Rate this book
This single volume contains the books "Types of the Tabernacle" and "Types of the Temple," both written by Thomas Newberry in 1887.Doubtless, there are many studies concerning this topic. This particular volume would make a great starter for anyone interested in how the image of Christ was present in these Old Testament types, and would also serve fine as a general review of what you may already know. Maybe someone might benefit.

Little stuck in my mind as I read this. I wanted to know how the symbolism was justified, and I did not feel I benefited in that area.

As I approach the end of this book, I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was enjoyable as the book brought me to study The Book! The author said well many things that I already know and teach yet I learned much by his wording and constructs which he presents. The Tabernacle and Temple were physical types for the anti-type of church today which is spiritual. The analogues are well presented and discussed but lightly cited in scripture. I expected many scriptural citations but was left "thirsty" at times.
The concept here is that the Tabernacle had but one door between the outside and the Holy of Holies where God resided. This door was the type. In the New Testament Jesus says; "I am the way...No one comes to the Father except through me. " John 14:6. No one could approach God in the Tabernacle unless they went through the Door is analogous to Jesus. It may offend some but there is no way to God except through His Son, Jesus. This is just one of many constructs.
