📚 Book 4 in the Sea Glass Beach Mysteries by Amelia Pine
It wasn't the best start to the festive Hallowe'en season, finding candymaker Milo face down in a boiling kettle of his bubbling candy corn mixture. This time, Paige Andrews promises to leave the investigation to the police; she's too busy with a ghost hunter on her hands who's planning a YouTube vlog about the spirit who inhabits her millinery shop. When a valuable costume goes missing from the museum and its replica is filmed floating about in her store, Paige begins to piece together the part of an intricate mystery.
I love this series, which gently suggests mystical elements and combines them with very modern murders. Paige is a persistent investigator who patiently works through clues to help solve crimes. Each time I take a trip to Sea Glass Beach, I know I'm in for some great times and wonderful company.
Killer Candy Corn has the essentials of a super Hallowe'en cosy. And all the ingredients for a wonderful experience are there: a great cast, a fantastic setting and a strong mystery with plenty of red herrings to keep things interesting.
Thank you to Amelia Pine and BookSirens for the opportunity to read this digital ARC. As always, my opinions are my own, honest and true.
This was an awesome read. The characters are amazing. Every time I thought I had figured out the suspect, another suspect emerged. This book has many twists and turns, and I absolutely loved it. This book has everything Halloween, from candy corn to ghosts to murder. This book definitely did not disappoint, and the club that helps to solve the murder did not disappoint.
"Killer Candy Corn (A Sea Glass Beach Mystery #4)" by Amelia Pine has Paige Andrews and her dining club friends investigating a Halloween timed murder. When the local candy maker is found dipped in his own candy corn vats the crew is told to not investigate. However, the do get asked to keep an eye on what's going on in relation to a costume that went missing from the man's Halloween museum. The cops have the murder covered but are spread thin and know the dining club is going to investigate something. Might as well keep them busy with the lesser issue.
Well, too bad the two problems might be connected. So of course Paige is going to investigate both. Especially after the victim's daughter asks the dining club for help. This is all going on at the same time the Ghost Gumshoe show is trying to film Paige's hat shop haunting. This gets part of the story more attention towards the being of the book but tapers off once the ghost gets a message passed along to Paige.
I really enjoyed this addition to the series. It kept me guessing. In the end I had one suspect in mind but it ended up not being them. I also really enjoyed all the costume info and millinery. Especially since it's what I studied in college.
A man was found dead in a vat of liquid candy corn. Was it a an accident or something sinister? This is a pretty good mystery. I highly recommend it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Killer Candy Corn is the fourth book in the Sea Glass Beach Mystery series by Amelia Pine, but could be read as a standalone mystery. The amateur sleuth is Page Andrews, a milliner with her own possibly (probably) haunted boutique in Sea Glass Beach.
In this Halloween time cozy mystery, Paige finds a local candymaker in a vat of molten candy corn and vows to find out which resident of Sea Glass Beach has a deadly sweet tooth.
Every Sea Glass Beach Mystery is a treat, and this book is no exception. Killer Candy Corn delivers a bewitching blend of coastal charm, Halloween spookiness, and a cleverly plotted whodunit.
Paige and her quirky group of dining club friends have to contend with red herrings, hidden grudges, and uncanny clues that lean just enough into the paranormal to make you wonder whether restless spirits might be involved. Author Amelia Pine does a solid job planting clues along the way so you can puzzle alongside the sleuth and find enough breadcrumbs to form guesses, yet still get surprised by the reveal.
The festive touches that are sprinkled throughout the story are really fun and creative. This book would be entertaining anytime of the year but would be especially fun to read during the Spooky Season.
The book ends with a few really easy but yummy recipes that make perfect reading snacks.
I loved Killer Candy Corn! It has tricks and treats and everything a cozy reader wants from Halloween.
I'm looking forward to more from this series.
I received an advance reader copy of this book prior to publication. This did not influence my voluntary review.
In this book, Paige finds a store owner dead in a vat of candy in his shop. And then there's a missing dress from the museum. Meantime, a famous ghost hunter is filming in Paige's shop.
When the daughter of the murdered man asks the Dining Club to investigate his death, Paige and the others are right there,
I've really been enjoying this series. Like the previous book, this has great, sometimes quirky characters, a solid mystery and story-line, a lovely setting and delightful relationships between the characters. The mystery was a solid one, and there were twists and turns along the way that made it hard to figure out who-dun-it.
Only one thing took this down from a 5 star rating - the massive overuse of catch phrases, particularly "as if", "as though", "like", and other things used to "explain" things. This happened in practically every paragraph or so. This a particular hot button for me - I dislike this style. Used sparingly, these types of phrases are fine, but the overuse has me constantly rolling my eyes. I feel like readers have enough imagination to visualize what's being talked about without it being "explained". I don't recall this being so bad in previous books in the series.
Others may not be bothered by it. If you aren't, consider this a 5 star rating. Other than that, I really enjoyed the book! Hoping these phrases are used less in book 5.

Amelia Pine’s KILLER CANDYCORN is smart, funny, and surprisingly sneaky! It keeps you guessing while making you laugh. The mystery is clever but what really makes the book shine are the characters and the small-town quirks that Pine captures so perfectly in her Sea Glass Beach series. Everyone feels delightfully human, with their odd habits, little secrets, and just enough charm (or chaos) to make you care. Pine’s writing is sharp, warm, and completely engaging, full of wit and keen observations that make the town feel alive. This isn’t just a whodunit—it’s a funny, well-written, and endlessly enjoyable ride from start to finish. Bottom line: Quirky characters, clever twists, and a vividly alive small-town setting make this story funny, smart, and impossible to put down. Sharp, warm, and endlessly entertaining, it sticks with you long after the last page. KILLER CANDYCORN is part of the Sea Glass Beach series but can easily be read as a stand-alone. I received a free advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Killer Candy Corn is the fourth in the “A Sea Glass Beach Mystery” series and it was my first opportunity to meet Paige Andrews and her merry dining club friends. I felt I missed a little of the run up on the dining club and will go back and catch up. I really enjoyed the character development of the dining club and especially loved the antics Kevin got up to. Amelia Pine does an excellent job of making you feel are in the midst of the town and the mystery. A number of good twists and red herrings. The product design was fascinating and you could tell the author knew her details. Coming in without books 1-3, I felt Milo was more developed prior to being cooked along with the candy corn. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest review.
I really enjoyed this fourth entry in the Sea Glass Beach series. The writing style was punchier than previous entries, and chapters were briskly paced with amusing characters and ghostly developments. I wasn’t sure I’d like more supernatural exploration of the hat shop but I ended up thinking it was well done and interesting both for characterization and plot. The main mystery was twisty and I thought the suspects were all capable of the crimes. Didn’t guess correctly who it was and that's part of the fun. That and all the cozy food. And Kevin my beloved surfer pool man…
This is cozy murder mystery with a wonderful cast of amateur detectives. The Beachside Dining Club is a group of friends I wish could join. All the food in the book sounds absolutely amazing!
It is Halloween at Sea Glass Beach and of course a dead body is a must for the spooky season. Paige, Linda, Ethan, Kevin, and Abby are given not just one murder solve, but also thefts and a possible ghost haunting.
Thankfully the recipes in the book don’t actually call for candy corn, but they look and sound as delicious and cozy as Killer Candy Corn by Amelia Pine is to read.

This was such a good mystery read. I love Paige and the dining club gang, they are so much fun. Lots of twists and turns, I was sure I knew who the killer was but then nope! here came another suspect. I enjoy books like these, where I don't figure it all out by the middle of the book. I'd love to visit Sea Glass Beach - I can picture my friends and I running around, getting in trouble, just enjoying life! This is a very good series, set in a beautiful spot (pictured in my mind) with interesting characters and lots of fun.

This starts off with a heartbreaker. Milo, a staple of the candy community is found dead by Paige!!! Who would do such a horrific, despicable deed??? Paige starts sleuthing and finds something from the past. How is it connected? The ghost keeps prompting Paige and seems helpful. I suspected the most obvious person (or so I thought), and I was dead wrong. This was a highly enjoyable and entertaining read with suspense and magic when you least expect it. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest review.

Can the Beachside Dining Club solve it before the police - clues found in the strangest places - Oh! Did I mention a Vintage Original Movie Witch Costume disappears from the museum too!
Paige discovers a body in a vat of cooking candy corn and becomes suspect only because she discovered the body. She starts questioning people from Milo Love's world. During her investigation she has a few times where she barely escapes danger. This book is sweetened with laughter and hijinx. I liked the characters and the town of Sea Glass Beach sounds delightful.
Paige Andrews is horrified to find a dead body . Her friends help her to investigate the murder and they find that there is more than meets the eye. Lots of suspense and humour in this intriguing read. I received this ARC copy via Booksirans and recommend this book to other readers.
This was a first for me by this author and I thought it was the perfect book to end September with. Great book to start my favorite holiday season. Such a cute read that left me wanting to keep reading.

I’m enjoyed this cozy Halloween-themed mystery. The characters are likable and their relationships and personalities were explained well enough that I was able to read this as a standalone without being lost.
Paige Andrews is shocked and horrified to find a dead body in a sweetly horrible manner. With the help of her friends she investigates the murder and they find that there is more than meets the eye in this story. With the backdrop of this story being Halloween this is a perfect book for the current season, (review posted in October), there is suspense and humour in this interesting and intriguing read.
