. I know I should care more, lol, but I just kept reading 🤣
I really love Jenika Snow’s writing, and this book just reminded me why. I did hop on the series a bit late since this is book 8, so there were moments where I felt slightly out of the loop, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying it. I ended up listening to it in one go and managed to find my footing pretty quickly.
The dual narration was fantastic, and honestly… that MMC’s accent had me melting. Totally swoon-worthy. The spice was next level too — Jenika Snow absolutely knows how to turn up the heat and keep things intense. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it, though I’d suggest starting from book one to get the full experience.
Pure gold dust. I really enjoyed The wolfs appetite by Jenika Snow.
Lennox is a brooding shifter prince and Ainsling is the wolf to pull him out of it. Lennox was badly injured and has lost connection with his wolf. He feels lost and can’t even sense his fated mate.
Ainsling works for the royals and tends to Lennox room. Every morning she asks him the same questions but the prince has lost interest in the little things. He’s broken and can no longer enjoy the light.
Alphas are used to being the most dominant in the room but as Ainsling becomes more brave, Lennox can’t help but take notice of her. She asks him questions and pushes his buttons. Even though Lennox isn’t in connection with his wolf, he can’t help wondering about Ainsling.
This is book 8 in the series and the first one I’ve read. We’re dropped striaght into the thick of war but I didn’t feel like I’d missed anything. I liked the character and the story had me rooting for the journey. Shane East and MK Blackwood narrated the Wolf’s appetite perfectly. This was an enjoyable audiobook with all the spice you’d expect from Jenika Snow.
this is one of my favorite and safe fantasy series of all time i devoured the whole series in 3 days and jenika snow officially became an author i can count on to enjoy a quick and spicy read that delivers all my favorite tropes in the fantasy world
This is the first book in this series I’ve DNFd. Zero chemistry between the mains and it was sadly just, boring. There’s no depth; not in the story or the characters. No relationship development. No character growth. Everything is flat and one dimensional. I’ll still try the next in the series since it’s been a while between this installment and the previous book.
3.5 Ok so I’ve waited so long for Lennox story and I must say I loved how he and Aisling find each other and also how all previous characters and there mates where brought together to fight a common enemy. Aisling is a strong she wolf and she matches Lennox perfectly she has a fighters spirit. But I also feel like the story was rushed and just when it was getting good it was over. I have so many questions and there were no answers. I needed more that the book just didn’t give and I loved this whole series just this one fell a little short for me.
I hate to say this was a pointless addition to the series, as I have really enjoyed delving into this Lycan-Vampire paranormal world, but it has been over two years since the last book was released, and this only confuses the world-building.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read. The world building and detail were brilliant.
I thoroughly enjoyed the prologue and chapt 1. The action/pace really picks up from chap 9 onwards, which I loved.
The only things stopping this from being 5 stars for me are
I would have liked more conversation and less internal dialogue.
I noticed that when speaking, it was written with Scottish dialect, but all of the internal dialogue wasn't. I found this hindered the flow of the reading, flicking from one to another.
Jenika Snow is an author that I can count on for great spice and books that are quick reads. The Wolf's Appetite did not disappoint! I have read the first couple of books in The Lycans series so I was unsure if I was going to be lost or not but everything was explained for those did not read the previous books! I was a bit confused about the relationship between a few of the characters. But otherwise the spice was great and the plot was fast moving.
Jenika Snow is an author I find myself coming back to time and time again and this series in paticular is a favourite so seeing a new one was coming out...I ran to get it lol
Lennox and Aisling were an interesting pair. I loved how she didn't cower from his gruff / standoffish nature at the start and really stood up to him.
Audiobook: Duet Narration by Shane East & M.K. Blackwood 4⭐️1/2
If you love emotionally intense paranormal romance with wounded alphas, fated mates, and primal tension, The Wolf’s Appetite delivers .Thank you @jenikasnow for this opportunity to listen to this amazing story
Lennox is introduced as a Lycan prince who has lost a core part of himself, and that absence shapes every interaction, every thought, and every choice he makes. He’s gruff, closed-off, and simmering with barely contained rage—but beneath that hard exterior is a male struggling with identity, purpose, and what it means to exist without the thing that once defined him. This is a broken alpha story done right: raw, introspective, and deeply emotional.
Aisling brings a quiet strength to the story that perfectly balances Lennox’s intensity. She doesn’t demand space—she claims it. Calm, observant, and far more resilient than she appears, she refuses to be intimidated by Lennox’s sharp edges. Their connection builds through tension, curiosity, and undeniable attraction, creating a slow-burn fated mates romance that feels earned rather than rushed.
What truly stands out is the emotional push-and-pull. Lennox believes certain things are no longer possible for him, especially when it comes to connection and belonging, while Aisling challenges those beliefs simply by being herself. The romance is possessive, protective, and deeply instinctual, yet grounded in emotional growth and vulnerability.
Lennox has lost his wolf. Well not lost but his wolf is hurting and he is unable to shift. It is a long process to recovery. What should have taken a few days as a shifter, he is healing slowly at a human’s rate. He certainly doesn’t need Aisling to baby him. But there is something about her. Is she his mate? Aisling has been nothing but kind and supportive for Lennox. He is hurting but he doesn’t have to be a jerk about it. She keeps her distance as much as she can but there is something about him. He can’t be her fated mate, can he?
Lennox is searching for his wolf but not having him in the background drives him crazy. But his body knows that Aisling is his fated mate. These two don’t have their wolves directing them, just their hearts. I love that. The passion is intense. But we have a war starting and we are calling all hands. When the vamps come, we feel like things are even but the darkness is not playing that way. The women are even on point. I enjoyed this one. But this isn’t the end. The darkness isn’t gone. Blood is shed and we still need to heal a rift. Looking forward to reading about Kane. Where is his mate to be?
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another absolute win for the Lycan audiobook series 🐺🎧 Shane East and M.K. Blackwood didn’t just narrate this one—they possessed it. Jenika Snow’s story hit harder, deeper, and yes… I devoured it in one sitting (pun fully intended).
This is paranormal romance done right: short, spicy, emotional, and loaded with drama. A broken Lycan prince who’s lost his wolf, his purpose, and his fire—until a quiet, fearless woman steps into his world and refuses to back down. The angst? Delicious. The tension? Unreal. The slow realization that maybe he isn’t as broken as he believes? Chef’s kiss 😮💨
Broody, wounded alpha ✔️ Soft but strong heroine ✔️ Fated-mate energy with extra yearning ✔️
If you like your shifters tortured, your romance intense, and your spice quick but effective—this audiobook is it. I’m already feral for the next one and counting down like my wolf depends on it 🐺🔥
Thank you Jenika for the ALC these are my unhinged thoughts.
I have been awaiting Lennox’s story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you haven’t read books 1-7 here is your sign to do it. They are not necessary to read but for full immersion into this world, I would advise it. This is a spicy paranormal romance with Lycans and Vampires.
Lycan Prince Lennox was near death after a brutal fight but what he lost something much worse, his wolf . He feels lost and angry. What is a shifter without the ability to shift? These kinds of thoughts plague him. None of the staff can or will deal with him, except one. Aisling is a member of the staff for the royal family. She is the only one who will put up with his abhorrent treatment and give it back to him. This is their story.
This contemporary paranormal wolf shifter fantasy romance was super fast-paced, action-packed, and verrrrry heavy on the spice.
There are some great tropes in The Wolf’s Appetite too, especially for how short this book is!
Fated Mates Touch Her and ☠️ Possessive AF Male Grumpy/Sunshine
Aesling is one of very few people undeterred by Lennox and his broodiness, but with a very quiet confidence. Lennox is utterly obsessed with Aesling, but goes from not noticing her at all (seemingly) to being hyper aware of her super fast. There was a LOT of whispering from Aesling which threw me off a few times, but it was an entertaining novel!
That narrators did a fantastic job on this book. Their accents were perfection. It’s not a genre I am usually drawn to, but I did really enjoy the content and the shenanigans of the story.
We follow Lennox, a royal Lycan who is unable to feel his wolf since becoming injured, and Aisling, a female Lycan who works for the royal family. Lennox is a gruff grump, whilst Aisling is strong headed and not scared to stand up to him.
There are vampires, witches and otherworldly creatures in this story and it’s a great read.
🐺 Fated mates ✨ Grumpy x Sunshine 🐺 Touch Her and 💀 ✨ Posess!ve MMC 🐺 Strong-headed FMC ✨ Set in Scotland
Lennox is feeling a storm of emotions after his injury. Losing his wolf has made him unbearable to be around. Aisling has patience to be there to serve his meals, but she also stands up to him. These two find each other and although his wolf is silent be feels she is his fated mate. When threats from the underworld comes out so does his wolf. All the allies are together and waiting to fight this unknown threat. Through this Lennox and Aisling bond with a love so fierce, you hope it can survive any threat.
I'll buy and read anything Jenika writes... she is such an amazing author. Love all her books... for some reason I wasn't too familiar with this series but I got familiar real quick... omfg...loved them all!!! Such a good series and this books is 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌 chef's kiss... I can't wait for what else she comes up with next... love all her mafia books can't wait to see what else she is bringing to the mafia world
DNF at 70%. I couldn't take the dialogue anymore. Why were their inner monologue in english but their dialogues in "scottish"... like. Just say they have a broque/accent. It made my head hurt to read those dialogues and I decided to cut my losses. I'm giving it 2 stars cause apart from that the story also seemed rushed and surface level... but i would've finished had it not been for the way those dialogues were written.
A quick paranormal read with lots going on but great for someone that likes fantasy to not be so much. I’ve not read any other books on the series (so far) and was easily able to follow along and not feel as though I was missing anything.
I devoured this one in audio with the beautiful swooney voice of Shane East leading things along. MK Blackwood was wonderful as well with her sweet lilt.
This book held me captive. I went in planning to just listen for an hour or so after finishing my last audiobook, but I was captivated. She might be a shorter story, but she was action packed. Battles and spice mixed in with falling in love. Amazing. And the narrators were fantastic. I don’t think I’ve heard the female narrator before but she was amazing. I forgot I was listening, it felt more like I was observing this world unfolding around me. 👏Bravo!
The Wolf’s Appetite by Jenika Snow is the story of Lennox and Aisling. After a brutal injury, Lennox is disconnected. But, his caregiver, Aisling, doesn’t give up on him! Meanwhile, things in the Lycan world are in the midst of chaos!!
Lennox was so broody and dark. Aisling was filled with promise and light. But, is there anyway to fix the issues within the Lycan world? Great story!!
I couldn't put this book down. Aisling and Lennox's story isn't just about them. There is so much going on between the world's and witches and these two, it sucks you in. I loved these two together. She is just what Lennox needed after everything that happened to him. Excited to find out what's next for them.
Wolf shifter Lennox is a shadow of his former self literally. After being horribly wounded in battle his wolf is gone. Now a recluse Lennox shuns everyone except Aisling who may be his fated mate. Steamy as only Jenika Snow can write.
I love this series so naturally when I saw the next book out I immediately got my claws into it. thrilled to continue the world that jenika creates! I am only sad that there is no more to continue my journey through these books.
I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I have with some of the other books Jenika has written. I kept thinking why no female soldiers. I’m probably just in a mood with all the crap going on in the world right now.
Didn't enjoy this book as much as I have enjoyed others by Jenika. I kept thinking they could do with including females amount the warriors, yes I know that puts those women danger from their colleagues but....
