About the author

John Hope Bryant is an entrepreneur, author, advisor, and one of the nation’s most recognized empowerment leaders. He is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Operation HOPE and Bryant Group Companies, and, as the author of Love Leadership: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World (Jossey– Bass, 2009), is the only African-American best-selling business author in America. Mr. Bryant serves for President Barack Obama as chairman of the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability, Subcommittee on the Underserved and Community Empowerment.

Mr. Bryant is the cofounder of the Gallup– HOPE Index, the only national research poll on youth financial dignity and youth economic energy in the United States. He also is a cofounder of Global Dignity, with Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and Professor Pekka Himanen of Finland. Global Dignity is affiliated with the Forum of Young Global Leaders and the World Economic Forum.

Mr. Bryant is a thought leader represented by the Bright- Sight Group for public speaking and serves on the board of directors of Ares Commercial Real Estate Corporation (NYSE: ACRE), a specialty finance company managed by an affiliate of Ares Management LLC, a global alternative asset manager with approximately $59 billion in committed capital under management as of December 31, 2012.

Okay so. Listening to the intro and I wonder - do the authors know how capitalism works? Capitalism, by its nature, cannot work "for all". You can't have "equal capitalism". You cannot have a capitalism in which everyone has capitalism. That's not capitalism, it's socialism, communism, or another similar ideology based on the specifics you want. These are not dirty words. You are allowed to be pro-socialist. It's okay, I promise. You don't have to pretend that this can still be capitalism, because it inherently cannot. You don't have to repeat "that's not socialism" when it very much is socialism. Please. Please learn what the words you use actually mean.

Also, why are you so obsessed with "this is not x, it's y". In some chapters, it feels like every other sentence follows this pattern. And generally, there are many patterns that make me suspect this author might have touched up on his grammar with AI, which... you're for capitalism for all, why not pay someone to do the editing for you if you're not confident in your own writing? Obviously just a suspicion, but you kind of start to get a feeling for which writing is fully human and which has been... assisted. (And just to be clear, not saying the author just generated this entire book. There seems to be some very human bias in here that I do believe the author put in authentically.)

This book's narration was weird, too. I listened to it on 3x, and STILL there were a BUNCH of pauses that just really broke the reading flow. If I'm listening to a book on 3x, I don't want there to be literal SILENCE everytime there's a comma. Do not like the narration.

I ended up dnf'ing this at around 50% just because like... the author has some decent ideas (though I don't particularly see any ideas for implementation), but just completely fails to realise that he is no longer talking about capitalism, or then that what he is proposing is in direct contradiction with the principles of capitalism, which he somehow still wishes to uphold, just... less capitalist? But again, failing to realise that he is no longer talking about capitalism here. This dude feels like a Republican who holds Democrat values without realising it, and is trying really hard to make it all fit.

This book just really annoyed me because of the above-mentioned, both content and the horrible, horrible narration. My TTS has more fluent speech than this guy.

I'm always interested in what other people think is the ideal economic framework.

This book covered a lot of social issues as well as highlighted the systemic racist & classist infrastructure that exists in the US.

some points made in this book did not resonate with me, especially the parts on glorifying AI.

Capitalism for All presents a compelling vision of a more inclusive capitalism built on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and broader access to capital. I found this perspective both optimistic and worthwhile, and I would have liked to see it developed in greater depth.

One question stayed with me after finishing the book: What are the incentives for those who already hold wealth and power to broaden participation in wealth creation? The vision is compelling, but I would have enjoyed a deeper discussion of the mechanisms that could align those incentives and make that vision achievable. Even so, it's a thought-provoking read that encourages an important conversation.

I like a lot of the narratives and policies in this book, but it's just too light on any evidence/sources/data to explain *why* these policies will work. Lots of noting that X is correlated with Y, and we want more Y so let's promote X (especially where X is credit score), without anything to convince me that there's a causal relationship. Also, some of the sentence structures are too reminiscent of LLM output for my tastes.

This was outstanding a true Testament to anything is possible with the right vision his discussions on all inclusive capitalism was just genius and I would hope that all world leaders take heed to the message that was delivered by capitalism for all I think it could really move the world in the right direction
