New allies, irritable neighbors… in-laws. Can a Lord never rest?

As Wyle reconnects with his hometown, old relationships are rekindled. His parents, his younger brother, and the man that exiled him are all waiting for Wyle in Southcroft. Feelings are complicated on both sides, but Wyle has ambitious plans and a missing piece that only the Mayor of Southcroft can fill.

But Wyle has a lot to offer in return. Soul Cores, dungeon access, and new trade routes are just the beginning. It may not be safe becoming Wyle’s ally, but it sure is profitable.

In the midst of this reunion, Wyle gets an unexpected visit from every man’s worst visiting in-laws. Vera’s royal family has high expectations, and even higher opinions of themselves.

As if that weren’t enough, Emerald Valley has taken in a fleeing Noble from one of their neighbors. Thadwick is the younger brother of the cruel Ruler to the north. He wants the throne for himself… and he wants someone else to win it for him.

Lucky for him, Wyle never backs down from a challenge.

Really slow moving

I like slice of life so slow moving doesn't bother me but this series has ground to a halt. Nothing happens to advance the arc of this story until the last 10 pages. This is not a criticism but the spice has been cut way down and what's there, is some femdom stuff I'm not a fan of but that's a matter of taste so decide for yourself. The good and the reason it's still 3 stars is that the characters, leveling and empire building are still really good. I still recommend the series. Some of the first books are 5 star books.
