Apple of My Eye

Rate this book
She doesn’t have time for love. He’s waiting for her anyway.

Daisy: I’ve held my family together—saving our struggling apple orchard, raising my younger sisters, and protecting the only home we have left after tragedy stole everything else.

Love was never part of the plan. Especially not with Knox—the steady, sinfully handsome cowboy who looks at me like I already belong to him.

But one vulnerable night changes everything. We make rules. Keep our relationship secret.

No complications. No feelings. No falling in love.

Until danger finds my family… and the life I’ve fought so hard to protect starts slipping through my fingers.

Now the only person I can turn to is the man I swore I’d never need.

KNOX: I’ve survived war, loss, and demons that still haunt me—but loving Daisy Wylde has always been the hardest battle.

She thinks she has to carry the world alone. That needing someone makes her weak. So I take what she’ll give me—stolen glances, hidden touches, secret moments where I can pretend she’s mine. For her, I told myself it was enough.

Then someone threatens her home, her family, and their safety.

Despite her rules, I’ll stand guard between her and anything that tries to take her down. And when the dust settles? She’ll finally understand what I’ve known all along—

She was always mine.

Apple of My Eye is book three in the Alphas Fall Hard Series by Zee Irwin. Daisy, after the death of her parents, stepped up to look after the family apple orchard and her younger sisters and was not looking for love. However, Knox Alexander had other ideas. When Daisy needed help, he stepped up and provided the support and security she needed. Will Knox break through Daisy’s barriers to open her heart for love? Readers of Apple of My Eye will continue to follow Daisy and Knox to discover what happens.

Apple of My Eye is an excellent addition to the Alphas Fall Hard Series by Zee Irwin. I understand the problems of running a small rural business. I also realise that corruption can happen anywhere and destroy families and communities in the process. I engaged with the book from the first page and continued to the end.

How to Apple of My Eye, by Zee Irwin, is well-written and well-researched. I love Zee Irwin's writing style and the way she portrays her characters and their interactions throughout this book. I feel part of the book's setting because of the way Zee Irwin describes it.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I recommend this book

**Comfy Read!**

*Apple of My Eye* is the third book in the *Alpha’s Fall Hard* series. I absolutely devoured every part of Daisy and Knox's love story. I’m a total sucker for the whole black cat/golden retriever dynamic, especially when it involves friends-to-lovers, where he falls first and harder, coupled with mystery and suspense. The intense chemistry between Daisy and Knox was truly warm and heartfelt.

As the oldest Wylde sister, Daisy has taken on the immense pressure of managing the Apple Orchard since her parents' passing. She also has to deal with her ex-boyfriend, which adds to her challenges. Watching Daisy slowly let down her walls with Knox was beautiful; he was so patient and supportive, never rushing her. When past dangers start to threaten Daisy again, Knox's protective instincts kick in, and nothing will stop him from finding his woman.

Zee truly outdid herself with Knox and Daisy's slow-burning romance. This series just keeps getting better and better. The character and world development is fantastic, as each book is a standalone featuring different couples; however, they are all well interconnected. I love getting glimpses of past and future couples in Zee's books—they are true cozy, comfy must-reads!

A cozy read with just the right amount of mystery, perfect for fall vibes. Knox, the ex-military turned cowboy, falls first and harder, and his charm is undeniable. Daisy, the grumpy oldest sibling, is focused on taking care of her sisters while still healing from past trauma. The drama and mystery are on the mild side and fairly easy to figure out, but it’s the sweet chemistry and slow-burning heat between these two that truly carry the story. It’s an easy, heartwarming read. Ideal for when you need a change of pace.

Thank you to the author & Booksprout for this ARC opportunity.

The slowburn story of the eldest Wylde sister and the patient man waiting for her to realize she is his. Daisy’s life turned into one of responsibility after a tragic family loss. She doesn’t have time for love. Enter a strong persistent and hot Off-Duty Rescue Ranch cowboy. Loved how their journey naturally unfolded. Knox and his patience was so sweet. Daisy and Knox’s chemistry was sizzling. Add some danger, suspense with revelations and you have a read you can’t put down. I do recommend reading the other stories interconnected with this one to enhance enjoyment. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Great addition to this series with a peek into the next book. Can’t wait!

It was totally swoon-worthy how Knox has been pining over Daisy all these years; you couldn't help but root for them. Daisy is all work and no play, while Knox shows up helping any way she'll let him. He is an absolute sweetheart, showing extreme patience especially while trying to break down the walls Daisy has built trying to prove she can handle anything.

Together they make the ultimate dream team, but Daisy is not ready to give in just yet. The will-they-or-won't-they was absolutely addictive, and the mystery around suspicious deaths and stalker added a great layer of intrigue. The witty humor, push-and-pull, and extremely spicy moments kept me on the edge of my seat.

Apple of My Eye is the kind of romance that wraps around you slowly, the way a small‑town sunset settles over an orchard. Daisy is a heroine you feel for immediately shouldering the weight of her family’s land, raising her sisters, and trying to keep a legacy alive with nothing but grit and heart. She’s so used to being the strong one that she’s forgotten what it feels like to lean on someone else.

Enter Knox.

Knox is steady in a way that makes your chest ache. A military hero with shadows of his own, he’s been quietly in love with Daisy for years, waiting for her to see him the way he’s always seen her. Their friends‑with‑benefits arrangement starts as a way to keep things simple, but nothing about the way Knox looks at Daisy is simple. He treats her like she’s precious, even when she’s determined to pretend she doesn’t need anyone.

The slow burn between them is beautifully done. Their secret moments feel intimate and real, full of longing and unspoken emotion. And when danger threatens Daisy’s family and the orchard, she’s fought so hard to protect, Knox steps in without hesitation. Not because she asks—she never does—but because loving her has always been the truest thing he knows.

What makes this story shine is how deeply personal their connection feels. Daisy’s journey toward letting herself be loved is tender and raw, and Knox’s quiet devotion is the kind of love story that stays with you. The small‑town setting, the family bonds, the sense of history rooted in the land—it all adds richness to a romance that’s both heartfelt and deeply satisfying.

If you love protective cowboys, strong heroines learning to trust, and slow‑building love that hits you right in the chest, Apple of My Eye is a beautiful, emotional read that delivers every bit of its promise.

This book about Daisy and Knox rocks . How could she resist his charms and not fall into his arms? She is going to be his ,he’s sure of this as apples is apples he is…What an awesome storyline this is. It’s a divine ,she will be mine and found family trope because for Daisy, Knox is dope.

Daisy has risen from the ashes of her family’s despair ,tragedy upon tragedy resides there . Her and her siblings are all that’s left except for the dwindling funds for their family’s orchard. She is their protector, her younger sisters . But who is hers? Who cares when she doesn’t know up from down and her troubles are weighing her down more than any apple barrel can.

Knox is a man of few words but his actions speak up louder. He’s not a crowd pleaser ,he’s one on his own. But with Daisy on his arm and in his bed ,it’d be enough said.. When trouble comes calling ,he’s ready to guard them with his life. He’s taking what she can give for want of him needing her to be his wife. But settle he must or in he she must learn to trust.

She thinks she can carry her burden herself. But Ms Wylder has another thing coming ,from the veteran soldier who is not giving in. Immersive and explosive . Delightfully so. Well it’s by Zee Irwin so …You know how it is with this delightfully talented author. She has her fingers on the pulse of swoon worthy characters who spark against one another until they’re like friends you wish well. And the storytelling is of course compelling and hot as hell. With lots of banter she does well.

Daisy is a feisty farrier and the oldest of four sisters, and ever since their parents passed, she’s been carrying everything on her shoulders—the family, the apple orchard, all of it. She’s tough, capable, and used to doing it all on her own. Then there’s Knox, a military vet turned ranch hand at the nearby Off-Duty Rescue Ranch, who pretty much knows from the start that Daisy is it for him… she just needs a little convincing.

This one features some slow burn—and wow, the tension between them is so good. There’s a lot of push and pull as Daisy resists letting anyone in, even though the chemistry is undeniable. Things really pick up when her life is put in danger, and suddenly all that hesitation goes out the window. It’s one of those moments where everything clicks, and they both realize they’re done wasting time. Plus, I loved the message that you don’t have to carry everything alone—Daisy might be strong on her own, but she’s even better with Knox by her side.

I’ve read a few books by this author now, and I always enjoy how she lets her stories unfold at their own pace. There’s a bit of suspense woven in here too—which might not be the most original plot-wise—but the characters and the writing totally bring it to life.

Daisy has taken over the family responsibilities after the deaths of her parents, to the exclusion of everything else. Her life revolves around the family orchard business and her sisters. Love and relationship are definitely not in her immediate or agenda.
Knox works at ODRR and is certainly focused on the aloof farrier that he has is his sights. Parience is deep rooted despite his frustration. He goes out of his way to show how committed he would be, despite her brash outbursts and rough comments. Time is needed and he is willjng to wait..but the question is for how long, if at all, but he stays around
"I thought a relationship would be too much for me to handle. And I carried guilt and grief, and secrets as my greatest burdens in life. But Knox had been there at every turn, not a man to fear, but a man to trust. Someone to count on because when he gave his word, it meant something. We shared a bond now. A love so true. I couldn’t possibly walk away from that."

On a side note, unfortunately the anonymous town gossip column is being abandoned and the writer doesn't seem to be revealed. Shame!
We are also introduced to a new individual, who seems to have come to town bringing his own problems. Oooh!

Love this author....

Apple Of My Eye by Zee Irwin is the third title in the author's Alphas Fall Hard series and it was a great read.
As a small town, friends to lovers, cowboy romance the plot and storyline had me hooked from the start especially with the engaging and likeable main characters of Daisy and Knox.
With the added intrigue, stalker and suspense elements as well as the progression of Daisy and Knox's relationship from neighbours to friends, to friend with benefits, and eventually to lovers, the journey they navigated was sweet and endearing. We see Daisy struggle with the boundaries she'd set herself to fulfil the responsibilities she sees she has to her family and the farm and Knox and his pining and patience to win over Daisy.
The small town feel with family, friends neighbours as supporting characters was cosy and added some feel good emotions and amusing moments to the well crafted story. Both main characters were strong yet endearing as well as realistic and their evident chemistry provided some steamy and entertaining scenes as the story progressed and concluded with a thoroughly satisfying HEA.

Off Duty Rescue Ranch

Knox has spent a long time trying to get farrier/apple orchard owner Daisy Wylde to let him in. He decides to try to be her friend hoping to gain her trust. Daisy has been struggling with the weight of the world on her shoulders after the death of her parents. Struggling to make sure her sisters make their way in the world while trying to make their parents apple orchard a success in addition to farrier clients.

I loved their story. Knox was such a sexy devoted protector who was willing to do anything for Daisy. Daisy was struggling but wanted to do it on her own. Her past and secrets she’s held to protect her family have her heart locked down. Knox was perfect trying to gain her trust by not pushing her but just always showing up for her. Daisy was a feisty strong female lead who would fight anyone to protect those she loved.

The progression of their relationship is touching, beautiful and emotional. I was flying through the pages and on the edge with the suspense element.

I read this in one day because I just couldn’t put it down. Sage meeting Carter for the next book and my anticipation has grown after reading the epilogue! Can’t wait!

This is a wonderfully entertaining story that had me pushing aside my need to sleep to finish it in the early morning hours! I loved reading Apple of My Eye which is book 3 in the Alphas Fall Hard Collection by Zee Irwin.

This is such a charming love story featuring Daisy and Knox. I truly appreciated the twist of Daisy being the grump with the hard core stance of no time for relationships as she tries to control everything and everyone around her. Knox being the one cowboy/protector with the patience to navigate (over a year) through all of the barriers Daisy built to show her that he is the one person who sees her and will be her partner in all the ways she needs.

You add in the mystery, suspense, grief, humor, strong family and found family bonds, the insightfully funny anonymous "Forest Grove Gossip Gal" columnist, the slow burn attraction that adds the right amount of spice, and you get a great story!

Thank you to Zee Irwin for the free copy and I'm voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This one’s a rollercoaster of slow-burning tension—and, wow, the chemistry between them just ignites the page. It’s a fierce battle of push and pull, with Daisy desperately trying to shut everyone out, even as the sparks fly uncontrollably between them. And then, when her world is shattered and her life is hanging in the balance, everything shifts in an instant. That moment hits hard—and it’s like everything finally aligns. They both realise they’ve been wasting precious time, and the stakes become impossibly real. I love the powerful message that no one should have to carry their burdens alone—Daisy’s strength shines on her own, but with Knox by her side, she’s unstoppable.

There’s a suspenseful edge woven through this tale—maybe not the most groundbreaking plotline, but the heart and soul of the characters, and her evocative writing, breathe life into every page. It’s like you can feel the depth of their emotions and the passion that drives them, making every twist and turn utterly compelling.

This book had me in every emotion available to me at one point or another during it. I couldn’t stop myself from turning the page, reading the next chapter - until I was out of story. We had mystery and intrigue and heat and everything else in between. Knox is a gruff guy but when he cares it’s hard and deep. Which is exactly how he feels about Daisy. And Daisy is one seriously strong and determined individual. She carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. Watching Knox support her and try to take some of the burden from her was so endearing. He is a protector through and through. Their connection and chemistry is strong and deep, even if she tries to deny it as long as she does. The way the characters all connect and interact with each other is interesting and had me truly invested in the story of each and every character in the book. And the ending of the book wrapped things up in such a way I couldn’t help but feel satisfied with. It was a perfect way to end the story and it was so very Knox and Daisy.

Yet another bullseye in Zee Irwin’s ODRR series.
Daisy has been the apple of Knox eye for over a year but in true black cat/golden retriever fashion she is reluctant to give in to the charming and adorable cowboy hero.
Their love story is hard work and at times I found Daisy a bit too grumpy and harsh, but that’s likely more to do with my personal preference than reality book style. Their love story is truly epic and the HEA is so worth it.
We also delve deeper into the mysteries of Silver county and the town of Forest Grove and some shocking events come to light. The suspense thickens and some scenes make you gasp and hold your breath along with the characters.
Zee Irwin’s writing is on point!! Everything is so well written and engaging, it completely draws you in and makes the book impossible to put down. The expertly written pining and spice is well curated and placed perfectly in accordance to the flow of their romance.
Highly recommend!.

I absolutely loved how Knox Alexander, former military now cowboy on the Off-Duty Rescue Ranch, starts this book off by relating that there’s plenty of things he should be doing but he’s sitting there at cowboy church because of Daisy Wylde. From there he makes it clear just how bad he has it for the red-headed, independent, overworked, carries-everything-on-her-own-shoulders horse farrier Daisy Wylde even though she doesn’t seem to have the time for him. But he’s going to show up every time and Daisy is going to need him more often than she will want to admit.
This he falls first and hard slow burn romance with a little bit of suspense and a lot of family and friends showing up small town delight grabbed me from the first sentence with its witty banter and there was no way I was stopping until the end. Once again, another fabulous Zee Irwin addition to the Alphas Fall Hard series with a cross reference to the Off-Duty Rescue Ranch series too.

Book 3 in this series is a good read, and I found myself head over boots for Knox, and how hard he fell for Daisy all those years ago. After his military service, he's returned to see if their chemistry is still viable. Spoiler - it is, but it's going to take some time for her to accept and embrace it.

Daisy (as the older sister) has had a lot to manage, both the Apple Orchard and her spirited sisters, all while handling her own past trauma. Understandable that she keeps high walls around her heart.

Knox is all in, and wildly attracted to her black cat attitude, and while this has a little less danger/drama than the others, it was still very enjoyable to be alon on their HEA journey.
He is adorable, and exactly what she needs, and I enjoyed my read.
I suggest reading in order for the best experience with the inhabitants in this town and on this ranch. I can't wait for the next one!!

Well the Off Duty Rescue Ranch, ODRR, has again given us a great story through Zee Irwin! The sisters are still struggling to keep their heads above water with Daisy leading the charge. The apples are ready to be picked, an old nemesis is back in town and that cowboy is still staring at Daisy. Knox may be a tough military man but he seems to wear his ❤️ on his sleeve for Ms Daisy and he’s Always there when she needs him. With everyone rooting for this relationship, Knox just stays the course and hopes that Daisy will truly see him and how he feels about her. When things start to get dangerous, the ODRR men rally to protect the community and Operation Daisy takes shape. Will Daisy give in or shut down like she has in the past? Will the sisters and Sheriff Patrick get the answers that they need to put the past to rest? Danger, stalkers, apples, a cozy cottage and a cowboy hat all intertwine to produce an amazing story. Grab it and prepare not to put it down. I can’t wait for the next ODRR book!

I found myself hooked on these characters and hoping for Daisy and Knox to get to a HEA. Both Daisy and Knox are very hard-working. After Daisy’s parents died, she raised her younger sisters, became her small Montana community’s farrier and struggled to keep the family orchard business alive. Knox is ex-military and a protector-at-heart. He’s a cowboy now, working with his brothers at the neighboring Off-Duty Rescue Ranch. Knox is crazy about Daisy, although she can’t afford to drop her barriers long enough to be vulnerable with him. Their story has well-written dual points of view. Daisy, Knox and their community all felt extremely genuine. This book has some adult heat, as well as some suspense when a stalker from Daisy’s past reappeared. I really enjoyed this book (read as a stand-alone) and will definitely be grabbing the rest of this series! I received an advance copy and am leaving this review voluntarily.

In this installment of the ODRR series, we have Knox, ex-military, alpha. There is a whole lot to like about Knox. He is all man.
Daisy has the weight of the world on her shoulders. Since her parents' death, she has kept the orchard business going, keeps her eyes on the finances and keeps a lot inside. She is independent, untrusting and closed off. When she starts studying her father's business and personal journals, she sees something is off and starts questioning a few things including the death of her parents.
There is mystery, suspense and intrigue in this story. Knox wants to be there for her (in a few ways) but knows he needs to take it at Daisy's pace, which he is willing to do. When they do come together, it's very good. They have good chemistry and you feel the slow burn then the explosion. The evil characters in the story are so easy to strongly dislike.
This book is well written and kept me engaged. I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to read this ARC.

I have not read the other books in this series but I didn't need to in order to jump right in to this sweet and spicy small town romance.

True to the other wonderful books written by Zee Irwin, this book draws you in with its characters first. I loved the character of Knox. He is all man but sweet in the center. He knows how to treat a woman and still leave her space to set the pace for what she is ready for. Who doesn't love a sexy cowboy?

I enjoyed the friends to lovers trope as it is my favorite and this one does not disappoint. Experiencing the growth and the opening up of Daisy was inspiring to read.

I enjoyed the plot and the way that these two worked together to solve their issues. Knox's protective instinct is enough to swoon over!

You can read this as a stand alone but I'm going back to the others because I'm in love with this author's talent to give us wonderful characters that you want to move next door to and hang out with!

Daisy is a feisty farrier and the oldest of four sisters, carrying the weight of her family and the apple orchard since their parents passed. Tough and independent, she’s used to doing everything alone.
Knox, a military vet now working at Off-Duty Rescue Ranch, knows from the start that Daisy is his forever—he just has to convince her.
This slow-burn romance is packed with delicious tension and push-pull as Daisy fights the undeniable chemistry. When her life is suddenly in danger, everything changes. No more hesitation—they both realize they’re done wasting time.
A heartfelt story about not having to carry everything alone. Strong characters, great writing, and just the right touch of suspense make this another winner from the author.

Overall, I enjoyed the story's heavy weight of emotions and responsibility, fun and teasing moments, suspence, changes, decisions, friends, and romance.
In this story, I like hard work, but not overworking to the point of physical and mental exhaustion or sacrificing everything, as the heroine does. If one offers to share the burden, one should take them up on it. It's great the way the hero relentlessly keeps showing up, offering support, and is not so easy to get rid of because there's something special between the protagonists. Persistence, devotion, not giving up in these conditions, is attractive.

Gossiping about things said in private is very concerning, like there are listening devices. It wouldn't be nice to share information about one's own sister.

A slow burn romance between the eldest of the Orchard and a ranch hand of ODDR. They have been circling each other for awhile.
She draws him in then pushes him away.
After awhile he gets to go on a date with him but after the date she gets a call from her sister and someone broke into their house. They only thing they grabbed was their Dad's journals. But did they mean to grab her journal with evidence against the mayor's son.
Or is it about the previous Sheriff's murder.
She was followed then found a note on her vehicle.
Her birthday party is epic.

Knox tries to keep her safe. Will he find her before it is too late? Will everyone be ok after the danger passes?
Find out.
The mayor's son is mentally unstable. Who thinks like that? No one owes anyone to be there's just because they are rich.

I voluntarily reviewed "APPLE OF MY EYE" I thoroughly enjoyed this interesting, intriguing, humorous journey with some suspense, danger, angst, secrets, mystery, steam, you can't stop reading.
Knox is ex-military now working on the Off Duty Rescue Ranch, he's lived through war & still healing from past ghosts.
Daisy is strong, feisty, oldest of four sisters after her parents passed trying to keep the family orchard functioning.
Knox & Daisy the banter between these two she trys hard not to have feelings but their chemistry is undeniable & he feels she it for him.
Daisy's life us put in danger & Knox won't let anyone hurt her or her sisters, theres a little suspense will they survive to get a HEA hopefulky getting who's after Daisy its a must read you don't want to miss for sure.

This book was a very easy short read that kept me so immersed in the story that I didn't put it down once I started. I loved the characters, the FMC was trying to take care of her sisters, the ranch and everything in between after their parents died..she felt like she would seem weak if she asked for help or accepted it..and well here enters MMC who of course is one of the helping ranch hands and he does everything and anything to prove to her that she is deserving. A bunch of things happen (can't spoil the story). But I loved the way everything just worked out at the end. Would definitely recommend if you love small town romance books. Daisy the oldest siblings of the Wylde ‘s Sisters, she had to take care of her younger sisters after their parents died.
She and Knox both liked each other circling around each other of walls and careful distance two steps forward and three back.
one night she drank more than she could and he took her to her place , she asked him to make something new but he refused because he thought when she woke up she regretted it.
He was always by her side but , she said she didn’t want a serious relationship because of her sisters,he couldn’t stop caring for her and he couldn’t stop himself running after her.
She found her father’s journal , there she found things that she can be in danger.

Another story that I really liked,
I highly recommended to read

Apple of my Eye is absolutely magnificent. Knox and Daisy have quite the thing going—even though Daisy won’t admit it out loud. I adore Knox and his unwavering devotion to this strong, stubborn, and brave woman who has survived so much. I love that he sees her and stands beside her no matter what, respecting her space and timing while continuously showing up for her. Daisy is ridiculously stubborn and has walls higher than Fort Knox—but he is just what she needs and it shines through. The overarching series plot takes some fascinating twists, and the action and suspense with the mystery thrown in are quite delightful. This is a great read!.

Absolutely adored Book 3 of this series! Daisy is a total spitfire—strong, stubborn, and fiercely devoted to the three sisters she’s raised since their parents’ death, all while keeping their apple orchard alive. Knox, the handsome ex‑military cowboy with a heart that beats only for her, waits with quiet patience for the moment she finally lets herself breathe.

But relaxing isn’t an option when danger keeps closing in. The suspense is constant, the tension delicious, and the chemistry between Daisy and Knox sizzles on every page. I could not put this one down. Zee, you knocked it out of the park again!.
