It's not the best children's book ever but I think the idea of being bilingual is very nice. So I want to buy books like that when I have kids in the future, so that's a good fun option to teach them.
But, definitely a children's picture book, and not as useful for an adult trying to learn vocabulary. Learned a few words, true, bit it's just such a tiny book. A few pages, only.
Looking for picture books to help pad my goal of reading 100 books this year. It seems I have read a lot of more in-depth books that took longer than I planned.
Still, I choose to read something fun that I can learn something from. What better than a bilingual picture book?
I think I could have read this without translations. That made me happy. Until I realize how elementary it really is. But, hey--I could have read it and I remember a time I probably couldn't.
The pictures were fun. I liked the bit of story as the child finds a friend to play with at recess. A fun read-aloud for the family who wants to learn.
i'm currently trying to learn spanish - watching spanish shows with subtitles, duolingo, trying to visit various spanish speaking countries to get real time exposure - and i wanted to start practicing reading, and i knew that starting with children's books was my best bet. this was a fairly easy to read book, and i liked that it had the english translation along with the spanish. however, i do wish it was a bit longer, or had a little more variation in words. but overall, it helped reaffirm words i knew, and added a few things to my vocabulary.
I’m learning to speak Spanish fluently after years of learning. I have this four stars because I wish it would have been written in Spanish for the first half and the translated in English in the back or something. It would have helped. I felt like I was cheating because I couldn’t help looking at the words.
I really like this book. I thought the images were clear, colorful, and easy for young children to recognize. Putting the Spanish equivalent of a basic sentence or to on top of the English one was brilliant I am an adult with minimum Spanish language skills but I would desperately like to learn and I think my daughter and I will really benefit from her books. I recommend them and I personally plan to buy more.
