"In Faery, you have to fight for your happy ever after."

For readers who crave immersive world-building, faey intrigue, and slow-burn romance.

Grace has always felt different. Raised on tales of faeries and old magic, she lives in a rural Irish village where fear of the wee folk still runs deep. Her days are spent pulling pints in the local tavern; her nights haunted by dreams of a seductive stranger.
But when her best friend is cursed by a flurry of sprites, Grace is pulled into the very world she believed belonged in fables. Faery is real and so is the stranger from her dreams.
Drawn to him against her better judgment, Grace is swept into a realm of brutal beauty and deadly bargains, where a single drink can bind your soul and one kiss can seal your fate. The faery lord who once only watched from the shadows now holds secrets that could unravel everything—including her heart.
As shadowy forces close in and the barrier between worlds begins to fray, Grace must decide whether what they share is worth risking everything for.
For in a world where trust is currency and magic is lethal, their love might be the most dangerous bargain of all.

Emily Sarratt writes for those like her, who dream of something more, and search for meaning in a world that’s forgotten magic. She believes you don’t have to be loud to be powerful, certain to be true, or finished to be real.

She thrives in nature, surrounded by trees, green fields and hawthorn-decorated hedgerows. It's where she lives in the Royal County of Meath (Ireland) with her husband, two small children and Otto their large fluffy mutt. She can usually be found daydreaming out the window with a cup of tea at her elbow, a black biro in her hand and an empty chocolate wrapper nearby.

She writes books she wants to read; with magic you can believe in, romance that makes your heart ache and swell, and characters who feel like real people you want to root for.

Romance fantasy is her favourite genre, to write in and read. Why? Well magical love of course, who doesn't want that?

If you’re ever in a slump, read this book and I promise you this will pull you out of it immediately. I went in expecting a typical fae romantasy but this completely surprised me (in the best way) The atmosphere felt so vivid, like I could actually smell the magic in the air and hear the whispers of faery. The author did such an amazing job building a world that feels both beautiful and dangerous, and I could not put it down. (My social life? She’s fine. She’ll recover.)

The MMC reminds me of Darius Acrux, so obviously now they’re both fighting for the same spot on my book boyfriends list. He’s morally grey, protective but mysterious and every scene with him had me rereading lines just to soak it all in. Grace was such a great balance to him, she’s strong, brave and quietly determined, even when everything around her was falling apart. I loved how her choices actually mattered and how she grew throughout the story.

And THE SPICE!!! OOO🌶️🌶️🌶️ Giggling and kicking my feet level of good. The tension, the buildup, the way every moment felt earned, it was the kind of chemistry that makes you want to scream into a pillow. Their connection felt real and passionate without ever taking away from the story itself. (I will be seated for every future Rann scene, thank you)

By the end I was completely obsessed. It had everything I look for in a romantasy: emotional stakes, beautiful writing, a love story that keeps you hooked and just the right amount of danger. I’ll definitely be rereading this and counting down the days for the next book in the trilogy.

Thank you Emily for choosing me to be a beta reader!💗

I was an ARC reader for this book!

This was a cute and quick read for me, and it had a great story.

It had plenty of dream smut (iykyk) and had some good characters that I want to see more of.

FMC was a likable character, a very smart girl, and echos some brave traits throughout the book. I really like that she wasn't dependent on love and was more concerned with other people's well-being. It's very realistic compared to some love stories. All of her emotions throughout the book are so relatable.

I would say the only thing I would change is maybe adding some spacing or font change for flashbacks/dreams as at times I did get a little confused when it changed.

Still, nonetheless, this was a great book, and I am excited to see what happens to Grace in the next book after that cliffhanger!

Dangerous in a way I wasn’t expecting and dripping with longing, contempt and intrigue, this faery romantasy was the perfect change of pace from the fae and fairies I’m used to. Set in Ireland, Bound by Iron is filled with goblins, fairies and a menagerie of creatures I recognized from traditional fairy tales & lore. But this book added a touch darkness that reminded me of a Grimm fairy tale and I totally loved it. Honestly, it was the surprisingly twisted darkness that had me leaning into Grace’s story and I ate up!

From bloody feet from dancing to bewitched music, to foods that could drug or trap her, to lords and ladies looking to hunt and torture her, I was sucked into the danger Grace faced at every turn. But ultimately, this is a story about a woman coming into her own and a forbidden romance between her and Lord Rioren. Grace, abandoned as a baby, is looking for somewhere she fits and a sense of family. Over the course of the book, she quietly builds up her confidence in this strange land. Rioren is powerful, protective and 100% obsessed with Grace. These two are forbidden on every level and he uses his magic to visit her in her dreams. Her very explicit dreams! Add in ALL of the underlying questions about who she is, whether she’ll be able to be leave and if she’ll ever be able to kiss Rioren in-the-flesh, and I was feeling the angst. I also had SO many questions. The first in a trilogy, I’m hoping the second book fills in all of those gaps. Especially who she is and where the romance will go with the magical dark lord who is seriously down bad.

I absolutely enjoyed this unique take on a dark faery world. I loved reading about realm overlaps, travel between realms and the problems with the boundaries. I did notice a few bumpy pacing moments, especially in the beginning, and I struggled with some of the plot holes. While I know they were intentional, I would have like to have felt like I knew where a few of them were going 😅. I guess this is why I’m anxious to read book 2!! If you’re looking for a twisted faery romance, this is your book. 4 stars. 1.5 peppers ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️

What I loved about this book:
❤️ World Building - You start with a more modern world and a disbelief in the faery world, but of course the faery world is very real. The author does a wonderful job of creating both of these worlds for us. The faery world is dark, confusing and scary to our MFC, Grace, even though her guardian has warned her about the world for her whole life. It invokes the feelings of being alone in a strange new world, where warnings aren’t the same as the real thing.

❤️ The Characters - Grace is a fantastic MFC, she is believable and relatable. The mystery around her past is captivating and compelling. She is multidimensional and you can feel her pain as your own. We do not get to know the MMC, Rioren, all that well, but currently I’m not too happy with him, but that’s all part of the story. We also get to know the “side” characters better in this book, which I always enjoy.

❤️ The Story - The story had me hooked! I read this book in one day. It was so good, I just couldn’t put it down! The cliffhanger ending made it hard for me to go to sleep last night! I’m still obsessed with where this story is going to go next. The story is just captivating! I was on the edge through all the twist and turns throughout the book

What I thought could have been better:
🤔 I LOVED this book, but the cliffhanger was a killer! It’s a shorter book, and it might have been nice to have a long one that didn’t end, but I don’t know what the author has planned out, all I can say is that I’m here for it whatever it may be and wherever it might go!

Overall: This book is fantastic and you should grab it now!

🦊Fox Facts Inspired by fox from story: Foxes are considered a fast-living species. They reach sexual maturity quickly, and on average live just 18 months. However, they can live for up to 10 years in the wild, and there is some evidence that urban foxes live for longer than countryside ones.

I got this book free 4 my honest review

I received an ARC of this book, which does not affect my review. Thank you to the author and Booksirens for the chance to read this book.

From the first chapter, this book had me in its grasp. It’s spicy, but not overly, as the majority of the story is about Grace entering the realm of Faery after her best friend is cursed, where she always has to be on her toes. She also untangles the mystery of the seductive stranger who would visit her in her dreams even when she was not in Faery. Once in the fae realm, she meets characters from Gerand to Rioren, along with all kinds of magic she isn’t used to. While this book at times had the feel of popular books like ACOTAR, with a young woman entering a realm she is unfamiliar with, Grace comes from the modern day, so there are references to cars, movies, and audiobooks. I liked that. I often equate fae fantasy above all with period fantasy for some reason so it feels refreshing to have books that don’t stick solely to those past time periods.

This book is fairly short but that doesn’t mean the characters are not developed. I liked Grace for the most part, though like many female main characters in the romantasy genre, she doesn’t always make the cleverest decisions or does things that have me questioning if she possesses a survival instinct. However, she was still likable, as was Rioren. I won’t say the book or the characters are vastly new in this genre, we have our classic mortal heroine and brooding, noble love interest, but there is still much to like about those archetypes especially within an adventure filled story.

The book definitely ends on a cliffhanger and not a happy one either! There is more to be told in this story and I’d like to return to it, though I do get worried that if it is too long between releases I may forget what happened. On the bright side, this is an easy book to get through and entertaining as well, so if I am in the mood for a romantasy read with all the popular tropes I love anyways I would enjoy reading it again.

The opening pulled me in instantly. Grace’s dream and her seductive suitor set the tone for a story that’s equal parts mystery and desire.

The world-building is one of my favorite parts. It’s beautifully layered without ever feeling overwhelming. Instead of being hit with heavy exposition, we discover the world of Faery alongside Grace, sharing in her confusion, awe, and wonder. That choice makes the journey feel intimate and immersive because we’re as inexperienced as she is, and that’s what makes it so engaging.

The tension between Grace and Rioren is palpable, steamy, scene-stealing, and truly the heart of the story. Her journey through Faery is full of adventure, danger, and unexpected allies. Aengus especially intrigues me; I can’t help but wonder if there’s a deeper connection from the past between them. Varyen, on the other hand, is a fascinating contrast, miserable yes, but written in a way that lets you glimpse that his actions come from duty rather than cruelty. And Robyn… well, we all have that one friend we adore but sometimes need to rein in.

But the biggest question of all, who is Grace truly, and what is she? That mystery is what will keep me turning the pages.

Overall: A captivating, romantic, and vividly built fae world that I didn’t want to leave. I can’t wait to read more of this series and highly recommend it for fans of morally grey fae lords, forbidden attraction, and immersive fae worlds.

I voluntarily signed up to read this ARC 🩷
A short read that a rainy day outside justified me sitting on my butt all day glued to my kobo.

Mortal x Fae Noble

One of my fave romantic dynamics 🥹

& usually one with a HEA but noooooope! We will be desperately haaaanging on for book 2.

I enjoyed this very very much i especially loved all the warnings Grace would remember while she was in Faery, this one in particular

“We recognise your generous hospitality, but to eat would be to stay, and we only want to visit today.”

Her naivety annoyed me sometimes but then she would remember things like that and I was begging her to continue listening to her intuition 🥹
does she though? 😅 a fish out of water that had more knowledge than other humans but did she use it as much as she should have omg no so yes I really did lol I begged her to listen sometimes 🤣🤣 a stubborn FMC 🤦‍♀️

Rioren was dark, mysterious, protective & duty-bound ✅

I’m invested. I can’t wait for book 2, hoping to get all my burning questions answered.

A dangerous adventure in unsafe fae territory amongst strangers you don’t know who or what to trust (at this point we should trust no one lol)

I read an ARC copy for this book, and overall this was a decent story. The storyline felt pretty creative and I was definitely intrigued by some elements of this book, like the magic, Grace & Rioren, the faery world etc. i think the author also did a really good job of differentiating the characters from one another and getting us to feel different things for each of them!

However, once I hit the 50% mark i started to struggle, particularly with the pacing. It felt too fast, and there were some instances where it felt a bit dragged out and like not a whole lot was actually happening. I personally believe the story could have been condensed down, and there were some instances where the writing felt a bit janky with the frequent use of short sentences.

I landed on 3 stars considering I would probably read book two, because i’m curious and aside from the short sentences, the overall writing style was pretty good. Personally i enjoyed the tension build up between Rioren and Grace, and while it is a fantasy romance it doesn’t feel super intense and is entertaining to follow along. I’m curious to see how things progress from here!!

I had the pleasure of reading the arc of Bound by Iron by Emily Sarratt. The book is fae romantasy and is based around the character Grace. She was always told to stay away from Faery, it was always all the negatives. Until her best friend was cursed and she finds herself deep in faery trying to help cure her best friend.

This book gripped me from the start wanting to escape from the mortal world and dive deeper into the faery realm. The author did an amazing job of creating the both of these worlds and dividing them for us. The Faery world is dark, mysterious and confusing for our FMC, Grace. Although being warned about the faery realm from her guardian, once inside you felt the feelings that Grace felt yourself as a reader.

I throughly enjoyed this book and would recommend to others for a quick and short but also gripping romantasy read. The cliffhanger at the end did leave me wanting to know more and i will be picking up the next one.

After being warned about the dangers of the Fae, Grace finds herself in Faery, along with her best friend. She encounters all sorts of creatures and characters along the way. She even encounters a mysterious Fae male that has been seducing her in her dreams.

Grace gets to know some of the folks she’s met and becomes enchanted with them and Faery. When the dangers of the Fae world and some of its inhabitants catch up to her, she must decide whether or not to become more immeshed in this magical land or return home to her safe and cozy cottage.

What a great book! It has everything! Whimsy, magic, adventure, humour, yearning and a little spice! I definitely recommend you check this book out!

This book piqued my interest in the very first chapter, giving you a glimpse into the stranger who has invaded her dreams. This was a super quick and easy read. I overall liked the story. I really think it has a lot of potential to be great in the coming books. After reading the ending, I'm dying for book two. That way, I can find out how Grace will get back to Faery, among other things! I also liked how the Fae were different. A lot of them didn't look like your average human. There are also Goblins, Druids, etc. This book was quite intriguing to me, and I can not wait to dive more into the world of Faery.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am reviewing it voluntarily

Well I gave this book five stars but the ending left me feeling like it should be one star

How can you end such a brilliant story like that??

I know that another one may follow sometime but seriously this was an awful ending left you hanging

The concept and storytelling were brilliant explanation of the magical world awesome the brother relationship elder with younger had all the angst you’d expect

Some of those beings were just evil hunting folk for fun

Certainly will think of fairies differently

Trusting a follow up but would I risk being left hanging on so so many points??

I got this as my very first ARC read. It starts off in modern times gives cozy tavern cottage vibes loved the whole transported to fairy land take it was very interesting that they are separate but so close together. I loved that the author added themes from Irish Celtic fae mythology so cool! It was fun and whimsical short read which was nice I typically read much longer books but this was a very good story. Readers who liked from blood and ash will like this it has some similar themes. It was mildly spicy. I loved the authors take on it I’m very excited to see if the author continues it after that cliffhanger omg!

Amazing read! The world building and characters are exquisite. You can definitely imagine yourself here. Not your typical fae romance, this was an exciting read. I'm ready to jump right into the next one.
"Something was building. A change was coming."
Grace is just your average orphan until she lets her friend talk her into trouble. When they end up in faery, her friends hurt and doesn't know the rules Grace does. You won't get something for nothing and there are very few who will actually help you. So will the fox she saved, now save her? Will the man she likes return her feelings? Will she find out secrets that have been kept from her?

I really enjoyed this as a opening chapter in the Veiled Legacy Trilogy series, I was hooked from the Irish fae fantasy romance. It uses the overall concept in a unique way and was able to create something that was new and engaging. The characters were beautifully written and had that romance concept that I was looking for from the description. I enjoyed how good Emily Sarratt wrote this and am excited for more in this series and from Emily Sarratt.

She's a lost, small town girl who is repairing from trauma. He's a world stepper, crossing between human and fae lands just to see her. She lands in Faery and her sad story...gets dark.

It starts spicy, gets a bit more innocent, and then body slams you into darkness and intrigue. It's a fun read with likable MCs, depraved support characters, an imaginative environment, and a whole host of mysteries that need to be solved: you're going to love it. Which is going to make cliffhanger ending crush your soul. Enjoy!

ARC Review - I loved this book. From the first chapter it sunk its claws in me. It is a fae romantasy so the world building took me a minute to grasp, but that is typical for me with these books. I would recommend if you want something you can imagine slipping in the world and watching the book play out like a movie!

Okay

Not my favorite fantasy read. I think it was well written, but it wasn't for me. The last chapter was a good cliffhanger but I'm not sure if I'll read the sequel when it's available.
