This book is literally psychotic. Like AI wrote it after a PCP bender bad. I just… what? I’m so confused. It’s laughably bad. It’s special in that it’s my first one star rating.
I made myself finish this book so I could give it an honest review. It wasn’t easy. There are sooo many inconsistencies in this book it’s like it was written by twenty different people… who didn’t read what was already written. The FMC was in love with a truly horrible man, with no redeeming qualities. Like what in the world did she love about him?? Then over and over and over she is “destroyed” and “broken” and “done” with the marriage, but she keeps going back and going through it all again!
And don’t even get me started on the inconsistencies with her relationship with her daughter. At one point I thought maybe the daughter was a young teen, then maybe quite a bit younger, then find out that she’s probably 9 years old. Like what? Nothing this child does is actually age appropriate, and the adults in her life are just terribly neglectful.
This marriage was founded by deception, yet the FMC thought her husband loved her?! Yet he NEVER treated her well. Just a terrible book, with a totally bizarre storyline that never really went anywhere.
Some discrepancies in the story such as when Nina tells Flora that she’s going away to Hawaii with Wesley and Eva for TWO WEEKS for Xmas! Nina was worried that Flora would be alone for Christmas. Then, yet, when Flora shows up at a Christmas gala, Wesley and Eva are there too - when they were supposed to be in Hawaii. So the Author did not keep track of what she was writing. Her timelines were not consistent. And this is just one example.
Flora was too much of a doormat at times, which frustrated me. Nina was a selfish, spoiled, entitled girl. Eva was a narcissist. Wesley was cold and manipulative, Dane was odd yet wonderful! Delilah was adorable!Logan was a true, supportive friend.
All in all, it’s an OK read. I do think the book was way too long. Could’ve been shortened by quite a few chapters. Then we could’ve been given an epilogue further into all of the characters’ future. I’ve read better, and I’ve read worse.
I ended up skimming this book. I don't know what the author was trying to achieve with this. I ended up disliking the main female character. The book was a wash rinse repeat over and over. She...felt her freedom...or whatever over and over only to continue to be a doormat. Her daughter was supposed to be like what ...9 but the author had her talking like she was in her teens. I don't know. It was a hot mess. And that she walked away from her child and replaced her really bothered me. I'd have wanted to see her tell her daughter she wasn't going to talk to her like that, she was her mother and she would show respect, she was going to come stay with her off and on whether she liked it or not. This was just a hard no for me. The whole I choose me thing whatever fell flat for me.
Seriously questioning who...or what wrote this book!
I thought about 1 star but settled on 2 on the off chance this really was written by humans. I'm seriously baffled here, because I finished this entire book thinking that any minute all would be explained. It's not that the book isn't well written, because it is...which is why I question whether or not it's AI. Several times I scrolled back to see if I somehow missed a chapter, but by the 3rd time it became clear that I hadn't, and there would be no explanations. No way to "catch up", because the author was not catching up! What happened here? I know there was no editor, but I'm also guessing there may have been no author as well! Most unsatisfying read I've had in a long, long time, which is a shame, because it was well written.
And it was also all.over the place. No explanation for things or behaviors. One minute certain characters are getting along.and then for no reason at all, bam, fighting. I HAVE SO MANY QUESTION. No passion. The first 300 pages were about fmc being mistreated and she rarely said any thing about it or stuck up for herself. It was just cruelty and abuse, and no real reason why. No real reason for anything. The mfc.CONSTANTLY saying she had enough, but KEPT putting HERSELF in positions to be abused. REPEATEDLY. No issues solved. No explanations. It was interesting, and kept me reading it, but at the end I was just so relieved I didn't pay for this book.
Loved this one. The emotions and sadness of how the heroine felt was realistically written. I was able to connect with the heroine struggle on how everyone treated her especially the ex husband. The ex side piece was very toxic and I was annoyed how the heroine felt like she had to fake still being with the ex to appease others. Am I glad the author did not made this to be where the heroine gets back with the ex husband. The best part about this book were the feelings being shown and not told. The best part was the ending on how the heroine got her payback by finding another who was the right person with an adorable little girl. Definitely recommend this.
Wow - this was like a train wreck. Had potential but then read almost like a telenovella written by AI
So many inconsistencies, characters popped up that made you scratch your head and ask…who? Questionable best friend. A daughter that was aged at 9 but then 5, but then sounded like she was a teenager. Honestly the plot, if you want to call it that was all over the place. And hey, I didn’t realize Hawaii was now a ski resort 🤣 Or you can get married by just signing a contract Wow. I’m surprised Amazon even allowed this book.
I still can’t believe I forced myself to finish reading this book? It makes no sense on many fronts. Why did Dane point a gun at Flora? What was repaid? Who hired him? How did Eva deceive Wesley? Who stabbed her? Did she hire them to stab her? What was Dane’s real job ( what type of company did he own)? What happened to Dahlia’s mother (how and when did she die)? I could go on and on with the questions. The bottom line: don’t waste your time trying to read this! Huge disappointment!!!
Ms. Simpson did an excellent job in telling this story of heartache, pain and regret. There were times it was emotional but then after a rebuilding, slowly life gets better.
The characters are spot on. Nina, a child, was manipulated something fierce. I felt her father should have put s stop to it but he wouldn't win any awards for being a father or husband.
This is a good read with depth. I do recommend it.
I can’t remember the title but this is nearly identical in plot to another book I read a few months ago. This novel completes the story in a single book…the competing publication is a series. One of them is infringing on copyright.
That said, it is very poorly written with little to no transition between sections, grammatical errors and reads as ‘English as a second language’.
Talk about engagement. Geez. lol. But what an amazing transformation. It wasn’t quick and dramatic it was slow and purposeful. Floral, was chosen this time. Not just by Dane but by Dehlia. I did not like Wesley at all. He was horrible and so was floras dad, stepmom and sister. Poor Nina never knew what a gem in a mom she had. That was the part that made me the saddest. Great book.
I think this is the book version of a pay by chapter story. Chapters don't really flow. Like something that has happened seems to be still 'open' in the next. So many things are repetitive. So Long too! And although grammer/editing is fine, it is definitely not written by a person/s who has lived in places that are in the story. Culturally very different. Also AI used? There is angst, some times contrived but some emotions do resonate. The overall experience is okayish.
There is no way this book was written by a human! It's absolutely pathetic. The plot?... sorry there is no plot. Thank goodness I didn't pay for this, I'd have been up in arms demanding my money back and compensation for the time wasted trying to read it. I'm not saying anything about the chuffing book as it's already taken too much of my time as it is.
So long and so many painful parts of the story. Thank goodness for the happy ending, but really dreadfully, unnecessarily long. I couldn't wait for it to be over, but I had to see how it all worked out. So much of it, although placed in America, smacked of being written for another part of the world. Maybe English as a second language? Something was off in the writing. Thank goodness I'm done with this book! LOL
She was a doormat, she sleep with him knowing he is sleeping with her sister. She never stood up, I thought when she file for divorce I was going to get a strong woman but no just a sad doormat.
She had no spine.
And please stop the stupid, the sister would be in jail not therapy, if Dane had love her, he would if made sure but this was just really to dumb to believe.
This book was just cooked were the flow of the book didn't make sense or went into depth to explain the mfc childhood. It was so many different pieces that were just put together that didn't fit. A good book is written with feeling and expression no matter how brilliant AL is without real feelings there is no connection with the readers.
Either they completely plagiarized this story or the same AI made this book because it's exactly like the mini series you see ads for on tiktok. Like almost bar for bar the same, I got 3 chapters in before DNFing because watching terrible actors play this out at least saved more time than reading this.
I loved this book because it represented realness on a whole new level. Many people have lived this nightmare. But this wonderful author offered HOPE. Its never too late for reflect tion, redemption and to reposition oneself to learn how to fight, forgive and love again.
Giving 10 years to a marriage age that was never real, Flora leaves but… -She lets her ex and her spoiled daughter walk all over her. -She resigns from her job but then her husband fires her (What the what?). -No real backbone about what she wants.
This novel was simply dreadful. I stopped at chapter 12. Some of the story just didn’t make sense,eg. The husband has been ignoring his wife for years and has a new love interest but was stark by his wife’s absence and suddenly starts talking about all the things she did that he had never noticed.
This is poorly written. The daughter's actions are aged at kindergarten aged to young adult, all in the space of less than a year. Main character actions were not believable.
I would guess AI. I read the much much better version of this book, this one isn't worth it. Repeated events, FMC comes to a different conclusion on her marriage every paragraph, plot errors that would make you stab a physical copy of this book.
Absolutely terrible. It doesn't read well. It doesn't flow. It's repetitive and ridiculous. It's like A book written by AI that hasn't yet learnt how humans behave or sound.
I see a lot of reviews mentioning AI, but I think it's more a case of English not being the authors first language and the author not familiar with America.
Lots of storyline picked up only to be abandoned. Lots of loose threads and plot holes.
This book had the bones of a good story. So sorry I got to chapter 28 and I was struggling. I ended up at epilogue I just couldn’t take it anymore. Reduced to half the size would have done it justice.
