Snowed in with my grumpy, tattooed ex? This Christmas just got complicated.
Grayson Seven years ago, I lost her to a lie. I was the soldier who came home to nothing—except memories of the girl I never got to love. Kaitlyn was sunshine and fire. She believed in me until a cruel lie sent her running, and I went to war with more regrets than gear. I never stopped loving her. Now she’s back, for Christmas, for her best friend’s wedding, and for the first time in seven years, and I’m not the man I was back then. I’ve got scars, tattoos, and a plan. She’s beautiful, confident, and still the only woman who I’ve ever loved. She thinks she’s just here for her best friend’s wedding. What she doesn’t know? I’m going to make her fall in love with me all over again. This time, I’m not walking away.
Kaitlyn Second chances don’t come wrapped in camo and tattoos. Unless you’re me… and your ex is Grayson-freaking-Walker. We had a moment—right before everything imploded thanks to my stepsister’s lies. I left for college. He left for deployment. End of story. Until I come back to home for my best friend’s wedding and he’s standing there like a walking, talking regret. Only now? He’s not just sexy—he’s relentless. And I don’t know if I’m strong enough to walk away twice.

Kaitlyn is coming home for Christmas for her best friends wedding where she meets Grayson again. They used to be close but a lie from Kaitlyn’s stepsister tore them apart. Now that they know it was a lie it’s their second chance. This is a well written story with a really bad stepmother and stepsister. Almost a retelling of Cinderella but Kaitlyn is so much stronger than Cinderella ever was. I loved this story, sweet, steamy and funny. Loved Gray and Kaitlyn. Great read.

This was a short, sweet and steamy read. Grayson is trying his best to get his second chance at love with Kaitlyn. He doesn’t know that she has a wicked stepmother and step sister until things are said to her and he takes care of it for her. One of the best books I’ve read so far this year
Getting a second chance at the love for the person you thought you had lost. Years later, an opportunity is back and you have a chance to get her back, but there are always other things, people who are intent on making others as unhappy as they are. A beautiful story about true love, and second chances.
***Spoilers Ahead*** The book started out solid as a second-chance romance. The heroine, Kaitlyn, ran into her ex boyfriend, Grayson (because approximately 75% of fictional heroes have names that end in “son” or “on”) and Grayson looks even better than when they were younger and in love. There’s a strong attraction there, and a good amount of chemistry. The secondary plot is also solid, featuring a horrible stepmonster and evil stepsister (whose son is apparently the spawn of the devil) and a resultant strain in the relationship between father and daughter. Kaitlyn is back in her hometown to be a maid of honor, and has to face the echoes of her past. Kaitlyn ‘s dad is willfully oblivious to the way his wife and stepdaughter treat Kaitlyn. Grayson and Kaitlyn still have sparks. Then it gets over the top, and not in a good way. Grayson is a billionaire, because of course he is. Kaitlyn’s step nephew destroys something that belonged to Kaitlyn’s late mother, because he is evil donchaknow. And I hope that Kaitlyn’s father really is willfully ignorant, because if he were really that clueless, the man would be TSTL. Because daddy dearest is convinced that Kaitlyn needs a mother figure, and doesn’t seem to connect the Steps with the fact that Kaitlyn has always refused to visit her hometown. And stepsister accuses Grayson of fathering her son (which, of course, Kaitlyn chooses to believe even though stepsister couldn’t express the truth even with hand puppets). At the ending, everybody gathered together to hold hands and sing Kumbaya. Well, not quite, but everything was wrapped up in a nice package with a bow. Billionaire and father change their lives completely in order to get back into Mary Sue’s- I mean Kaitlyn’s- good graces. It was just too precious. And they find out that the stepmonster is extra Ebil. The author uses commas like he/she/they is playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey, which I know can be fixed, but they were exceptionally distracting. I resent that I wasted nearly two hours of my time on this uninspired, ridiculous book. I don’t understand how the author, whose work I have enjoyed in the past, could have produced this.

'Two weeks. That's more than enough time to win her over. I have a lot of details to work out, but at least now, I have a chance.'
'I have Mom's journal, and one of my favorite quotes in it says, you’ll always regret the chances you didn't take. I don't want to live with regrets.'
I loved this book. It was such a sweet, second chance romance for two people separated by one cruel and selfish stepsister's lies that kept them apart for seven years. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Grayson and mostly liked Kaitlyn. lol The chemistry was still there, and the flirty banter cute. Gray was determined to win her back.
I really liked Kaitlyn's dad, but wished from the start she'd been honest with him about what her stepsister did to her, not just keep to secret because he found happiness with his second wife after they lost her mom. You could tell he was a good dad, and I would have wanted to know if my child had been intentionally hurt by my partner's child- especially because they were now family. Now it's like he has blinders on and doesn't see how she's treated. I think honesty from the start would have made a big difference.
I also hated the fact that Kaitlyn initially was upset thinking Gray had slept with her stepsister because he knew how badly Linda treated her- but then why believe Linda in the first place? She should have believed nothing until she could get in contact with Gray and speak to him herself. But then, people make stupid emotional decisions all the time. And of course I'm all in for the drama from the horrible step family members even if I was sad for Kaitlyn's pain. And then angry at her for believing lies again!
'Only this time, there’s nothing that will push me away from being at Kaitlyn's side through it all. I'm not the same shy boy I was seven years ago. Nothing will keep me from Kaitlyn, and I’ll destroy anyone who tries to, especially Linda. Though, I don't use my money very often, but with money, comes power, and when it comes to Kaitlyn, I will use that power to protect her.'
Kaitlyn is pretty much living a semi fairytale life. Her stepmom is horrible, as is her stepsister, Linda, who slept with the guy Kaitlyn was dating. So they broke up. But, they make her father happy. The moment she could, Kaitlyn took the first train out of Bonnetville, Kentucky, which is just outside of the Fort Knox Army base. For the first time in 7 years, she is returning home for Christmas because her bestie is getting married and she is the maid of honor. Kaitlyn works with Lexi & Noah who run the Oakside Military Rehab Home near Savannah, Georgia. They do so much good there, and most of the patients end up staying on and working there afterwards. Grayson, was the guy she had been with when Linda destroyed the relationship. But, she knows she will probably see him for Dana’s wedding. Grayson swears that he never touched Linda. Kait has had a semi hard life with her past and the family her father made after her mother’s death. After lunching with her father, she sees Grayson again and they catch up.
I wholeheartedly agree that her stepmom, Linda and Linda’s son Zion are pieces of work and a nightmare. Sheesh. They gave me heartburn. I needed the AC on from being so angry and from the steaminess that is Gray & Kait on the page lol even when they are just talking, sparks fly. There are some curveballs, but in the end, Gray & Kait talk. Kait’s dad just doesn’t see how his new family treats Kait. It boggled the mind on that one, until things get really bad. I ended up chewing on my nails too. The book is fun, funny, sweet, romantic, aggravating, steamy, interesting and a bunch of other things. I loved the ending. I can’t wait to see more.

Kaci delivers a family drama intense, second chance (both romantic and family) that had me hooked from chapter one. Kaitlyn and Grayson had the starts of something years ago, but a lie stopped everything in its tracks. And Kaitlyn high tailed it out of her hometown as fast as she could and never returned. Except her best friend is getting married, and she's the maid of honour so despite her reservations of coming home she heads back as a best friend would. Only she wasn't expecting to bump into her old crush all grown up the first day back. Grayson has wanted Kaitlyn for years, has learned all he can about her from her Dad and looked on from a far. He's got two weeks to get her on the same page as him and win her heart. He's determined, loving and the perfect book boyfriend - you're cheering them on from the very start. Together their amazing, and to see Kaitlyn have a bit of a confidence boost to face some issues head on and call them out after years of pushing her feelings down had me fist bumping the air. I loved that she was able to confront, and have the support of Grayson who was her backup not voice.

5 stars I loved the chemistry between Grayson and Kaitlyn and throughly enjoyed their story.
Kaitlyn does not like going home at all but especially not for Christmas. Her stepsister, Linda, is horrible and her stepmother, Helen, is just as bad. It has been seven years since Kaitlyn has been home to Bonnetville, Kentucky, a small town just outside the Fort Knox Army base. Her best friend, Dana, is getting married on Christmas Eve and Kaitlyn is her maid of honor. Kaitlyn lives in Savannah, Georgia working as a nurse at Oakside Military Rehabilitation Home. They help men and women who have been injured in the line of duty heal.
Her father works at the Army base as a civilian contractor. He has worked there for the last twenty-five years. Kaitlyn is meeting him for lunch. She rented a cabin on the river to avoid staying at the house. Linda is twenty-four now but still lives at home with her son Zion who is about six and a terror. She got pregnant and doesn’t know who the father is and Linda expects everyone to take care of her son for her.
As Kaitlyn pulls up in front of her father’s building, someone calls her name. It is Grayson. Kaitlyn had just started dating him when Linda told her that she slept with him. A week later, Kaitlyn left town early to go to college and Grayson was deployed. Later on, Kaitlyn found out the truth. Grayson was in lockdown prior to deployment so there was no way Linda slept with him. He looks like a real man now versus the nineteen-year old boy that Kaitlyn left behind.
Grayson never stopped loving Kaitlyn and he has the two weeks that she is in town to get her back. I really liked this couple.

Communication and Patience is Important in Relationships - Grayson didn’t think he would ever get a second chance with Kaitlyn after she left him the first time, but the first thing he did when they met again was to ask her out again, as he had never gotten over hi# feelings for her. Even though Kaitlyn was apprehensive about agreeing to go on a date with Grayson, she agreed after a bit of coaxing from her father. Spending time getting to know each other again brought back all their memories and feelings, which led to them rekindling their relationship.
However, Grayson decided to take his time to pursue her and not rush, so she would get comfortable with him, especially as she was dealing with conflict between herself and step family. Unfortunately, Kaitlyn and Grayson’s happiness was disrupted again when the issue that broke them up previously occurred again, but this time it set a chain reaction that changed all in their lives. Luckily, once the problem was resolved, Kaitlyn and Grayson got to have the second chance at a happily ever after they previously missed out on getting.
This was an utterly brilliant story about the main characters journey to a second chance, where they had to overcome their painful past and risk taking another chance on love, so they could secure a happy future. The story captured my attention from the beginning and kept me glued to the pages until the end.

If you’re looking for a heartwarming story about second chances, check out "Coming for His Second Chance" by Kaci Rose, the first book in the charming "Coming for Christmas" series! It tells the story of Kaitlyn and Grayson, who were torn apart seven years ago by a lie started by Kaitlyn’s stepsister. Even though the truth eventually came to light, it was too late for them to rectify the situation.
Now, Kaitlyn is back home for her best friend's Christmas wedding, and it’s Grayson’s chance to win her heart back — after all, he never stopped loving her! Over the next two weeks, they reconnect and rediscover each other. Kaitlyn also spends some quality time with her father, but not everyone is happy about her return. Her stepsister and stepmother are determined to break them apart again, even trying to stir up trouble with another lie. This time, though, Grayson is prepared to stand up for their relationship.
The author does a fantastic job of making Grayson and Kaitlyn relatable as they navigate their way into a more mature relationship, filled with open communication and mutual support for each other. It's heartening to see them strengthen their bond while dealing with family drama fueled by fears and jealousy. The chemistry between them has always been there, and it really shines through, making the story delightful to read. I was completely hooked from start to finish and can’t wait to see where the rest of the series takes us!

Kaitlyn was not looking forward to her upcoming Christmas holiday. She misses her father, but after his remarriage his wife and step-daughter had made her life miserable. Working as a nurse at the Oakside Military Rehabilitation Home has been so fulfilling. She loves her job and her patients who struggle to overcome their injuries. She promised her father that she would be there for Christmas and it was everything that she hoped it wouldn’t be. She knew that meeting Grayson, her ex-boyfriend again, would be difficult and it was. Grayson knew that Kaitlyn would be in town and couldn’t wait to see her. He still loves her and hopes that there will be a chance to reconnect, or maybe something more? The attraction that was between them is still strong…can he show her that he wants to build a life with her? Her step-sister isn’t done interfering and Kaitlyn knows that she can’t remain there and tolerate the hostile interference in their lives. Will he decide that if she can’t return to him, that she and Georgia are where he needs to be? Although a shorter story, the strong characters and their heartfelt emotions made this a truly enjoyable read. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
COMING FOR HIS SECOND CHANCE is part of the multi-authored Coming for Christmas series. It's a short and steamy, instalove, mutual-pining, OTT, curvy girl gets her military man, second-chance, Christmas romance. Kaitlyn is a curvy physical therapist who currently resides in Georgia. She has come home to Kentucky for the first time in 7 years for her friend's wedding. She has never gotten along with her evil stepmother and stepsister, so has avoided coming home. Grayson is a hunky ex-military man who now works as a military contractor in KY where her dad works, as well as oversees his family's company. He and Kaitlyn briefly dated until her stepsister lied about them being involved. Now, when she sees Grayson on the base when visiting her dad, all those feelings come back. Both have never stopped thinking about the other. Grayson is determined to win her over this time, even if she is only there for 2 weeks. These two had hot chemistry. I adored Grayson. I loved Kaitlyn too but didn't like how she handled the last issue, I felt like she didn't give Noah a fair chance. Luckily, it all works out after the drama, giving us a wonderful HEA. I loved it.
⭐️ARC REVIEW⭐️ Coming for His Second Chance by @kaciroseauthor 4.5 ⭐ / 2.5🔥🌶
Coming for His Second Chance is a great, steamy, second chance, fast paced quick read! Grayson and Kaitlyn are explosive from the start. Given their history it makes perfect sense. They never moved on, and how could they when the reason they broke up was from a miscommunication and a lie. Neither have had an easy go at life. Not only is this their second chance at love, but its a huge piece in each of them healing from the hard journey they have both had.
I loved every second of this story well almost every second. I disliked how long it took Kaitlyn’s dad to come to his senses / or stop turning a blind eye. But other than that everything from the first page to the last was great! Even though the Holidays are not quite yet here, this read is the perfect quick read to get you preparing.
I am still very new to Kaci Rose and her work, but I am becoming a huge fan. I cannot wait to add more to my TBR.
Thank you @kaciroseauthor and @instalove_influencers for my ARC.
This is part of a multi author holiday series called Coming for Christmas but it’s also connected to the author’s Oakside Military Heroes series in which injured military veterans are given medical care and a place to convalesce. In this book, Kaitlyn, the FMC is a nurse at Oakside and reconnects with Grayson, an old flame while home for her best friend’s wedding.
Grayson, the MMC was my absolute favorite character, hands down; he’s exactly what I think of when I think of a cinnamon roll hero. To me, he seemed to be much more invested in rekindling their relationship than Kaitlyn was which earned him major bonus points. She was ok, I would just have preferred he have someone equally as invested.
This book is kinda reminiscent of Cinderella’s wicked stepmother and stepsister—trust me, you’ll know exactly what I mean if you read it. With no shortage of steam, this second chance romance was short and sweet and worth the time it takes to read it... not my favorite book by this author but it was nice. 4.25 stars

Another great addition to this multi author collection and another great short story from this talented author. I like the main characters. They have a charming and dignified manner, a friendship that started years ago from a high school liaison. Now they are both successful in their careers. It is lovely to read how easily they slip into a relationship. Kaitlyn's reticence to speak up and challenge her step mother and step sister enabled their behaviour. What was eventually said, could have voiced much earlier..it made her father look weak. He took his time because of playing down everything, which matches him being aware and choosing for years to ignore the behaviours towards his daughter, who he claimed comes first. Grayson's understanding and support was truly generous and genuine. It was encouraging to see how her father was interested and invested in them being a couple. I love it when HEA ending is right for the good guys and the bad ones get their comeuppance.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, ANYTHING from Kaci is an instant click, automatic read! I’ve never been disappointed and I always get so excited when she releases a new book. Even though this was a short, quick read, it was excellent! I loved it. I love a second chance romance and throw in a sexy soldier and I’m sold! My favorite moments were watching Kaitlyn not hide her feelings for Linda. Linda’s kid was a brat and I loved when she demanded Kaitlyn help her clean his mess up and Kaitlyn refused. Then seeing Grayson have her back and how he handled the whole situation Linda caused was terrific! I’m left curious about who the young soldier was that Grayson was talking to in the bonus epilogue. And of course I especially loved seeing Oakside characters, that was my by far my absolute favorite series and if you’re reading this Kaci, PLEASE bring us more injured and wounded soldiers for that series!!!
This book is a part of the Coming for Christmas series and focuses on Grayson and Kaitlyn. Grayson and Kaitlyn had their chance together ripped apart seven years prior thanks to lies spread by her step-sister. When Kaitlyn finally comes back home after all those years away, Grayson is determined to make up for lost time and show her that they belong together. They very quickly discover the connection they had seven years prior wasn’t some passing connection but the real thing. They have some navigating to do between their jobs and family dynamics. I love that Grayson knew that Kaitlyn was his forever and didn’t allow anything to get in the way of their future. This was a great story and a great start to the series.

3.5⭐️ This was a cute, second chance romance of a couple that briefly dated 7 years ago and were then ripped apart by a lie. I personally am not a huge fan of second chance romances, especially when they’re with other people when separated, but this one made sense. I really liked Grayson with how loyal and steady he was, I found it helped ground her. Kaitlyn though frustrated me, as did some of the storyline. She allowed them to be ripped apart twice over even after knowing where the lie was coming from. And I didn’t really understand why he was so hung up on needing a job before moving when he was a billionaire? A few grammatical errors too that made sentences confusing. It was cute, and I am glad they finally got their HEA, even if it took a bit longer. No cheating or OM drama, OW drama, dual POV, HEA and a cute epilogue in the future. Looking forward to more books in this series!
This was quite the intense addition to this multi-author series and I was there for every page! Kaitlyn is back in town for a wedding and Grayson is thrilled to finally, finally, get his second chance with her. These two were separated by lies and he's more than ready to keep that family drama in check. I really love how he backed her up, making her more confident in dealing with her family. I was definitely rooting hard for them to find their way to a fab HEA and the author really delivered. Expect to get caught up in the drama, chemistry, emotions and hot romance as you follow Kaitlyn and Grayson on their journey to a happy ending. So good and I can't wait to check out the next book :D

So it’s a decent story. Grayson and Kaitlyn. I like the concept of the story, a second chance, a bit of a Cinderella story with an evil stepmother/sister. I just thought the writing was just not it. It felt like, like it felt like bullet points of writing. I rushed to finish it. I don’t understand how Kaitlyn would believe her stepsister. Why didn’t her father stick up for her when the “spawn of satan” broke her mother ornament. If your daughter hasn’t come to visit you in 7 years, how are you that blind that your wife and stepdaughter are the issue. Don’t waste your time to read this book, it’s not worth your time.

Second chance romance. Kaitlyn, a young woman, returns to her hometown after several years away following a complicated breakup and a horrible stepmother and stepsister. When she comes to her best friend's wedding, she doesn't expect to run into Grayson, her ex-boyfriend who broke her heart. Grayson is a former military man who took over the family business after returning from the army. When he learns that his ex-girlfriend is back in their hometown, he knows he will do anything to win her back. Even though his stepsister's lies tore them apart years ago, he knows he will not let anything come between them now. Will Kaitlyn and Grayson get a second chance or will the lies tear them apart again…
Kaitlyn's father remarried in order to give his precious daughter a loving mother. Instead, what she got was stepmom and stepsister from hell. This led to teenage years filled with jealousy, lies, bullying, and finally betrayal. Grayson fell in love with Kaitlyn but he falls victim of lies that destroy their relationship before he leaves for the service. Years later they reunite for her friend's Christmastime wedding. He intends to find the truth about what happened between them. When facts come to light about them evil stunt that her stepsister perpetrated on them, will it lead to a future for Grayson and Kaitlyn? Will it destroy her family? What will Grayson be willing to give up in order to keep Kaitlyn in his life? I highly recommend this book.
I do love a visit to Oakside and this (sort of) one was well written, had good strong characters and plenty of connection and chemistry. I really liked how Grayson approached things, he tried to not look back with regret and instead focused on that 'now' was his and Kaitlyn's time to be together. I wanted to hug Kaitlyn and shake her father reading this, I was so pleased that Grayson never gave up on them and that he did everything he could to let her know what she meant to him and this time he wasn't letting anything or anyone come between them.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
On page 78, Kaitlyn tells Grayson 'I would have come back for their funeral. Your parents were always so nice to me.' On page 98 she says to herself 'I had never met his parents or been in this house'. Well, it can't be both, so which is it?
Kaitlyn already figured out the evil step sister was lying years ago, what makes her believe her suddenly now? The dad being so blind to how the evil steps treated Kaitlyn doesn't make sense. She never visits him at home and the evil steps never go when he visits her out of state so how could he possibly have thought having them in her life was beneficial?
Sweet and simple: 3 1/2 ⭐️ This wasn't an overly complex story but about what you'd expect for a novella. Although it was quite short at only 96 pages, it was nevertheless nice seeing Kaitlyn find her HEA as I had enjoyed meeting her in previous Oakside novels. I was glad that Kaitlyn and Grayson got their second chance, but the second act breakup seemed unrealistic. Unfortunately there were a number of inconsistencies and plot errors that hindered me from fully enjoying this story. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
Kaitlyn and Grayson were a couple until her stepsister came between them. Kaitlyn left town, and now seven years later, she's back and neither has forgotten the other. Grayson and Kaitlyn are getting a second chance at love after years apart. The writing is well done, and the characters are well developed. I love how the author brought them back together and how determined he was to win Kaitlyn's heart back. Coming for His Second Chance is a sweet and steamy addition to the multi-author Coming for Christmas series. I look forward to reading the rest of the books. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Christmas time is for happiness, cheer, family, and your best friend’s wedding but you don’t expect to see your ex. Seven yrs ago Grayson lost his love, Kaitlyn to lies by her stepsister. They both have grown and changed and he is determined to win her heart again but will she open her heart a second time…read on to see if they find their HEA…

This was a really good book. I really enjoyed Kaitlyn and Grayson's story. These two were together before but Kaitlyn's stepsister ruins it. This two have longed for each other since then. Kaitlyn comes home after years away and Grayson was there and all those feelings have come back to the surface. Kaitlyn's stepmom and stepsister start their rudeness, disrespect and lies with Kaitlyn. Now that Grayson's knows the truth of what happened, he will stop at nothing to get and keep Kaitlyn.

A wonderfully written second chance at love story, where Kaitlyn comes home for her bestfriend's wedding running into her old boy discovering her step-sister lied to her years ago, about sleeping with him. Both have matured greatly over the years, and they are wiser to step-sister's ways. But will they be able to make a go of it in only two weeks with step-sister still spreading lies? I loved this book.
