The Fellowship returns home to Marsheim in one piece, but their boss is at the end of his rope in the wake of their last rain-soaked job. Tired of political power plays, Erich decides that it’s time to take on what he hopes to be a more typical adventure outside of Marsheim. Of course, given our favorite optimizer’s infamous luck, he might just get pushed into finally showing his Fellows what he’s truly capable of. Keep your eyes peeled as Erich’s adventures continue!
While it was an entertaining read which fitted expectations it did come with two caveats that bothered me a bit. First of all, it felt rather similar to the previous volume in how the Fellowship faces a large unknown opposing force in defensive fights. Secondly, I am not entirely sure what to feel about Margrit pushing Erich into other relations. I am not automatically against it. It makes some sense based on what we know from for example Hendersons in earlier volumes. Erich is clearly struggling with it which is a change from the usual in the genre. It just feels a bit cheap. Neither of these two things really lessen my enjoyment of the series, but depending on how it is handled in the future this might change. For now, an enjoyable read with some great world building and solid characters.
