I thought I was patching up another nameless fighter for cash.
Instead, I'm staring into the eyes of the man who once held a gun to my head.

Declan Killaney is the gorgeous tattooed brutal king of Boston's underground fight scene and the prince of the Irish mafia family that runs this city. And I'm the woman who let his cousin die three years ago.

He should want me dead.
Instead, he offers me a deal, four times my rate to work exclusively for him.
To be at his beck and call.
To belong to him in all the ways that matter.

I should have run. I should have told him to go to hell.
But the money is a ticket to the future I desperately crave.

Now I'm trapped in his orbit, where his obsessive need to possess me burns hotter than his hate.

He says he protects what's his, and his eyes tell me I'm already his property, but I don't belong to anyone. Not anymore.
As I fight to protect the life I've built, the lines between what I'm supposed to be doing and what my heart is telling me begin to blur.

Right when I let my guard down, the Albanians who once owned me come hunting again.

Now, I'm forced to trust the dangerous man who might be my only chance at survival.

Welcome, dark romance lovers.
I'm Gabriella Blackrose, and I write steamy, high-stakes mafia romances set in an interconnected world. My books are filled with morally gray men who would burn down a city for the woman they love and the fierce, complicated heroines who challenge them at every turn.

If you crave obsession, forbidden tension, touch-her-and-die protectiveness, and slow-burn danger that explodes into heat, you're in the right place.

Fair warning: these stories might ruin you for nice fictional boyfriends forever, but honestly, isn't that half the fun? 😂

When I'm not writing, I'm chatting with readers, untangling new betrayals, and expanding the world where my mafia families rise.

Mmm well I did not like this one. New to me author. Started off really well imo. But the further I got the more I realized the writing had no emotional depth. Just words on a page. Telling me this and that but not giving me anything to feel anything for.

I will take a moment to one nice thing: The suspense/bad guy plot. Actually a bit intriguing what their purpose is and how smart they are. So smart they made the MCs and his family seem stupid in comparison with how easy it was for them to get to them and cause carnage. So, at least that was impressive.

I thought the FMC was a strong badass survivor but once she got a little mafia dick she was all scared little girl just basking in male attention and being treated well. God forbid a girl stand her ground 🙄

I liked the MMC for a little while, I thought, then he just became boring. Stupidly keeps secrets from his family when he should have been sharing all the info since it messed with all of their lives. Acted possessive and obsessed over the FMC for literally no reason other than supposedly hating her for something out of her control and then later because she "had fire" and basically didn't let him have his way. Oh what originality. The spoiled playboy finally meets a woman who says no and acts uninterested and now he's obsessed. 😴

And then the FMC being told she can't have kids, her then using it as a shield and excuse it end things between her and the MMC only to our of the blue run into the doctor who told her this at one of the fight night events and he's like "oh child I thought you'd figure it out by now! I owed your father a favor and thought the least I could do was lie and say you couldn't have kids so the Albanians wouldn't use you as a human incubator! congrats!" - I'm paraphrasing but really? REALLY?

She whined and made her inability to have kids her whole personality at the end which was absurd when they weren't in a serious relationship. They hadn't spoken about anything they wanted from a future together. Kids weren't even a thought for the MMC. Even when his twin asked him if he wanted to be a father now he was like no! And you know what? He was beyond happy and not freaked out at all when not five minutes later she's learning that all the unprotected sex they had resulted in her being pregnant. Instead the FMC is like omg we can have that future now! I can stop holding back now!

Like gross. The MMC literally told her she was enough and the FMC was suddenly obsessed over giving him something he never asked for and likely hadn't even gave any consideration yet.

The 🌶️ scenes were also uninteresting. And the way the author just skipped over any scenes where they actually got to know one another. At one point the FMC finally met his twin sister and in her POV she's going on about how the MMC talks about his sister all the time and I'm like when? where? cause this is news to me. Last I checked the FMC had no idea he even had an older brother or a twin or nada. But whateverrrr.

And the way the MMC just takes out all the Albanians for coming after the FMC again. Usually that's actually a good thing but here it came across reckless and selfish because he wasn't the boss of the family. He shouldn't be making those calls, taking out a family's head without running it by his brother because of the consequences.

I was just not happy at all with how this played out. First part was decent but beyond 30% it just felt like a slow slide into disappointment and regret.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ mafia romance… but not obsessed enough

I picked this up because I was in the mood for a mafia romance with that intense, obsessive MMC energy.

This one does have a bit of that dynamic. There’s definitely a push–pull between the characters and some tension in the relationship.

However, for me it didn’t quite go far enough. The obsession and emotional intensity that usually make mafia romances addictive just felt a little toned down.

It’s still a decent read and the story flows well, but it didn’t quite have the bite I was hoping for.

It also looks like this is part of a set of interconnected standalones with an underlying storyline running through them. Personally, I wasn’t invested enough in that larger plot to want to continue the series.

Overall it was fine, just not one that really stuck with me.

Had potential but it lost complexity after half of the book, which was a pity. She was suddenly comfortable with princess treatment after saying she does not want the mafia life. Also, the storyline with the sister felt half-assed as she never shared any details of her life with the MMC but both were convinced they were in love. Felt forced overall.

don’t waste your time on this book! He is the supposed mafia boss, but doesn’t know how to run his own organization???? I was so bored and couldn’t even get past the first couple chapters.

It wasn’t great. There wasn’t really much chemistry to begin with and then all of a sudden he’s kissing her. The next chapter they’re sleeping together- like??? It was just rushed, wasn’t really much plot tbh
