English historical fiction romance

This is the love story of Duke Lysander and Lady Georgina. Lysander is a horribly emotionally scarred man that is haunted by his past. Georgina is a lady about to marry a man that turns out to be a scoundrel. She is literally having insomnia about getting married and runs into her maid Dottie. Dottie's story lets Georgina know that she can not marry him. He is so cruel to Georgina that she jilts him at the altar. She's running from ruining her life and falls into the lake in Hyde Park. Lysander sees Georgina fall into the lake and fail around like she can't swim. He dives in to save her. A crowd has formed around when Lysander pulls a drowning Georgina from the lake and that start blaming duke Lysander for her running away from marrying the Lord. Lysander makes an instant decision to offer Georgina his hand in marriage to save her reputation from scandal. What an illustrious start to their relationship. And the road just gets rocky from that point. At least Georgina has 4 sisters that are already married and Lysander has his best friend Lord Thomas to lean on.
This story has a lot of mystery and a ton of emotional baggage in the twists and turns of their storyline. The characters are wonderfully interesting and will keep you guessing what they will do next. Also we cannot forget Georgina's parrot named Mr. Skwacksby who adds a lot of colorful language and levity to Lysander and his household .
Its a wonderful book and an easy read. I enjoyed it very much.

Learn to swim!

A wonderfully written story, heartbreaking to begin with but two strong of characters develop. Georgina learns on her wedding day that her fiance had seduced her maid and she is with child. When Georgina confronts him, he down plays it and said ir didn’t matter, done all the time. Instead of walking down the aisle, she run and while looking to see if anyone is following her, her foot slips in mossy bank and falls into the lake. She can’t swim, but a stranger, riding through Hyde Park, see her fall into and saves her, she can’t swim! Lysander sees all the people seeing her in his arms, start to gossip, so he proposes and they are wed, and he insists he teach her to swim! Hard to put it down, and worth reading!

This is an interesting story with two main characters who have personal issues that needed to be resolved, but first they marry to avoid a scandal. Lady Georgina is literally running from a wedding that she wants no part of, is not looking and falls into a lake. The bad news is, she doesn't know how to swim. The good news, Duke Lysander is near the lake, sees what has happened and jumps in to save Georgina thus the scandal. There are a few graphic sex scenes. The one thing this story brings out to me is that no one can make you happy, you have to decide to be happy yourself.

A loving relationship

While running away from a marriage she did not want, Georgina almost lost her life by falling into a lake. Luckily she was saved by Lysander. Due to the public area they were in and the gossiping already blossoming about them, Lysander proposed marriage. It was meant to be a marriage of convenience but with the chemistry between them it soon grew into a much more richer, loving relationship that was meant to together forever.

This was a great book, but too much graphic content. I loved the plot and the parrot was a hoot! The characters are well written and the plot was excellent.

The Prequel and the Epilogue did not work.

That is very frustrating!
