Cale is more famous than ever after quashing an invasion in his hometown. Unfortunately for our wannabe slacker, more attention equals more responsibility—especially since his bold moves messed with the novel’s plot! In a bid to weaken the Indomitable Alliance, he partners up with the Whale Tribe for an assault on the enemy’s frozen shores. Knowing it’ll take more than one battle to come out on the right side of history, he decides it’s time for his homegrown heroes to take center stage! The tension is high as Cale and his friends are in the heat of the war. To my pleasant surprise, their enemies showed their mettle, pushing Cale and his friends to the limits on several occasions. Even Raon momentarily lost his confidence. The poor baby was shook.

“Huh? Why’s this pie so moist?”
The apple pie was sopping wet, as if it had been dunked in water. As Cale furrowed his brow, he heard a small voice.
“…I didn’t cry.”

It’s heartwarming to see Cale nurturing and taking care of the people around him, and they, in return, understand his heart and are also very protective towards him.

Cale meticulously addressed the pains of everyone in his circle, and he always did so in a gentle way, despite his pretense of indifference. His heart seemed to be as big as a mountain.

Not only that, Cale is an advocate for the minorities. He pushed hard for the people that the world rejected to become the heroes.

They needn’t conform to some set of arbitrary qualifications. They were already perfect and complete just as they were—together.

The war is far from finished, and now that Cale doesn’t have any foreknowledge from the book anymore, he has to squeeze his brains and work hard together with his allies to stay ahead of the game. Looks like his dream of a slacker life is still not in the near future!

The Endable Kingdom Arc & The Sealed God's Test Arc

"The shield won't break!"
So hype, So cool, So much fun ❤️

Once he’d disappeared, Cale spoke again. “Apple pie.”
A stubby paw appeared in the air, along with a piece of apple pie. Cale accepted the pie, then frowned.
“Huh? Why’s this pie so moist?”
The apple pie was sopping wet, as if it had been dunked in water. As Cale furrowed his brow, he heard a small voice.
“…I didn’t cry.”
Raon’s statement made Cale sigh.
“I’ll get you a new one if you don’t like it. Don’t eat it if you don’t want to, human. Apple pie from a dragon who isn’t great and mighty can’t be that great either.”

The way Cale protects and cares for his people, and anyone under his banner is so damn cool and heartwarming. He's that daddy for the kids, the best big bro for his friends, and a trustworthy leader for the rest.

The way he cussed the Bishop in front of everyone for Mary's sake ~
“Oh my. How ridiculous.”
Valentino turned his head to find Cale smiling—yet a vicious aura smoldered about him.
“I didn’t think you’d spout such bullshit so openly in a place like this,” Cale drawled. He truly hadn’t expected them to say it so candidly.
..
“We don’t need healing from bastards like you.”
..
“Nobody will get hurt.”
“And that’s because Rowoon’s heroes are here.” Cale’s gaze settled on the bishop, who remained on his feet. “Have you ever felt so much pain that you wanted to die?”
“Excuse me…?”
“We call the people who overcome that kind of pain ‘heroes.’”
“The people standing behind me rose above that pain,” Cale said, with greater conviction than ever before. “They’re the ones I can trust to have my back.”
..
“Healing that only serves those who ‘deserve’ it? We’ll pass on that load of crap.”
..
“What do you think you’re doing, Commander?” the bishop huffed, glaring at Cale. “Apologize for your absurd statements about the church!”
Cale strode toward the door, perusing the gazes focused on him before he finally met the bishop’s eyes. As he walked past, he whispered, “You lost your chance.”

Previously: I was in the mood to binge re-read this novel. Now I realise that, if I want to continue with the official translation, I'll have to wait. YEARS! Seven Seas is only publishing 4 volumes a year, covering a total of ~160 chapters of the web serialisation. That's 4 years considering it's 776 chapters long! I wish they took more time to prepare in the beginning so they could publish more volumes a year.

It is so exciting to follow Cale and his friends' adventures, especially the war scenes!

The strategy for the battle at the Rowoon Kingdom's northeastern sea was brilliantly executed by Cale. Although it was unexpected to encounter the half dragon there, it was a reminder of how powerful those with dragon blood are. Fortunately, Cale had Raon’s help, which allowed them to win the battle.

The travel to the Eastern Continent felt a bit boring to me as there wasn't much thrilling action. Also, when Cale asked the World Tree about Raon’s family, I found the clues given to be quite confusing.

However, the final battle at the Death Canyon arc was intense. It was heartbreaking that Raon fell ill (experiencing his first growth phase) right before the battle began, and without Erhaven's help. It was painful to see Cale so worried, watching Raon unconscious with a high fever. To make matters worse, Cale had to use his shield without Raon’s support, causing him to cough up blood, though thankfully not as much as during the battle in the Henituse Territory. Still, the battle was beautifully executed through the collaboration between the Rowoon, Breck, Tiger, and Whale tribes.

I am so excited to read the continuation of the battle in the next volume!

Web novel chapters: 201-239

The war continues. Cale and the Whale Tribe immediately make a move against Faern using Clope. Following that, the Indomitable Alliance attacks Karo. Cale's team joins the fray, but they face unexpected difficulties when they realize a half-dragon member of Arm is part of the onslaught. They are unprepared to face him, which finally introduces a villain that actually presents a challenge. Then, we get a first look at the Eastern Continent, where Cale leaves Ron and Vicross to start taking over the underworld to push out Arm. Cale briefly returns to speak with the World Tree to learn more about Raon's parentage. Finally, the final battle at Death Canyon, Brek, where Raon goes into his first growth phase.

The story is now getting back to Rosalyn and Lark with the last battle. Lark hasn't had a chance to do anything yet in the story, and Rosalyn has been out of the picture the entire war so far. It's nice to get back to them. That won't pay off until the next volume when the battle ends.

The World Tree gives Cale more cryptic messages about the "other thing" it told him last time, which he means Raon's parentage. Honestly though, I'm thinking Cale was too vague and actually got information about something else. Could be wrong, but we'll see. I have a feeling it could apply to Cale instead.

As for the battle of Karo, Mary, Choi Han, and the dark elves get to show off, especially the dark elves. That's where the half-dragon mage appears. Finally. Finally, someone that poses a threat and ruins Cale's plans. And he's not killed off right away and wasted.

During the battle of Karo, Cale realizes Arm will turn on the Indomitable Alliance once they get pummeled in this last battle and taken over, effectively establishing a foothold in the Western Continent even if they lose the war. Frankly, if it ends with this battle, I'm a little let down because I figured the war would be lengthier. Maybe the plot will focus more on directly confronting Arm, and the Indomitable Alliance is just the prelude? I think that could work. At least Cale has been preparing for it regardless.

The war is still raging. Cale has prepared enough to give him a few initial victories, but his enemies are adapting. Crucially, Cale needs to win without showing all his cards---because the real enemy is Arm, who is manipulating everyone.

This volume continues the war arc, with several major battles interspersed with a few small adventures in the downtime.

I like seeing the focus on the other characters. Choi Han's backstory has been explained before, but I like the extra insight we get into his aura and who he really is underneath it all. Because it just makes SENSE that this poor kid couldn't possibly have survived hundreds of years fighting for his life without majorly breaking. Cale has been a true light of hope for him---and ironically, that makes it harder for him to achieve mastery, since Cale keeps erasing the various events that should have brought him to a deeper darkness.

Lark also gets a nice bit of focus near the end. He's an earnest kid, but still just a kid, and he's crumpling under the weight of the expectations he's placing on himself. This one isn't fully resolved this volume, but the pieces are there for a big finish.

Of course, my favorite is what happens with poor Clope Seca (or should that be poor Cale?). Cale's attempt to persuade the enemy swordmaster has worked a little too well, and Clope's conclusion is a riot. Now Clope is dangerous in an entirely different way . . .

I also love how Cale freaks out over the threat to the barrier stone at a moment when he can't afford any distractions . . . and what actually caused the problem.

Overall this is a fun volume. Although various battles are intense and epic, I prefer the smaller moments between the fights, or the character insights during the fights. I can't wait for the next part to drop. Highly Recommended.

The war is on.
Immediately following the battle at Rowoon, Cale Henituse and company set off to another section of the kingdom to fight the Indomitable Alliance and their allies, the terrorist organization known as Arm. Between the internal politics with the noble factions in his own camp and the powerful enemies marching at their borders, Cale's dream of a life of laziness seems far out of reach. However, even though he no longer knows how the plot will unfold, the unlikely hero and his friends have more than a few tricks up their sleeves -- not to mention some powerful allies -- that are sure to send their enemies running (those that survive, that is...).

This addition in the series is very action heavy, and that almost made me give this book three stars. I'm not a fan of long, drawn-out battle scenes due to the abstractness of their descriptions, and depending on the author, they can be a total mess. The first quarter (third?) of this book is a single battle, to put it in perspective, and about halfway through, I was ready for it to end. The author actually did a pretty good job of painting the scene for me, but I still wanted to move on from it. Thankfully, once it did, the story's pace picked up for me, and even though there was another battle later in the book, it was nowhere near as long, so I was fine with it. Additionally, the majority of the book dealt with Cale and co. scheming, carrying out those schemes, and growing closer as the found family they are, which is what I love about this series. As per usual, it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to pick up the seventh volume and see what comes of the latest "transformation."

Wow! (┛✧Д✧))┛ the war and the battle is insane! I cannot stop fliping the page, gosh.

Honestly after reading the sky war with wyverin in the previous volume, the sea battle kinda basic. But oh my, the next battle in Karo, when Cale and Choi Han against the mage for the first time, it's giving the same thrilling when I read the Cale vs dragon slayer battle.

And! The next battle at Berk! Wow! That's feel like a grand finale. The last war, the last battle with the last boss. How Cale finally using almost all of his Ancient Power. And how Choi Han struggling against the light power, one of the most strongest Cale's companion is struggling right now. My heartbeat is undercontrol. The effort and the struggle Cale and his friend must do to bring down and win over the half blood dragon mage, is so thrilling. ᕙ(•‿•)ᕗ

I say it feel like a grand finale but and then the mage thinking about White Star, and me be like, WHAT, how can I almost forget about this master of Arm! Sureee! He is the last boss that Cale must beat.
I cannot wait how their battle will unfold.(☆▽☆)

And last thing before I forget and pick up the next volume, did this man(?) is really...kinda like ... Raon's family? Him? Uh? ... Well... That's awkard. Maybe. But I guess Cale still will killed this man thought.

Oooo babey did this volume have me stressed because of all the fighting. The first 1/3-1/2 of this book was action packed because of all the fights. And then we slowed down a bit, but that was still enjoyable. I loved seeing all the characters use their abilities to fight in this war, and seeing how smart Cale actually is when it comes to all this.

Roan, Ohn, Hong, and Lark are all my children and they were great in this volume. They’ve grown so much 🥲🙂‍↕️ and I cannot wait for the next volume because of what’s going on with Roan 😈

Cale had such sweet moments with Roan and Lark this volume and I ate that shit up! He truly cares for his people so much and he does show it. Plus, I enjoyed seeing Cale use his abilities a lot this volume. But now I’m upset I have to wait for the next volume cause this ended on a cliffhanger 😩

There is so much action and adventure in this volume with battles and allies and our poor Cale yet to have a satisfying nap.
Adopting side-characters is a passion of mine, so following Cale as he interacts with his crew is so heartwarming.
We are left in the middle of a big event though, so I will be swiftly moving on to the next volume.!
There were a couple of spelling mistakes that I noticed in the English print version, but otherwise the storytelling and pace really suit my taste.

Man, when war hits the fan, that's when everything gets a bit more real. I loved the way that each battle was different - Operation Ghost was flawless and I'm interested to see if Valentino coverts to our side. With Raon down for the count for the next battle though, I'm already nervous about what will happen in the next volume!

-----

I was genuinely pissed that I couldn't dedicate every waking hour to reading this, LOL.

This volume was action packed. Like, seriously, for a person who only wants to chill and laze about Cale does so much freaking work. I guess it's to be expected as we're in a war and all that, but damn.

We also get some more tidbits about Cale's life before his transmigration, which are extremely interesting on a re-read.
