REVIEW Loved this book! I could end my comments there, but I probably shouldn’t. “Why did you enjoy it so much?” you cry. Well, for a start, it’s smart; it’s what I’d call a YA novel for ‘intelligent’ readers. So, basically, if you just want adventure, adventure, adventure, then this book might not be for you. But if you enjoy a mix – a little adventure, a lot of character development, and a book that’s challenging in terms of ‘how the world was created’, then this novel is a gem! It's the story of Chumana (cool name) who is having a few ‘problems’ at home involving her poorly mother. But her life is about to change – big time! – when she is informed of her bloodline dating back to the Anunnaki, a race of ET being who proceeded even Adam and Eve! They tell of a war coming; a cataclysmic war. What follows is a smartly plotted, suspense-filled YA drama as Chumana is pulled every which way – not just physically, but mentally too. There’s a lot to enjoy here, folks. The writing style has a good flow to it – there’s very little in the way of purple prose – and the MC, Chumana, is fun to get to know and to root for. Why? Well, she’s smart, and YAs love smart, female protagonists – think Katniss Everdeen without the archery skills! But, best of all, it’s thought-provoking as the reader gets to re-understand and reevaluate the universe, how it all works, and who’s in charge! I see this is the first book of the set; a trilogy possibly? Well, if Frequency is anything to go by, this is going to be a very interesting journey. So, all you 13 – 18 year olds out there, jump on board, and enjoy the ride!
